Here's a couple observations I had:

First, I think there was a technical malfunction when the band came onstage as there were no lights for the first 30 seconds to a minute of "Love is Not Enough". It was completely dark even while Trent was singing, and that just seemed odd if it was intentional. Second, it appeared that Trent's mic went out during the "Down In It" breakdown during "Closer" because there was no audible singing during that part, but I could see him on the screens singing into the mic. Third, it appears that we LA folk got shorted about two or three songs based on what they've been playing at the other shows so far. Other shows have been reporting the exact same setlist that we had but with the addition of songs like "Deep", "Getting Smaller", "Starfuckers, Inc" and "Not So Pretty Now". While we didn't get any of those songs, they didn't play anything else that hasn't shown up at every other show.

All in all it was a pretty good show, but it paled in comparison to the club show I went to in San Diego back last time they were here. I was somewhat surprised that the lighting setup wasn't too different from the club show (with the obvious exception of the screen that came down during "Eraser" through "Beside You In Time"). I had a great time, of course, but I was definitely a little surprised and disappointed when "Head Like a Hole" started, because I knew that we were getting a shorter show than everyone else had been getting. Maybe it's because they were using a new drummer though, who knows (they made no mention of that whatsoever, nor did they say anything about Jerome). The replacement drummer (whomever he was) did a good job though, and I have no complaints at all about his or anyone else's performance. I just wish it had been longer

PS - It took fucking forever to get out of there.

Jerome was there last night drumming.

The Hollywood bowl has a strict curfew at 11:00pm which may have been the reason why the set was slightly shorter by 2 or 3 songs

Yeah, I think the curfew probably had something to do with it. The set was definitely shorter than the shows I went to last week.

Great to see Jerome playing, but man, I hope he knows what he's doing. He was "okay" after the last episode too and he ends up in the hospital again. I did see Josh Freese standing talking to some people on the side of the stage while waiting for Autolux to come on, so I know he was there...and the word was pretty strong that he was going to be filling in. I was quite shocked when I looked over and saw Jerome. As I said, great that he was able to play, I just hope it's a wise decision that he continue on with the tour.

Great show, despite the shortness of the set, and great seats as well (3rd row center). Gotta love the Spiral.

Here's my so-called review of the show.

This was my first and only show of this tour.

First off, I don't think I'll see another fucking show at that place even if it's a double bill of a Roth era VH Reunion and Led Zep with Bonham reanimated in peak form. The place just has so many negatives for rock shows it's ridiculous. Just parking takes 45 minutes and they "stack" park cars in a huge tiered lot on a hill so if you're early, your car will be buried by hundreds of later arrivals and you may as well consign yourself to spending the night there because it'll take hours to get out. I bet there's still people waiting to get out thsi morning at 8am. I bypassed that whole fucking deal by parking kind of on a curb in this lot right next to the road out and sure enough, nobody was parked blocking me when the show let out so I was lucky enough to zip right out over the curb on onto the street after the show ended.

The other big negative is the lower sections about the first 1/2 of the bowl up to the "pool" seating in front of the stage (which is basically an orchestra pit with folding chairs) have "boxes" which are tiny fucking waist high cubicles about 4 ft x 6 ft with 4 folding chairs per box. It's virtually impossible to move around in these dinky things and anytime someone in the back pair of seats wants to go for whatever reason, the front guy next to the itty bitty opening has to move his chair out to free up the person in the back. Sitting is pretty much being crammed in business class on a jet and about as conducive to enjoying a concert.

Anyway, I got there really early, about 5:30 as I heard traffic would be fucked due to the fire in Burbank, freeway work and other bullshit. No such problems. Nice cool night, no smoke in the air from the fires. No traffic until I got on Highland which was already slow going 'til I parked.

After claiming my seat in my little cubicle, I went off in search of some sort of drink, only to find beer or wine was all they served. Fuck that. So I fiddled around with my shitty little digital camera for a while (they letpeople bring in any kind of camera which was cool although all my photos turned out like shit) and the opening band, Autolux came on and did their set for about 40 minutes. Nothing really mind blowing from this band, although the barefooted female drummer was kinda fun to watch. Music wise, pretty much like a 2nd generation Sonic Youth/Jesus and Mary Chain type of band.

Queens of the Stone Age came on around 8pm and played a pretty long and full set lasting well over an hour. I can't say I really enjoyed their set, although I liked their few well known tunes. However, their last song, "No One Knows" was stretched out and imo, screwed up with a craptacular guitar wankathon that was completely unnecessary. The band seemed pretty tight and although I heard Josh was drunk or fucked up at some other shows, he seemed focused and fine tonight. Also the keyboard player chick had one of the nicest racks I've seen on a musician, and yes, I'm talking boobies. One more thing, Josh Homme seems to be looking to pick up David Lee Roth's old habit of using the same (semi-funny) one-liners at every show, main one being (pointing to guy in audience) "you've seen more dick-ends then weekends." Ho ho. Come on Josh, gimme a break......

Nine Inch Nails came on around 9:15 and opened with the somewhat mellow "Love Is Not Enough"in a kind of understated way by keeping the band silhouetted behind a huge white transparent curtain. Trent Reznor has buffed himself up to a ridiculous degree complete with a nearly shaved head and is as intense a frontman as ever. I had the same reaction seeing the "new" Trent as I did the first time I saw Bruce Springsteen early in the "Born in the USA" tour in '84 when he went from skinny Jersy rocker to ultra buff bandanna rockstar.

Interestingly, the band's regular drummer, Jerome Dillon was playing tonight. Since I'd never seen him play before tonight, I don't know if he had more pre-recorded drum tracks backing him or not but I'd say more than 60% of any drumming I heard was taped or loops. Trent said absolutely nothing regarding the situation or even acknowledging Jerome at all throughout the show which was kind of weird.

One key thing right away was that this was the first NIN show I've ever seen where there was absolutely no moshing, slamming, crowd surfing, ect in the pit. The Bowl security basically passed out flyers when you entered saying if you did any of this stuff, you'd get booted from the show and I think that really put a damper on the pit crowd. Not that anyone could really jump around in their tiny little boxes, mind you but I'm sure it was a buzz kill for those in the pit. On the positive side, the asshole factor was pretty low and the crowd was a really varied mix of fans, long hairs, goths, tattoo nuts, etc including a lot more decent looking women then I've seen at any previous NIN show.

The first 1/3rd of the show was pretty hot and while I'm not 100% into the slightly different version of "Burn" they do this tour, I was real happy to hear that song as it's one of my favorites. It seems NIN has two slightly different setlists, the big difference that it's either Starfuckers or Reptile and Suck which is what we got which was fine by me. As a previous poster mentioned, we got a couple less songs then most shows this leg, no doubt due to the cerfew of 11:00pm.

The audience was reasonably into most of the show considering the limitations of the venue but the middle part with 3 songs performed (or sampled, heh) with the band behind the white curtain with movies projected on it of movie images of microbes, insects, birds primates then humans leading to all the bad shit mankind does to himself and the planet grew heavy handed after a few minutes and kind of killed the momentum which really didn't pick back up until the last few songs of the show. This segment seemed to show a new side of Reznor who appears to be moving away from his shtick of rejected angry psycho to more of a world weary observer of the human condition and the planet's ecology at large.

"Hurt" which was performed by Reznor alone on keyboards has regretfully become a big sing along anthem complete with hand waving and lighters like some sorta alterna-Stairway to Heaven. Trent shoulda said something like "this is a song Johnny Cash stole from me, I'm stealing it back."

Reptile and Suck back to back got back a lot of momentum and energy that the show and crowd seemed to lose up to that point. Head Like a Hole as always ended the show and right away the house lights came and there was no doubt that was it for the show at 11pm straight up.

Overall, a good show but not truly great like the best NIN shows I saw during the DS tour, especially the Hollywood Palace show on 4/19/94. I'm kicking myself that I didn't make the trip down to San Diego during the club leg earlier thsi year as I'm sure that was a hotter show.

It really was awesome to see Jerome playing!! I kept saying that was him and people around me kept insisting it was Josh! LOL I am so glad I am not crazy after all!!

It was a great show, but I too was surprised to hear Head Like a Hole so soon; however, the rules of the Bowl strictly enforce curfew. Speaking of enforced, so was the security in the pool section whom would absolutely not allow anyone to stand up in the front until the show actually started, at which time many people ran....me included!! It was incredible to be up against the barrier without feeling as if I might die, though I did miss the intensity of pit more than I expected! I only hope Trent felt the love, and realized that the pool section crowd were being closely watched, and there seemed to me to be an impending threat of being forced back to our chairs; I know he really draws a lot from the crowd. Overall the crowd seemed really into it, and the fans in the "nose bleed" section were LOUD and really into it which was great! It appeared that this show may have been sold out?

QOTSA were great too!!! I saw them in San Diego and was a bit shocked at the lack of response by the crowd there, but in last night many seemed really into it and/or at least gave them the respect they deserve. I really enjoy this band!

I don't think anything will ever beat the San Diego show at Soma for me, but it was a great show.....as always!

Yeah, the show was deniately sold out. There was a little chalkboard on one of the security rooms that had the door open as people left after the show that had the attendence figure for the night and it was something like 13,500+ and said "sold out!"

That is great to hear!! I also agree with you regarding the Hollywood Bowl. It is an absolutely gorgeous venue, but it is not ideal for the type of energy the is evoked at a NIN show. I would have loved it if he played three or four nights at at the Universal Amphitheater as he did for the Downward Spiral tour.......I just dated myself

We had no trouble parking, we took the advice of the people on this board and parked at the garage at Hollywood and Highland and took the bus. It was fast and cheap $8 total for bus and garage) We arrived at 6pm, chilled out until Autolux came on. I thought they were ok, the singer's voice reminded me of the guy from the Ocean Blue. Next, QOTSA, again ok and they are a pretty good rock and roll band with a So-Cal flavor (don't know where they are from) but I was there only for one band, NIN.

It was a beautiful night, a beautiful venue for beautiful music by a kick ass band. My seats were not very good, about half way up, thank goodness for the video screens, but I cannot even put into words how good this show was. I was pleasantly surprised to see Jerome.

I have two constructive criticisms:

1. Right Where it Belongs is my favorite song off of WT and one of my overall faves, and ya know what Trent, I want to see the emotion in your face when you are singing it, not a bunch of images of war and dead bodies, including babies. Put that on the video monitors and the panels in the back. Give me a choice, don't ram it down my throat. During Beside You In Time, the images and lighting worked for me but not during RWIB.

2. Please play 2 hours, the set was too short. The band is so tight and the energy was unbelievable. I did not want it to end.

My observations:
I love all the slower NIN songs but before Hurt was played I said to Rick (the nice guy I met who was dancing beside me all night), I really hope they don't play any more slow songs because the enegy was so high and then Hurt was played and somehow it worked for me. It was just amazing.

After last night I wish I would have bought GA tickets because of how rocking it was.

Also, With Teeth is not one of my favorite cds, it ranks last on my NIN list however, all the up tempo songs that were played live were so much better because they were heavier (like Terrible Lie) I wish somehow Trent could capture that in the studio, ya know give the songs more of an heavy edge. It would be great to have a live cd from this tour for that very reason, to have the WT stuff edgier.

My personal highlights: Suck and Wish, just awesome.

I cannot wait, three more weeks until Tampa and then Orlando. I hope to get Down in It at one of those shows.

Lastly, I could go all fan girl and tell you how incrediably good Trent looked and how I kept thinking how much I would love to just thank him for all his music has given to me but, I won't.

I just love going to the Bowl and I love that part of Hollywood. I've had many wonderful times over in that area at various functions. We parked down the hill off Hollywood Blvd. in a "club lot." No problems getting out.

Everyone was on their feet for most of the show and dancing around and singing. There was a lot of positive energy from the audience. Everyone seemed so ... happy! The sound was just fantastic and the performance was tight. I enjoyed every song. We liked the lighting, the fog stuff and the screen images.

*Reptile* ruled the night.

During *Closer* I thought to myself, "hmmm, I wonder if the neighbors are enjoying the show?"

It was one of my favorite rock concerts ever!

Props to my lovely friend who is always willing to go to NIN shows with me. That's a lot of love.

Trent looked cute.

YES! The Hollywood Bowl has always been famous for hosting superstar bands when they come to Hollywood. The Beatles, The Stones, Jane's Addiction, etc...And yes, it IS a beautiful venue. But, the place was designed for an orchestra. And, as such, the sound is the most incredible you'll ever hear. Every seat in the house provides you with a beautiful place to "listen" to the music. Everything becomes clear in the mix - the vocals, the instruments, the keyboards/samples, everything.

I went to the SOMA show over Memorial Day also, and while the performance was incredible there, the sound kinda sucked - it was an old converted movie theater and the sound was bouncing all over the place stepping on itself.

The bad thing about the Bowl is that for actually SEEING the band, just about every seat behind the boxes SUCKS. The stage seems a mile away even when you're sitting in the middle of the bowl (as I was). But, I was happy to go see this show for the "overall" visual aspect - the projections, the backgrounds, the lights, it was all framed perfectly.

And, yes, also the damn Bowl has that stupid 11:00pm curfew because they don't want to "bother" the rich neighbors with late nite shenanigans. I was there for the classic Courtney Love/Jane's Addiction show a few years ago, and stupid crack whore Courtney Love played well beyond her alotted time....to the point where security had to DRAG her off the stage. It sucked, cause Jane's had to cut THEIR set short.

In my opinion, the HEADLINER should be the ones playing the FULL SET, and cut the opening acts short. I could have used 2-3 less songs from QOTSA for example.

I had heard rumours that NIN would play a 2hr15min set, but I was disappointed when the show started at 9:25pm. So, the whole set was only 1hr35min! So, that meant the songs were played in rapid succession with no in-between banter. I usually like to hear Trent make his little comments - or at least say "What's up Hollywood?" No such luck due to the time constraints.

Anyway, I also thought this was a replacement drummer, and I was very impressed with how quickly this replacement drummer was able to learn the changes and the songs, etc....I find out that it's Jerome and now it makes sense. But, I share the sentiment from previous posters that I hope the doctor's in L.A. gave him a green light and that he's not being put in danger as Trent stated a few days ago.

NIN impresses again! Such powerful, rocking music with an "art" element. I can't wait for another show.

The show last night was amazing, I don't care what people say about the Bowl, the show was awesome! I didn't have good seats, I was in section S, way in the back but I was right in the middle, a good enough view to see all the crazy shit on the stage. The only downer of the show was the people behind us, this girl would shut up. She was laying down, taking up everyone's seat while her ugly butt was laying there. One of the guys was standing up in front of his seat sat down during the little movie that was showing up there. Then we all hear this scream, this girl was already drunk and during QOTSA, she was just begging for attention, so she made the biggest deal out of this. She would shut up, the guy apologized and everything but she would shut up. Everyone just kept on staring at her, I could tell he loved the attention even though she made that guy feel like crap. I felt like bashing her head on the seats. I hate the back of the bowl, too many drunks, but I love the View! Again, the show was awesome and my parking was awesome, we got there like around 8 and saw the stack parking across the bowl and it was $18! FOR STACK PARKING! Everyone in our car said fuck that, so then we get lost and end up in Mulholland Drive. After we found our way back I knew there would be cheaper parking down by Hollywood and Highland, we paid $7 for awesome parking and we got to see Michael Jackson and Anikin Skywalker. I loved our parking as much as I loved the SHOW! Trent gave awesome performance, it seemed kindda fast pace but I knew we had to be out of there by 11. THE WHOLE FREAKING experience WAS AWESOME!

I really wish the audience would have responded more, it seem like trent was pushing for more from the audience I've seen them more than ten times now, and I have to say this was the best I've seen them on stage... trent's energy was amazing ... it great on the part of the band ... if-I about the crowed...

Yeah, that's something I didn't comment on, which was the sound was excellent even though I was way off to the side on the 900's level of the boxes. I just hate being cooped up in the fucking little boxes though.

HA! I was also at that Jane's show. Man, I was so pissed that they had to cut their set down. As it was, the show was amazing with the quick Porno for Pyros reunion. I was willing to give Cuntny Love a break and judge her soly on whatever quality her music has but after her attention-seeking bullshit that night, fuck her!

Not really. The 11/1/05 show didn't get "Getting Smaller" which has been in the sets the last couple weeks that include Reptile and Suck.

As it stands, the show was fine. I would have loved to hear a few of my own personal favs get played, but what are the odds of Perfect Drug, Heresy and Last showing up, huh?

Well, what can I say? Thank goodness I finally got to see a full show (After the misfortune of San Diego)

We had a great time. Parking was a bitch and a half but we were onne of the first ones to leave so it only took like 20-30min getting out of there tops. We got there at about 3:30p and heard most of the soundcheck, etc. As far as I could tell there was no sort of M&G or ay "extra" Spiral goodies. Speaking of The Spiral, it was a little stressful gettig our tickets. First the person that actually had the tickets was stuck in traffic or something ridiculous like that. Then, we got up there to pick up our tickets and they could not find them! Brandi was very sympathetic, but it was kinda like....uh wtf? We were told to just stand aside until they could figure it out. Turned out the tickets, (which were purchased through my bf's Spiral account but paid with my credit card) were under my name instead of his. Odd, but okay...whatever?

Got into the veue early which I do have to say is awesome because there's no lines at the merch stands and we were able to get drinks before the masses (17,000+) were allowed in. We found our seats and then we decided to go up to the Rooftop Grill. I wish I would have known about making reservations!! However, after we got sat it wsa the PERFECT way to start the night. We had drinks and the mosst excellent (if not slightly overpriced) food. A bottle of champagne for me later and we sat down to hear the second half of Autolux.

The pool circle seats were excellent! I found it refreshing to not have to deal with a pit (for once) and be able to really experience NIN up close without having an arm in my side and sweat all over me all night.

I thought the performance was overall full of great energy. There seemed to have been some minor technical problems with Trent's mic, as discussed earlier in this thread, but to me, it didn't take away from the experience....it only adds to the raw 'realness' of the band. I would be yawning if I saw a band perform perfectly everytime. I was a little dissapointed about the setlist, but I was happy to see Jerome and the drums and to hear Reptile.

I agree that the setlist was probably shortened to accomodate the venue. TR did mention this was anegative setback to arena tours.

And I was sooo close! Although, I'd have to say....I don't think I would ever go to a Bowl performance if I had anything further back then pool circle or first 3 rows of terrace. I mean, those ppl behind us were like a mile away! *shrugz*

Oh and a big FUCK YOU to the security guard who freaked out about a Zippo. lol.

Arrived in Hollywood at around 4:30, was very surprised to see there was absolutely no traffic. While I did get caught in an absolute nightmare trying to leave, I only paid $10 for parking pretty far down on Hollywood blvd., so the only real drawback was a 20 minute walk to the bowl [no big deal, though.]

The show was incredible. I was very surprised to hear how much better the stuff off "With Teeth" sounded live. There was a whole new energy added to those songs last night.

I was very happy to hear "The Only Time" breakdown in "Closer". I was blown away by it at Coachella, and was equally impressed here.

I can now officially die happy having heard "Eraser" and "Reptile" live. That to me made up for a somewhat shorter show.

And, about that- I, too, was a bit dissapointed and surprised to hear "Head Like A Hole" so soon. Still, it wasn't too big of a deal, we still got about 22 songs, which is more than a lot of bands play during a show.

On a side note- was anyone else around the L section last night? There was some jackass behind me who got pissed off when people booed the image of George Bush on screen during the "Right Where It Belongs" video section. After the booing stopped, him and a friend started chanting "USA! USA!" Ok, that was obnoxious enough, but then he decided to yell out "fuck the poor" during another part of the video clip, and during "Hurt" thought it would be absolutely hilarious to scream, "drug addiction rocks" as loud as he could.

Other than that the crowd was pretty cool all night, no problems really, and being so far back didn't suck in the least. The screens helped a lot, and you really just need to focus on the light show and the music. If you go to a show and worry about your seats the whole time then you're going to miss the whole experience.

The show ripped in my opinion. They really have improved the lighting just since the San Diego show. Jerome was in top form. I also noticed that he plays stand-up bass during Right Where it Belongs.

ok, now comes time for a real post. Well, everyone pretty much touched based on everything. This show marked my first time being at the bowl. I enjoyed it very much for it being a outside venue. Personally, i hate shows that are done in the fashion because i feel you lose some of the effects from the lighting but the bowl proved to still provide a good sound and feel for a live concert. Autolux was in full force and i REALLY enjoyed their set, more so then the other shows. It really felt like they were getting into the swing of things and it was nice to see more people in their seats watching them then the other shows. Queens still bug the shit outta me and i sat down during their set. I really feel this tour shouldnt have them on it as an opener. Personally, i find the lead singer to be an ass and he recycles the same lame ass jokes at each show. "This guy looks like hes seen more dickheads then weekends" blah *rolls eyes* Overall i feel this show was really good, but we seriously need a change in the setlist. I dunno, maybe seeing them so many times is taking away from my whole experience. *shurgs* anyways, ill see ya'll in Oakland and San Diego!

PS. To the drunk girl standing next to me.....please, for the sake of who ever stands next to you and your boyfriend at the next concert, DO NOT stick your hands down his pants and juggle his junk through out the whole show......thats just nasty.......

I went home in complete awe. The show was soooo amazing, and the pool circle seats we had (thanks to the Spiral) were awesome. I was right up front the whole time and took some beautiful pictures. I found the set to be perfect. I wasn't expecting "Reptile" so when I heard the first few cords, I lost it. The crowd was full of energy, and much more comfortable without the slamming and shoving. I enjoyed every single moment of every single song. An added note: Jerome looked really healthy, he fucking rocked. Hope everyone had a blast.

* I managed to snag myself a little souvenier, I got TRENT"S guitar pick and one of Jerome's drum stick's* and no you won't see it on Ebay!!!

Hollywood Bowl is a terrible venue if you're not sitting up front, as far as visuals go, but aurally, it doesn't get any better, even if you're in the eyes, ears and nosebleeds.

I'm surprised at how many people don't do basic research as to the parking situation there, and how (unless you're physically handicapped) parking there is a moronic mistake. They offer so many shuttle lots around L.A., that you'd have to be a fool not to use them. The cost is also much friendlier to the wallet.

Finally, to the show itself.

Autolux was the worst opening band I've ever seen in my life, and that covers a lot of ground.

Queens of the Stone Age was ok, although considering the curfew situation at the venue, I wish they had played a little bit less and let NIN had more stage time. A lot of their sounds just sound the same, only allowing a few to truly stand out.

NIN was great. Absolutely amazing show, if only disappointing due to the shortened setlist. The energy and power was (cliche alert) raw as hell, and never let up. I've always been a little lukewarm to the new album (as I think most fans have been), but the live performances of most of the songs elevated them, and now I'm enjoying With Teeth in a new light.

I hope they come back and play a venue like the Forum, which would allow for pits, as well as people to enjoy the show from the seats.

OK, since this was my first time going to a NIN concert, I have to say that it was one of the best concert experiences I have had so far. I didn't have the best seats (section M2), but I was able to enjoy myself.

The only problem I had was that there were so many people that were late, they needed help from security trying to find their seats. Other than that the set was great especially during the video montage. I think that sucks that the people in the pool circle weren't allowed to mosh.

The last thing I want to say is that I liked how they played straight on and to the point. Although I would've wanted to hear a couple of more songs. I can't wait for them to come back and hopefully will be able to be in the pit next time around.

My bad on Jerome not playing. I don't know what he looks like, and as was mentioned, Trent didn't say anything about it. Anyway, glad he was ok enough to play last night and I hope that means his troubles are behind him. As for the curfew situation, I'm rather annoyed that QOTSA played as long as they did. While they were playing I kept hoping before each song they'd say "this is our last song" but they just kept playing. They were ok, but I was there to see NIN, so if anyone shoulda shortened their set, it should have been the opening bands. Or hell, start the show earlier then, it was a Saturday after all. The sound was fantastic (except for the mic troubles), but like people said, unless you were right up front, it was pretty far away. I got my Terrace tickets the day they went on sale, and they were decent seats (compared to the poor folks in the back, I'm sure), but it was still pretty far away.

I hope they come back soon, although I realize that's probably unlikely. But maybe the rumored quick release of the next album will happen and they'll be back before you know it. All in all it was no contest, IMO anyway, that the club show was far superior, just because the energy was so much more intense, but I definitely can't complain about getting to see NIN twice in one year

I *heart* Queens of the Stone Age. They were awesome last night. I can't believe they played Fun Machine and I Think I lost my Headache. Troy is just smoking on the guitar. Josh and his Elvis moves are funny as shit. Josh is sush a bullshitter that when he said he was gonna play Fun Machine I couldn't quite be happy.

NIN was good. I think my mind was preoccupied with something else for me to really really enjoy the show. I loved the fact that I could actually dance to Only without getting pushed around.

Very excited to see Jerome behind the drums. I just wish I could see what the fuck he is playing during Right Where It Belongs.

A few thoughts...

Autolux - I'm going to take bets on this one, what do you guys think? I say they snorted 30 lines of heroin each, but i dont know, maybe they got some other kind of cocktail going. Maybe they were in a k-hole. Im not talking cat tranquilizer here, I am saying horse tranquilizer or something. No seriously... it was like watching a garage band gone wrong. I've done a lot of drugs in my life, but i don't think ive ever seen a group of people as fucked up as they were.

Queens - I dont really remember much... I just kept staring at the keyboard players rack the entire time. I think i might have caught an elvies impersenator onstage or something like that, not sure though. I was in section F1 (half way back, right after box seating) and I could make out her tits easier then i could see her face.

NIN - Awsome show. To be honest I only went because it was a 5$ cab ride for me. I thought it was going to suck because it was at the bowl, but i was wrong. The set list needs to change, seriously. I am tired of hearing them open up with Love is not enough... it just doesnt work Trent... I'm not dising you or anything, but no ones seems to ever get into it. Eraser, RWIB and BYIT were fucking unreal! I was in San Diego and it sucked ass that the concert was cut short at eraser, it is one of my favorite songs. RWIB was fucking beautiful, i started to tear during it. It sounded so fucking amazing live. The random image of the old guy jumping out of the pool though made me laugh. The show was cut short and that sucked, it left me wanting more, but all in all It was much better then i had hoped. The crowd was into it, we couldnt do anything but just stand there, but the vibe was in the air anyway.

Now, for the love of god! Trent will you change the setlist a little? The Becoming, Every day is exactly the same, Happiness and Slavery.. do you need some more suggestions? I will be happy to give you some.

Ill see them next in DC and then SD!

The Hollywood Bowl is the last place I will ever go to see a rock concert again. The traffic and parking situation was a mess. After getting off at Highland, it took us almost an hour to get parking. By that time, all that was left was a $40.00 stacked parking lot and then a five block walk to the venue. Some people had to park even further away. Not a super big deal, but a pain none the less. They need to bulid some kind of multi level parking stucture across the street charge $20.00 and be done with it. It was just riduculous. Luckily for us, the show hadn't already started. We made it just in time. Nothing was gonna ruin it for me.

This was my first time seeing NIN and I was extremely pleased. The evening was nice and cool. Our seats were in section G2. They were all long benches that everyone pretty much had to get out of just to let you in. But still decent seats with a clear view, no body elbowing you and much more comfortable then regular seats. There were 4 big screen monitors so you don't miss any of the show no matter where you were. For the exception of the lame tweakers in the row in front of us who had to keep borrowing lighters from everyone to light up another one, the crowd around us were cool. Not overly enthuiastic, but cool.

As the show began, a long while drape is down so you can see shadows of the band but no lights came on. Technical difficulties I guess. No matter, when it and the lights finally came up, everyone got into it. Trent look very "Healthy" and happy to be there. I'm glad he got it together because it shows, his perfomance was amazing. For me, it was really...perfect. There is no other way for me to describe it. That man is a genius...he was everything I'd hoped he's be and more. I coudn't believe Jerome was there. I think Trent should have at least mentioned something about him for the fans who wanted to know. Alot of his perfomance sounded like it was was looped, but again...it didn't matter, at least he was there. WOW!

There was absolutely no pit...WHAT??? I may have had to grow up, but I don't want my rockstars or my concerts to...that's kinda the whole point of rock...isn't it? But that's just like the curfew thing I guess, I just don't get it... but the sound at the Bowl was incredible, crisp and clean, the mix in that place is just the best I've ever heard anywhere. I was bummed out that they ended the show so quickly, I could have stayed all night, and I'm sure they would have too.

After paying an arm and a leg for these tickets through a broker, having to sit in traffic, walk 5 block there and 5 blocks back, wait 30 more mins for other people to arrive to get out of our spot and ...I went home, snuggled into my bed, thanked God for great music and had a wonderful dream of a NIN concert that had a great big pit and went on for days that I had VIP parking for and I woke up with absolutley no regrets and the memory of a night I'll never forget...

well, next time i think you should get to the venue a little bit earlier. I parked across the street from the venue and only paid $15 for parking. The later you show up the more parking becomes. Its plain and simple and it happens to just about every venue in LA.

My seats were as far back as possible, but dead center. I made sure if Trent looked all the way back he'd see a small ant person dancing along to every song! I could easily hear what my friends would say without them having to shout. This meant I couldn't scream every line to his songs without me feeling giddy. Not that I wasn't feeling giddy the entire time! Excellent show!

Yes, the band needs to learn more songs. Most of it was the same from when I saw them at SOMA in San Diego. Glad to hear Sin this time around. After Head like a Hole ended, the lights came on immeditaly. Like... BOOM! LIGHTS! SHOW'S OVER! Was just twisting that dagger in my heart already there when I realized the show was going to end from hearing HLAH.

I envy everyone who had a closer view of that female keyboardist's rack from Queens of the Stone Age. My jaw kept hitting the floor each time the cameramen had her up on the screens. I didn't even need to see it was Jerome playing. I knew he was there soon as they started playing. He did great as usual, hope he's okay.

Another great NIN concert even though my seats were as bad as you can get. Can't wait to get a third chance to see them live.

good show. not happy with the seats i got through the spiral. i am used to seeing nin from the front of the pit. i missed the pit energy. last night was a beautiful night though, and it was nice not to be a sweaty mess after the show.

being farther back let me see the full video show for the first time. the visuals are intense. is it just me or was the video ending of beside you in time different than the first shows? the glass breaking effect was cool.

above all, the sound was great. good destruction at the end, too. i liked how everyone destroyed their shit except jeordie. he just set his guitar down on the ground and walked off.

I drove down from san francisco friday night assuming I had those Terrace box seats you promised me, got to Hollywood Bowl at like 3:30 when you said you'd be there, called you and you said you were in Anaheim and would be there at 4:30,,, that was it... Me and my friend sat around for 3 hours waiting for you to call, I even called you twice and left a message, no reply... Thats pretty shitty of you to let me wait like that after coming all the way down from the Bay Area...

But you know what,, I gave up on you around 6 and went up to the box office in a desperate attempt to see if maybe they released any extras...

and I scored 3rd row in the pool circle, I watched the show from the barracade all night, right up front, I could have spit on the band. Fucking Awesome...

So anyways,, me and my friend thank you for being a flake...

I didnt sell the tickets to anyone else though, I already felt bad enough, I felt that being short 218$ is is adequate punishment for me. Now I feel ok though knowing that you got pool tickets, geeze you must have been right next to me, I was third row too. It was nice to see NIN in a small venue, just look at all the "grassy fields" behind my seats.

I saw Josh Homme before the show. He was making a movie, and I think he was trying to get the drummer from Autolux to be in it.

I hate the bowl. That place is stupid. They design it so that you spill beer all over your legs and fall down all over the place. Maybe that's just me though.

I'll be honest, I passed out for most of the show because I was wasted. Sometimes I suck at life. I woke up for Burn, because unlike TIMP it's my fav song ever, and I dance to it even in my sleep.

Even though I couldn't see shit and didn't hear too much, they still rocked. I just hate being more than 10 feet away...guess I'm spoiled.

Even though the sound was good I still hate the Hollywood Bowl, fuck that place.

The Hollywood Bowl show, October One.

Parked at the Metro Station at Universal City, for free. Rode the train to Hollywood/Highland Station. Fifteen minute walk up the hill to the Bowl. To all those who parked at the Bowl and or had to pay a ton for shitty parking: HA HA HA.

Autolux: A band with a lot of potential if they will allow themselves to grow as musicians. The drummer was really good but the vocalist needs to work on his singing. The noiser bits were great and the end of the first song, with that strange stop/start noise was fucking killer.

QOTSA: Holy shit. Awesome fucking rock band. The setlist was amazing, everything flowed together, including the improv stuff, and the breakdown in "No One Knows" was bloody terrific. I do have to say that the keyboardist was so fucking sexy...I hope someone took a few photos of her during the show. Her sexuality was a great counterpoint to Josh's restless sensuality. Josh was in fine form tonight and I laughed my ass off at some of his comments.

NIN: No words to describe how touched I was by their art. Intense is probably the best word that I can come up with for it. A few quick notes: Love Is Not Enough was a great opener which perfectly melded with You Know What You Are which was unbelieveably brutal. This was the best version of Terrible Lie that I have ever heard; TR's and Aaron's guitar playing on this kicked up the levels of rage...Burn is remarkable live; this version starts out very experimental with Alessandro doing vocal effects using a kaos padd then gets really beefy when the guitars slam in. Eraser was better in this live setting then on record; the intro seemed to go on longer than other versions I've heard and ended more visceral then ever. Right Where It Belongs was NOT version2 like everyone has been saying but a different version altogether; the instrumentation and melodies are very different. Beside You In Time is my favourite NIN song and this live version was very stripped down; the visuals for this (hell, for all three) were incredible. Only gets turned into more of a rock song in a live setting and Wish blew out my ear for a few seconds toward the end. Hurt was so cathartic, for everyone in the audience; that people were singing to this was so joining to me, and hopefully connecting, TR seemed to feel it too because at the end of the song, he just looked up at all of us, just for a moment. Head Like A Hole though out my voice for the rest of the evening.

I am sorry that the Bowl had that curfew and looking back I do wish that QOTSA hadn't played so long - they should have halved their show so that NIN could play a fuller set.

For KT and I, I think the show was pretty damned close to perfect.

Everyone's pretty much covered everything already, but here's my short take on it.

No driving/parking hassles. I took the MetroRail to Hollywood. We got a room at the Comfort Inn down the street, just a 10 minute walk to the Bowl. (It's already been said, but to people bitching about the parking and traffic, really, just a little bit of research or reading of the Upcoming Shows thread could have told you that it's something you need to plan for.)

Damn near perfect seats, thanks to The Spiral. Second row center. And second from the rail at the center once NIN started. Great view, but with room to move around. (Though I did miss the energy of a real pit a little bit, though not the bruises)

Perfect weather, not too hot, not too cold.

Great sound, great performances. OK, Autolux doesn't do much for me, but I still enjoyed their set. And QOTSA may not be great art, but I like Josh's singing and they are a fun rocking band to dance to. KT & I decided right off that we didn't care if everyone around was us sitting, we were going to stand up and dance and have fun during their set. And we did.

And yes, maybe the NIN set could have been longer, maybe there could have been more new songs, but really, the performance was flawless, lots of energy, great sound, great lights and visuals. After the San Diego show, I was really anticipating the Eraser/Right Where It Belongs/Beside You in Time segment, and I was not disappointed. And finally getting to see Only performed, and yelling "There is no fucking you". Priceless.

So when you put it all together, this was one of my top shows ever. Really.

I have to agree with a lot of other posters that it was a great show, but nto nearly as great as the club show I went to in San Diego. The Hollywood bowl sucks for a heavy show as the sound just doesn't do the music justice. I'd almost prefer an arena (though I hate arena's) to the bowl. The visuals for the show were awesome though. It seemed that the people working the boards didn't really know what they were doing. All in all a great show, but far from the best NIN show I've been to, but it's not for a lack of energy from the band at all. Stupid venue.

Show was okay. My friends and I were split up which sucked but the seats Jennabunnie and I had weren't too bad. In the terrace dead center. We were the only ones in our section standing and rocking out thought which was odd. Also had drunk douchebag sitting in the chair next to me rubbing my fucking legs half the show. Sick fuck. Was a little annoyed the cut the setlist short but wtf can you do. Just saw Tori a few weeks ago at the Greek and the same thing happened to her. Sucks.

We didn't even watch Queens. I know that Josh is trying to be funny but seriously I am fucking over his asshole attitude. What a fucking redneck piece of shit. I used t be pretty indifferent to their music but since this tour has started I have began to loathe them thanks to him. Although, it is fun to watch Troy...

We missed seeing so many of you. I hate places that big and we got there late. Did run into a lot of unexpected people though which was nice. One of them being a certain guitar player I have a fondness for so that was a little jolt in my evening.

Speaking of cockslaps, since when is this fucking forum full of them? Whats with discussing the "racks" of the female musicians? What is this, 7th grade? Seriously.

Just keep trying on DIME. I just got one a couple of days ago and it only took about 15 minutes before it would give me a sign up. I'm downloading the Hollywood Bowl now and it's screaming fast.

I totally agree. I think I saw the word "tits" somewhere too which made me cringe.

Carla (Autolux) had an interesting raw intensity to her playing. Very fun to watch. This is what I focused on and appreciated.

Lets talk about that instead.

I flew in from Dallas for this show because I had a feeling it would be a can't-miss. I was right. The sound, the venue, the beautiful night -- all good. Better than good. Magical. Even better than Hollywood, because it was all real.

Not much to add, except that I never thought I'd even be within sniffing distance of the tickets Kyselina and I got through the Spiral. What a payoff for that investment.

And those of you who felt nostalgic for old-skewl pit action? Meanwhile, I kept catching elbows in the head, neck, and temple from The Huge Guy Making Hand Gestures. Probably got beaned enough for you and me both. Next time you can stand next to him, m'kay?

i paid 18 dollars for parking and 10 dollars for a bottled heineken poured into a cup.... bottles are 12 ounces, the cups were like 20 ounces.... so it looked like half a beer. but i got it delivered by a waiter. then i realized you can get cheaper beer if you go outside the bowl.

overall, great show. i was gonna get a hot dog for 3.75 (reasonable i guess) but they ran out. they told me they had cheeseburgers for 7.50. fuck that. my friend got one, it was like an am-pm burger.

so after waiting in the stacked parking i tracked down the street dog man. bacon wrapped grilled onion deliciousness.

well this was my fisrt show and it was fucking amazing the sound quality did not suprise it was fucking amazing , the set list was cool but could have better at least some songs could have been replaced .. ERASER , BESIDES YOU IN TIME and RIGHT WHERE IT BELONGS left me speech less..anywho it was the best night of my life !!!! QOTSA and autolux were very good as well

I'm a long time fan of NIN - been a consistent favorite of mine for about 9-10 years (since I was 12-13 years old). I have always been an avid live music fan as well. Throughout high-school I saw probably every band I could want to, with the unfortunate exception of Soundgarden, Rage, and NIN - all on my "I need to see them before I die" list. Since that time I have seen Audioslave twice - including them doing several Rage/Soundgarden covers - a poor substitute for the latter but somewhat satisfying and the best I'm going to get for a long while in that category.

Saturday night fulfilled a very important dream of mine to see the music of Nine Inch Nails performed live. I am not a Nine Inch Nails afficianado like many on this board - this was my first time seeing the band so I can't compare this show to others. I will say that, from the perspective of someone who loves live music and simply loves NIN - Saturday night's performance was incredible.

Yes, I did notice that I was only one of two or three in my section (G2 - basically the center of the whole place) consistently singing along and moving to the music, but to be honest NOTHING could detract from my experience of this event. The pure energy that Trent exuded from the stage was amazing - especially considering how long he has been doing this.

The production on the show was simply perfect - I have never seen a band take such complete care in the visual aspect of a live performance. I did notice a few technical blips in the sound (i.e. Trent's mic going out in Closer) but nothing that's really worth reporting.

I will forever be impressed by two major points:
1. Hearing "Terrible Lie," "Sin," and "Head Like a Hole" reinterpreted so effortlessly into 2005. This is not a nostalgia tour, it is a genuine performance of great material. This music that was released 16 years ago sounds just as fresh today.

2. I went to this show with my girlfriend who was a skeptic - not a fan at all - only knew Closer and The Hand that Feeds (didn't even know Hurt to be honest) - and is in no way into industrial, metal or any other type of "heavy" music. This show absolutely floored her - I was expecting complaints and boredome (though I made it clear that neither would be tolerated) but she absolutely loved it.

This show delivered more than I could have hoped for..... the only problem now is I NEED to see them again.

Yah there were a couple douchebags like that. They were from like 7 rows back. It pissed me off that those dickheads didnt stay in their assigned area. It was unfair to people who were in like the 2nd and thrid row. One of those drunk guys was falling on the girl i was with cuz she was in the aisle seat and i had to push him away. he said sorry, but it was just stupid that he didnt stay where he was assigned. There was another guy near us that lit up a joint right when NIN started and started dancing all Club KIIS FM style in the aisle. Come on, its a god damn NIN show!!!!! Then this fat drunk guy started trying to rub up against the gril i was with, so we switched places(i took the aisle spot) and needless to say, he drifted away. Its stuff like that that kinda makes me wish that they didnt serve alcohol there.

fucking amazing show, sat in garden row, section 32 1st boxes dead center behind pool circle. One of the greatest shows off my life. The visuals were amazing and sound was superb. I saw nails back in 2000 at the pond, 2005 at the joint vegas, at coachella, at the soma diego, and at the previous cancelled cox show. This show blew those out the water,maybe because I had the best seats ever in my life without all you freaky fucks sweatin and breathing all over me. I was into the whole goth thing back in high school and a part of college, but i finally had to join the real world. So glad trent is finally acting his age and dropped the fishnets and lipstick, i did like the corn starch though. It's not cool anymore. DOn't get me wrong i like black with the best of you, but come on. the only thing i dislike about nails is they have the ugliest fans in the world. I have been to a million different shows and they are hands down the worst. Grow up people. Hey i love u all anyways. and doesn't it make you feel better.

Just curious: does anyone else think it's odd that they only played one song* off The Fragile? I mean, it's the only double album they have, yet they played three times as many songs off of Broken than they did off The Fragile, and Broken only has 6** songs to choose from. Is Trent sick of The Fragile and should we not expect to hear much from it on future tours when newer material comes out?

* I don't count "The Frail" as a separate song from "The Wretched" in this case, even though it technically is its own song on the CD

** I don't count "Pinion" or "Help Me I Am In Hell" as their own songs either in this case

The reason that Trent isn't playing many songs off of 'The Fragile' is that the last arena tour was all about 'The Fragile', so there are some different songs he wants to play this go round. I too would like to see @ least 3-4 Fragile songs, bu tI'm sure that future tours would include more material from T/F.

TDS is by far my favorite NIN album, but even so, I still think every single NIN album (and Broken as well) are some of the best albums I own by anyone. I personally could list at least 5 songs off of each of the four studio albums that I would really, really love to see Trent play. I know NIN's last tour was for The Fragile, but that was 5 years ago, so it's not like Trent should be all burned out on playing stuff off that album. Even if that's the case, why not play songs off of it that he didn't play so much on the last tour? Play "Somewhat Damaged" or "We're In This Together" or "Where Is Everybody?" Quit playing "Starfuckers, Inc" (is there anyone who's really a huge fan of that song in comparison to other stuff from that album? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that's one of their favorites off that album. Am I wrong?). I mean, The Fragile was a double-disc, so there should be plenty of stuff for Trent to pick off that to play without feeling like he's burned out on those songs.

Trent should be mixing it up more in general anyway, he's got too many "staples" that are always there on every tour at every show. While it is nice to assume that there are people in the audience who've never seen the band live before, and as such would like to hear "Wish" and "Head Like a Hole" and "Hurt" or whatever live for the first time; isn't one of the benefits of doing two different tours that you can mix things up a lot more and play some of the lesser-used songs?

Don't you think Trent should play whatever he feels like playing...He's been doing a damn fine job in my opinion... Im pretty sure he'll mix it up in the up coming tours, but personally, anything that man plays is worth watching and listening to in complete awe...

I know im a little late on posting this but better late then never. it was an amazing show!!! It was good to see jerome back behind the drums after what had happened in San Degio. The make up show is coming up and you know im gonig to be there. Well my day started off well, we left my house around 1:30 and tried to get at the Bowl as early as possible. Traffic was just a mess, Hollywood was just hell!!! for some reason the closed off Highland and thats the street that you need to take to get to the Bowl. We arived around 3 or 3:30. a few fans were there sitting around and waiting. The spiral stand wasn't up yet when we got there. We were able to hear autolux's sound check and Nine Inch Nails soundcheck, they played Wish, The Frail/The Wretched, The Line Begins to Blur and Gave Up. It sounded great even though we can barely hear it. We had to wait for my friend to arrive so that i could give him his tix, and for others to arrive from work/home. Once we got in I bought a poster for $20. We found our boxes and was shocked on how bad the chairs were. Then again shocked by having wine offered to us, never in my life have i had wine offered at a concert. Autolux was ok but not really my style, it was just too much nosie for me. Met up with a friend who was wearing a red jacket so he would stand out and it worked, yes it did!!! QOTSA was great, Im a big fan of theres too. Josh was great and that girl on the keyboard was hot!!! she was just jiggling everywhere. Once Nine Inch Nails started I was more then ready. Hell of a show!! I was singing/screaming along to all the songs. The visuals druning Eraser,RWIB and BYIT were amazing, I hope they release a DVD of it all. I wasn't expecting to hear Reptile and Suck but was more then pleased to hear them, they are my fav songs!!!!!! The only thing i didnt like about it all was the seating, we had to share our box with a couple, they must have spent about $100 on beer. The Ladt would leave and come back every ten mins and the only way out was if i moved the chair my friend was useing which was just annyoing while watching Trent. They would argue for nothing then the guy would hit the lady, it was just bad and annoying. Anyways the show finised strong in my opinion. After it was over the was a human jam trying to get out. I was lucky enough to run into two rockstars. The first one was Billy Howerdale from A Perfect Circle, about half the band of APC was there twiggy on stage josh bacstage in case jerome couldnt finish troy who was once in the band, the must of had some sort of runion of some sort. I was able to shake his hand and take a crappy picture with him on my crappy cell. Then not even a second later i spoted John5 who once was in Manson. Im a huge fan of John5 as a guitar player, but I was only able to shake hands with him, no picture with him:( Once all the rockstars left I waved goodbye to my friend carly and we finaly made it to where we parked, which was about an hour wait to leave our beloved parking spot. We met up with our friends at the nearset Dennys and had some late night breakfeast, no tip for our waiter. I made it home around 2 or 3 a.m. not really sure anymore. It was a great day and a great show, can't wait to do it again on Nov 20 when we travle back down to see our make up show.

Uh, please tell me you're joking. I hope you're joking. Look, normally I wouldn't be so mean, I would just point out that you're incorrect, but if you're going to flame someone over it, next time make sure you've got YOUR info right.

The video was directed by Mark Romanek. Trent has never directed any of his videos, or anyone else's for that matter.
