This show was apparently cancelled. Check the nin.com current section under 'media'.

Yesterday was with out a doubt the most disappointing experience of my life.....to make a long story short, my gf and I were front-row center (20 feet from the stage).....it was roughly 5 minutes before QOTSA was to go on....then it started to rain and rain and rain and rain....THE STAGE FELL APART...all of NIN's guitars and amps were apparently destroyed.......Finally, once they reassembled everything we found out that QOTSA and NIN were cancelled.....AND DIE TOTEN HOSEN (the lamest bunch of uncharismatic dildos) were to perform as scheduled.......1000 bucks down the drain....now I am stuck in interlaken with Simple Plan and Bright Eyes...FUCK ME FUCK ME FUCK ME

I will post a more fitting entry when I return to my appartment on Sunday.....All you need to know is that I WAS STUCK IN A FUCKING PORTOJOHN WITH 4 GERMANS for over an hour...I SWEAR TO GOD...

it was the worst day of my life

the stage fell apart?!
i just watched the video, it looked like there was a lot of wind and rain, but ho the hell does a stage fall apart!?
...die toten hosen... argh. hope you had fun. (eisgekühlter pommerlunder...)
Master of the Ninth Arch
Looks like the weather got to destroying you before trent did.
Master Traveler
fuck the rain!

nin, qotsa and mars volta did not play the greenfield festival. have you seen the video on nin.com? i was right there in the portable toilet you see in the video. i saw rob take the video. instead of seeing nin, i ended up trying to stay dry in a fucking shitty-smelling porto-potty with 2 german-speaking girls. ok, it wasnòt all bad!

the rain came down hard and fast. it was hailing for a bit. the big banner on the left side of the stage was flapping around in the wind and everything on stage was drenched. the band hung out for a bit watching the chaos, but they took off before they were scheduled to play. i was pissed! and soaked! this is the fourth show nin have had to cancel that i was going to.

fuck the rain!

I do not, for one, think that the problem was that the band was down. I think that the problem may have been that there was a Stonehenge monument on the stage that was in danger of being crushed by a dwarf. Alright? That tended to understate the hugeness of the object.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Holy shit, was there really a Stonehenge backdrop? I figured it was just some massive hideous thing to take some of your attention off thee Dead Pants on stage, but that's a whole other level of stupid. I demand that Rob post more pictures of this monstrosity!

I just got back to my flat in Winterthur. I still have an empty feeling in the pit of my burning stomach....one that will not be filled until I am able to yell "Fist Fuck" in unicen with 20,000 people.

AKA US-Fall Tour.

This was the worst experience of my life. I couldn't even get a refund.....and the Swiss people whom I was dealing with blamed it on the fact that the festival was being run by "germans".....neutral my ass.
Master of the Ninth Arch
i'm really waiting for some more pics by rob... could be interesting.
i nerver liked die toten hosen, i always refused to see them live, now there's one more reason to not like them...

DIE TOTEN HOSEN
Master ad Vitam
So here's a little montage from Friday......

First we have this innocent photo...taken approximately 4 hours before NIN was supposed to play.....Looks like a nice day doesn't it?

Next we have things progressing nicely....me and my gf getting drunk 20 feet from the stage.....approximately 45 minutes before QOTSA are to play..(yes, someone spilled a beer on my head 5 minutes prior to this photo...yes I need a haircut).

Uh-OH what's this.......it looks like it may shower a bit....Cool, I'm thinking. IT was fucking 93 out all day. NIN in the rain. Àwesome.

Holy Fuck.....this is worse than any storm I have ever seen....Shit, looks like the concert may be delayed....Oh no; is that lightning....Why yes; better take cover in that port-o-john over there........Shit, why do these Germans keep talking about Die Toten Hosen anyway. Who the hell is Die Toten Hosen..Fuck these kids; I'm going to give them the finger

Well, the rain has stopped, but the stage looks damaged.. Better go to the beer tent and wait for NIN (thoughts of cancellations begin to set in)

Well, the unthinkable has happened. QOTSA and NIN were cancelled...Why the fuck am I here......How did I not get beat up by all the Germans who I cursed out.....Time to slip the shades on and withdraw for a few days...(yes the fucking date on my gf's camera is wrong; she doesn't know how to utilize the various fruits of technology).

DIE TOTEN HOSEN
Oh, I thought DIE TOTEN HOSEN was the literal german wording for "Washed-Up Shitty Band" As you can see, I do not speak german or give a shit about shitty german music

It means "The dead pants" or something similar.
Master Traveler
Die Toten Hosen.

Hahahaha.

Never liked them.
They only had one cool song, and this was "10 kleine Jägermeister". The rest is crap in my eyes ...

Fortuna Düsseldorf, haha. :D

I still cannot exactly tell what is what in this picture, although I'm not denying that it's a stonehenge backdrop, or that it destroyed trent's guitars.

Message from the Toten Hosen about the Greenfield incident and the diss from Trent... (sry no time to translate all, but someone will surely do it ;-)

Shorty: If you and your Crew did't ran to the hotel at the first rain drops, you had seen that the local crew had to let down all backdrops of security reasons.
Because your crew let in panic half the equipement on the stage, the backdrops were let down on your material.
But your crew didn't told you, that it wasn't that hard, and you can stop to cry, because those guitars where taken only on stage to be destroyed during the show...
sorry, and to forget. your hosen.
Master ad Vitam
What a bunch of clowns. This makes me very angry.
Bricklayer
well the statement (diss) of trent also wasn't that right imho.
I think that was a stupid situation without coordination during this storm. For me it seems justified to let down all backdrops on the stage. but why the equipement of NIN was still under i can't tell. But also i don't think that the hosen crew or the local crew destroyed something express.
Shitty situation for us as NIN fans, but to give all the faults to the hosen crew isn't the fine art...
Bablefish Translation:

"Dear Trent Reznor of Nine inch of Nails, If you and your crew on letzen Saturday on the Greenfield not with the first rain drop muschimaessig driven into the hotel had waert and had withdrawn you american style scared on the Zimmerchen, then you would have also received that not our crew your guitar collection zerhackt, but the local security forceses, which had to let down all drops of baking of the stage because of the drawing up storm. Because in your panic half of your equipment had unfortunately forgotten it, then unfortunately stood under the stage rear wall, when one down-drove. But your coworkers have also forget you to tell that everything was not so bad and you must cry not further, because anyway only the guitar supply was concerned, which only rides along, so that you can zerkloppen it in the evening with the concert. Nothing for bad, sponge more drueber, your trousers."

KUNTZ! :x [/b]
Master Traveler
hmmm.. that's interesting... could someone make a proper translation?
Master of the Ninth Arch
another translation can be found by h6a6t6e in "NIN spotting" ....
I totally agree with the Swiss people who blame the Germans! :D

First they bring war across the world and then they destroy the NIN equipment! What comes next!!??

That's the biggest shit I ever heard of!

I'm not a big fan of Die Toten Hosen, but they played a great show that evening and if they were not able to play at friday they would have played at saturday.
Maybe NIN had to play somewhere else, I don't know and I don't care, because the statement against the Hosen on the NIN page is just poor.... I can't imagine that sombody destroyed the equipment with intention.

So please NIN, stay at home! That's better for your fans who paid 1000 dollars to follow you to Switzerland. You also said that you don't like festivals in Europe!
the toten hosen kinda blame the nin-crew (not the band) for leaving the half of the bands equipement. it seems as if they had forgotten it, perhaps a bit confused by the sudden rain...
actually, i cannot imagine that die hosen would deliberately destroy someone elses stuff. i mean, they are not a really good band, playing the same dull music for 25 years, but i think they do have a bit of respect for other peoples things.
the statement on nin.com was not really of the fine kind. there is a word in german for that, it's called 'zickig', i think the english expression is 'bitchy'. but die hosen end their letter with a 'let's forget about it...' what i think is the best way of handling situations like these. (i guess nin did not forget to make an insurance on their equipement, so the financial damage should not be that big either...)
what i do not understand is the latent animosity towards germany and germans which can be found in some of trents statements. like the kugelsack. by the way, can someone tell me, what a kugelsack is? i've been living in germany for like 15 years and i never heard it before. and i gotta tell, it sounds really stupid.
nevertheless, nin ist und bleibt eine der besten besten bands aller zeiten.
best regards,
resl
