Just got home and UNBELIEVABLE. Opened with You Know What You Are (after Pinion) and it was incredible. I can't hear too well right now but it was well worth it. Trent seemed in good spirits and Aaron tore it up. Great show. One of the best I've ever seen...

Just got out of the show, sitting in my hotel room. First off FUCK the security there, they were dicks and kicked everyone who didnt have a badge out.
Secondly, The Dresden Dolls were alot better than I thought they would be, very entertaining. The covered war pigs by Black Sabbath song and Karma Police by Radiohead. I got their sigs and they were super nice. Jerome played drums on the song half-jack

I got balcony seats but still got a great view, the orpheum had great acoustics. NIN Kicked all imaginable ass, trent is fucking ripped and the band was amazing. The setlist was awesome and the new line-up blew me away. I really wanted to meet someone in the band or even rob or leo, but no luck to the fucking security. They played alot of stuff from broken.

I was thrown out before NIN even came on.

I think we had almost the exact set list as the first Toronto show minus Every Day is Exactly the Same. Suck was great, as was Trent's intro to March of the Pigs, "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you you fucking pigs!"

Warning, still wicked excited, so this will be very disjointed as my thoughts pop into my head.

Reptile live was one of the most amazing things ever! It was completely different than what I had imagined. All of the new stuff sounded great live as well. (Although I wasn't too fond of The Line Begins to Blur live).

Played SICHN after March of the Pigs... pretty ballsy.

Burn was hottt (no pun intended), took me a few seconds to realize that's what it was.

My only gripe, they didn't really play an encore. There was a brief pause between Hurt and Wish where he said thank you, but then they just kept playing. Closed with HLAH. So awesome!

Aaron was fun to watch and Jeordie dumped an entire bottle of water on a fan. The fan friggin ate it up and Jeordie was grinning from ear to ear for the rest of the song.

I've never seen so many drumsticks thrown as were during Dresdon Dolls. Brian was amazing and War Pigs blew me away. I loved their opener, Good Day. I wished they played Missed Me, but I'll live since the Karma Police cover was really cool.

Overall, the vocals were really clean for the whole show.

Not as many "characters" as I thought there would be, but I'm sure tomorrow night's Friday the 13th show will bring them out!

Dresden Dolls were great. That was my first time seeing them I think I will be purchasing some of their albums soon. Their cover of War Pigs was unbelievable.

NIN always delivered the goods. This being my 5th tour watching them, I expected the usual pinion to terrible lie. But the new song they opened with was excellent.

I think during terrible lie, something was wrong with trent's guitar and he sent it in the air and almost hit the guitarist. That was classic. So was the water fight during head like a hole where the keyboardist almost became hit in the head with a full water bottle.

It was awesome to hear a majority of the broken album and burn live. It's been too long.

And playing something i can never have after march of pigs was a bit strange. Surprised they didnt do hurt after wish

Still thats all semantics...they are an incredible live band.

Trent just rocked my nuts. Fucking awesome show. The venue sucks dicks, but Trent kicked ass.

Dresden Dolls were excellent and bringing Jerome out was a nice touch.

I was second row center orchestra. The whole night I was literally four feet from Trent. Without sounding like too much of a gushing fan, I'll just say I made eye contact with both him and Jeordie several times.

Jeordie was great, pouring water on the guys diagonally in front of me and handing them his instrument.

Aaron is a friggin' madman. I didn't see him make the dive over the speaker. I was watching Trent and when I looked over I just saw two legs sticking out over the stack. It was quite amusing.

I can't even begin to get the setlist in order. But as far as songs they played, you got:

Like I said, that's completely out of order, but hey...

Also, it was cool getting to meet fellow ETS members. Dan, sorry I seemed kind of spacey. Having just gotten out of the show, my ears still ringing, reflecting on the seats I had, and trying to find a couple of my friends, I wasn't fully comprehending what was going on. I promise I'm more "with it" in actuality.

Now I just have to wait for tomorrow's show. Wow...

Dresden Dolls were a big dissapointment to me. NIN has had much better openers ... I was just bored with the Dolls.

Show was fantastic even with the lack of a real floor area. I was expecting more tracks from With Teeth/The Fragile to be honest.

Simply amazing. This was my 1st NIN show. Thank you NIN, and thank you Boston.

dresden dolls were okay. i'm not a huge fan of them as is. that's mainly due to the fact that two close friends of mine have been on the receiving end of amanda palmer's bitchiness. brian is a very talented drummer though. tasteful playing indeed.

i think that because i was sitting way up in the balcony, the sound wasn't as good. maybe on the first or second floors it was better. but it seemed like whenever nin was going into something heavy, it sounded too thin. did anyone else that was up there notice that?

the new songs sounded great. i especially liked with teeth and the line begins to blur. would have liked to hear more of them. maybe even a little more from the fragile too. good to see something i can never have and reptile in the set.

i think i liked them better when i saw them on fragility. but then again i was front and center for that. maybe it's all perspective...

This show was fucking amazing. I sat in the front row directly below Trent. Got his guitar pic and one of Jerome's drumsticks. I paid a shitload of money for those tix and they were worth EVERY PENNY. Looking forward to Friday!

Much better setlist than I had imagined. 'Love is Not Enough' is a terrible song that ruined the middle of the show. 'Closer' got great new life with the guitars in the middle, plus the PHM love. 'Something I Can Never Have' was the best part of the evening.

Did anyone else see the monsterous female on stage left balcony? That juggalo was very close to killing a few people the way she was looking to eat Trent.

I also had the misfortune of having very crappy balcony seats. I thought the music would have been louder. My real complaint is that I couldn't see anything because of everyones head in the way. I had to stand on my tippy toes the whole time (my feet are killing me) just to catch a tiny glimpse of Trent. The music and lighting was amazing. I just wish I could have seen more of the band. And been closer.

For my first NIN concert ever, the seating really ruined everything for me. It was still a great show and everything but I was just too far away and I couldn't see. If only everyone would have sat down.

I had a lot of fun at the show tonight. I was sitting in the 5th row of the balcony right in the middle and had an amazing view.

I thought the Dresden Dolls were really fun live. I did think they were a little too far away from each other to interact properly.

For my first NIN concert, I was very impressed. SICNH and Reptile were definitely the highlights of the show in my opinion.

I took a lot of pictures tonight and thought I'd share some.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow!!!

btw the concert was amazing, better then i could have dreamed, and reptile, not usualy my favorite,w as amazing live.
i'd say it was better than the recording of AATCB because trent cut down on the poinless cursing,
Something i can never have was easily the highlight and the lowlight was the show ending

yeah... i saw her from below. she was holding some sort of doll.. it was either a chucky doll or a ragedy ann... either way i kept thinking, wow... it would really suck to have that doll in my line of vision for the whole night. weird.

I've been lurking on here the last week or so, but I was standing in line when someone asked "Anyone here from ETS?" I almost asked wtf is was, I was too stupid to figure it lol, so whoever that was, hi lol. I was the mexican with the sunglasses and vaguely Dave Navarro goatee. That ought to be a dead giveaway description, there was so many white people there I thought I was in the middle a Klan meeting. Oh...if you were offended by that, get a sense of humor.

Jesus fuck, where to start. I was immediately bummed out walking in, with the seats all the way up to the stage. Granted, I was in the middle orchestra anyway, but its been my experience with shows that people with the cheap tickets rush the pit and have theirselves a good time for 35 bucks. None of that, I'll be damned if I pay to see anyone else but NIN at the Orpheum again.

Dresdan Dolls. Poor guys. I heard some nasty stuff being thrown their way, c'mon you Boston people, support your locals! To be honest though, I wanted them off the stage by their second song. I'm not hating them, I was just a little too anxious for the main course. Better then I thought, especially since I can't stand that damn Coin Operated Boy song. Two questions though:

Did the band always have only two people in it or did some people quit? And did anyone catch the very last thing she said? I think it was "Fuck you people that sat." but I was already half deaf at that point.

NIN. My god. I was too young to go to Fragility v2.0, been waiting five years for another tour and was not disappointed. I would have thought watching the DVD of that concert like a million times would have prepared me, but no. It was amazing to hear the entire audience sing some of the songs perfectly, sometimes it drowned out Trent. Gave Up and Hurt are my favorite hard/soft tracks of all time, to hear them back to back was just stupeyfing. I longed to hear Please and Just Like You Imagined though, but I guess he's done with the instrumentals.

Well, I'm still in a state of hyper/bliss, hence the long ass post, sorry. I left the Orpheum feeling like a used ten dollar whore, sweaty, tired, in need of a shower and my throat was sore. But unlike said whore, I have all my teeth and am feeling happy afterward. Despite the venue, despite the three hours of sleep and long day of work tomorrow, er, today, I'd still disembowel someone will a spoon to get a ticket for the next show.

What a perfect day! I don't even know where to start! Won the NIN-that-tune contest on WFNX (the BEST station in Boston who actually play NIN unlike the other stations who just show up to hand out bumper stickers) which qualified me for the meet & greet drawing w/the band today before the show - some how, some way, I frikin' won that too and found myself standing outside the Orpheum Theater to meet the band before the show - not without a ton of reconfiguring my schedule for the day and F'n w/all my friend's plans - but hey - if someone tells you to be somewhere for Trent at a certain time, then you do what you gotta do!

Met up with a bunch of other radio station winners there - who were all super cooland hopefully had a great time at the show!

Was outside when the band showed up in a van - was curious about the chick with Trent as well...

So, what I thought was just going to be a quickie 5-min, here's the band, they'll sign one thing session we all entered the Theater and were treated to sitting in on sound check - which F'N ruled!

They played - Even Deeper, The Frail, The Wretched, Don't You Know What You Are?, something else - maybe Line Begins to Blur - can't remember, was too excited and out of my mind!

Met fellow ETS'r Robyn(madphotographer?) who baked all kinds of cookies & brownies - was able to get herself into sound check and I saw later got tix for the show - Yeah for you, Robyn - siked to see you made it inside!

The show was awesome - good god is Trent jacked now or what?! He looks so good!! At the meet & greet, I had him sign a pic of me & him that was taken at the CT show (5/4/00) on the Fragility Tour - he was really funny and asked me - who's this guy - I was like, I don't know, some guy I met at a show, thought I'd come see if I could meet him again, then he took my picture and show it to Jordie and was like - look at this guy - it was so awesome! Even the promotions guy afterwards commented to me on how much of a kick Trent got out of my picture - anyway, I digress...

Back to the show - I had pretty decent seats, to the left of the soundboard...clear view of the stage - sort of bummed they played a venue with seating, but the Orpheum is a great place for a show sound wise...and probably the first time in a long time I've actually watched a show!

I took 3 NIN virgins with me (#7 for me!), who were all completely blown away and may even try to score tix w/me tomorrow...

I tried to remember the setlist when we went to the bar nextdoor afterwards (Beantown Pub - ok, but a little stuffy for my taste - although is the only bar right next door) - couldn't remember the order either, but all the others I've seen above seem to be about right...

Loved hearing Reptile live again - haven't seen that since the Bowie tour...new stuff sounded good and the new band is great - Aaron is completely insane - saw Alessandro duck from Aaron's water bottle during HLAH - looked like they were having fun...

Also saw girl in the baloncy with the weird doll - had seen her and the doll outside earlier in the day outside the place...

The Orpheum is definitely a good place to hear & see a show, but never a fun place to be at a show - sorry to all who got kicked out and didn't enjoy themselves - hope it doesn't reflect on Boston cause most of our venues are better than that - although after today, the Orpheum will also be special!

Well - Now that it's 4am - probably time to get a little rest before I have to go out and try to do it all over again tomorrow - except this time without tix!!

I didn't see them at the Astoria-gigs.

the lite thing was a cluster of a bucck of blacklamps, very matrix looking. anyoneelse see the chick from dd's come up and watch HLAH. probally one of the only shows she'd be able to get that close and no be crushed. what was up w/ the orphium staff? this ticket lady next to me was on crack, dancing around and making an ass about herself and sitting he friends in open spaces. has there been an accurate setlis postedfor the nails? just curious. the show was amazing. have to echo the highlight of the evening being SICNH with a close second be EVEN DEEPER and REPTILE.

I was the chick in the balconey. Its my "Twiggy"/Jeordie doll. He goes to all the shows that Jeordie plays at, only I updated his clothes from the pink dress he usually wore in the MM days. Jeordie's seen the doll and shit before. One of the Nails guys came up to the box I was at and was in...I think it was durring "head like a hole" so maybe they will release a dvd with footage from Boston?
BTW I wasn't trying to "eat" Trent alive or anything...I just get a bit carried away at the shows
They played "sin" and "reptile" I can die happier now..
BTW "Monsterous" is never a way to talk about a lady.

I'm going to tonight's show, were they cool about digital cameras or anything without flash?

Ok so I was definitely at the show (Orchestra Center R205). This was my first time seeing NIN live but I've been listening since 1996 and watching "Closure" since around 1997 =) ... I feel a little let down by how fast the show went by and how little Trent said but I completely understand that its about the music and about "the show" that they give. I thought the show was fucking amazing and I love the way that the light show went with/complemented the music. Very fucking awesome! I think Trent is sounding better than ever and I think he was in a pretty good mood. It seemed like overall there was a pretty positive vibe coming from him (and the band). I would say there was a lot of positive energy and that it probably has a lot to do with the fact that he's sober now and has his life more under control. I fucking respect that man and his music so much (even more so now that he's cleaned himself up and written so much... I think it says a lot about him). I think it goes without saying that this tour is probably going to be so much better than the fragility tour. I finally got to see NIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I went in, I was fully prepared to at least have my bag searched, but they just scanned out tickets and let us in. There were a lot of people taking pictures and some with flashes. I don't know if security tried to stop them or not.

Couple of questions for the people at the show last night: I have a balcony seat for tonight and I'm wondering if you can see the stage from row J or not? Also, what is a good time to show up in hopes of seeing the band before hand? Afterwards, where do people wait for them to come out?
I just left after the show last night and I wasn't sure if there were sightings of any of them around town post-concert.

Total sickness, never had an hour and a half fly by so quickly at a concert. I was concerned that NIN wouldn't be able to play a place like the Orpheum since the venue doesn't usually host that type of band, but thanks to the ever present and consistently anal security staff, all the fans were well behaved. It was also the soberest audience I've ever seen, and it was the least smoky show I can recall. Me and the bro were up in the balcony but only a few rows deep, and the sound was the best balance between volume, clarity, and non-abrasiveness one could hope for. I could feel it in my chest but could carry on a conversation in normal tones at the end of the show, with no ringing the ears.
Highlights: Opening with YKWYA (coming onstage to the prerecorded Pinion) was sweet, what with the gnarly drum intro. March of the Pigs is always a treat, and they continue to do the "All the Pigs, all lined up" outro live, much to the delight of my bro, who only knows the studio stuff. Follow March with SICNH was also great, sounded more like the Natural Born Killers version than the Pretty Hate Machine version. I've purposed limited my listening to THTF since I like the song so much, as I tend to do with most singles I like, as so not to get burnt out. The beat got everyone moving and was my bro's highlight of the night,
Nice segue into the Down With It riff midway through Closer, which segued back into a weird amalgam of the two songs. Burn was much groovier and funkier beatwise than on the NBK soundtrack, which I was initially upset about but then realized they were probably funking the beat to make the double-time latter half kick more ass. Which it did. I never gave No, You Don't its proper regard, apparently. A live standout that I was always ambivalent about on The Fragile. Was REALLY fired up for Gave Up, which alongside Getting Smaller (why aren't they playing this more) was the tune I most wanted to heard that I knew wasnt a gimme (MoTP, Wish, etc.). An inspired Gave Up led into an emotive Hurt, beginning with Trent on pianie solo and eventually the rest of the band taking the stage to pump the dynamics for a grandiose conclusion. Utterly predictable but still chill-inducing. Closing with Wish and Head Like a Hole, two songs that still rock balls despite being over a decade old. They left the sound to caterwauling feedback and another minute of light show before the house lights came up. An encore would've been redundant.

So cool to see the band in an intimate venue with just lights and strobes, and look forward to a more elaborate arena spectacle. What a great band.

i was in row h -balcony right and could see just fine.

about 7 rows from the beginning of the balcony.
the stadium seating helped also.

ALWAYS use flash. Pictures will turn out blurry, under exposed or with streaks from the stage lights- much like ACID tracers if you don't.

You wanna give some advice?

First off. NEVER use flash! Your photos will look drowned out with very little contrast. The major thing you battle with a digital camera versus a film camera is the delay between pressing the shutter and when the camera takes the photo. This is due to having the camera in auto mode. But you WILL need to have it in auto due to the lighting. Everything the camera does to adjust would take you 3 times longer anyway.

Second, never use digital zoom. This will cause your photos to be grainy with motion blur. What might also work is to put your camera into a "fast action" mode. This will shorten the shutter time giving you much clearer photos, but they will look a little darker. If they look only a little to dark, a good photo program like Photoshop (the only good photo program) will let you correct the brightness/contrast of the photos. You'd be surprised how much better a photo can look after tweaking it a little.

Test out what works best before Nails comes on. You can try some different setting with the Dresden Dolls. Good luck.

thought the dresden dolls were great. i think their drummer is the best live drummer I've ever seen in a performance, very entertaining stuff.

we were in the balcony and when sitting down, we have a great view of the stage but naturally everyone stood up and it became very difficult to see much of anything other than sweaty heads.

tonight we'll have much better seats and will hopefully be able to get some nice pics

I'm sure your balcony seats will be ok - not really a bad seat in the house - I once sat in the last row of the balcony for a comedy show and could see just fine...

Was at the Orpheum early yesterday - the band showed up in a van somewhere around 430 - give or take 15 mins as everything is sort of messy in my head today - they hopped out of van, Trent waved, and headed straight inside - didn't stop, but you never know...

Didn't hang around afterwards either - had the incredible opportunity to win a meet & greet w/the band before the show, so didn't feel the need to stalk them anymore - did go to the bar up the street (Beantown Pub - not my first choice of places, but the closest to the Orpheum that sold cold beer)...

While there, we saw Alessandro walking up the side road (Bromfield Street) with a girl then Aaron not too far behind him - was going to go run outside, but again - had met them all earlier in the day and didn't want to overdo it...did walk towards front of bar to see if they may have come in, but they didn't - the direction they were heading (along with countless groups of misc fans w/backstage passes) leads me to believe the band is staying at the Omni Parker House hotel - which is the next street over (to the right) of the Beantown Pub - may be at the corner of Beacon & Tremont...

Ok - Time to go get my sorry, 1/2 hungover bum in the shower now to get over to the Orpheum and try to score me some tix to tonight's show...

First off. NEVER use flash! Your photos will look drowned out with very little contrast. The major thing you battle with a digital camera versus a film camera is the delay between pressing the shutter and when the camera takes the photo. This is due to having the camera in auto mode. But you WILL need to have it in auto due to the lighting. Everything the camera does to adjust would take you 3 times longer anyway.

Second, never use digital zoom. This will cause your photos to be grainy with motion blur. What might also work is to put your camera into a "fast action" mode. This will shorten the shutter time giving you much clearer photos, but they will look a little darker. If they look only a little to dark, a good photo program like Photoshop (the only good photo program) will let you correct the brightness/contrast of the photos. You'd be surprised how much better a photo can look after tweaking it a little.

Test out what works best before Nails comes on. You can try some different setting with the Dresden Dolls. Good luck.

Total sickness, never had an hour and a half fly by so quickly at a concert. I was concerned that NIN wouldn't be able to play a place like the Orpheum since the venue doesn't usually host that type of band, but thanks to the ever present and consistently anal security staff, all the fans were well behaved. It was also the soberest audience I've ever seen, and it was the least smoky show I can recall. Me and the bro were up in the balcony but only a few rows deep, and the sound was the best balance between volume, clarity, and non-abrasiveness one could hope for. I could feel it in my chest but could carry on a conversation in normal tones at the end of the show, with no ringing the ears.
Highlights: Opening with YKWYA (coming onstage to the prerecorded Pinion) was sweet, what with the gnarly drum intro. March of the Pigs is always a treat, and they continue to do the "All the Pigs, all lined up" outro live, much to the delight of my bro, who only knows the studio stuff. Follow March with SICNH was also great, sounded more like the Natural Born Killers version than the Pretty Hate Machine version. I've purposed limited my listening to THTF since I like the song so much, as I tend to do with most singles I like, as so not to get burnt out. The beat got everyone moving and was my bro's highlight of the night,
Nice segue into the Down With It riff midway through Closer, which segued back into a weird amalgam of the two songs. Burn was much groovier and funkier beatwise than on the NBK soundtrack, which I was initially upset about but then realized they were probably funking the beat to make the double-time latter half kick more ass. Which it did. I never gave No, You Don't its proper regard, apparently. A live standout that I was always ambivalent about on The Fragile. Was REALLY fired up for Gave Up, which alongside Getting Smaller (why aren't they playing this more) was the tune I most wanted to heard that I knew wasnt a gimme (MoTP, Wish, etc.). An inspired Gave Up led into an emotive Hurt, beginning with Trent on pianie solo and eventually the rest of the band taking the stage to pump the dynamics for a grandiose conclusion. Utterly predictable but still chill-inducing. Closing with Wish and Head Like a Hole, two songs that still rock balls despite being over a decade old. They left the sound to caterwauling feedback and another minute of light show before the house lights came up. An encore would've been redundant.

So cool to see the band in an intimate venue with just lights and strobes, and look forward to a more elaborate arena spectacle. What a great band.

Oh why, oh why.... Closer suddenly fades into "THE ONLY TIME" not Down with it... damn! Know the songs!

First off the first page or two of this thread is very negative. We don't want to hear about how you had seats far away or not. You knew coming into this it was an all seated venue. If you didn't then lord help us.

Tonight i'm in one of those fancy boxes and will be much more sedate.

My 12th time seeing the dolls. Their chemistry was a bit off compared to the smaller shows they're used to headlining but nonetheless they never disappoint me. They did

NIN...my goodness....i knew what to expect since i saw all the setlists from pretty much every other date...that happened to me during fragility and i was a bit bummed out then...this time...they still fucking blew me away knowing what exactly they would do. i've been to MANY MANY MANY of concerts and this is possibly my favorite one i've ever seen. now onto the next 5 nights they play? hehnehehe

right after trent started hurt amanda from the dolls comes and stands two feet in front of me for the last three songs...i couldnt help myself but give her a hug right when she was walking away...

I didn't have a problem with security? They were okay with me. Except this one big dude right in front of twiggy who kept staring at me...SORRY IF I WAS ROCKING OUT!

these two hot topic girls was in front of me and i guess i scared them because i was getting into it...sorry if i'm getting my $45 out of my ticket and $16 out of the TWO beers i bought.

You're not the only one.

The balcony seemed to designed so that the front of it basically cuts off the front portion of the stage. so basically, with everyone standing, you could *maybe* see trents head bobbing up if you can get on your toes high enough. It was so bad, that the bottom portion of jerome dillon and alessandro barely made it into view. But otherwise, you could see those two fine.

Tonight (13th), I have the option of being one row closer in the balcony, or being in the very last row of the orchestra. Can anyone tell me how the back of the Orch was?

One note, Jerome Dillon is fucking hot. I love his quiet persona with his stoic face. It contrasts well to his energetic playing. Both of which come off very sexy.

Also, I just want to make a personal note that I absolutely, 100% regret downloading the bootlegs before seeing the show. It ruined every possible surprise, and the intensity of the show dropped enormously. If you have a ticket for a future night, and have not downloaded any boots, keep with it. I guarantee you the show will have a greater impact.

Notes about the show:
-I really thought Terrible Lie wasn't as strong in the middle of the set.
-Jerome is absolutely insane during YKWYA
-Aaron North reminds me of a grasshopper
-Too many fucks wearing NIN shirts. I'm wearing pink tonight.
-TLBTB and Reptile were both fantastic live

I think the show was straight up, raw and to the point, unlike in fragility, the set was much more diverse, atmospheric, and had more synths in the background to make out. During fragility I can remember so well hearing all the intricate sounds in the background, while this time around, it was more about a band playing the songs right.

My wife and I had a great time last night in Boston. It helped a lot running into Alessandro, Aaron and then Trent before the show! I ran into Sandro and Aaron about an hour before just strolling out of the back of the venue (Bloomfield St.). I asked for an autograph but didn't have a fucking pen! duH! They were very very patient with me and we had a friendly chat until a nice woman stopped to give me a pen. Sandro shook both our hands and then they went up to go to the Beantown Pub (place was packed so we skipped it) A little later, my wife and I walked around the block a bit and were thinking about going into the Littlest Bar on Province St when my wife nudged me to look up the street to see Trent coming our way! He stopped to shake a hand with a guy on the sidewalk and when he passed me I tapped him on the shoulder and said "looking forward to a great show tonight Trent". he turned over his shoulder and smiled saying "hey great, thanks man" and kept strolling along....damn, I was speechless!

Anyway, awesome show. Best of the three times I've seen them ever. Ruiner, Even Deeper and You Know What You Are? were tops. He did an amazing run on With Teeth...that's pretty intense live, wasn't sure if it would be that good or not. You're right about the balcony, I had to tip toe-lean in to even see the front of the stage, legs got a good stretch. Acoustics were great at the Orpheum. Very intense and very tight show. Aaron was amazing, I can't believe he can still play while thrashing around like that...he's a great adder to the band and a really nice guy too.

For the record I wore my Downward Spiral shirt, and my brother wore his Pretty Hate Machine shirt. I'm TDS and he's PHM. I don't have anything against the people wearing gap shirts and khakis, or pink shirts and white skirts, or NIN shirts and combat boots. Just don't delude yourself into thinking you are somehow special or above the people wearing NIN shirts because you're in pink. You aren't.

As for the show, it fucking rocked. It's just too bad half the people there didn't seem to be real fans. Sure it may have been hokey of me to sing along to half the show, jump around and bob my head, but at least I know the material I'm listening to. You could almost hear a collective "What the fuck" as the dumbfounded audience had no idea what was going on when "Home" started. I have nothing against these people, it's just too bad that a lot of hardcore fans couldn't get tickets and they did. I mean I saw a couple people sitting down for christ's sake. They weren't even looking at the stage! What a waste.

And don't get me started on the guy next to me. Bastard was dancing like he was listening to hip hop, and you could routinely hear him yelling out catch phrases like "sing it white boy!".

I know I'm being extremely negative here, but that's just my nature I guess. It was a great show and all the songs sounded wonderful. I think the audio quality was far from top notch, but that's the venue's fault. Every song fit perfectly live, and hearing Suck with the AATCHB "Jesus fucked on ecstasy" line will stick out as a defining moment in my meager existence. And that's not evem mentioning the other 20 or so times my mind orgasmed over the course of the night.

Also a quick note, I mentioned ETS while talking with my bro, and this fellow in front of us mentioned he was a lurker here too. So if you're still lurking, I hope you enjoy your rubber band .

Gotta agree with ManCannon on some members of the audience. Some just weren't fans. I was standing next to two of them and it really sucked. They left with 3 songs left which was great for me. I had three empty seats to rock out in.

This "pre-tour" should have had more fans and less of these "other people". Those others can come to the larger venue tour were their attitudes can be more drowned out. Did any one pick up on what some of the people were yelling during the slower songs? I thought some of what was said was rude but I couldnt hear it.

I love those that think there is a dress code for concerts. Me, I wore the shirt I got at the 1995 Garden show.

Sorry I wasn't too excited to hear Home. I didnt recognize the song and I also forgot that there was a song on the vinyl that couldn't be picked up anywhere. But I sat patiently through it and listened. Actually I spent the time during the song wondering what song it was.

The back of my head is in some of your pics! I'm the tall, skinny guy in between Aaron and Trent (the guitar was regularly thrashing over my head).


The concert was a lot of fun. The Dresden Dolls started slow, but really kicked it up once "Brian?" started getting the crowd into it. That was awesome. He was staring right at us once we stood up... HE IS A MANIAC ON THE DRUMS. He had this crazy, maniacal look on his face during... war pigs (I think). I was very impressed.

AS for the main show, I thought the songs were strong (as expected), but Trent didn't interact with the crowd much. And the band members didn't really go crazy until the last 3 or 4 songs. I thought Hurt went very well. A lot of the news songs were good... Home was odd. Wish was probably the best song of the night for me. I felt some "eye contact" with Trent during that song. And then when the water bottles started flying between the band members... AWESOME! At one point alessandro (is that how you spell it?) was almost nailed by a water bottle that was meant for jeordie.

And then, as the set was being demolished... Jeordie gave his base to someone in the audience. I don't know if it was for keeps, but that was fairly cool.

Overall, I really enjoyed it, but I was hoping for a little more interaction between trent and the crowd---compare the lack of NIN interaction with the large amount of interaction from the Dresden Dolls.

anyways, I'm looking forward to the fall.

And next time, maybe they will play "only".

I was one row back from that guy. Jeordie also dumped an entire bottle of water on him.

Don't worry, though, security took the guitar back after a few minutes. But, yeah, that was freaking cool.

yeah, i was the "lucky fuck" who got jeordie's guitar after "head like a hole." it was a knock-off squier tele with the rhythm pickup missing and taped over. after he handed me the guitar, i saw him walk over and talk to a roadie, and the roadie came over afterwards and asked for the guitar. i gave it back, because from seeing the show, it looks like trent and the rest of them put the roadies through hell every night, so i have a feeling they'll be needing every guitar they carry with them on the tour.

great show though, unreal being up that close (thanks to presale tickets!) the guy who had the water dumped on him was next to me, he seemed to be in his element.

Amazing. I was 5th row center and was jumping around the entire time- well, except for the moment when I crumpled and had to catch my breath. And I got Jeordy's guitarpick. Complete shock over the amazing seat I got for $30.

That was so awesome!! I was 3rd row on the side, in front of Aaron. What a killer show. My friends and I got into the After Party even though we didn't have passes, so that was cool. Meeting Jeordie was great!!
