I can deal with the fact that they wouldn’t sit down even though they bought SEAT tickets, but I couldn’t deal with their incessant talking. They were saying stupid things like “I find it funny that most people don’t get the Irony of ‘Closer,’” and “This song is significant because…” and “If people realized what Trent really meant by this song…” Damn…if you want to get all philosophical about the music that’s fine, but don’t do it right in front of people at a concert. If you want to talk about music go to a coffee shop, if you want to listen to music go to a concert!girlfriend learned the hard way that light shows like that will make her sick to her stomach though at the end of the day the world went away. I'm normally not one to tell someone how to enjoy their concert but for fuck's sake if you're going to stand up the entire time move to the side or get to the floor.

I agree with you dude. I have been waiting for almost 14 years to see this guy. Trent could have stood there with almost nothing to offer the crowd and I would have been happy as a clam. I was on the right hand side of the barricade and I did notice that those in the middle were quite docile and quiet, but the right hand side was insane. We were screaming, singing and taking in everything that we could soak in. Of course it was gonna be hot, it's fucking Houston. This time of year, every fucking thing is hot. I didn't expect him to come down and sing right to me and I didn't expect him to have that much interaction with the crowd. He's not there to personally kiss my ass. He's there to rock my ass to the point of oblivion. He did his job and IMHO he did a fucking good job at that. I kind of agree there wasn't much of an audience connection. ( I am so hesitant to do anything but praise the show) I too experience them on a very deep emotional level. And having been at the Austin show I think he connected better. even though the pit there was way more brutal and I got my ass KICKED even harder than in Houston.
But he did make alot of eye contact with the front rows... I was there on the right hand side too...Piggy28 where abouts were you... we had to be close to each other, I have the pheonix tattoo on my left arm anyone recognize me now?

As for the setlist from the soundboard... the guy who got that beat me to it by like 30 seconds. =) I was right behind ya chief.
At any rate... Met Trent and the rest before the gig after the soundcheck, they were very cool guys. Alessandro and Aaron are extremely outgoing guys in person and seem genuinely excited to be part of the band. You could feel thier enthusiasm radiating.
Jeordie was really quiet, which is about what I expected. =) Really nice guy though.
It was really cool to hear "everyday is exactly the same" during the soundcheck because they didn't play it during the show.
I'm really hoping a copy of this show will surface somewhere online eventually... =)
I was at that show too! (and at the International Ballroom for the May 4th show a few months prior) Man, did ya see that one crazy bastard that jumped off of the balcony at that show? I wonder how he lived through that crap!?! I was also at the 1994 International Ballroom show and the 1994 Summit Halloween show. The International Ballroom show had the most brutal pit I've ever seen. I saw a guy get his eye poked out, it was gross! That was the first time I was ever exposed to Marilyn Manson. I remember seeing the guy jump from the balcony at the Summit Halloween show. He did it when everyone started to rush the barricades and run for the floor/pit. I would be very surprised if she managed to do that without major broken bones. Marilyn Manson opened then also, along with The Jim Rose Circus. That was a **HUGE** pit at the international in '94!!! Man, freaked me the hell out. During "head like a hole" it was bordering on dangerous even where I was.... (which, was about 3 feet from the speakers on the right side of the stage, just to the right of Robin Finck.) As a side note, my dumbass learned a valuable lesson that night... STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THE SPEAKERS!!! Before the gig, I was up at the Hard Rock Cafe outside bar, waiting to go in for the soundcheck and all. Bah, whatever... What did they think someone would do? Hold someone down and draw an NIN logo on thier forehead? Did anyone see the chick in the leather corset with the frickin' 8 inch heels and pink miniskirt? I don't know if they were actually 8 inch, but they were LONG spiked heels. That had to be seriously uncomfortable concert gear... I've seen Pigface several times. I didn't go to the last one the "Free For All" tour because that would have been the 3rd time I've seen them in less then a year in support of the same album. (Which would explain the low turnout for that particular show.) The last 2 times I saw them was at #'s, and the time before that was at Fitzgerald’s. If I was at the same show as you I doubt that you would have seen me. I sort of blend in. Semi-tall, shoulder length hair which is sometimes red, or light brown, or dark brown, usually my clothes aren't fancy, just jeans and shirt. On a rare occasion I revert into my teenage Goth-self and wear the standard black skirt/top with fishnets and knee high stripper looking boots. (Which is what I wore to the NIN show.) I saw KMFDM, Pig Face, The Thrill Kill Kult, Marilyn Manson, and other such bands here. NIN played there once. This place is also a kick ass night club. My home away from home.
I did kind of want to go to the Free For All tour, but the timing was wrong, and since there wasn't a new album, I figured that I would catch them next time around. I was sitting up in the balcony for the NIN show. Near the top, so I don't think I saw you. I even had free passes to it from my Interscope ADR!!! i still love going to numbers..i used to go in the early 90s and i still love friday night classic #s. they've started something there recently and every month on saturday nights (usually the last saturday of the month) they have 90s night. lots of great shit from back in the day. Sucks about the inventory, damn work, always getting in the way of fun! Although meeting Trent is much cooler then going to a listening party. The 7" is pretty cool, except for the fact that I don't even have a turn table, so I can't even listen to it. I actually have a lot to NIN and Tori Amos albums that I've never listened to, but I keep buying them anyways. I’m one of those compulsive collectors; I need to have it all if possible. I'd still be mad as hell about it if I hadn't made it to the '05 gig and met Trent and all... =) I'd still like to have gotten one of those promo only 7" singles they were giving out to ppl who pre-reserved the album though. (even if I'd never have gotten around to getting that copy of the album, since I live 3 hours away.)
I think the new Saturday night is great. Unfortunately I can't go to the one this month (June 18th) because I'll be out of town...so I'm sad. I hope they keep doing it for a while. I got one of these from Aaron too. Thought it was strange that the venue provides the bands with picks. Is this standard practice? The person in charge of selecting people to meet Trent Reznor ushered our group into this little room. My sister and I thought they were taking us into a haunted house, when we realized it was the "dressing room" we couldn't stop giggling because it was so cheesy!
Anyway they lined us all up against the wall and everyone just stood there looking at Trent Reznor sitting on the couch in the middle of the room. There was a blonde woman sitting next to him. No one moved or said anything, they were just frozen there like they were scared of him!
I finally got tired of standing there and walked up to him and tapped him on the shoulder and asked/said "are we not suppose to talk to you?" He looked up at me and answered, "sure you can talk to me, but let me finish talking to her first." Him and the blonde lady got up and left soon afterwards. I think I ran him off. : (

We waited out there for like an hour and a half. It totally sucked that he just left considering there were only about six of us. I had chalked it up to either (a) he'd had a bad night or (b) his semi-legendary shyness. I hadn't stopped to consider that one of his other fans had been a buttwipe.
Then again, after that retard on the Closure video was talking about wanting to lick Trent....

I saw KMFDM, Pig Face, The Thrill Kill Kult, Marilyn Manson, and other such bands here. NIN played there once. This place is also a kick ass night club. My home away from home.
