Hopefully, you know the drill by now. Please post concert reviews, setlist, photos, etc. if you attended the concert.

oh my god, this was so awesome!!! i was in the second row, right in front of aaron, it was great. i had a very good view on all of the boys.
i even aleady saw trent and aaron during turbonegro who played before them. they stood on stage right, half-hidden by some boxes. trent stayed for five minutes or so and went away, but aaron watched the whole turbonegro show (drinking red bull. why the heck does this guy need red bull, he's already totally crazy!?), shaking his head and singing along now and then. looks like he likes turbonegro. (and it was fun to see him surrounded by the multicolour baloons which flew of the stage und right in his direction cause of the wind during the turbonegro show)

nin on stage were awesome. they played a pretty good setlist, but i don't remember the right order. no songs they haven't played before. they started with sin i think... they didn't play "with teeth", but that's okay, i don't like this song too much.

aaron is totally crazy, he went off like a rocket! is he a grashopper or what?! he ran to the very edge of stage left, played there and ran back two or three times, but once, the cable of his guitar got stuck on something, so he had to stop very hard, and wait for a roadie to set him free. that seemed to piss him off. once, i could only see his feet because he was lying behind a box, and later, he stumbled over a cable and fell quite near of jerome. also, his mic didn't work once, so he just kicked it away and nearly hit a locker with the mic stand. the locker looked very puzzled.
aaron also threw his mic in the crowd, too cool. unfortunately it was too far away from me. at the very end, he grabbed some box and tryed to pull it off the stage, he had some problems first, it didn't worked and he tried again and again. he kind of gave up in the end and walked away, leaving the box hanging half of the stage, but finally it fell. great job!

trent looks better live than on the pics. he didn't look that much like a wrestler. a bit maybe, yes, but not awful or so.
during "starfuckers, inc." trent was like "stop!" on the middle, so the boys stopped playing, except aaron, so trent was like "stooop!" again and then "fuck the middle!" so they didn't play the middle of starfucker, weird...!
trent also grabbed aaron's head and shook him around, haha!
i don't know if trent had sweat in his eyes during SICNH or what, but it looked like he was crying. that was very intense.

alessandro threw a water bottle, seems he loses his shyness a bit... he threw it at aaron but didn't hit him. then alessandro grinned. jeordie managed to hit aaron with a bottle, that was nice. looks like everyone is kind of bullying aaron...
does anyone know what this little transparent square with the green borders is, that alessandro holds in his right hand on some song (can't remember which song it was)?

jeordie moved a bit, too, that was cool. when i looked over to him once, he was whirling his guitar around on the floor, later i saw him lying on the floor, too.

jerome was cool, too. i like his hair. he was the first who entered the stage. unfortunately he was always throwing his drumsticks behind his back and not in the crowd. hmm...
oh, and he suddently left the stage after one song, i don't know what he was doing (i think the rest of the band didn't know, too), but he was off-stage for some seconds, until they got him to go back on-stage.

i had another nin-fan standing behind me, a bit on the right, we talked a bit during the pause between turbonegro and nin and he gave me some water: if you read this, thank you again. you went away too fast after nin to see dinosaur jr.!

oh, and very funny, seems like the roadies of the band which followed nin, rammstein, had a lot of technical problems. i really hope it was because of nin playing before them, i don't like rammstein too much, haha.

I copied the setlist from Hella, from the hurricane thread, i hope he/she doesnt mind. It was pretty much the same setlist with two exceptions, I'll put a * there and try to remember what they played instead.

Generaly, i was very impressed they play SICNH, because thats one of my favorite NIN songs, especially the still version. And dudes, aaron is one crazy guitar player! It seems like he wants to make up for the laziness of the other guys.
And alessandro... he reminds me a little of the character steve buscemi plays in "Con air". There is something very sick and scary about that guy. I dint think he's just shy, he's up to something...
when tr played hurt, at the end, it almost seemed he was kind of crying for a moment.
One question to the ppl who have seen previous shows of the WT-tour: did he constantly go to the very back of the stage, too, like almost kneeling and his hands behind his back? that seemed so weird.
But all in all, it was pretty good, still, there is the fact, that everything seems to be planned, there is no spontanity, no talking to the audience. But hey its NIN...

one hell of a show! if anybody saw some guy with brown/black hair, in the €55 NIN-hoodie, screaming along with an ugly voice on the right (from the audience's point) of trent, that mustve been me.

it was amazing, although the crowd sucked and didnt really do a lot other than clapping at the wrong time. however, a lot of people sang along with all the songs , that was good. what was weird was that they dropped the guitar/"dont you" part in starfuckers. trent said "stop.. STOP (jeordie didnt hear him) fuck the guitar" and jerome counted back in.

definitly fun. i think i came like 18x during each song because i saw trent. alive.

Those are great pics. I was at the SouthSide festival 2 years ago and saw Coldplay, Massive Attack and Radiohead...but would have traded all 3 to have seen NIN there. I loved the area, although the camping was fucking crazy...had drunk germans all around me...kept staring at my huge Canadian flag posted outside our tent.

haha, i've seen a lot of canadian flags this year! i even wondered what so many candians were doing at the southside...
don't worry about drunken germans, i was surrounded by them, too. a friend of mine was so boozed he couldn't even watch the concerts on sunday... that's sad.
oh, and it seems that the "stuttgarter zeitung" (newspaper from stuttgart) printed a review of the southside today. haven't read it yet cause i've not got the time to read newspapers on mornings, but it seems that nin got pretty bad critics... *grrr*
i'll watch out for the article this afternoon and try to post it.

i can see where people who are (incomprehensibly) not fans of NIN found the concert rather boring,
First of, it was too early. I think as a part of the show the lights werent nearly as impressive as they would have been in the dark.
Secondly, many people in the front rows were rammstein fans. Now, the average rammstein fan (at least that was the impression i got from the people i saw at the southside where shirts with it) is between 15 and 18 years old, and probably more likely a festival first timer and rather right-winged and low educated. Whereas the average NIN-fan (thats tough, I know) is in is early or mid twenties, has seen quite a few bands and concerts, is rather left-winged and is unemployed but has a high college or university degree.
You see I think most people just did not know how to deal with a freaky guitar player, a creepy keyboard player, a introverted bass player and drummer, and a little guy screaming out all his hate and anger in a language they dont even understand!
During the succeeding rammstein concert it was easily recoginzable that rammstein fans were a minority, there even more people seemed rather irritated.
But anyways, seeing nin live was worth it every single cent of the 94 euros (besides oasis, system of a down, audioslave, turbonegro).

The order's probably wrong.

Am I the only one who noticed that they played an abbreviated version of "The line begins to blur"? For real; just one chorus.

Show was an hour and twenty minutes. They played ten minutes longer than they were supposed to, and Rammstein had to start ten minutes late.

I might be wrong, but Trent seemed a bit angry. It wasn't our fault, the crowd was really appreciative. When he said "fuck it" during Starfuckers, Inc., I thought we was about to stop playing and throw a tantrum of some sort. That would have been fun, certainly more so than Head Like a Hole, which I'm beginning to tire of. It was a great show, but I was really hoping to hear more from the new album.

Tip to Trent, who I'm sure is reading this: when you're performing in a German-speaking country, instead of singing "Starfuckers incorporated!!!", you should sing "Starfuckers GMBH!!" which is German for "Inc." You would surely garner much laughter and applause. You should do it today in Vienna!

yeah, you're some kind of right, there were too many rammstein fans who only were interested in this band and in gaining the first rows than in getting to know nine inch nails.
i'm not a big rammstein fan, i would never buy or even download an album of them, but i wouldn't call them right-winged, even if rammstein looks/is quite military and you can clearly see that the rammstein-fans have no individuality during a show (i'm speaking of the first five rows, where everyone was just headbanging like robots).
but you know, a festival is always something else than a real concert. i'm sure some turbojugend-guys were quite pissed of the nin/rammstein fans standing in the first rows during turbonegro...

i can clearly see trent singing something like "my god sits in the back of a mercedes benz..."

long time lurker, first time poster here...

it was a great show... the crowd seemed a bit subdued... don't know if it was attentiveness or apathy... but i was tired as well so all was right...
i agree that there were too many rammstein fans but i don't think that people didn't know what to make of them... the people i went with weren't really familiar with nin but they loved it...

i took some pics, too... mine are not as good as the ones posted before... in fact, they suck... but i guess it's the more the better...

exactly! And what better time to join this little community, than right now, after my first ever NIN show.
I'm still kind of stunned by the performance i witnessed. I mean, i was at a lot of concerts, but this was not even close to the other gigs.

To be honest, I'm not objectiv here. I mean: i waited for 4 years to see a NIN show, and this was definitely the firts show where I knew like 95% of all the lyrics.

Anyway: I still got a sore neck and my voice still is a bit raspy. If anyone was standing a few meters left of Trent in the 5th (something like that) line, you've definitely have noticed my. I had a black NIN shirt on and was going totally nuts.

Setlist was exactly the one Sveinung posted (at least as far I can tell after a few days)

anyone know what happened to jerome, the drummer? - heard he left stage for a moment and trent seemed to be very angry, so jeordie ...

as far as i know there was something wrong with his drumset, im not sure, because the drumtech kept crawling around until jerome came back

ah, cause my friend just told me he left the stage right while a song (?) so suddenly ... but don't know about it - thats why i am asking you.

but i just wanted to point out that there's an excellent audience recording of this show at dimeadozen.org or any other torrent site... can't help you out there but i'm sure you will find it if you want it hard enough...

hey marya, no he didn't left during a song, but shortly after the end of the song before hurt.
so, my first thought was, that he maybe overlooked the song before hurt and went out to make a pause, but later i realized he was playing drums during hurt, too. so, in the end i don't know why he left stage. i can only tell that the other guys who stayed on stage didn't seemed to understand why he was leaving...
