Great show! Had front row seats. Trent was PISSED about the enforced seating, telling us that this was a "historic moment" as it was the last time he'd play an arena with seats on the floor. Then he called the Garden a "fucking shithole". That cracked me up. Props to Aaron for tossing the keyboard into the crowd.

Setlist was similar or the same as Wilkes-Barre, I think, but someone else will post a complete one.

Soundcheck was "Reptile" (as we were walking in), "The Frail", "The Wretched", "Deep", and "Wish".

Great show, great seats on the floor. Loved hearing even deeper, sounded awesome! cortini was crawling onto his keyboard at one point during gave up (i think thats when it happend) But overall a great show, kinda sucked with the seats but whatever.
The sound was great, i was near the soundbooth so it was nice and loud

Gets better and better every time I see him. Loved the visuals during 'Right Where it Belongs,' 'Head Like a Hole,' as well 'Closer,' though personal favoritism still puts 'Something I Can Never Have' right at the top of the list.
I was just very, very impressed. Even with the enforced seating, which, as Greeneyedzeke mentioned, was a severely sore note with Trent, the energy in the Garden was phenomenal; even from back in the Loge seats you could feel the heartache, hatred, or disgust in every note.

Guy's a genius, I tell you. Props.

By the way... any ideas on where to look to find tonight's performance online? Definitely a worthy find, if it is indeed out there.

I am pretty sure that this set list is on the money. Closer had a mix in it if I can remember correctly. This show was great but Trent was pissed that there was no GA (chairs on the floor). I can understand as that it really did take away from the energy show. If you are on the floor or not, you can really tell that there was less energy from the fans (at no fault of theirs). I was lucky enough (as I did not get hit by a chair) to see them at the old Garden which resluted in a ton of charis thrown from the floor. He went so far as to say "You are witnessing a historic event. We will never play here again" and said sorry about the chairs a couple times durring the show.

Well he didnt say "here again" he meant more of he will never play an arena with floor seats ever again, he didnt specificly say that he will never play the garden again, but yeah i really dont blame trent for being pissed.

Been a longtime casual NIN fan, but attended my first show tonight. Greeneyedzeke was right about Trent being pissed - he was pissed and downright chatty about it, too. Quite entertaining, IMHO.

I'm still pleasantly surprised at how good everything sounded in general, and the vocals in particular. I expected the crappy arena acoustics curse to mash everything up, but the sound was clear and distinct. Likewise, I had no idea Trent was that strong a vocalist in a live-with-full-band setting. Most rock singers can't get that kind of tone, strength and control at the start of a tour, much less the end of one.

Oh, and Greeneyedseke: please don't take this personally, but front row seats? I'm obligated to hate your f**ing guts, just on principle, now that I've officially drunk the Kool Aid.

Haha. Sorry. I didn't mean to brag about that. It was just.. really cool. To be fair, I'd argue that this tour is one of the few where front row may actually *not* be optimal. The projected images during "Eraser/Right Where It Belongs/Beside You In Time" basically wash out when you're that close.

I agree... Trent's vocals were absolutely astounding tonight..

I was in the third row; it was hard to see the stuff on the curtain. I'll still take that seat again anytime, though. That $30 to the spiral was worth it for those seats.

the more I see Aaron play live, the more I love him. His animation and signature moves make me have this big grin on my face while watching him. My personal favorite is the kick outs during Terrible Lie!


Also, Josh Homme... you gyrate your hips a lot. Like elvis... you are fun.

The show was brilliant. Tonight, Trent reached his hand through my chest, grabbed my heart and commanded it to beat. It was absolutely amazing. 10x better energy than the D.C. show. (I didn't even expect to go tonight). Also, Trent's commentary on the chairs was hilarious. It's nice to see his witty, pissed-off side.

Man what a show!!Front row, sec C in between Aaron and Trent!! The screen , reminiscent of the 94' tour, was a great surprise! And the way he bitched about the seating on the floor was right on, how could the venue do that? i thought we should have all joined forces and collapsed them or something. . .Just plain retarded. . .In other news, my best bud Travis and i had the opportunity to sit next to two girls (Christina and Bretine) from Dennmark. They were SMOKING HOT, and made the concert that much more enjoyable. They've been following nin across the country since Fort Lauderdale! 38 shows, just crazy!!! Final words:Couldn't.have.been.a.better.show!!!

except i think Twiggy was kinda bored/pissed off. hah. its been really interesting seeing this new live band come together and pull off the old songs as well as the new. you'd never think that they have only been touring for less than a year now. anyway blah blah blah awesome show does anyone have decent ( non - cell phone ) pictures of the show?? love to see them thanks

nin was great tonight! still didnt top my first time @ the centrum though, nothing ever will... i find it funny that at this show and the orpheum show both had seating and they were both in boston, the only shows that have in 2005, from what ive herd. trent was not a happy camper because of this.

loved dead souls and the projector video and eraser was amazing.
trent smashed a guitar in half during terrible lie, i got very excited at this.

Trent was on fire tonight! This is the fifth time I’ve seen them and this tops the list. The above set list seems to be right. The sound check went pretty well. No meet and great, but that’s ok. He brought up the seats during the sound check as well. “Make your selves comfortable” is what I think he said.

Tonight reminds me why life is worth living. The amount of passion he puts into his performance and the quality of all his music is enough to make even a non-fan leave inspired. The screen during Eraser, RWIB and BYIT could not have been better! The sequence of what was being showed during those songs could not have had a stronger impact. This tops the Fragility tour and even the club shows earlier this year. Well done boys!

Oh yea, this isn’t the first time he’s had an issue with the seats in Boston. But unfortunately this time they stayed bolted to the floor.

trent saying "this is a historical event tonight because it's the last time we ever play in an all seated venue... next time i'm reading the contract" line was marvelous. people getting kicked out of the floor (literally being dragged out in some cases) was even funnier.

nice show. glad they did the same long set they did in philly on saturday.

i'd also like to addin there. i spotted the world-famous dresden dolls in attendance. being a big fan of theirs it make me giggle.

highlights, seeing Trent slam his guitar down after Terible Lie, watching Arron North, and seeing Alassondro climb up on his key boards at one point( i think it was during The Collector) Other highlights...the girl that was fucked outta her head, dancing the entire time...the bald guy watching people get their weed taken away. and that muscle head, with the long black trench coat.

loved the comments from Trent, about the seatting and when he said *This is a song i did about 300 hundred years ago with Pigface" that was just awsome. i LOVED Even Deeper, the visuals/lighting during that were really kool. Did anyone else notice the lighting fuck up during Wish? the energy was just fucking there. the whole show was tight and everyone was just On...love Alex, his drumming was perfect!

This was my first show. I've been waiting about 10 years for this. i was only 12 during the fragility tour so i couldn't go. I had balcony seats but it was still so intense. Usually after waiting so long for something it doesn't live up to the hype you expected, but Nine Inch Nails definetly exceeded my expectations. MOTP was so crazy, and i went nuts during suck. "i wrote this song with pigface about 300 years ago" brilliant lol. Trent is a genius. The whole show was incredible. i was speachless afterwords. i am already looking foreword to floor seating during the next tour. thanks for your time. see ya

Great show, shitty venue. It was my first time seeing them and the best time I could given the circumstances and I appreciated that Trent also was not a fan of the seating. The screen stuff was really cool and I also thought the band had a great stage presence; I liked when Alessandro climbed on his keyboards.

He said something like (paraphrasing heavily here) "This is an historic evening. This is the last concert I will ever play in an arena with seats. It's my own fault, I should have checked the contract more carefully and by the time I noticed it was too late. Sorry. <Garden is a sh*thole mumble mumble here>

just got back from the show, my ears will be ringing for a month, but definitely worth it. got there at like 1:30, hoping there would be a soundcheck, and there were at least 50 people there already. at about 3 pm this bald security guy came out and a couple people recognized him from other shows, hinting that there was "occasionally a soundcheck for people who show up early". About an hour later he came back and told us they were doing a soundcheck for premium spiral members only. Several people freaked out because they didn't have their card on them, and for those of you worried, they were allowed in with photo id. We were let into the building, where we waited in line on the steps leading up to the 1st level of seats, where security ushered us down to the front of the stage. The security guy made sure everyone got into a seat, and during the whole soundcheck he was pretty nice overall, but he did yell at this one guy who screamed something about ripping up the seats that if he said that again he would be immediately ejected. Seeing the soundcheck was awesome. The band had a lot of energy throughout, although Aaron North looked pretty exhausted. I guess he was saving his energy for later. After Deep, Trent said"That wasn't such a bad song, now was it?" It was definitely the highlight of the setlist from the soundcheck, although all four of those songs were amazing. After the soundcheck, the security guy came back up again and ushered us up to a section of the seats set aside and explained that we had to remain seated until 5:45(it was about 4:15 then) and that-seriously-we could raise our hands if we had to use the bathroom and a security guard would escort us there. Which seemed a little ridiculous to me, but i guess i shouldn't complain. At about 5:50, we were finally allowed to leave section 106 or whatever it was.

Death From Above 1979 came on at 7 promptly. Haven't really heard them before, they were ok, i guess, but their songs tended to blend together.

Queens of the Stone Age came on at 8. I've been a fan of theirs for several years, so i am somewhat biased, but they were yet again amazing. I've seen them six times and this was the first time I've heard them play Mexicola off the first album, so they're really digging into the catalogue. I've read about Josh coming to NIN shows drunk earlier in the tour, but he was on fire tonight, and his vocals were perfect, unlike a couple of other times i've seen them. Joey Castillo is a madman on the drums, and their new bassist looks like a homeless guy, but he, josh and troy were in sync through the whole performance, with a lot of songs seeming faster than their studio versions, in particular tangled up in plaid and burn the witch. the highlight of the set for me was definitely fun machine, hopefully it will make the cut for the next album. Their setlist was as follows:

They finished at about 8:50, and i got up to get a beer. On my way back to my seat i had to show my tickets to no less than 6 different security guards in order to get from the concession stand back down to the floor. At about 9:25, the familiar strains of Pinion filled the arena as the lights dimmed, and the band came out one by one, Trent last as he broke into love is not enough. I have seen NIN three times before this year, May 12 in Boston, May 16 in New York, and last thursday at madison square garden, and of the four this was by far the best. The whole band was really getting into the performance, so much that you could actually see sweat dripping off trent at some points. Aaron was fully recovered from the soundcheck, and broke into some ninja-style moves while playing the guitar. He and Jeordie kept switching spots, and they sang the background vocals on most of the songs. Alex Carapetis was an amazing drummer, if he screwed anything up i certainly didn't notice it. Unfortunately from where i was i couldn't really see Alessandro well, which was unfortunate because it looked like he was extremely busy, at times playing the keyboard, triggering effects, and doing something else. What, exactly, i can't tell you because i couldn't see. Perhaps someone else will post about it and then the great mystery will be solved. The lighting was pretty innovative, a different setup for each song. It was great to hear Trent bitch out the BankNorth Garden not once, but twice during the show. It's the only big venue in the area without general admission. Next time, Trent, try the Centrum! The highlight of the set for me would have to be Dead Souls, ive rebought the crow soundtrack several times just for that song, and never thought i would get to hear it live. Video screens were done really well. I'm sure my hearing is "somewhat damaged" after the show, but it was well worth it. I've probably seen about thirty-five concerts total this year, and this was the best live performance i've seen so far. Not to sound like an ad for the Spiral, but i certainly don't feel cheated. next up: montreal

I thought the show was a bit sloppy. Trent's vocals were spot-on perfect, but the sound... made everything sound a bit muddled. In my opinion, The Line Begins To Blur was the low point, and all the stuff off of Broken (Wish, Suck, GAVE UP) was the best.
... And I went to the bathroom during Hurt. I think I may be one of the only NIN fans to really, really NOT like that song.
The seats on the floor were so aggravating. I heard that when the Self-Destruct Tour blew through Boston, people tore the seats out of the ground. Awesome. Didn't happen last night.
The people around me were SO not into it. It bummed me out. I danced around, and screamed along with Trent, and really got into it... while everyone around me just fucking sat there. So, so annoying.
The New York club shows were better. More energy. I wish that he would just do club shows from now on. But that's just me.

I have to disagree with the sloppy complaint........this was the 5th show i've seen this tour and it was the by far the best one to date (until last night, Reno was #1). To anyone who's ever been to a show at Banknorth,
the Fleet( or whatever fucking name some corporate dick is going to name it next week) THE VENUE SUCKS...........PERIOD. I noticed people around
me that weren't into it also. I think it was because they were too stoned to get their groove on..one guy in front of me kept lighting up, would dance for 2 minutes, then promptly have to sit for awhile..lol. Can't wait for another show, just don't know when i'll be going....fuck.

am i insane, or is everyone forgetting that they played burn??????? come on guys!!!!

that definetly was not sloppy. although i have nothing but DVD's to compair it to. In the balcony everyone was into it. i had a guy dance like a madman for most of the show right in front of me. i sang and danced to almost every song as did about 80% of the people in my section. i guess the floor wasn;t the place to be this time. I still want a spiral membership though lol

Where to begin?


First of all, drinking before the show was out of control. I have developed a love of tequila that will surely lead to my downfall. My friends were nervous because they had a date with Trent "Stinky" Reznor, or T.Rez, as he will now be known from now on.

After my friends left to play checkers with T. Rez, the ladies continued to down cocktails and smoke cigarettes. I enjoyed this portion of the evening but I got so drunk that I almost forgot we were going to a concert. Whoops.

My friends beat T.Rez at chess, and returned with a number of autographs, digital pictures and stories. We were all drunk and entertained. Then we gave some guy a bunch of money for diabetes. Don't even ask.

Once we got inside, I decided to give up my floor ticket so I could sit with my friends. Well, "sitting" with them turned out to really mean watching the show from Mars pretty much. We all agreed that we were dizzy from the seats being so high and far away. Our mission to crash onto the floor began.

Meanwhile, T.Rez & Co. took the stage with the usual dramatic hoopla. Started off with a fog machine going full blast ("Do I smell sage?") and a transparent curtain that created shadows of the band members. Cute.

We made it down to the floor during March of the Pigs, right before Burn. Loved it. Somehow we all managed to get down and steal some fabulous seats. A girl next to me stunk of patchouli, but dem's da bones.

This show was entirely different from the mini-tour that followed the release of With-A Teeth-A. I was interested to see T.Rez change up the setlist (even just a little bit) and the projections were a nice added touch. I think Nine Inch Nails will always be one of the best live bands on the planet, but I had a few small issues. As much as I hate to bitch about a great band live (especially seeing them with such great friends), there were some setbacks. Please indulge me. I apologize.

1) Seats on the floor. T.Rez mentioned this a few times during the show, but the riot and ruckus I was hoping for never really developed. I had heard stories about chairs on the floor during other shows, and that the crowd had picked the chairs up and passed them over to the sides of the stage so they could freak out. Boston was not responsive, however, and the result was a bunch of people kinda nodding their heads and a few brave souls that danced their asses off. Sorry to the guy that said the energy was great last night - i thought the philly shows were much more out of control.

2) Freaking SINGLES! I hate to say this, but if I've heard it on the radio 4,000 times I don't want to hear it live. I could have taken roughly 14 bathroom breaks during this set if I left everytime a single was played. I cannot help it, I just get bored.

3) Switch up the setlist more. I'm afraid they are slipping into the age-old Tool dealio where they switch 2 or 3 shows a night. Perhaps they don't realize that a dedicated fan base will pretty much follow you anywhere you go, including the mouth of a volcano if you decide to play there. For christs sake, T.Rez, give us some variety. I don't want to eat Cheerios every single day for the rest of my life, and I don't want to hear you play Hurt every single show I go to for the rest of my life either. Christ, put it in the grave with Cash and let's move forward.

Other than that, great show. They are always playing a blistering set. A certain band member whose name begins with an A seemed to want to break things - plenty of leg kicks and chaos from his end which I enjoyed. Jeordie was stunning as usual, and I proposed to him shortly after the set.

I have to give Boston props for a fabulous contact high. There were plenty of buddies in the audience and although I was too drunkly paranoid to attempt the same thing, it was nice to have it passed along.

Overall - always a kickass show from NIN, with just a few things to bitch about on the venue end. I really enjoyed "Burn" which is becoming one of my favorites live, but I'm also a sucker for "The Big Comedown". Either way, bitching aside, I adore T.Rez & Co. and I would recommend this show to anyone and their grandmother. Come on, Grandma. Pop in your teeth and get with the fuckin program.



Concert Rating: A-

I went to the show and had a great time, but I have a few questions for anyone who have seen Nine Inch Nails at more than one venue:

1.) On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the worst and 10 being the best, how was the crowd participation and reaction at the Boston show?

-I thought the crowd response was pretty good, but I had the feeling that Trent was pissed off, as if he didn't think anyone was having a good time; I think that's why he asked, near the end, if everyone was having a good time ... the entire stadium went nuts. I was having a fucking great time, even though I was dancing and singing along throughout the entire show in front of my seat.

2.) Is it customary for the band to leave the stage and immediately have the venue's house lights come on?

-This kind of bothered me because the band didn't even give us a chance to applaud for an encore; I've been to a lot of shows for other bands, and I've never seen the house lights turn on so quickly after a band has left the stage.

3.) Is it just me, or did the lighting crew fuck up during "Wish?"

-It seemed like the lighting just stopped in the middle of the song; the performance was still awesome, but I was just wondering if it was "all part of the show."

4.) How long was the set compared to other shows? What songs, if any, were played at other venues, but not Boston?

-I think the set's length was pretty damn good, but I could have sworn that there were other songs played in the set that weren't played in Boston.

I had a great time, and I thought the show was awesome.

Had front row for this show! What an experience! Trent was really going off about the seats on the floor. I think it got him so pissed off that it may have made him put even more emotion into the songs. He looked so angry throughout the show. Death from Above was OK. Somebody mentioned that all of their songs kinda ran together...very true. At one point the lead singer berated the audience for not standing during their show. He said, I'll bet you'll all be standing for Trent!...duh, yeah!

Anyway I left my seat after Queens to grab my last beer before NIN. When I got back there was this 'big' girl and two of her friends standing in the spot where my seats were supposed to be. I still had a spot right against the rail so I didn't really complain, but the chick had her arms folded and stretched out on the railing throughout the entire show (taking up as much room as possible). She must have won some kind of contest or something because the security came through the row just before the show to check the wristbands that they had given out and she showed him some piece of papaer that apparently gave her the OK to stand there. Her and her friends were definitely not fans (they hardly sang along to anything). Sorry to go on and on, it just kinda pissed me off.

Thank you Trent for another amazing performance!!!!! Trent and crew were on last night! Even though he was pissed about the seating in the "shit hole" Garden he still delivered the goods. I knew he was going to be pissed because back in 94 he played in this venue and he literally laid down during Piggy throughout most of the song and walked off the stage for a period of time during the show. I can remember him saying " I don't want to be here, I don't want to do this," like it happened yesterday. But the crowd delivered that night in 94 by breaking open a pit probably 6 songs in......unfortunately this crowd didn't do a damn thing. I think it was impossible anyway because all the seats were connected it seemed like and the security was tight as hell. I would have liked to see a little more excitement though for a band who truely deserved it.

Highlights for me was The Collector, Only (Intro was crazy), Closer with the Only Time splice is so damn good, Even Deeper, and DEAD SOULS!!!! I don't even know who Finck is anymore with the energy and execution of North. Aaron has definitely pissed in Robin's boots and thrown them out the door!!! Love him!!! Jeordie seemed uninterested like usual, but he's always been like that. Props to Alex as he was amazing with no fuck ups that I could tell of. Trent was God like usual. He was actually pretty talkative with apologizing to the crowd twice for the seating arrangement and thanked the crowd at least 6-7 times. And Cort. was amazing to watch. Him crawling up on his keyboard a few times in some songs was a great sight!!!!

I have amazing 30 second videos that I will be posting probably tonight so look out for them.....

Now that my brain's beginning to function again, here are my notes:
- Aaron's unbelievable. I'm going to go buy a Hagstrom
- Alex the drummer sounded just fine. If anything, his work seems louder and less complex than Jerome, that works.
- Only is odd live. there's something missing
- thank god they didn't play starfuckers

As far as the chairs on the floor go, who knows what that was about. The 'garden' can be configured by request; someone screwed something up there.

I agree that during a couple songs the sound was a bit muddled but overall I thought it was really great. I didn't like how they opened with Love is Not Enough. That's one of my least favorite songs on With Teeth and I don't think it makes a good opener.

I saw them in Boston on May 12th and my seats were horrible so I didn't have a good time (even though the music was amazing). After the May 12th show I felt a little weird towards NIN, which has been my favorite band since I was 11 years old. I felt betrayed. How could Trent allow this to happen? I couldn't see anything and my first ever NIN concert was ruined. Because of this I wasn't as excited for this concert as I was before and after the opening of Love is Not Enough I figured it was time to move on from NIN. But then Terrible Lie kicked ass and I disagree about your comment on The Line Begins to Blur. After that song I had a big stupid smile on my face and I was pumped. I thought it was one of the best performed songs of the night.

About your comment about Hurt. I used to like it when I was 11. It was strong and powerful and emotional and I loved it. Five years later I finally see Closure and the performance of Hurt on there was amazing. I couldn't wait to get a chance to go see NIN live and see Hurt performed. Then And All That Could Have Been came out. Hurt wasn't so great anymore. The performance, I thought was weak. Or maybe I was just growing up and realizing the song wasn't that great? I was confused. Last night before the show I was discussing with my friend which songs we wanted to hear / didn't want to hear and I mentioned how they could do without Hurt in the playlist. Well, when they started playing Hurt last night my mind changed again and I really enjoyed it. Maybe they played it better that before? Maybe I was just so happy and psyched about what a good show they were putting on? (They DID play it AFTER the whole curtain "intermission" which was, I thought, the best part of the show). I am a big NIN fan. I liked Hurt. Then I didn't. Now I do again, I suppose.

The think I might be one of the only NIN fans to dislike Something I Can Never Have.

The people around me were idiots too. The couple sitting next to my friend were practically fucking. The couple in front of me were sitting down, the boy for the WHOLE show and the girl for half of it. And behind and on the side of me (and on the side of everyone else) were all these idiot goth kids smoking cigarettes. I smelled weed too but for the most part it was cigarettes. It's a nonsmoking event. Please be considerate. My friend was coughing up a lung there. It just smelled so disgusting and I asked one guy to please put it out but he just was too cool to put it out and tried to start a fight.
Another couple on the right of me also left after 3 or 4 songs. What the fuck is that? Maybe they moved to a different spot? Or maybe they were only there for Queens of the Stone Age? Haha.

My point is the concert last night was amazing. It was probably the best concert I have ever seen and NIN totally redeemed themselves in my eyes. I thought the jerks around me were going to ruin the show with all their smoking and sitting. But I got so into the show as well I was dancing and screaming along with Trent. It was a great time.

I can check this one off the list of things to do before I die. I thought this show was amazing.

If I were to do it all again, I probably would have signed up for the preminum spiral membership rather than standard. At the time, I was thinking that I didn't need a t-shirt or another email address but, apparently, if your standard, you're just one step away from the general public. No benefit to the spiral entrance, in fact, you were made to feel truly like a second class citizen. Sound check and early entrance was uber exclusive. Wish the Spiral folks took pity on the handful of sad sack standards standing out in the chill. I suspect the ratio of preminum to standard is 5 to 1. Oh well, you live, you learn.

The benefit of spiral, was I had the best seat for me! The absolute best. just off the stage right (or is that left) on Jeordie's side. Great angle for the visual show and also got my own private performance through the opening of the front and side curtain. Uhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Trent was a chatty kathy about the floor situation which, as I understand, is highly unusually for him so, people, feel the love, there was some empathy coming from the stage. If the seating situation enhanced the performance from all the comments about how pissed he was, lucky us. More 'Thank You's' from him would have been weird too.

DFA was ok, agree with the songs blending together. QOTSA was a slight surprise. Not a band I generally listen to and have followed some of the journal threads that he heckles the audience. Not tonight. Played the music then got out. I stayed at my seat the whole time which is much more than I can say for many other people when I did run up the restrooms after. Doesn't anyone listen to the opening acts? Every one was in beer and food lines!

Finally, what I have been waiting for since I missed the club tour this past spring. I was busy, not paying attention, ah, living my life. Did I mention this was my first NIN concert? All that I expected and then some. The sound was great, the visuals and lights were great and the energy that this band exudes from the stage completely charged me! I am so impressed with Trent and Co.s ability to belt one song out after another. I was wired and exhausted by the end. Every song was spot on. Truly enjoyable live. I'm not a big fan of Burn. I would have loved to have heard The Big Come Down instead. Cie La Vie.

Alex: Wow, for someone who has only been playing with these guys for what, two months? he rocked.
Alesandro: Very funny standing on his keyboard. Can't remember which song in the middle of the set but, he did it again after HLAH. Last guy to leave the stage. He also broke his mic stand towards the end and had to hold the mic while he played for several of the last songs.
Jeordie: Really enjoyed being on his side of the stage. He is so mellow yet into it.
Aaron: for all I have read here about his antics, I didn't even notice him. No offense.
Trent: I am truly impressed. Being old like him (hee hee) it has got to sap him to rock as hard as he did for two hours. A performer in the truest sense of the word. He composes, sings, plays, heck, he acts up there. I can't remember which song but, he was a emoting like Hamlet.

For the complainers: Hurt is a song that is synomous with NIN, it has to be played. I'm not a stage performer but, would think all the audience feedback and singing along has to give something to the performer? I think it would be selfish NOT to play Hurt or any of the other singles. In fact, I thought the styling of Closer and Only were just different enough then the recording to actually be a new listening experience. Anyone agree?

And my only nitpick complaint, nothing to do with NIN.... A big fuck you to the under 21 sitting in the row in front of me who lit up a bone right when DFA hit the stage and continued to smoke his pot for the next three hours. I don't want your second hand smoke. I don't want to be stoned, you selfish bastard. Smoke it before the show!

The seats on the floor were so aggravating. I heard that when the Self-Destruct Tour blew through Boston, people tore the seats out of the ground. Awesome. Didn't happen last night.

The New York club shows were better. More energy. I wish that he would just do club shows from now on. But that's just me.

I was out there too. If I'd known that we wouldn't be allowed in until 6 (as 'standard' spiral) then I'd have headed across the street and had lunch at the Fours.

This was my third show of the arena tour.. prob the worst because of the seats... philly seemed way better to me.. then again it was the first time i saw them do dead souls.. i was psyched about that... last nite was the same set which made me happy that they didn't cut out something i can never have like they did in wilkes..

i was also glad i got a full few of the screen during the middle of the set...in cleveland and philly i only had partial views.. well in cleveland it cut out...

My favorite of the 9 shows this year would havhe to be the second Philly electric factory one.. just because trent was so pissed.

I couldn't agree with you more on what you said. I basically lived the same thing. Hurt was the gateway song for so many NIN kids at that point. I liked it for about a year, then I got over it. Seeing it performed live over and OVER AGAIN - ad fucking nauseum - is just really, really frustrating. The song is haunting, and very, very beautiful, but he has other beautiful songs too - "Leaving Hope", "A Warm Place" (granted, these are both instrumentals, but I think that they could have the same effect), etc. Perhaps those could be performed live in "Hurt"s place. It just feels like it's past its prime, and it's become too much of a cliche. I realize that I'm going to probably get an enormous amount of criticism for this, but that's OK.
I also agree with what someone else (forgive me, I'm in class right now, and I don't want to go back and forth with the windows) said about varying of the set lists. I feel like I saw the same show a few months ago in New York. The main differences? We got Dead Souls last night, and the insane crowd participation/overall tighter show in May. It would be nice to have a BIT of variance with the song selection.

Like you guys, i got sick of hurt rather fast, and while it is a good song and trent did well playing it last night, im just sick of it. I would much rather hear something else in its spot.
But it seems regardless of how many times its played it gets a massive reaction from the crowd.. or at least at the shows ive been to.

I don't think I'll ever get sick of seeing Wish live, although I don't think anything will top the performance of it on Closure. Although last night came very very close.

I just think last night was awesome. I want to quit my job and quit college and follow them around for the rest of the tour.

So did anyone record this one? I want the mp3s. I guess people have been VIDEO recording shows now too? I want the dvd.

I was unlucky because nobody recorded the May 12th show in Boston and I went to that one. I was hoping to get a recording of my first NIN show but I guess nobody recorded it seeing as how it has not turned up yet.

So now I want this one. And a DVD would be awesome because the movie screen thing was awesome during Eraser, Right Where It Belongs, and Beside You In Time. I want to see that again before I die.

If anyone has any information let me know. I'll be sure to check the Bootleg Request Thread in the Tour Section everyday.

not to be disrespectful or anything but the only time was not in the middle of closer that was down in it with the wispered/distorted lyrics from closer inbetween 3.55 / 4.25 minutes into the song.

I was in section F row 3 2 seats from the center aisle...a few songs into the set a bunch of kids started rushing up and moshing in the aisle, the lame-o event staff just kinda stood there, but as the mob grew and started pushing into seats Steve, the bald NIN security dude singlehandedly RAKED about 15 kids with one arm into oblivion...I lost sight of them instantly. That was hilarious.

This was my 4th consecutive show and last (for now)...had the rail on sound check and it was fucking amazing. The soundchecks are the greatest thing I have ever experienced as a concert goer of 20 years. Thanks to the spiral staff for making it a truly unforgettable experience. Of course not being allowed to leave the arena after is a drag, but a small price to pay for such a thrilling experience.

Alex has really won me over on drums...I really thought I would miss Jerome, but Alex really has blown me away, especially on Only and The Wretched. To step in like that so suddenly is truly impressive.

I only skimmed through this thred so i'm not sure if someone pointed this out yet, but what I have been noticing is that people are listing March of the Pigs twice in the Set List...what's the deal? Does anyone know when he really played it?

Yeah, the lyrics are from Closer but the music is from The Only Time, not Down in It. Listen to The Only Time inbetween 1.23 / 1.43 minutes into the song.

i think i can honestly say that nine inch nails puts on when of the best live performances of all bands out there today. i dont know just seems like a lot of these posts have something to whine about like " i didnt want to hear that song" or "this fat girl next to me...blah blah" and "dont smoke pot in my comfort zone".
can not wait until they come around again/wish i could follow them to canada and beyond

What an amazing show! Getting in to see the soundcheck was priceless. I went to the Tampa show and was bummed out we didn't get in to see the soundcheck. Yesterday totally made up for that. I was at Jeordie's end of the stage. Being that close and in that setting was surreal. It was funny watching Alessandro trying to wave someone down to help him out.
I missed seeing DFA 1979 last time. I thought they put on a great set and rocked out. And I'm liking QOTSA the more I see them. Joey Castillo is insane on the drums.
NIN absolutely blew me away. I don't think anyone can adequately describe how much energy Trent puts into each performance. After Trent's rant about the floor seating and breaking a guitar during the 2nd song, I knew we were in for an intense show. I was in the front row of one of the loges and had a great view of Aaron. He's awesome to watch- definitely catch a show from his side of the stage, it's worth every leg stomp and guitar swing. Alex is doing a great job on drums. I saw him off to the side catching part of the Queens set earlier. Highlights: SICNH, Eraser, Suck was full of energy, hell the whole goddamn show!
Sitting right next to the floor entrance was not fun. Security was right in front of me the whole time and was very distracting. Two assholes ran onto the floor and security had a hard time trying to pull them out. That ruined Only for me. And a huge 'fuck you' to the asshole who stepped on and crushed my litho. Nothing made me happier than seeing your ass getting pulled over the wall and thrown out by security.

I entered WBCN's (Boston) Only remix contest and won, so my girlfriend and I got to go backstage before the show and meet Trent and the band. We met the band first who were for the most part nice and invited us to eat their food and drink their beverages (though I was too nervous to do either), and then were brought to Trent's dressing room.

Trent was very nice to us (there were 3 winners and each of us had a guest). His private dressing room had a roadcase containing 2 G5 Powermacs and a bunch of rack units. He runs Protools 7 on one and Logic (I think) on the other. He introduced us to Atticus (?) as his programmer who was working on drum tracks for the next album. He was shorter than I thought he'd be and very muscular, as everyone knows. His voice was very deep, and he had a very short haircut. Another roadcase in the corner was unfolded into a mobile entertainment center: Flatscreen TV, XBox, iPod, stereo, speakers, etc. He said he was considering making the Only remixes available either on CD or as an iTunes download, which would be really cool

I'm working on a long winded write-up of the entire evening. Much of it might be boring (my frustrations in trying to actually get my tickets, the long wait to meet Trent) but I could post it here if anyone wanted when I'm finished.

Our seats were way in the back on the balcony, so we had a grand view of all of the amazing visual effects, but could hardly see the individual band members very well. The show sounded amazing from where we were, especially given the size of the venue. I thought it was a very solid show and they gave it their all. They played for a very long time. I was impressed.

This was my first NIN show and it was amazing. I had a blast.

the only problem I had was that I didn't like the "video". I go to a show to see the band. I'm not particularly interested in having a bunch of political material shown to me as I try to have fun. I wouldn't have minded if it were in the back ground and I could opt to not watch the video and watch the band instead. I'm sure plenty of you, in fact most of you, don't agree with me, but still i thought it was annoying. In fact it drained most of the vibe out of me.

Other wise I loved the show. I had no interest in DFA 1979 and very little interest in QOTSA. But I wasn't there for them, even though I watched the whole thing.

Congrats on winning that contest. The show was indeed great both visually and sonically. Even though you were far away for the show, it's still pretty cool that you had the opportunity to meet the band!

First time seeing NIN for me an couldn't of been better. Trent's vocals were spotless, band was fantasic, an visuals amazing. Song i enjoyed the most would have to be "something i can never have" "the wretched" "even deeper". I will say i would of loved to hear " the fragile" follow "even deeper". that would of made the night. i do hope to catch them again hopfully soon.

I have been really putting off my photography until lately, but I finally got around to working on my album of this NIN tour, and for the 2nd time I got really lucky and got my Canon 20D into the concert, and the results have me really excited. I hope everyone else enjoys these photos as much as I have.
