NIN absolutely kicked ass! The setlist was a little short, but that was more than compensated by the energy of the band and crowd. Here is my recollection of the setlist:

Pinion
Wish
March of the pigs
The line begins to blur
Something I can never have
The hand that feeds
Terrible lie
Burn
Closer
Gave up
Love is not enough
Hurt
You know what you are
Starfuckers, Inc.
Head like a hole
This show completely blew away the doubts I had after the Paris gig.

The whole band was just so into it. And the crowd too actually - it clearly rubbed off on the band. The enthusiasm, the drive. Just great.

Too bad they didn't have time for Reptile...ha.
Damn. That show rocked. The whole day the crowed had been kinda meak. At the end of the day it turned out why: a lot of us where there for only one thing: NIN. (and a little for QOTSA and the Mars Volta, who canceled. Fuck Lenny Kravitz and REM)

Just wrote last night in 'upcoming topic':

Just got home.
The order is right.
Nice straight show; nothing new! A lot of energy.

Met the soundman of NIN (he was watching Lenny K. on the field with his partner) for the third time (after Berlin, Paris) and asked him again for giving me the playlist (after the show).
He told me that it was an impossible thing to do (he has his orders).
I asked him how Interlaken was: he told me he was suprised that nobody was killed during the awful weather.
After the show we shook hands and he gave us some NIN guitar-plectra (is that the right english word?).
Nice guy.................................

Now some rest till july 14th @ Brixton.

What was that clip they played before Pinion? The voice talking? Have they played it before?

i ave also wondered: theyve played this "song" also before the berlin & oberhausen show ...
plus always "MIA" before they enter the stage ...
Wow that show was fucking awesome!
they started with "Pinion" and then "Wish" The crowd went crazy!!!!!!!!!!
Trent and the band were really into it!
BEST LIVE SHOW I've ever seen

show was so amazing great !!! was standing in third row near right speaker, and this stupid chick wanted to push herself in front, but people didnt let her. she began to fight with another girl, and after the third time she got pulled out from the security, fuck that bitch, so she had nothing to look at any more :-).
NIN really rocked with so much power. Aaron got angry when his guitar didnt work well in the beginning. a bit pity they dont play so many songs of the new cd in Europe.
Berlin show was cool as well hope they will rock in Glasgow too as i will be there... YEAH
and people, stop all that bitching about muscles and membership and all shit, just enjoy the music

It was the first time I saw Nine Inch Nails, and after hearing all the positive reviews of their lives shows I couldn't wait to see them. And man, they did not disappoint! It was fucking amazing!! Both the band and the crowd were really into it. I've also read a couple of times that Jeordie looked bored on stage, but not this time. It was great fun to see him fighting with his guitar. Of course, the show was way too short. Goddamnit!! Next time, come and give a full concert here!

Great pics xani. You were probably standing somewhere near me. You wouldn't happen to be that blond girl who managed to smuggle that bottle of water inside, would you?
uhm...not unless you were the girl that talked to me and asked me if she could park her plastic bag next to me

i was the girl with the long dark hair , funky glasses and a black paper fan btw

Now that's something new ... Trent in a white shirt

Hmm, I can't recall seeing a girl with long dark and funky glasses. That could describe me.
Anwyay, the pics are wonderful. I really hope they come to the Netherlands again. At least I think we made a better impression than the Germans did judging from Trent's writings.

Hahaha. I'd almost forgotten how much the Dutch hate the Germans.
Master ad Vitam
At least I think we made a better impression than the Germans did judging from Trent's writings.
Especially the 'don't you'-part on Starfucker.......

The crowd screamed the words so fanatically and for such a long time, there was a stillness on stage and Trent was very impressed (he looked to the other bandmembers).

It was the best feedback what I've seen till now (after two times Astoria, Berlin and Paris).

The only thing German-people are good in, is 'Klatschen'!
indeed great response to the ´don´t you´s´ ...also visited the berlin gig and though it was longer and they played the frail/wretched as well as reptile and dead souls there, which i sort of expected here also... great show, great audience... (except for fighting girls in the third row, did not notice them but i think they deserve their own stage next time... missed the ´bow down´ part???)
not much to add really... except for seeing aaron throwing a bottle of water over Alessandro´s setup which made me curious about the stuff he´s using.?. seems to be waterproof... i didn´t take the oportunity to look at the setup from above in berlin, shame.. hope they have a balcony in the razzmatazz tomorrow. at the end jeordie threw his bass to the back of the stage and tried pulling it back to him using the cable, generating a nice sustain. too bad they didn´t do any encore, but definitely a good show.... 66 minutes?????
Does somebody taped the show ? or have videos ?
Bricklayer
i saw someone with a phone recording something that moved but i'm not sure
and i don't know how well known this place is, i found it through my livejournal when i was looking for nin syndication news
maybe someone who did record a video will find this place too :)

CLICHÉ-ALARM!!
Bricklayer
i'm dutch (and jewish) and i have nothing against germans in general
I think Trent Reznor is of jewish German descent. Reznor is a German last name.
Did anybody else spot Trent in the crowd watching Interpol play? Only a few people went up to him to get an autograpgh or a picture taken with him. After a few songs (when more people started recognizing him) he and his girlfriend disappeared backtage again.

Check out these cool pictures from Rockin' Park:
http://www.lechatnoir.nl/nin.html
Bricklayer
Shit! I didn't notice that! Where were they standing? Something like that only happened to me once when I saw three members of Radiohead in the crowd watching LIMP BIZKIT!! I spoke to Phil, the drummer, but he assured me when he said he didn't actually like them.

I know this is a really stupid, retarded fangirl question, but what did his girlfriend look like? Feel free to flame me.
Master Traveler
Finally evidence of it happening elsewhere aswell. Trent was also walking in the crowd at least in Provinssirock. See to pics in that thread. Maybe even the girlfriend is in those...?
Bricklayer
The girl on the right?
Image

By the way, I also saw your pic with Trent in the other thread seireeni. Wonderful!
I'm jealous. :x

Master Traveler
You didn't mistake me for the girlfriend...? j/k

So much for jokes. Lets wait for confirmation from others about this girl. To me it didn't seem like they'd be together. Could be a new development aswell. Who knows.

I don't really care either way, this all for the sakes of conversation.

I'm slowly recovering from the lucky meet. Life hasn't been easy to endure since. Nor have I been.
It's suddenly dawned on me my friends might be getting tired of the topic that is TR and NIN.
He's kind, he's big. I shoulda tried for an arm muscle shot with him, but yeah.. it's too late for that now.

<-- should be lucky for what she got and shutup already
that's the girl indeed... he had her arm around her while walking on the field. They were standing on the right side of the tent near the front of the stage... that is until people started noticing Trent and then he went to the side of the stage to see the rest of the Interpol performance.
Master of the Ninth Arch
interesting...
Master Traveler
Best show I've ever experienced!

Hilights we're the 'Don't you's and Trent saying: "Lets see if we can drown out the sounds of REM (Who were playing at the same time."

Here are some of my crappy photo's:

Here two video's I made with my cameraphone with really crappy sound (3gp-format; playable with Quicktime)
Something I Can Never Have
Video2 (The sound is so bad, I don't even know what song this is. I think it's Love Is Not Enough. But it give an nice idea of the light show)

Here you can 'see' Jeordi, Aaron and Alessandro backstage at the QOTSA performance:
Huey, Dewey and Louie
Rellay funny seeing them backstage. Three pale guys dressed in black, practicly sitting still. Although Aaron started to shake his head after a while.

Interesting to see that the local media did not even mention NIN. I think that there were a lot of fans that came especially for them. I don't know how many we were but the tent stage looked pretty full from where I stood. Just hope that there will be a NL stop with the tour of the next album.

And of course I was sitting on the left side of the tent near the front of the stage! :x

I remember reading somewhere that one fan talked to a nin band member and that he said they will probably return to europe in the next year. Fingers crossed.

i met trent in vienna last month and i asked him when he would come back to europe and he said next year!

I just hope in his mind Finland is europe aswell.
Bricklayer
a bit late, but directly after the rockin park performance i was on my way to spain...

i went backstage and i met trent... For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen!!!... I had a chat with him and took my picture with him and he was really nice. also got a guitar pic from him.

the show was sooooo cool! couldn't speak for a week!
Bricklayer
Wow! Good for you Eline. Can you post the pics in here perhaps? And how did you manage to get backstage?
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen, I wanted to be there so bad, but I coudn't, because of the stupid 18+ rule... A few people I know from school were there, but they didn't went to see NIN, just a few other shitty bands. How stupid is that! :?
Bricklayer
And btw, I hate the fact that he has a girlfriend. :x

(Now isn't that pathetic? :P )
Bricklayer
I have my ways of getting backstage!

But i have not yet developed the photos, i never take my digital camera with me, because i have a tendancy to lose it...

I will post as soon as i get it... but am just back from holiday...

Yes it is. Hahaha!!

Elineouwehand. I've always wanted to know how people manage to get backstage. I've never even tried, cause I know they would never let me go there, but still. :-(

By the way, you couldn't have chosen a worse day to come back from holiday.
Bricklayer
Tell me about it! Shit! Rain, thunder, hello! Get me to the airport and put me back on a plane! :D

Getting back there is not hard, all you need is try and some tricks up your sleeve, trust me!

Anyway, i thought the NIN performance was allright, but i wish i saw them in a small venue. Hearing REM in between songs sucked big time...

wow  that show was the best show I've ever seen in my whole life. I was there with some girls and they went to see Lenny and R.E.M but that was not very clever :D I'm not listening very long to there cd's (NIN) but I knew already a few songs

the intro was so cool and the gigantic pit when they came up the stage and started to play "wish" The best part of the show was with Starfuckers inc. when the crowd automaticcaly yelled the words : don't you It looked like Trent didn't expect that from the dutch Farmerboys and girls  :D I loved the show and I hope they come back in The Netherlands soon because I will go there without a doubt!!

I love NIN and Trent :-D

NIN was great! i didn't see them in Tilburg in '99 (too bad..) so it was the first time in 11 years of loving NIN that i got to see them! i stood at the front with my sister, in front of Jeordie (i think he looked bored though...)but got a good look at trent!
And Kim, probably i'm the blond girl who smuggled in the waterbottle...because there was a girl there who asked me how i got that in..and thought it was very clever how i did that..lol!
vincent wrote:Did anybody else spot Trent in the crowd watching Interpol play? Only a few people went up to him to get an autograpgh or a picture taken with him. After a few songs (when more people started recognizing him) he and his girlfriend disappeared backtage again.[/url]
This one dude approached him and I think he had his pic taken with Trent.

And err me and this other chick who came up to me were the only other ones, as far as I know, who approached Trent. I had so many doubts before I went up to him cus I don't think he gets a lot of chances to watch a gig with the rest of the crowd like that.. Didn't want to scare him off, let's just leave it at: He went off to prepare for his show!

He was kinda quiet but kind.
Bricklayer
Kristel wrote:And Kim, probably i'm the blond girl who smuggled in the waterbottle...because there was a girl there who asked me how i got that in..and thought it was very clever how i did that..lol!
Yes! That was me. Was your sister that younger girl standing behind you, who practically screamed her lungs out while singing along to the chorus of "Closer"? I looked at her to see where that was coming from and she had to laugh. It was hilarious!
Cool, i think we were standing next to eachother against the fence! Were you the Asian looking girl?? i really think we looked strange there, between al the goths etc..! i don't really look like an average NIN fan (you should have seen me ten years ago though..)
I was there with my younger sister and another girl i know, who we ran into on our way to the stage. i don't exactly know who it was, screaming her lungs out...i think it was that other girl and her friend..but i remember it! My sister was the one with red hair, standing behind me.
i also had problems with my bag, it was too big and not enough space..anyway, it was so fucking overwhelming, that i can't really recall that much of the show..and my pictures also were blurry...
but it is cool to run into you here! :D
Bricklayer
Yes, I was that Asian girl, and there were defintely a lot of goths there. I didn't even know they still existed. I also felt a bit out of place with my jeans and my pucca shirt, but what the hell.
And yes, that's why I always bring a small bag to concerts and festivals, even though you can't smuggle a bottle of water in those. 8)
Now let's hope they will come back here next year.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Man, NIN @ rocking park was just mindblowing. When it was finally over I just stood there for a few minutes, my mind was just blank, and it felt so good 8)

At the beginning i was standing in the middle (a bit to the right, but prette close to the absolute middle) but then Wish started.. wow

This was my first real concert so i didn't expect to end up in the middle of the pit

After "March of the pigs", I moved a bit to the back, so I ended up at the back end of the pit, (barely a few meters from where I was)
In front of me people where going crazy in the pit. Behind me was a girl, I was singing along and ik looked back and saw that I was the only thing keeping the pit idiots from pushing in to her. She smiled at me so I kept the idiots away .

I dont think i'll ever see a better (intense, emotional, energetic) concert ever.. That is untill NIN decides to come to Amsterdam for a full concert (1.5 hours or more would be great)
I definitely hope he comes back next year, but after the good welcome we gave him at rockin'park, i'm sure he will..
See you there at the front? Only a bit closer to Trent this time...lol!
Bricklayer
Definitely! A bit more to the right this time. :)
Perhaps we can catch some of Trent's sweat!

uhhh

hahahaha! no thank you! but i'd rather have trent's sweat all over me than from all the guys in the audience without a t-shirt...yuk!
what i almost forgot to tell, we were watching QOTSA next to the entrance to get in front of the stage. Something inside me told me to 'look right'and who did i see: Trent! i freaked out and yelled to my sister: trent reznor! i see trent reznor!
and then he was gone.... :-(
and walked right onto the festival!! :P like 10 meters away from us! the shock  was too big, so we didn't go up to him unfortunately (still regretting it) he was there with Jeordy and his girlfriend and some other guys..
But is was really cool, i felt like a 15 yr old schoolgirl again! I didn't catch much of the QOTSA show after that, on my big pink cloud!
Lowlands Festival is on friday, so i'll go check QOTSA out again! 8)
Master of the Ninth Arch
Yeah I also saw trent walking on the field, I was just sitting and he just walked by, so i followed him a bit and he took a picture with a girl (with a phone cam) and then he left to backstage.

Later I saw him walking again walking to another stage, I think to watch QOTSA, I dont know i really dont like them so I didnt go over there.
Bricklayer
Wow, that's really cool. I was also at the qotsa performance, and I've heard other people saying they also saw him watching Interpol, but I didn't see him, of course. Things like that only happened to me when I saw some radiohead members walking on the field during a limp bizkit gig. I managed to talk to the drummer, which totally made my day.

Oh, and have fun at Lowlands Kristel. I envy you.
I went to Rockin' Park for only one thing and that was NIN. It was one of the best day of my life because I was sitting right next to the stage when Interpol played and then I saw Trent walking towards the show (he came from backstage) and I went after him and got a picture taken with him and we had a little small talk. He's very kind, if anyone ever doubted that. And then the show kicked ass. I was as squashed as squashed can be afterwards, but it was one hell of a ride I would like to take if it was offered to me again, anytime, anywhere.

Yeah, that was me. I'd forgotten my digitalcam & then the only thing I could think of was my phone, the picture is slightly moved but I can still say I am on a picture with Trent Reznor.

i'm so stupid!!!
well lowlands was cool though, too bad NIN wasn't there.. :(
Bricklayer
So what bands did you see Kristel? What were the highlights? How was the weather, and the food? Did you see Marilyn Manson? He got a really nasty review on 3voor12.nl
Marilyn Manson was terrible!!it was the 5th time i saw them, the first time in 1996 in amsterdam was great, but al the other shows were crap. He's just doing the same routine over and over, and didn't show any heart and soul. not even an encore while they were the closing act on saturday! so arrogant... so i'm never going to MM again in my whole life..
Death from above 1979, 2 many dj's, korn, foo fighters and qotsa were the highlights of the weekend!
Bricklayer
Kristel wrote:i wish i had a picture of me with trent... :-(

Why do you feel stupid?

And yeah, I was planning on going to Lowlands too, but then I saw the line-up and I thought it sucked big time, and I'm too spoiled now I've seen Nine Inch Nails Í don't think anything will compare to that.

But I heard MM sucked, no contact with the people and the same show over and over again. I saw him at Fields of Rock and I was almost bored to death. But hey, his antichrist-period was the best.
Bricklayer

I spoke to some hardcore MM-fans and even they said the show sucked. I heard the weather was pretty good, actually.
Martine, i feel stupid for not going over to him and ask for a picture! But what the hell...
Weather was great!

I almost didn't do it just because I was terrified :P
But a friend told me that if I didn't do it I would regret it for the rest of my life. Pfieuw.

Lowlands and good weather? Wow

If only I could go to one of these American shows where nin plays with qotsa.
