First mother fuckers!!!!!!!!!!!

edit: er, just got back. Setlist was much the same as melbourne but they didnt play love is not enough and TDTWWA....maybe some others.

They played The big comedown.....and my brain's to mush to remember what else was different to melbourne.

Before I crash i'd just like to say Trent was so much more into it in Sydney and the crowd shit all over the Melbourne crowd..........and my dad can beat your dad up in a fight.

he "fucked up" during starfuckers and blamed the crowd for not clapping in time. funny stuff.

seven thumbs up

weeeeeeeeeeeeee

edit again: some dude tried to stage jump at the end and is in trouble. Aaron thought it was both funny and lame at the same time, well thats what it looked like.
Troll
awesome show.

trent didnt look sick to me. 8)

great setlist. they pretty much played the same stuff as the melbourne show, except they substituted "TDTWWWA,love is not enough with the big come down, and something else maybe"

wow. that aaron does a mad mix of kapoara along with the guitar playing. he went off.

everything was great, including me.

i didnt think the support band were as terrible as people on here were saying. perhaps they played alot better this time then they did in melbourne.

anyway, ill talk more about the gig later, or perhaps not.

cya pigs!

Yeah the bird shit's were better tonight. They got heckled more tho and had stuff thrown at them. lame.
Bricklayer
Just got home, two words: THEY ROCKED!!!!

Trent was awesome, the set list was great (just wished they played 'Only', but what can you do?). Loved how we were to blame for fucking up starfuckers, lol! It felt like it went by so fast. It was so great, one of the best nights of my life! :-D
Well after the pinion intro they launched into frail and the wretched , that seems to be different from all the other set lists ive seen
Master Traveler
I also was wishing very hard for 'only' but it was their best show ...way better than the BDO.
Both my sister and i were shocked that he started with a track from 'The Fragile' and not 'Pretty Hate Machine' as he usually does.

The funniest moment was Starfuckers Inc when he got all grouchy on us and told us we were clapping out of time ( i wasnt actually clapping so haha)... everyone laughed but you know i dont think he was joking...LOL

I also noticed he stuffed a few keys up on the keyboard when he was playing 'Hurt'... but hey we still love you anyway Trent.

We had such a good view of Trent and Twiggy...um sorry Jeordie but would of had a better one if it wasnt for that damn speaker.

Oh and i so know what the posters from Melbourne were talking about with Burn. I could hear myself sing( not a good thing believe me)... yep me and about 10 others who knew the words... the kiddies were all looking a bit dumb founded.

I am sooooooooooo glad he did Dead Souls, i am a massive Crow fan and Joy Division fan so it was so well received with me.

One last bit before i drop for the night. Anyone else notice a chick sitting on the side near Jeordie's end? probably one of their girlfriends... spend most of the set putting lip gloss on and playing with her phone. I notice the oddiest things i know.

Oooh and the security guards were a bit rough with the one guy that managed to stage dive...his arms must be hurting thats all im saying.

Looking forward to Saturday nights show ( tonight...woohoo)
Please let him play 'Only'
Or my wish list rarities - Perfect Drug , Happiness in Slavery or Last ( a girl can dream can't she?)
Master of the Ninth Arch
damn they didn't play only? again? geez. tough break.

man i was thinking yesterday, i would have loved to see the big comedown. that cant be the only switch though, or was it was a shorter set?
who knows , either he felt like making it a special setlist for sydney, or it could be because he wasnt feeling well. But who cares , trent in all his trenty goodness was on stage. I loved the bit where he fuct up starfuckers, it didnt matter who's fault it was it was great to see his big trenty grin. As for the dude who did the stage dive , who the hell would get that close to trent and want to leap away from him like that :D
Master of the Ninth Arch
Fuck. We just got back, and are absolutely trashed.

The show was fantastic, lighting great.

Apparently he interacted much more with the crowd than Melbourne.

I got to meet him at soundcheck, and heard some really interesting stuff. More to come on theninhotline. =D
Master Traveler
Thematiques wrote:

...LOL he barely spoke. He was more friendly when he was on the drugs.
Bricklayer
Just got home myself...

magnificent show !

Loved the psychedelic lighting.
I pity the epileptics in the audience *laughs*
Prince Adept
Way better than Melbourne

I was a barrier dork and was the oldest fucking person there, I swear

Going to hurt tomorrow, might have to nanna it and sit down!

The Big Comedown was particularly pleasing
Master Traveler
Just got back! Great show. Can't remember the setlist but was thrilled to hear something I can never have, Dead souls (also another crow fan here), Burn! I KNEW THE WORDS mwahahahahahaha!

I really wanted to hear Only and Right where it belongs but hey beggars cant be choosers!

Starfuckers inc was a crack up whether he meant it to be funny or not it was still hilarious!

The other hilarious moment was the mediocre opening act! When the singer had something thrown at him, his reply was "Next time throw something bigger you little C**T (Country without the ry) ;).

Wish I was seeing them tomorrow night!!!

To the guys that met Trent during soundcheck Is he a nice guy or an asshole? LoL.
Bricklayer
set was around 10mins shorter by my watch. much more enjoyable than melbourne i found.

regardless of whether the clapping put (or should have) put trent off in starf*ckers, it was really lousy clapping.

although he did seem like he was joking about it, i cant help but wonder if the set got shortened as "punishment" - basically it went starf*ckers - head like a hole, finish.

anyway hopefully i'll be able to pick up a cheapish ticket for tomorrow night too.
M3chanical M4n's Story of concert:-

Well , i was under pressure from the time i woke up on friday 19th August. Id missed the quick sellout of the first concert and was trying to land tickets to see the man.The pressure was my late night bid on ebay, would someone have bid higher than me on those precious tickets. But alas , i outbided the highest bidder and landed those tickets. Skip the rest of the Day, it was a normal working day, and to the concert right? ok

I met up with my friend, well call him mr x for legal reasons. We met up at hungry jacks , central station and caught a cab to the gig , arriving around .. 8:40 pm. I was quite surprised cause i thought i heard people had been there a while , and we quite easily got in at 8:40pm , was herded into a small area with many other black sheep to wait 20 minutes for trent to come on stage. So myself and mr x grabbed a couple of beers each , sat down and discussed our last 11 years of love for Trent Reznor. All of a sudden Mr piped up , "o yeah , i brought a presant for you". And discretly handed me a small capsul of

***** DRUG REFERENCE DELETED BY ADMIN ******

I hadnt expected that , lets face it , nobody needs any drugs or alcahol to enjoy trent on stage. But you know , when your handed something for free, you tend to accept it. So anyway, excluding the further parts that could quite possibly also result in

***** DRUG REFERENCE DELETED BY ADMIN ******

Some dude anounced "5 minutes till nine inch nails come on stage, no booze and no smoking inside"
or something along those lines.
So i went to the dunny , because i knew i wouldnt want to be going there any time soon. And they eventually let us in. I got to the back of the people who were directly behind the moshers. Frankly , i didnt have the energy to fight the people when i wanted to funk to trent. So i settled for standing on spot , wedged between others. And then the tingles ran up my spine as Pinion started, and the stage was black...the image appeared in my head of a toilet .. Then we had stage lighting and could see the man Ive been waiting since bdo 00 again to see, puttering around on his little keyboard. Doing the stuff Trent does best. It was "The Frail". I was surpised also , i expected probably , i dont know.. "wish"? b That surely could only mean he would play The wretched next. I figured it was because he wasnt feeling well. The next hour or so was pretty much a blur. I wasnt dissapointed in anything he did but i am biased. Ive idolized the man for a long time. Jeordie looked fantastic also.
I thought it would have been kinda cool if in "Burn" when trent was yelling "i never was a part of you" , we could have yelled back "BURN".. but i seemed to be the only one who thought that was a good idea.
Out of the songs from with teeth , id say "The hand that feeds" probably went off the most. I guess thats cause everyone knew that one. Trent did fuc up a couple of times but we love him for his imperfections too right?
He kinda seemed pissed of at times about people singing along. Like it seemed that the reason he stuffed up during "hurt" was maybe he was trying to change the timeing to throughout the people singing to it. But i could be just on...

***** DRUG REFERENCE DELETED BY ADMIN ******

Anyway , as ive said before , fucking up in staruckers was just awesome. Just for his interaction. He had a big grin on his face the whole time he was telling it was their fault ( ok i admit i wasnt clapping , but atleast i banged my head in time" I prefer to think smile on his face meant he was having fun. The dude who got on stage i didnt see get up , but i did see jump off, so that was kinda weird seeing this big hairy man just jump out from behind trent. (from my angle anyay)
It didnt phase Trent, probably because he knew that he could have snapped the poor boy in half with those huge biceps of his.
It was weird to see him not do hurt as the last song , i knew from his previous gigs that it wouldnt be his last this time around , but still seemed strange. I was glad we didnt have to start clapping for an encore, that he just went on and did more songs. The end eventually came , with head like a hole. I still found myself clapping in the chant afterswoods.

Slowly we all piled out of the place , bunching up in little clusters to fit through the doors, and we were out into the fresh, weed free smell of air. We went back to a pub afterwoods , had a beer and felt the two buzz'z of the concert and beer relax our sore limbs. Eventually we built the energy up and got a taxi home.It was an awesome night and ill bet it will be tommorow too. Bet your gland my rant is over eh?
What a great concert!

I've been avoiding looking at setlists and stuff for other cities so I was surpised and pleased with it all.

The setlist was:
The Frail
The Wretched
Wish
Sin
The Line Begins To Blur
March Of The Pigs
Something I Can Never Have
The Hand That Feeds
With Teeth
Terrible Lie
Closer
Home
The Big Come Down
Burn
Reptile
You Know What You Are
Suck
Gave Up
Hurt
Dead Souls
Starfuckers, Inc.
Head Like A Hole

Wow. The Big Come Down rocked my world, and I loved how they put elements of Down In It into Closer.

Can't wait for tonight! Hopefully he'll do Love Is Not Enough :-D
Master of the Ninth Arch
did anyone see the drumkit, or maybe just the symbols fall apart just as suck started? and did anyone hear the little shit up the back yell during hurt "get on with it" or something along those lines. I hope that little tool got gutterstomped
Master Traveler
Yeah, i wanted to hit that guy.

The setlist was really good, they replayed burn and dead souls, and played the big comedown. I got to meet the guitar techs, and don't like the big come down because he's gotta do the work for guitars the band don't usually use. Alessandro likes the big come down because he gets to play guitar :D

Trent wasn't impressed when I gave him hair gel and a JD Cap :(

But yeah, spiral meeting was fanastic- a great opportunity for fans... the last song on the sound check was Wish and that was PERFECT.

Oh yeah, Trent did turn his head a lot, looked his he was coughing or something. Not good :(

The band (and crew) love the weather here, it might be a bit cold, but Japan was so sweltering and hot, Australia is like "the perfect" weather, according to Sully.

If you saw Aaron North closely, rocking out, he had a red towel from his back pocket, I gave him that! And the reason why he has a red hankerchief isn't because he likes it in the pooper, but because he has really sweaty hands and it fucks up his strings.

I was talking to Alessandro after the show and we got talking about tonights show and Arena tour, I'm not going to spoil anything, but tonight... it's going to be really good if they do play the song (it hasn't been played much this tour).

Alessandro and Aaron are the nicest people! So is the guitar tech guy, I think his name is Scott. The drum tech guy is pretty cool as well.

Anyways, I'll see some of you guys tonight. Have Fun!
Master of the Ninth Arch
ok so no tdtwwa, love is not enough.

but you got comedown.

tough trade.

that synth line in closer, is it "down in it" or "the only time"? its from the only time isnt it, thats what its being refered to i think.
Master Traveler
Absolutely fantastic show. Aaron is fantabulous.

The people hating on the BirdBlobs are LAME. They weren't that bad. Pink Floyd could have walked on the stage and some of the dimwits in the crowd would have had a go at them.
Master of the Ninth Arch
i have entered the twilight zone
HAHA, what can i say apart from FUCKING AMAZING!

anywho here is a link to the 'star fuckers fuckup'

http://www.geocities.com/ryan_bornen/sy ... fuckup.WMV

enjoy!

( forgive the darkness at the end, the crowd was going nuts!!)
Master Traveler
lol, thanks!

Screw every mother fucker who heckles Trent during Hurt. Has happened in Melbourne & Sydney. So fucking what if the composition is slower than what you might be used to, enjoy it! You'll only get to hear it this way once or twice....
Bricklayer
hehehe, crowd coulda got into it more. ive seen crowds better in this way in shitty local gigs. the band were awsome, but dont talk up bird blobs, he couldnt sing, the guitars were over the toply discordant and they were pretty out of time. they were the wrong band to pick to support NINE INCH NAILS. But thats too negative for such a wonderful night. He was very thankful of us, and that bit in hurt where "he fucked up", he seemed to just impro around a bit on one of the verse bars, like, change a couple of notes, so i dont know if you could call it another stuff up. Awsome, except the wankers spoiling the mood of hurt with their immature "trent, have my baby" calls. Someone shoulda got a setlist, lets see a post of it.
Master of the Ninth Arch
we've been supposing that there's too many kiddies who have never heard of burn, thus only the "hits" and new songs get going.
Master Traveler

Don't get me wrong, I didn't think they were great. But Death From Above and Autolux aren't exactly "NIN-like" and people seem to be looking forward to them. I just thought it was crap that a lot of people had decided that they wouldn't give them a chance before they even walked out. If you don't like it, walk up to the bar and get another drink.
good show, the crowd was quite placid..and i was caught by a surge from the back of the mosh to the fourth front row, i moved from in front of aaron to in front of twiggy so i got a taste of almost every part of the mosh, it really didn't go off very much, a lot of people didn't know the words to awesome awesome songs like Burn, Dead Souls and Terrible Lie...it felt shit singing along with like a few other people when i'm near the front...isn't everyone meant to be hardcore fans there?? Also there was hardly any sing a along to the second verse of hurt...

overall a good gig, but i've seen better, the wretched, wish and sin start was fucking awesome though, sort of tapered out afterwards. but then i don't think anyone can complain about how head like a hoooooole ended the night
Master Traveler
The start, with Trent silouetted while he did The Frail, was quite magical.
Bricklayer
i agree
Bricklayer
i loved the lighting, it got a bit intense at times, but overall, it worked perfectly. hurt was brilliant, it always is, but hearing that big ending live is something else. the big come down was an awesome addition too. what a beautiful night.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Outstanding show, the band was fantastic and reptile was an awesome treat.

The crowd i was extremely disappointed with, standing in line with trent a few rows back i got pretty badly beaten by multiple assholes, the worst of which was a total dipshit intentionally elbowing me full force in the throat as i was trying to catch my breath just so he could gain a spot. Besides that trents tambourine took the skin and flesh off the side of my ring finger as one of the circular metal bits came into contact with my finger as i was trying to catch it.

But as i said, the show was spectacular, and the *fuckers fuckup was pretty funny, trent clearly saw the humor to it and it just made the show more memorable.

I have a tonne of images (100+) if I can be bothered I'll add more later for Melbourne & Sydney 19. I'll add some for Sydney 20 too.

Too tired to concentrate & gotta get ready for tonight now....

My versions of the photos are much larger than the ones on the site. If you want/need larger versions email contact at bottom of page.
Master of the Ninth Arch
oh. my. god.
best fucking thing ever

so good. i thought the crowd was fully into it and there were not placid at all. i was getting nailed (and i have been to slipknot, metallica at BDO etc) and i thought it was really violent at times.
awesome setlist. but hated how it went from pinion to the frail. it ruined the built up energy which would have transferred do well into wish.
the crowd sang so loud someitmes you could barely hear trent.

to those people who saw jerome's kit get destroyed - becoming only one cymbal, snare and bass drum - thats because aaron got stuck and wiped out the toms, most other cymbals, nearly all the mics, and the digital pads. it was really funny watching his drum tech trying to fix it (it took nearly half of gave up, which was the next song, to do it) :D

ummm.... the starfuckers part was funny. he was being serious. he was pissed off but tried to pass it off as just joking around. but really, to the people clapping out of time, how fucking hard it is to stay in time when there is 2/3 of the crowd clapping in time? all you have to do is follow...

reptile went off, as did the big come down.
no one moved during burn as they didnt know it.

trent fully got into it. went apeshit. seemed like he was enjoying himself a lot.
i thought aaron was going to go a little more psycho. he still was but it seemed he was much more placid than i had read he was. he was probably tired.
jeordie was very active, as was Alessandro (which i was really impressed with) and of course jerome who is always fantstic.

oh and i nearly cried in hurt but as i was about to, tr fucked up. amused me though... what a soppy piece of crap i am

i was totally fucked after. totally anihilated.
thats all for now
cant wait for tonight. round 2!

edit: i heard chitter chatter about tonight having a song that has been played as many times as you can count on your fingers. if you can work it out... expect it!
Master of the Ninth Arch
On that note, a friend of mine got her copy of "Light of Day" signed by the entire band.

TR looked scared, than bemused when he saw it.

i was probably one of those people. i was singing as loud as possible and trying to jump up and down but retards kept pushing from the back.
i was refering mainly to the rest of the crowd.

i was the blonde hair tall guy in a white shirt (which is now a dirty grey colour) at the front kinda to the right someitmes then other times to the left. occasionally in the middle.
and i clobbered someone with an elbow - so if it was you im sorry

Any figure on crowd size last night? All three stands were open so it must have been fairly large.
Prince Adept
I was at the front and the crowd definitely weren't placid around me. Shitloads of people got pulled out (most over my head grrr)

Everyday is exactly the same is my guess for the little played song.
Last night was awesome.

I was actually surprised that people around me didn't know the words to a few of the songs, in particular Home. I think I was the only one in my area singing that and moving, everyone else just stood there. Same with Dead Souls and Burn, oh well, still a great night
Bricklayer
Dam Ozzies with no rhythm.

Taped the show on DAT, TCD-D8>ECM717.

Taping the other show tonight. Will be ready to trade with other people who have taped the AUSTRALIAN tour only next week when I get back to New Zealand.

Keep it real

during suck, some guy was chanting "burn, burn burn" during the suck, suck, suck bit.

let me start off by saying that last night was my very first concert ever (kinda sad since i'm turning 18 next month) anyway it was so friggin awesome!! I was with my friend on the disabled platform (my friend was on crutches), i really wanted to go into the mosh pit but i didn;t want to leave her by herself.
Trent was so awesome, *fuckers was hilarious!..I also found it pretty funny that during one of the songs (can't remember which one) trent was jirating the microphone stand lol.

it was probably a sellout, just like nin.com said it would be. serves you naysayers right for beleiving in yourselves and your corporations too much now that you look like fools for doubting nins intentions. a sellout horden is 9000 i hear, but others say 8000, seing as it was packed id say the former.

The hordern aint that big.
It has a 5500 person capacity for GA events like this, thats why theres 2 sydney shows.

Show was pretty damn good.
People shouldnt clap so much!
and aaron needs to settle down a bit.
This was a great show, but it didn't compare to Melbourne. I think the biggest difference between the two concerts was that the number of fuckwits in Sydney increased about tenfold. Melbourne crowd was a lot more chilled out and for some reason a LOT shorter. Sydney also had a heap of crowd surfers, and in Melbourne I honesty think I saw one all night. Had a fantastic view in Melbourne and sound was better from where we were standing. Also, I think hearing TDTWWA made a massive difference, because that was huge.

Performance-wise, the band was probably more into it in Sydney, especially Jeordie who had great stage presence but barely moved in Melbourne. Trent said that his voice was actually fairly off in Melbourne because of jetlag, climate change etc., but it sounded pretty damn good. There were more fuck-ups in Sydney, mostly tech stuff though, the most noteable one in Closer when the sound just started buzzing after the first chorus. I'm pretty sure it was Alessandro's gear, because he started panicking, but all in all, the band were all incredibly professional.

It was great in Sydney to have the oppurtunity to meet the band and watch the practice session (it wasn't a soundcheck), and Sully (who let us in) was a really nice guy, had some cool stories. Meeting the band was good, especially because the conversations and such didn't seem to forced. Had a good chat to Aaron about Buddyhead. I found he and Jerome to be the most talkative, although my friend had a good chat with Trent. God damn, Jerome is the essence of cool. Had a coincidental meeting wiith Thematiques as well which was cool. If you remember, I was the guy standing next to you in the Radiohead shirt.

This mini-review is of course void of relevance, because you've already read most of what I said in ther people's words, but mine is better.

Oh Timerly, where do you get off?

Yeah great show. A huge amount of goths and a large amount of ditzy chicks. Here are my favouritte quotes from the stupid teeny boppers, if only because of their stupidity:

"Play it again!" - after Closer
"Take off your shirt!" - Can you say lame?
"Thats the only song I know" - After The Hand That Feeds
"Is this a Sabbath song?" - As Trent says the first few lines of Dead Souls
"I liked Trent before anyone else did. When he made The Broken Spiral" - Went all the way down to roffle town with that one.

Shh, don't say that here. If you don't know every word to every song you don't deserve to be a fan

Personally I love it when I see people getting into the with teeth songs more than the others, It means they're new fans :)

I'm so sick of people bitching because the new fans don't know the words to suck etc

btw did anyone see what happened with those guy's in suits before they got in a spot of bother with the cops? They were bitching about some NIN fans or something giving them shit.

smilgurb wrote:Personally I love it when I see people getting into the with teeth songs more than the others, It means they're new fans :)
I had to register after reading that comment...

You are not serious are you? I've been a long term fan and I really got into the With Teeth material because though the older tracks have their limelight (closer and reptile... my throat is still sore from screaming in appreciation), I really wanted to hear the new songs played live and support trent in performing his new songs. I was just flabbergasted with Home (I got my wish that that would hopefully play ... and it did!). But nothing shits me more with "long time fans" thrashing to his older material and then standing there still as new stuff plays (that by definition is not a long term fan).

My thoughts on the show... it was just awesome. Burn was one of my favourite tracks played on the night. It sounded great. The only minus was the crowd at the front. They were a bunch of assholes. It's cool to get excited but not at the expense of elbowing people in the face to get closer. That's not cool. If I hadn't kept my cool... punches would have flown but a riot might have started and I wanted to enjoy the show.

Anyone see that cute asian chick in the audience with vampire red contacts and red & black belt buckles for hair (or something)? Though I'm into glamour chicks usually, this little goth exotic cutie certainly caught my attention :)

Ah yes I was serious, and I agree with you too.

Maybe you misread my post?

Comments I've heard that have pissed me off...

"Don't forget your roots trent" when something from with teeth was being played, can't remember what

"Play some oldschool stuff Trent, we're sick of this" - During piggy (go figure)

"I can barely see or hear anything from here" - eatyourblud at the Melbourne gig (ok, that one made me snigger a bit)
Master Traveler
Well i have been listening to NIN for 15 years and i still knew all the words. I would gladly pass up PHM songs for some more of The Fragile.

Some people go the concerts for the music and some go for the fashion statement, or simply to pick up people ( though kind of expensive if thats all you cared about)... i met a bunch of them in the drink line who were off their face on something who casually just said that their whole aim going there was to pick up underaged goth/fettish chicks - hey whatever takes your fancy.

Trent improves with age - just like a good wine
i saw the syd show on friday night, just reading all your posts now...

i thought it was awesome also, i was front row, centre! and apart from still nursing some bruises from the barrier, i can say the show has left a major impact on me :)

i too heard the crowd go quieter when they played burn ;) but in between being squashed by security gueards, tried to sing along!

i was not only right underneath the freak that tried t stage dive, I was also just to the side when trent himself came into the crowd...wow

i can barely sleep, im STILL excited that i touched him :)

hey6, what happend to the sorta biggish guy that stage dived, did he make it past the barrier or what? did he get drilled?
Master of the Ninth Arch
i dont knowt know where the stage diver came from...first I saw of him was him jumping off the stage and crashing into my brother who was next to me.....he kindaly cut my brothers finger open - that was nice of him!

have no idea where he came from though...!

i hope your brother was ok.

the guy looked kinda big.
Master of the Ninth Arch
the guy was big and fat and hairy! luckily we were right on the barrier at the front, so my brother just let his hand flop over the bar.....and drip blood all over the floor!!

but we had no-where to go at that stage, so just stood it out :)

i had never been at the front for anything....i was proud i lasted the distance seeing as there seemed to be sme pushy boys behing me who thought that they could push a girl outta the way! i showed them ;)

mind you, i think that could be why i had chewing gum stuck in my hair!!!
Master of the Ninth Arch
p.s. if rammsteinlurker is around - i met you before the show, you had a vinal for the guys to sign and ducked off while I was talking to sully :) how did you get backstage/to talk to the guys again at the end? im sad i didnt get to :(((

that sucks.

i remember being deep in the mosh pit at BDO when nin were there, and there was a girl next to me and she was bleeding from her piercings in her lips, and tongue, it took her about half an hour to get out of there.
Master of the Ninth Arch
im with you re your posting in the 20 aug show - i so hope that they dont play BDO when they come back...mind you, i cant believe that they are coming back so soon! i hope its not an indication that there may be only limited new material coming out...i.e. i want trent to keep writing well into mick jaggers age league please!!

also, im devastated i didnt got to sat nights show - im so dumb, i was so excited to see the soundcheck before the show and meet them, i thought that would satisfy me. but it didnt!!1 argh!! i still want more now...more more more!!

That was a night I will store away forever. I loved the build up to the show, which made The Frail greater than ever (not that its ever needed any help). The mix of songs was intense; it was great to hear some of the crazier anger-releasing songs amongst slower songs. The slower ones gave a chance to breathe! I can't believe we were lucky enough to get Something I Can Never Have AND Hurt. Trent was into it emotionally, which was such a treat for the fans. I was looking forward to March Of The Pigs, and yes, my Pig needs were satisfied! With Teeth was an excellent live track. I don't know why, but it was so mad watching Trent sing Wiffffa Teeffffa!!! He was so into it.

The regulars where insane- the lighting during Closer set the mood so intensely. I jumped around so much. I started off in the pit, but got pushed to the back of it, where I spent most of the condert. It was the best spot! We were all jumping around, and weren't getting crushed to death. it was the best way to enjoy the show.

I think knowing the words to all the songs makes it so much better. It was great being surrounded by people who appreciated NIN as much as I do...we were singing up a storm. As has been said before, Reptile and The Big Come Down were so goddam brilliant.

I met so many cool people, but I didn't get any numbers or emails! I was wearing the white DIY With Teeth shirt and jeans. If you were one of the people talking to me, email please! You all rock.
Master Traveler
Hey fragile princess, i've probably remember you by face but right now it's a blank.

I got the pass off one of the roadie guys. You just had to be nice and ask for one :)

I got one for the 2nd sydney show but only North, Dillion and White came, the rest were feeling sick and tired.

Great time though, I'll get my photos develope and upload em somewhere for all you guys!

That was intense. I figured they were going to play burn and I can't say I was surprised that most people didn't know the words. Same goes for dead souls. It doesn't really matter...a lot of the singing was pretty off key anyway (and I'm not denying I was one of those people.)

I've never seen NIN before. It's bizarre though...I wouldn't consider myself a "new" fan because I've been into them for years, however, the last time they came to Australia I was 12 years old.
But I've been waiting since then, and fuck, it was worth it.
didnt they play only? i member the "there is no you. there is only ME!...there is no FUCKING YOU..."

when i say the mosh was placid, i don't really mean it wasn't violent, there just wasn't that much moshing or frenzied movement ;(, there were dickheads throwing elbows around as always

the point of singing along isn't so that you sing well! thats trents job! the point of singing along is to create atmosphere...plus if there were like a few hundred singing along then it wouldn't sound so bad, if there's like 15 singing along then it does sound bloody awful
Man. fucking intense. Suck.

KMFDM Guy! I was 'accepted the crappy tie and manson patched wallet (hahah man that wallet cracks me up) guy! Damn you left before I could get you to sign the tie. Alas, maybe next time.

Oh. Super crushing. So very very good. Highlights: Suck (girl thats my song! uhh!) Reptile, Hurt, The Frail/wretched, heck, you were there maaaaan! you know all about it. The hordern aint that big.
It has a 5500 person capacity for GA events like this, thats why theres 2 sydney shows.
I was right up the front for the whole gig (not that I had a choice to move with the crush), and can confirm from chatting with the security guards pre-show that it was 5500.

rammsteinlurker: hahahaha at the girl with the ripoff NIN shirt. That was the funniest thing I've seen all day. "Oh well, I'm not here to make friends, I'm here to rock out."

turkus: nice green tie, dude. :)

This concert was definitely better than Melbourne. So many funny things happened (like with rammsteinlurker) when following NIN around the East Coast... I'll post a full story (and some crappy photos) later. Right now, I'm happy to be finally back in Adelaide and about to catch some Z's.

Possibly lame....

I dont know if anyone else feels this way, but....

I have always been addicted to NIN, however after meeting them and seeing the show on Friday.....I am totally consumed by them....having trouble working and concentrating and that sort of thing..

kinda freaking me out..!!!

ok for all the hardcore fans,

1) my friend kissed trent when he was in the audience
2) we had a mad convo (and photos) with trent at his hotel, and backstage people didn't get to meet him cause he was tired and wanted a shower but he is the nicest of them all

sorry

Was NIN the first famous band you have ever met? When I met the KMFDM crew for the first time, I was the same way for days. Now that I’ve met them a couple of times I’m not so distracted by it.
Master of the Ninth Arch
yea, NIN are the first famous band i have met...mind you...if I was Lou Lou I would be beside myself - good on you for getting so close, I would have done anything to be in your situation!

however, as i am beside myself for just shaking trent's hand and chatting with him- if i had been in their hotel room, god only knows what state id be in now!!!

hey lou lou - did you get any info as to how soon again they'll be back in aus?
Bricklayer
yeah they'll be back in march april ish and doing big day out 2007
Master of the Ninth Arch
excellent....glad that you had such a good time with them :) im green with envy, but glad that i at least just got to meet them!!!

not that it matters now as they have left sydney, but where were they staying? are you a spiral member?
Bricklayer
i don't know if i'm allowed to say bacuse of when they come back.
i'm not a spiral member just ended up being lucky and now people are bitching about me on the second show's forum.
so i shouldn't say too much but apc stayed there in feb last year so if u know that then that's where they were
Master of the Ninth Arch
no no, thats cool, i understand - i guess i was just wondering what kind of place they would stay at is all :)

well i just think you are super lucky - sometimes you are in the right place at the right time, like im just a spiral member that was chosen for the soundcheck and stuff.. lots of other people didnt even get that!!!

i looked ferral after the show having been in the front row against the barrier, dripping in other people's sweat....so i guess i let trent see me at my best before the show hahaha
Bricklayer
it was a nice hotel. most bands stay there but they barely did cause we were clubbing all night

I got backstage that night, that fucking blew me away (understatement of the year), so unexpected - it was my first time and i'm so glad my first time was with NIN... all I can say is Jerome is quite possibly the most awesome guy in the world. I wasn't expecting Jeordie to be there, i thought he would have evacuated with Trent, haha.

i was seated for this concert, it was nice experiencing both settings. The lights were indeed brilliant as has been stated many times.

Like everyone else here, I fell in love with the first Sydney concert. It was much better than Melbourne. Starfuckers was the highlight of my night, as well as hearing Reptile live. I'll never get tired of that song.

I tried my best to take pictures, but a few weeks ago a friend of mine broke my digital camera, so I had to settle for crappy disposables. Did the best I could with them, but you couldn't turn the damn flash off.

I also typed up all the funny stories from ETS memebers in the lineup to go with the pictures.

Hey everyone...I'm new to this site, but I see it's the Nine Inch Nails fan meeting place...lol.
I went to the Friday night show and FUCKING HELL that was the best and most amazing show i have ever witnessed, and I have witnessed many.
I love the fact they did Dead Souls, that is one of my favourite songs! And before it started i was saying..."I hope they play The Wretched" and it was the third song!!!!!!!!! I was so satisfied and the fact that when trent climbed off the stage and threw his pick and I CAUGHT IT made it so special!!
It's nice to see such a fantastic response from them in Australia...where has the rumour about them coming back in March/April surfaced from...a reliable source i hope?? And did anyone hear the interview on JJJ?? it was great, he loves the response here guys :D
Master Traveler
Welcome WR, enjoy your stay. Heaps of people have been signing up lately (including me!)... after lurking around for 3 years hehe.

Yeah, Friday was heaps good. The big come down was my favourite song!
Master Traveler
I had a rockin good time in the segment of the crowd that I was in (Aaron's side at the fringe of what I'll call the 'seccondary layer' of mosh pit)- lots of teenyboppers there but they were all really getting into it- even the stuff they didn't know. Of course I know all the words so I was singing my guts out enough for everyone around, but there were lots of others around me who knew the words to Burn and the older tracks as well. I kind of felt like the big daddy of the group where i was which was fun because they were a good group. If you were around there PM me and say hi- I was the skinny guy in the brown Primus Tshirt and cams.

And fuvk! I have always wanted to start a big clap or a chant at a show and tonight I did it! Although completely unintentionally-

It was during hurt, I was totally getting into it- just lost in the song clapping along and when Trent got to "...you are someone else, I am still right here" and he paused I just continued clapping... and no one else was because he had stopped still. On my third clap a couple of people around me started as well, and on my fourth I heard a few more a bit further out. I could hear the claps growing and spreading out around me like the ripples in a pond getting steadily louder with each beat as the crowd gathered momentum until about 8 claps after my first one, the whole hall seemed to be clapping along.

It was a very special moment for me- kind of a butterfly effect thing, The sound as it spread out all around me was unique- kind of like being at ground zero of an atom bomb as the shockwave spreads out.

Also I've been reading a lot about people saying that Trent stuffed up during hurt. I didn't notice this (not to say it didnt happen) but what I did notice was that he had some sort of pitch modulation on his keyboard that was randomly tuning and de-tuning the notes he played. At times this made it sound like he was playing bum notes every now and again, but it wasn't. It did give it a 'broken' kind of feel though which i thought was cool. He didn't use this effect when he did Hurt at Saturday's show.

the JJJ interview with trent is really good, you should all go have a listen. gives a really good indication of where is mind is at the moment, and its so good to hear him speak so optimistically about his work and what he's doing :)))

I know who you mean, saw her there both nights. Really beautiful, must be a girlfriend (lucky bitch) , didn't look like a typical female NIN fan/groupie. She was standing with Jerome talking to him at the aftershow party. She had an American accent. I think that the band is in to the groupie scene. There were a ton at the afterparty and I heard them inviting girls to the hotel they were staying at.

I think I know who you're talking about. . . brown, hair, average height. . . as far as the groupie scene: boys will be boys :)

They played a great set though.
Master of the Ninth Arch
i didnt notice much else once the second layer of the pit filled up - being short and against the barrier made it impossible to turn around and see anything else....so i did not see this brown hair girlfriend-esque person you speak of...

however i did get good views of security gueard stomachs and armpitts ;)

and i did have to battle a layer of boys who suddenly felt like pushing their way to the fron towards the end of the show.....HA! to you that im a girl and you couldnt get me to move ;) hehe i stood my ground!! i even survived through the weird girations people these boys were doing to my back during starfuckers ;)

muhahahahaha

Mosh at this show was much better than Melbourne I got knocked over during March of the Pigs, so thanks to whoever helped me up.

Not sure, bands don't usually turn up to these things, mainly because newbies come and swamp them with already answered questions on nin.com :D

So i really doubt they went to stage 11, I know everyone but Trent went backstage aftershow for a little while...

hellooooo :)

can anyone tell me if the t-shirts and hoodies on the nin.com site are the same as what was being sold at the actual shows?

i was suffering from old lady back from the mosh and chewing gum in my hair...and the crowd at the tshirt place was overwhelming..

i know im probably going to have to pay more, but if someone could tell me if they are the same, that would be good :)

and also - any chickies who bought t-shirts and stuff, can you tell me what normal sizes the smalls, meds and larges are like?

i would appreciate it :))))))
Prince Adept
The girls tshirts are one size only.

I got a small in the men's ones and it's OK, a bit big.

The hoodies are a good fit though, I got a small in that. (mens WT hoody, not the PHM one)
Master of the Ninth Arch
i have just a plain NIN girls shirt from Utopia (one size) but it aint my size...its a bit short grrr

so if i ordered a small WT hoodie from the nin.com store, that would fit me - im like a size 10ish ? the ones on the web have a zipper all the way down the front, i dont think they ones at the show did...

thanks for your help naut :-)
Prince Adept
The show ones are just pull on, no zip. But I'm about a size 10 and they are a decent fit.
Master of the Ninth Arch
cool, thanks naut :D
Master Traveler
It would probably be difficult to tell, becuase it depends on where they are made. Different companies can get contracts to supply the same T-shirt design to different parts of the world.

The Hoody I got was made in Mexico and is probably exactly the same as the ones on nin.com but the t-shirt i got was made in Bangladesh. its hard to beleive that the merch company would farm out all the Tshirts from the american web store to Bangladesh when there are so many sweat shops readily available just to the south of Texas.
Master of the Ninth Arch
mmm

thanks for the advice re the sizes...in general im a medium for 99% of things, so unless the shirts are made for linsday lohan and the gang, the medium should fit me...might try to find a shop in syd that has some i can try on and buy there :)

go to Utopia. They often get concert T's in after big shows. Of course I'm sure you would have gone there anyway.

The rest of the band was clubbing or Trent was clubbing ??

I´ve got a hard time imagening them "clubbing" to be honest, because a) of jet lag and general post show exhaustion and b) I figure their (private) musical tastes to be soo different, that one would have a hard time finding one that fits all tastes...

And none of them come across like erm...much of dancers either so...I´m puzzled
They were all staying at the W, then afterwards Alessandro, Aaron, and Jeordie all went to some club in Kings Cross, so there you have it.

ohhhh :(

this time a week ago i was just getting to the hordern :(((((((((((

lol yeh, sad to see the momment pass away so quick :( I was counting down the days from when they first went on sale back in May i think, then as soon as i knew it, it was gone, but never forgotten :-D My fav would have to have been Reptile, went off as did the whole night:cool: (+Club blink after party :D )

to eveyone else, trent did not go clubbing, however he did want to go see bird blobs play at club 77 after the 2nd night

What, are you upset someone else found out your secret info about where they were staying?

no shit. if it isn't the itouchedtrent_reznor wanker being an arrogant prick in the collection thread, or people harbouring australian bootlegs in the other sydney thread...

i mean, what the fuck? are you all like this in real life?
Master of the Ninth Arch
I have it on good authority that Trent preferred twix-filled pods to mars-filled ones. *nods* My nin info brings all the boys to the yards..

Jayshush, someone needs to entertain me. I'm friggin bored.

It's inhumane not to like pods. Your 'source' is wrong, even though his name starts with J and rhymes with Roadie.

And my pods supply is coming to an end. I brought SIX of them home and it's only been 3 days! Bugger.
Prince Adept
I am sure if you ask nicely someone will send you a Pod Package!
Master Traveler
Trent's favourite kind of Pods are iPods. nuff said.

Yeah, a friend is coming here in a week or so. A week until I get my pod fix *is giddy* I still have four Le Rice puddings that I'm saving up. Btw Woolworths' Carrot cake kicks ass. And it's less than two dollars. w00t. Okay, this belongs in the australian thread I believe.

Btw, iPods.. smart one.

I agree with that too, I was feeling really jealous before at all the people who got to meet them etc, but really I felt so satisfied after the concert that today when i think about it, it was truely enough. Everything they played I enjoyed and they still hold the trophy for my favourite band.
Master Traveler
yeah nin ain't bad huh?
Nah, they suck.

Kidding!

Damn, i haven't posted in this thread yet. i haven't ever read this thread yet.

i knew i should've made a post in here earlier, but i've been focusing on the other two threads of shows that i went to.

...i suppose i should read these nine pages before i rant on about my Friday 19th August experience.

It was an intense show, but probably my least favourite out of the three (NIN concerts) that i went to this month.
(more of my perspective/opinions/ramblings to come)
Master Traveler
no way. big come down.
Bricklayer
I think that this one was my favourite of the 3 I went to.

Mainly because my hands went wandering up his thigh for a few seconds and I licked him:P But, in all seriousness, I really enjoyed it the most. The Starfuckers thing was funny.

you licked him? please explain
Prince Adept
probably when he jumped down in front of the crowd during MOTP

That reminds me of the curly haired dude in Closure saying he's going to like Trent when he comes down onto the floor
Bricklayer
Yeah, MOTP. He came down in front of the barrier and leant over me.

I smelt kind of funny after the concert, although I'm sure that pretty much everyone else smelt the same. Although this is the Friday night thread, I managed to get his towel after the Saturday night concert, as well as two guitar picks and a setlist... Yeah.
Prince Adept
you licked his face? ergh!

post the setlist!
Bricklayer
It was sweaty, although I wasn't suprised by that.

Moved the setlist over to the sat night
Prince Adept
sweet thank you, trent licker!!

Actually i think this belongs on the Saturday show thread.....

Woops. Yeah, it is Saturday's. Sorry.

i wasn't referring to the choice of songs performed on the night. and "the big comedown" was something that i'd been really hoping for before the show (pretty much as soon as the melbourne show ended) and i was so fucking happy that they played it.
And besides, just because i said it was the least favourite doesn't mean i didn't love it! it was still a fantastic night despite almost dying in the moshpit and the damn tokers smoking further back in the floor area.
...like i said, i will post more later.
Weed smoke doesn't bother me in crowds. Sort of adds to the vibe. Cigarrette smoke, on the other hand, fucking sucks. It's heavy as fuck and just hangs around and blocks everyone from breathing... and I don't really smoke either these days.
Bricklayer
folks, in regards to the solo thingy in closer, i persoanlly think it was the only time, but its been so long now i could have no idea, thats just what i thought at the time.the synth riff in down in it is so similar to the one in the only time i actually thought they were the same thing for awhile. but who cares? it sounded good. would be funny to se em break into down in it when they return...
Master Traveler
You are right- it was definietely The Only Time. I never actually realised how similar those two little melodies actually were before until I went back and examined them closely against each other just now.
Master Traveler
the lead singer dude sings the lyrics in the little solo thing too!!!!

ps: it's the only time
Bricklayer
Hmm, yeah.

I think I'd laugh if they started to sing 'Down In It'. It would be kind of amusing.
The Only Time and Down In It sound nothing alike - nothing. anyone who gets them confused is deaf or retarded.

Did Trent call with your record contract yet Dopefinger?

Well, actually he did... and he wanted to book me to open for NIN on the Australian leg of the next tour as well. I told him I'd have to turn him down though, because I've already got a gig suporting Anthony Callea on those dates.

edit: er, just got back.

Trent didnt 'fuck up', somehow there are a bunch of people that go to concerts that dont have the basic concept of a steady rythym, yet feel the need to clap at inappropriate moments. For example, in hurt and star fuckers, there are parts where the music breaks down, and the rythym becomes more free; there are slight fluctuations in tempo. Trent as a performer needs to construct the rythym as he feels it during those momnets. It would be quite irritating if you were trying to feel a song while performing and there was a bunch of people clapping, all out of time with each other especially for such a simple rythym; 1,2 1,2 etc. I wouldnt be suprised if some of it came from confusion that people couldnt get such a simple thing as clapping in time.
It might also suggest that there are people that arent really connecting with him. For example: trent is singing a more moody sombre number. He is in a real heartfelt moment. Some stupid audience members whos favorite song is 'i wanna fuck you like an animal' get impatient and clap along, but theyre not clapping to the music, theyre not listening and responding to the music, theyre are clapping for themsleves, they wanna hurry up and hear the good stuff off their favorite 'album' broken.
Just found it strange to read that you would side with a bunch of idiots that cant clap a basic rythym. I thought it was great Trent did that.(stopped the show) I was also irritated. It was fucking ridiculous. It's not hard to clap in time. And we all know the place wasnt full of nin fans, now days at concerts there seems to be a large group of people that go just because a concert is on like it's the fucking easter show or something. Come enjoy the music, its for everyone, but dont ruin it for others.

(Did any one hear during hurt people calling out, 'get on with it'!! or 'play some real music'???
also possibly hearing at the same gig, it's about time when closer starts. Or on the second night... "get back on the drugs trent"
however this was followed by "shut the fuck up" rather quickly, well done.)
Something to add...

NIN@syd horden 19/8/05 during star fuckers

.....trent stopped the show during starfuckers....

... this might have been something planned for these kinds of situations, for trent stopped the song, explained himself, then NIN kicked back into starfuckers with great strength... suggesting it may be a manouver for situations where the crowd cannot clap in time or together and just becomes iritating.

point is, trent didnt fuck up. Especially in regard to that moment.
Prince Adept
I'm so glad someone cleared that up, even if it was almost a month after the gig!
A month? So it is!!!

I couldnt leave people with that dirty taste in their mouth, I dont like people mit die shiza shiza talk
Master of the Ninth Arch
It's strange though, because in a lot of songs Trent was encouraging the crowd to clap, especially in The Hand That Feeds, where Trent was clapping too.

Then again, Jeordie did the "cut it" sign across his neck when the song fucked up, so it could have been staged, but I doubt it.
Bricklayer
You can't stage something when it's the audience that's doing it??

Anyway.. Stuff like that happens, and people just clap on the wrong beats. Big deal. I thought it was pretty amusing. I don't want to be rude or anything, but I thought it was funny.
Master Traveler
Shit yeah~! One of the most interesting things about concerts is the spontaneity (spelling?) of the event. The unpredictability. When shows run too slick its just not as interesting because it doesnt give each gig much of an individual flavour. That moment during Starfuckers will be one of my most endearing concert memories for years to come. I love it when there is a difinitive intereaction between the audience and the band. Without that interaction you may as well be watching it on TV.

Anyone who was at Billy Corgan's show at the Marquee a couple of months ago will understand just how special that audience interaction can be.
Master of the Ninth Arch
p.s. i want to be going to all the current shows :(

its making me sad to see all of the shows appearing on top of this one in the tour journal...!!

i mean, im excited for all the people getting to see them, just wish i was toooooooo!!!

and i notice that TR wore a muscle-t in the latest concert!!they are getting more muscle then we did :/ hehe grrrrrrrr!!

:D
Master of the Ninth Arch
yea I heard about the corgan concert sounded pretty intense... I know what u mean, the interaction is key to a concert. When I think of the concerts I’ve been to the ones that were the best weren't reliant on the quality of the music but how much the musicians interacted with the audience.
Bricklayer
hey i have some videos of the concert from fri and sat that i took on my phone, they are 3gp files does anyone know how i can post them for u all to see.

most are good cause i was on the barrier and some are from backstage.

if anyone could help that would be great

THTF has a fixed rythym all the way through. Hurt and starfuckers have sections where the song allows for Trent to dictate the time freely, to feel it, fluctuate the tempo as he sees fit.

Not saying staged but a manouvre out of a similar situation. Im sure after years of touring Trent would have tricks up his sleeve to ensure everything runs smoothly. Just a thought of a possibility.

You miss understand. Clap if you want. Dont clap out of time like a retard and then blame the performer. The guy i qouted in the first place was saying trent fucked up and thats bs. Regardless it was cool thing to have seen.

I know it's getting on a bit since the gig, but I was wondering whether anyone has any audio/video from the night that they're willing to upload?

I was planning to record the whole thing on my digital camera but the thing fuckt up on me; I'm from Canberra - we're not used to all this fancy new technology.
