BEST FUCKING SHOW OF THE TOUR SO FAR.

damn the haters; lots of new songs. "love is not enough" and "you know what you are" were the one-two punch that started out the set. and yes, there was "with teeth" [with tambourine].

no lie, he literally fell over after the last song.

The show was great tonight. More new songs than last night (see set list from above). Right before The Hand That Feeds, Trent said something along the lines about this is from our new album that was released on the internet a few weeks ago. Can't figure out if he was bitter or not. I'll admit I have it but I also purchased two different pre-sales and plan on purchasing it on 5/3 since I'll be away so I don't feel too guilty. I met this cool guy Keith there too who was lucky enough to get a backstage pass (I am so jealous).

I can't say which night was better, they both rocked. I'm so sad that it's over. They were tight and Trent is on top of his game. I am so glad that I flew out here for this, I can't wait for the NY shows now and then the fall.

I took a bunch of pictures too but most came out crappy (I forgot the camera last night). If anyone wants to see them, pm me and I'll email them but it may take me awhile as I'll be traveling.

Oh man... what a rad rad raddity rad awesome rad... well you get my point. I managed to have enough room in the front to wig out and not get crushed! Although unbeknownst to me, I was wigging out right next to (and sometimes on top of) Rob Sheridan. I apologised after the show, but not before I saw him unload a fat wad of passes on some people. He told me that he did not have any more, but there was not much fun to be had as the band was driving out that night. So if Rob was lying, someone let me know ;) He was still really really friendly. And cute. Hell, the whole frickin band is still easy on the eyes (but appropriately tough on the instruments). Especially adorable Aaron North with all his wall walking.

The venue was smaller than teh Davis one! It sounded nicer too. I got up to the front left, hoping that Trent would come down for "Piggy".
I would say that this show was better than the Davis if...
1) Trent didn't have stupid fans.
2) tone deaf chicks who dont know the lyrics didn't "sing."
3) Trent didn't have stupid fans.

Like last time, there were kids playing the new album, which I think is incredibly stupid for 2 reasons.
1. Some people are waiting until the release
2. It's lame to listen to the band you're about to see.
I think it's better to show off more obscure music, or something of a totally different genre. This gives room for conversation, if someone was playing some bad ass band I was into, I'd go up to them and go "hey man, that's some awesome music!" but you know, what can you expect? Most of these guys were really HARDCORE nin fans, so they only know manson and tool.
There were some cool people there. This couple right behind us were very giving, and cool. They seemed like a genuinely good pair, so I offered to give them 2 free tickets to see weezer in Vegas. Inside the show, right in front of me there were a few cool kids who were looking for a good time, but then they started talking about Maynard, and how humble Trent is. Guys, there's other bands besides Tool, NIN, and Manson! The psuedo-goth chick in front of me didn't realize she was at a NIN show, so whenever I'd rest my arms on her back, she'd pinch me. It's not like I have much room to move my arms!
What really ruined the show was this 6 foot dog, I mean blonde, and this short mexican girl with glasses singing every song. And every song lacked melody. and they hardly knew the words to songs. and if they were completely blank, they'd "blah blah" it. Those 2 people can die. Seriously, was there a point in being obnoxious and loud? Surely they had to have heard their terrible voices.

If I didn't have those 2 singing, this show would have been amazing.
Anyone have a lithograph I could buy off of them?

ILL KILL THEM. with a pen. a small one. tall ugly blondes shouldnt be at nine inch nails shows either. especially if they are in front of you. and stink. once again. im sorry. i got lucky. i had two standing "uninterested" dudes with glasses watching the show in front of me. i think i spit on them a few times. not on purpose. i think.

Yeah really, that's the ONLY song I don't like. So much to the point that I lost all energy, and had my arms crossed throughout the song. Though that was pretty bad ass when Trent had that big grin on his face and had the crowd screaming "don't you!?"

I was WAY back. Biggest difference for me between Davis and this show: I COULD SEE! I'm hella short and I still couldn't because of tall people in the balcony, so I stood on my chair for the whole fucking concert. I just hope I didn't block anybody... hopefully they would have told me if I was blocking.

Anyways, it was AWESOME!!! I took a ton of pictures, but most didn't turn out. I zoomed in a lot, so a bunch are pixelated or blurred because I couldn't hold still. Oh, I also got a bunch of video that turned out ok, so if you want it let me know. My battery was low though, so I couldn't record a whole song.

Dresden Dolls were pretty cool. I had listened to some stuff and wasn't interested, but the concert really won me over.

WOW, i has a blast at tbese shows! The Warfield is such a cool place to see a concert at, the sound is flawless and the venue is very clean. I dont even know where to start with this post.....perhaps ill just start off by saying BloodshedBoyX is a total fucktwat.....i was standing next to Jeordie when you called him....its little fans like you that fuck it up for everyone else...stop being so childish and grow up man.

Anyways, it was totally an awsome set of shows and im glad i made the trek up from San Diego. The band was in good form the second night, first night has some minor glitches but nothing too bad. I was dead center on the second tier on the floor and had the best view for the second show. First night i was in the same tier level, but just off to the right side of dead center. Im not sure if it was the venue or not, but the sound was crystal clear, more clear then and of the previous shows. I mean, i could clearly hear the keyboards over the guitars and everything, something which i feel was muffled during the first three shows. Great show and i totally think that anyone who is reading this needs to go to as many shows as they can! (Dan (forgot ur online sn), if you're reading this, im still open for you guys to come on down to San Diego)

*sigh* ill post more later on....i drove home last night after the show so im a bit tired. Ive got a great backstage story to tell ya'll......

Of the eleven shows I've seen over 4 tours, I'm thinking this one packed the most punch. Wednesday was great, but Thursday's show had more of an edge to it.
Was nice to hear more of the new songs too.... Love Is Not Enough was a great opening track.... Trent sporting the suave white dress shirt for the first few songs.
I'm a bit baffled why they played Star Fuckers both nights. Once is more than enough... not a fan of the song though. Would've been nice to hear The Becoming or Ruiner instead.

It's gonna be a long wait 'til Fall.

Ok everyone since the ets board seems to not want to let me post my pictures (error sign!) i will just let you know i was front row both nights and i have about 70 pictures if you add both nights together if anyone would care to see some of them just pm me letting me know who you are interested in seeing (e.g. "i love jerome, trent, blah blah tamborine picture please") and your email address, i would love to send some of them to you! i have some good pics of trent from the first night and a few pics of aaron breaking and jumping on random stuff.... which is always good.... and i have lots of trent with the tamborine.....

SO anyone who gets to be in the front and a girl wants to try to take your place dont feel bad if shes a girl let her know seriously LOL. I got some pretty good avi little movies where trent was in my face i can send to if anyone wants them just PM me and ill try to get them out but the sound is all fucked in the back round cant hear the song really. ALl in all was really fun but i got the shit beat out of me, but well worth every minute, i will never forget it. besides you in time was played over the speakers as an intro as the band came out. overall this show was awesome. i have one major complaint: the people. it's anazing how stupid people can ruin a good show. i was way at the front and everyone kept trying to push past me and take my place. i had this idiot right behind me that kept yelling whooooo! right in my ear and laughing and couldn't let me hear, and some guy to my left who kept screaming for dead souls every 30 seconds, they're not gonna play it buddy, no matter how much you yell, so let me enjoy the show. oh, and what's up with people talking during all the slow parts?(specially during the piano interlude in with teeth and all of hurt) what the fuck is wrong with you people!! let me listen to the fucking song!! well anyways, the band was amazing. i thought the sound wasn't too clear but i think that's because i was all the way in the front. aaron is crazy man, i loved how he threw the mic stand at the amp and knocked it over at the end. closer is fucking awesome with the new interlude.

Trent needs to learn the lyrics to the new songs. Spaz. The setlist was kind of disappointing. Now I wish I would have gone on Wednesday rather than Thursday. But all in all, I still would have paid the money and spent the time driving. It rocked, of course, I just wish they wouldn't have played almost the same setlist as the Fresno show. I wanted to hear something that they didn't play during the three shows in March.

Oh, and I liked that Jerodie played the lead guitar during "Getting Smaller." Even though the song sucks, he does the best job on it.

OK......im back from my nap!

I had a blast last night as well as wednesday night. Thursday night was the real highlight for me as i was able to make it backstage thanks to Leo!

Here are a few pictures.....

(yes, i know about the spelling error. Ive been up for 27 hours. Just give me a break)

So yah, i finally was able to make it backstage and after hanging out for about 35 minutes or so, my friend Gary and I found ourselves sitting in two chairs next to Jeordie and we kept looking at one another like "Wow, we are seriously backstage at a nin concert" Alisandro was totally cool with us. We asked how he landed the nin gig and he said that he was teaching at a local music Academy and saw a nin flyer that was posted up and just went to the address listed where he performed for Jerome and Jeordie. So after talking to the four guys in the band gary and i took our seats again next to jeordie. From where we were, we could look down the hall which lead to the dressing rooms and he was trying so hard to get a look at TR. Well, around 11:30pm or so we see Leo making his way towards us and points to Gary and then me and tells us to follow him. Gary looks at me and mouths "OH MY GOD" lol So we make our way towards Leo and he stops and points to the Dressing room with TR in it. There were three other fans all ready in the room so we kinda just made our way in and let them finish saying hello to TR. One by one they made their way out of the room and suddenly Gary and I found ourselves standing there with the man himself. It was totally awsome.....he was very friendly and chatted with us for about 5 mintues. We asked if he wouldnt mind signing our lithographs and he was happy to. While he was signing mine i told him "Im not sure if you remember me but i was the guy with the Slam Bamboo vinyl" he laughed and told us to take it easy on him.

I couldnt really say much after that so i just hook his hand and told his thanks for taking the time to chat with some fans. He smiled said no problem and walks us out. I looked and Leo and said "Thank you so much" and he just said no problem guys.

BEST concert experience EVER.....

When my bro and I were hanging with Keith and Gary in line at the Davis show and he came over, the first words out my my bro's mouth are, "So, you met your soul mate, huh?" NIN lacking brutal power that made it great

Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor reminded his fans of an old lesson: be careful what you wish for.

For years while they sat through concerts that were so loud they bordered on pain, and so poundingly rhythmic and caustic, there was almost no tune, more than a few fans wished for just a bit more melody to make the bitter pill easier to swallow.

Wednesday night, as NIN launched a national tour at San Francisco's Warfield, they got plenty of melody -- but it diffused too much of the brutal power that made this band great. Reznor's new outfit has replaced the synthesizers and drums in front with guitar.

With new bandmates Aaron North on guitar and Jeordie White on bass (the former Twiggy Ramirez of Marilyn Manson's band) and Reznor strumming on almost every song, the new NIN sounded more like an old classic rock band in the David Bowie vein than industrial terrorists, like Ministry.

There is more than a little irony in his newest, most toothless album being called ``With Teeth.'' But even with dentures and a diet of yogurt, Reznor hits harder and darker than 99 percent of the rockers out there.

The good thing about the new sounds was that Reznor's vocals were never more clear, as he ran through a litany of mental ills that make him a favorite with anyone who has ever been through -- or should have been through -- therapy.

``I hate myself for what I think,'' sang the man whose biggest hit album celebrated the downward spiral of life.

Never the optimist, Reznor reinforced the perception this with show opener ``The Wretched,'' where even religion provides no opiate for his pain: ``The clouds will part and the sky cracks open / and god himself will reach his arm through / just to push you down / just to hold you down.''

Both songs, and most others, peppered with swear words to accent the angst. (Is there another pop music star who could pull off opening a show with a song about being wretched?)

But the show lacked the uncompromising power of his early years, when the pain was felt in the music, not just the words. His last local show at the Cow Palace five years ago was louder -- earplugs were needed in the back rows.

They weren't even needed in the front at the 2,300-seat Warfield. Maybe he just needs to turn up drummer Jerome Dillon a little -- like by a multiple of 50 -- or bring back Chris Vrenna, the NIN drummer who was more interesting than most guitarists.

Despite the air being let out of some of the songs in a set that was a career retrospective of great work. Some classic songs included: ``Suck,'' ``Head like a Hole,'' ``Closer,'' and ``Piggy.''

The biggest reaction of the night came for ``Hurt,'' sung quietly and played with discord by the solo Reznor. The song, presciently covered by Johnny Cash, showed that even without the storm and thunder, this brutal rocker is a great songwriter.

One hates to criticize an artist for trying something new, but some things are better left unchanged. AC/DC doesn't need a fourth chord, and Reznor, if he is going to fill amphitheaters later this year, may want to bring back some of the painful pounding that gave him his teeth in the first place.

This wasn't the first time "Beside You In Time" was used to start off the show, they've done it at EVERY show so far.

Great show, but too many cry baby's in the pit. I just returned from San Fran and will post a review this weekend.

One quick thing... I like the tour shirts with the dates, though I wish the Fresno, Davis, Reno shows had "special" shirts, perhaps like a "Warm Up Gig" shirt, that would have been fucking sweet.

PS. Those of you that were in line in the morning and had some guy walk buy passing out NIN stickers... you're welcome

That is so awesome! All the people that saw some of the band- where do you wait? Do you see them before or after? I don't know if you want everybody to know so that everybody will wait there... but let me know.

Oh, and I really liked Dresden Dolls so I went to their concert in Sac last night. I took a picture with them, so if they get really famous I can show it off.

I thought this concert was so much better than when I saw them on The Fragile tour. I was up in the Balcony and had great seats. I have to say that there were 4 empty seats in front of me that alternated with people coming to stand there (eventually two very stupid, annoying, groupie wannabees). Thankfully I am tall so it was a non issue for me. So it looks like some of those scalpers didn't get all their money for seats that they wanted on Craig's List. Yeah I noticed people on their phones too. WTF? Though I think it was great that cell phones have replaced lighters. I got a good laugh out of all of you up front with your camera phones taking pictures and video. It was great! And Aaron North rocked. Absolutely awesome show. Can't wait to have the actual album in my hands.

In all seriousness, I could not hear Trent at some points. I wouldn't complain otherwise. It's about luck when it comes to people you come across on the floor, obviously. I mean EVERYBODY sings along...
I just ask for a minimum of courtesy and the bare minimum of melody. Emphasis on the word minimum. That's my point. This particular girl that I am basing my entire complaint on crossed the thin line of singalongs.

I have to say, without a doubt, the live-line up this tour *sucks*. Boring boring boring. I can't get over how *boring* they all were.

Even Trent seemed to sag towards the end of the show (although the setlist may have had something to do with it). The opening few songs his energy was awesome though.

But seriously, who are these guys? I already knew Jerome was pretty boring (from seeing them at the Cow Palace and on the Fragile DVD). Don't get where I'm coming from? Compare Jerome's performance to Brian from Dresden Dolls and I think you'll get it.

But WTF is up with Mr. Van Halen wannabe Aaron North? Don't get me wrong; prior to this show I thought Robin's playing could be downright annoying but at least he put on a good show. The stage antics of the new guy are straight out of some 80s hair band. I can't get over how AFFECTED he looked

Bass and keyboards aren't even worth mentioning. I didn't think anyone could get more low key than Danny Lohner and wow, the new keyboard setup/player dissappoints on so many levels

Man I really really really hate to bag on Nin. I've been a fan for over 10 years. I just really don't get it...Trent's such a perfectionist so I KNOW he picked these guys for a reason.

The new album definitely has a bit of 80s throwback sound...is that the point?

I think it's only fair to point out that the new band is technically perfect. They definitely can play. I just expect more than that from a nin show.

At any rate, I still had a good time and appreciated the introduction to the Dresden Dolls. They're not GREAT but still pretty fun.

I think it the new band has to take some getting used to because they're not the band that was NIN for the past three tours... but one thing they are is not sloppy. Old Nine Inch Nails played all the great songs, but they did it sloppily. Twiggy was dead on on everything. And even though the rest of the band looks kinda plain and doesn't have that NIN look like Chris Vrenna, Danny Lohner, Robin Finck, and Charlie Clouser they still sounded good. Did anybody see the dude that was tackled during Head Like a Hole in the lobby? I ran up to look at that shit and it was funny. Five or six security guards were trying to restrain him. What was up with him? Then I went upstairs to walk my girlfriend to the bathroom and a couple was having some nasty fight. Comeone everybody. This is Nine Inch Nails.... at the Warfield. Enjoy yourselves. By the way.... the floor way pretty rough as some points. I'm glad the crowd was into it. At one point I fell on the ground with about twenty other people. That was pretty fun. I wasn't scared though. The floor is tiny. Anybody ever been to a Primus concert at the Warfield? The mosh pit is crazy. I would love if Primus opened for Nine Inch Nails. That's diversity.

You have no idea how loud some of these people were. You didn't have the worst voice in the world messing up every lyric behind your ear. Trust me man, I've been to A LOT of shows in my day. A few years ago I'd go to one every other night, and this was one of my worst experiences, because I've never had such an annoying crowd, or person behind me.

I thought the show was great. I wasn't expecting a lot of the new stuff but it worked for me. Generally don't mind people singing/shouting along but this guy up in the balcony was screaming the lyrics right in my ear (and there was a seat separating us). So not cool. The crowd up in my part of the balcony was kinda strange. A lot of folks were just sitting there looking around--including the folks in front of me who looked like they didn't know where the hell they were at. C'mon, you're at the Warfield listening to a great band play an excellent set--show a little enthusiasm.

I can't compare it to the last time I saw them on the fragility tour since they're such different shows. But this show sounded great and it was nice to see NIN just play instead of worrying about the technology and the visuals. Dresden Dolls put on a good show too which was a nice surprise for an opening act. Overall, a very nice birthday treat for me and I can't wait to see them in NYC on Sunday.
