The show last night was unbelievable. My friends and I arrived at 7:30 am and were like 11th in line. I wanted to be against the rail because I'm not hardcore in the sense I like to get my ass kicked while I enjoy music. We brought chairs and a cooler and games and stuff to pass the time, but that only kept us occupied until mid-afternoon when we started to get anxious and crazy with anticipation. Once the doors opened, I made a mad dash for the rail, and got a spot CENTER STAGE. AHH!
I personally love the Dresden Dolls, so seeing them so close was amazing. Someone threw a cup of ice onto the stage before they started playing, which pissed me off... but they shut up all their critics by the time they played Ozzy's "War Pigs" cover. Amanda is a madwoman, she goes to town on the keyboard... she even broke a key!

And Brian (the drummer), is so kick ass! He broke several drumsticks as well. They have quite a lot of energy.
So, on to NIN... the entire experience feels like a dream to me. I mean, I was against the rail, directly in front of the microphone, and suddenly, Trent's a few feet away from me. It was indescribable. He looked into my eyes for the majority of piggy (heh... yeah not the most romantic song to have sung to you, but hey

) At one point he jumped into the crowd, right on top of me, so I was having to help hold him up. (Jesus Christ!) But of course everyone in the vicinity is trying to touch him, not hold him, and he ended up biffing it, but security kinda caught him. This was awesome, because he put his hand up to his face and had a James Brown I-can't-go-on moment. Someone had grabbed the microphone however, and they had to fish it out of the crowd. At this point, my ribs and pelvis were sore from being smashed, and it was only like six songs in. I also felt like I was going to throw up. And I had been kicked in the head about 97 times from security grabbing the crowdsurfers to help them over the rail. So I figured, "I love Trent, but I love my insides too." And plus I had already touched him and had him look at me for awhile... what more could a gal want in a relationship with a rock star? So I had security rescue me, or rather wedge me out of my spot. I grabbed my purse but I lost my fedora which I had set on the inside of the rail.
I went and had me a drink, then went back into the crowd a safe distance from the moshing, but still close enough to see. During Starfuckers, the audience went on saying "Don't you, don't you, don't you..." for much longer then needed, and Trent smiled, put his hand up and said "Okay that's enough. You know, we were thinking of something to do later tonight, and figured we'd have a party in Aaron North's hotel room at the Hyatt. Remember that name: Aaron North." Ha! Once that song was over, everyone was talking about actually going... I felt like shite though and could feel myself forming bruises.

I wonder who all went, and what became of them?
Anyway, hearing Trent live is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience... everyone should see him at least once. It's something I will never forget. Waiting 12 hours just to be directly in front of him for six songs was definitely worth it. However, today I'm just going to show up a bit early and make my way up occasionally. I'll post on tonights show later!
