Concert was awesome. Sound was terrific, crowd was nuts. There were a couple groups of asshole slammers, one big group smack in the middle of the pit, and another couple of dicks on the left side, in front of the speakers where I was. Scum.
I was so totally fucking into it I couldn't even stand it. I limped my way back to the train afterward and had to ice my damn recuperating-from-surgery ankle when I got home. Too much jumping and dancing and sheer effort of staying on my feet despite the pushing and shoving and slamming. Ow. But well worth it. I'm gonna be a fucking styleless nerd and wear sneakers tomorrow. I highly recommend it. I was dying from heat and thirst, but that's my own fault for dancing like mad nonstop. I'm going to bring hard candies and a cap for the water bottle tomorrow.

I'm a girl. I was in the pit. I loved it, and so did my guy. The "couple thing" definitely works, as long as you know how to do it. No offense, but it's pretty funny to see the "lightweight exodus" after the first song--sometimes not even that long--as the people who realize they don't belong in the pit clear the fuck out. Great. More room for the rest of us. For about ten seconds, anyway.
The crowd shifted constantly. Is there a name for that "wave" of pushing that happens sometimes--not slamming, but when everyone's pressed so tight and suddenly the whole thing moves like a single hot sweaty laughing beast in one direction, then crests and ebbs back to its original spot? That happened a lot. One girl next to me fell down and I was afraid she'd get trampled, so I blocked the bodies and helped her up fast. Poor thing was just trying to get the hell out of there!
Near the end of the show I had two guys by me who just stood there. They were annoyed by anybody around them who was into it and bumping them, but I don't understand what the hell they were doing in the middle of that scene in the first place. But they weren't as bad as two asshole guys I had to deal with earlier. One was fucking trying to dance WITH me, or some shit, actually facing me instead of the stage. Fucking prick. He didn't try that again. But some other prick kept shoving his crotch against my ass. At first I chalked it up to the general press of bodies, but no way. I shifted in EVERY direction, and he always got right the fuck against me again. So I swapped spots with my bf instead. He didn't try it with him.
So yeah, we had the typical pit shit to work around, but it was awesome aside from a few assnuts. I went to the Fragility MSG show alone on purpose because I didn't think my bf would be as into it as I was, and I didn't want to be bummed. But I got a huge kick out of seeing him smiling and laughing and getting totally caught up in the jumping and even *singing* (he does NOT sing!). In seventeen fucking years I've never seen him so into a concert.

I second that. I reached forward and yanked one such person's shirt (I swear, though, I think it was actually a guy!) and gave the universally understood "Get the fuck down you damn cock I'm not paying to see your ugly ass blocking my view of Trent" hand signal. He/she got right down, though, so that was decent. The people around me were VERY pleased and thanked me. I'm not shy, and I just don't understand why people are so afraid to say/do something rather than just bitching and staring at the ass in their faces.
Sleep now. NIN Part II tomorrow. Must rest up. And ice this crybaby ankle.
