I sat the 2nd show font and cetre and moshed hard on the first night...

My Opion... Trent and the band were more into it tonight (see trent at the start)

Aaron is perfect on stage and really suits the band... Jeordie can look a bit odd at times... And fucking jerome dillon can bash sticks better than anyone ive seen

Second show was my fav... Anyone else ?

and it was fucking LOUD

Plus those black hoodies they sell at the mech are GOLD aren't they ?

(PS. I think Fragility 2000 you have been much better in the horden than with teeth. I though the lighting whislt hypnotic was a bit simple

Anyways I destoryed. Thanks to Trent and Nine Inch Nails for 2 awsome nights

I preferred the first show but the crowd seemed to be more into it tonight.

I hope who ever got Trent’s guitar realizes how lucky they are.

I hope the dude who sang piggy with Trent realizes how bad he was.

I'm shattered that it's all over. The three shows went by so quick :( I wish I was going to Brisbane

better than the first night for sure. trent really did seem grateful at the end. he said thank you like 10 times and gave us the peace sign.

saw some hot girls who when asked by the nin crew by the door if they wanted an after show pass said no. i chased them and asked nicely if they could get it for me if they wernt going to have it but she said- 'no i would feel uncomfortable.' i mean what the fuck is that? shittest excuse ever.

got some sick photos (i was the guy in white shirt with the blonde hair who always had his camera out... i spose i was annoying... i dont care)

the guy who got the guitar i saw running from the venue with his girlfriend after the show, guitar in hand, and he headed straight to the carpark.

not much else to say other than did anyone get a shot of the 'NOW PLAYING' board that said Nine Inch Nails with both the dates there... if so i would love to have a copy of it

and someone who is going to brisbane... i really want a sticker pack (to put on my car and other places) so if anyone wants to get me one, PM me and we shall work something out. :)

Another excellent show and the setlist posted above is correct. I chose to sit this one down and really enjoyed being able to see the whole stage and floor section.

I sat down too but couldnt sit still and had to get up ,run into the crowd and jump around like an idiot. :)

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen just got home and the show was much better than last night...it was amazing ( though last night was also amazing..lol)
Trent was more relaxed and seemed to be in a much better mood.

Highlight - No you don't - amazing and i could hear myself singing again so people in the front with me ( you didn't know your The Fragile)

My sister and i were so happy when he did Piggy that i accidentally fell into the boy besides me ( sorry about the nose bleed buddy)

I got some wonderful pictures with my digital camera and also four complete songs ( plus them coming on stage) on moving video - i will post them later and see if i can try and get the video in a better format then the present MPEG.

It was nice to see more over 30's in the audience tonight.

Only real annoying thing was these two girls near me who kept on taking pictures of themselves ( yes themselves and not once tryed to snap a picture of Trent... i mean what the hell was wrong with them?).. but after a few songs the little twits got knocked to the back.

The lighting was awesome again too.
Bricklayer
did someone get trents' guitar????? i saw him take it off and hand it to someone but i thought i was seeing things...
Is it true????
I saw the guy with trents guitar...he and his friends were 'hiding' behind a car in the carpark checking it out..i would be pretty low key about it too, that is quite a prized possession!

Altogether better show than Friday night...Trent was more energetic.

And I think the setlist worked better tonight. The Frail and The Wretched are not good openers (that title belongs to Terrible Lie). Hurt followed by Wish was perfect.

Even deeper was awesome, I wont forget when Trent jumped off stage for this song at BDO 2000, and it was brilliant tonight also. No you dont was a welcome addition, and of course hey pig piggy pig pig pig.

Would have loved to have seen a middle 'themed' section like the fragility tour (la mer, the great below) or tds tours (eraser, hurt, the downward spiral) but i guess it wasnt on the cards for this tour...

Whoa, i honestly think that was the best of all three. The band and the crowd were really into it. Awesome. I really enjoyed the show, maybe because I decided to be wimpy and get a seat. But, i didnt have to fear for my life and just enjoyed the show. My fav moment somehow was MOTP, the energy was just awesome.

The guy that got trent's guitar, i hate you.
i definitely thought the energy from the band was a lot better than the night before. Both gigs were perfection and everything i knew they would be. Thanks for the memmories trent. I beleive at the melbourne gig he told the crowd he would be back within the year is that right? Did he mention this to any people who were lucky enough to chat with him? Id also like to hear more reviews from the Spiral members. Im so regretting not joining up when i first found out about it , but will before he comes down again.
Prince Adept
He said "before this time next year" and said April-ish
Thanks naut , damn i hope so
word from a very reliable resource said it was close to being confirmed that in april/may they will be doing a more thorough tour of Australia

if he comes back again during the WT tour, it will probably be for BDO, he enjoyed himself here last time(so he said at the time)

Yeah, we we're talking about this at the show last night. I agree that it will probably be BDO which is a shame.

Not really - almost all big BDO acts do sideshows.

To me, BDO = more chances to see them.

I just pray that they actually will do sideshows if they do.

I was standing two the girlfriend of the guy who got the guitar. He was a from spiral meet and greet. It actually fell back towards the stage and security said they's give it to him at the end. His girlfriend (tall redhead) got two backstage passes so they probably went to stow the guitar then went back maybe. After the guy who gave her the passes walked away she said 'I got to go last night too, that is so lucky'. I hate her

Met some chick who got to go backstage both nights. She said she was friends with Sully but I walked up to her when she was talking to him and she was in the process of reminding him of her name so I guess she was working him. Anyway she said (and I presume she got her info from Sully) that they would being doing a tour around march/april next year but they couldn't do BDO because they would still be touring elsewhere. But that they wanted to do BDO the following year.

She was very full of herself yesterday.

Anyway, I was standing right in front of Trent (I swear he was looking into my eyes near the beginning, or at least that's the story i'm sticking to. In reality he probably couldn't see a thing with all the lights in his face.) on the barrier, which actually turned out to be not so good cos that's where all the crowd surfers get pulled out so my neck fucking hurts (although better than the kick in the face I got on friday). And I had security belly in my face rather frequently. NOT GOOD.

Otherwise it fucking rocked. Spent a small amount of today crying cos it's all over, but have also been planning for next year. I can't fucking wait.

*insert hysterical laugh here* I dont wanna know how much I spent on this tour. Seeing this might be the one and only chance I have to see them, I kinda splurged. I got the girlie tour shirt, the tour dates shirt, the other tour shirt (the one that just said live wt 2005) and a litho. I did get sticker and badges.. that reminds me

ryan, use the money to send me this tour's bootlegs, mmkay?

Of course, we're not taking about the hotel, the plane tickets, and the $50 i just spent buying some singles.

I'm pretty sure I know who you're talking about, and yes she was both full of herself and working him and also very rude, you don't know the half of it!
Anyway am back home now after three shows and a soundcheck and am absolutley wrecked!

Three shows of Ninny goodness have destroyed me.
It was nice to talk to some of the other j winners. (Hughman, Ryan) if you're here it was nice meeting you and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

The only thing I was able to ask Trent was about BDO 06 and his response was that he didn't really know yet, but got talking to their manager whilst waiting and he mentioned that a BDO was more likely for 2007 and that there should be another album by then.
I'm hoping these rumours of April/May next year are true though! I'd kill to hear Reptile just once more!

Wow, another great night of NIN. I felt that Trent got a lot more emotional on Friday night. I really appreciated that part of it, but Saturday night, he seemed relaxed and enjoying it more. I managed to be two from the front for a few songs, and it was mad to see Trent in flesh, and so close! Even Deeper and No, You Don't were insane, as was everything else. The best two nights of my life!
Prince Adept

I queued up for 6 hours less for this show and still managed to be in the exact same position, so that was fantastic. I spent both nights on the barrier in front of Jeordie and I must say, he was hugely impressive (for me) both nights.

I mentioned to someone before I went in that I would kill to see No You Don't, and I did...I was actually quite surprised.

I do remember Trent mentioning on the website that Aussies would be seeing him more than once on this tour, and I figured they would be back soon. Based on everyone's reaction to this tour I'm expecting some enormous crowds.

This show was as good as the Alternative Nation show back in 95... seriously there was some intense energy going on here. The whole show was way tighter tonight and some of the songs had a slightly different feel to what I saw last night. Terrible Lie for instance was much more ripping- but I thought they did a better job of Burn the night before.

Oh, and to the guy in the earlier post who said he thought the lighting looked 'simple'- Thats because you were in the front row. You have to be a fair way back to get the full benefit of the light show, which by the way was outstanding. I enjoyed tonights show more than last nights even though i was sitting in the seats for this one. NIN up close is a very different show from what you see from the seats, and it was cool to be able to experience it both ways.

Favourite moment: The blood curdling screech that Trent let out coming back into the heavy part of With Teeth after the piano section. Me and my friend Paul just looked at each other and said "YEAH!!!!"

Greetings to all the ets'ers that I met on the day Wretched Piggy, Ryan., Sick Among the Pure, Hughman and the others whose names elude me right now due to my brain being totally Nailed. Hope you like my cool, cool CD!
Master Traveler
wow, this show was even more awesome than melbourne.

currently driving back to adelaide, out near mildura somewhere - on the net via a laptop and a GPRS (mobile phone) connection. not a geek - honestly! :)

awesome meeting people from here, too; i'll remember the soundcheck for the rest of my life, that was such a brilliant experience. we ended up getting a ukulele signed, will post pictures soon when i'm back home!
Master Traveler
oh, and haha - my mate asked trent why they didn't come to adelaide, to which the response was something along the line of "where the fuck is adelaide?"

THE DAY I MET TRENT - DIARY OF A SPIRALLION

Yeah today I got to meet Trent. It was just like all those dreams I had. Trent is my hero, and inspires me to make music and record albums without the requirement of having to put together a pesky band. and apart from that he's just a genius. But you all know this.

I'm meeting some of the ETS crew and having a chat, and they say that I have to meet Sully the tour manager at a gate across the way. I go up and have my name marked off the list. 11 Spiral members are down and we each get to have a guest. The 5 triple J winners are there too. Less than 30 people for this private little party. Nice. Apparently the Spiral members were chosen at random, so I feel like a doubly lucky bastard. My friend Paul, who I took along, is ecstatic because this was my birthday present to him.

Earlier in the day we were talking about what we thought Trent had been doing all day, and Sully is a pretty talkative guy- just having a convo with some of the other guests so I say to him, "This may seem like a dumb question, but what does Trent do all day? "

Sully: "Oh Trents the original tourist- he loves getting out and seeing the sights. He gets up real early and goes and checks the place out, like tomorrow we're going to the zoo." [~and yes after he let that slip I did spend all day today at the zoo, but alas Trent eluded me because I didn't see him~] "Last night after the show Trent went out down the road for a while and came back eating this dirty looking pie that he got from a guy in a truck. he was like "Its good! It's cheap!" Trent doesn't go for the expensive restaurants. The other guys in the band are sitting in the corner of an expensive restaurant and Trent will go out and get one of these pies- he says that when you pay for expensive food you always end up disapointed."

An interesting little article there from Sully and now we cant get the image of Trent walking around Sydney eating a pie out of our heads. I get a photo of the guest list with my name on it, because I'm sure its the only time I'll ever be 'on the list'.

after a while, Sully takes us into the side of stage area and explains "the rules" to us. "The guys are working here- practicing for the show, so don't be yelling out requests at them- don't be that guy". Also the band wants to keep the meet and greet sessions to a more personal experience where you get to talk to them and ask them questions rather than just having a cookie cutter experience of 'sign this, take picture,.. NEXT!' So please respect the band's wishes - No Cameras. (this is a bit disappointing, but, meh).

The band comes on and we are still waiting around outside. They do:

March of the Pigs
No You Don't
(then Trent joins them- the previous two had no vocals)
Piggy
The Collector

Then they stop playing and Sully ushers us inside.

we come around the corner and inside the Hordern all the house lights are on, and onstage is the band- they have a thin haze of smoke and some of the coloured lights are on too- its a really cool way of seeing them because its like NIN 'lite'- it almost feels like they could be in your living room playing just for you- if your loungeroom had a capacity of 8000 of course.

Me and Paul kind of half-run for the barrier and get our position right in front of Trent's mike. I notice the other guys first because they are all in their positions, then I spot Trent lurking at the back talking to one of the tech guys. I give him a wave when he looks around and he nods.

The band plays: (as someone said in an earlier post on this thread)

The Wretched
Even Deeper

Man that was good. A private show just for us. After Even Deeper I yelled out "Go Trent!" and he looked around again.

Next the band are filing along the barrier meeting people and signing their stuff. Me and Paul have each got a copy of the Lithograph that we got at the previous night's show. I was thinking of having my deluxe edition "And All That Could Have Been" signed- but the litho is better because its specific to this line up of the band- and more limited than the CD i dare say. Paul bought a silver pen and we were sharing it with one of the other ETS dudes who had a little black Ukelele to get signed.

Jeordie comes along first "Hi Jeordie" i say... "Hi" when he gets to the guy with the Ukelele he says "wow, thats a little guitar".

Aaron the mad bastard is along next and Paul (who is an arse kicking guitarist in the Death/Grind/Shred styles (lots of intricate solos) says to Aaron "Can you show us the size of your hand?". Aaron is obviously clued on to what Paul is talking about ~guitarist 'en guitarist~ and puts his palm up so that Paul can measure his hand against Aaron's. Paul has got pretty long fingers but Aarons fingers were fully an inch or more longer- he's a mutant. I said "SHit! can I have a go?" and his fingers are like an inch longer than mine too.
Jeordie comes back and says "So what, are we playing patty cake with these guys?"
Aaron says "Yeah I'm just showing them how big my dick is" finishes signing our stuff and off he goes.

Trent is coming from the other side and everythings all converging in the middle- the silver pen is darting from hand to hand and its getting tricky to have everyone sign with the same pen on the lithos. When Jerome (who just says "hello") signs my litho big blobs of silver ink come out and drip onto it. "oohh sorry" he says, "Don't worry about it" I say. Alessandro doesn't say much, just "Hi".

And then zoop!@ and Trent is standing right in front of me I look at himand I must have the biggest smile on my face- I never thought I'd ever meet him. "Hey Trent!" He smiles.

"Trent, I wanted to ask you about the Downward Spiral..." [On a previous thread that I started called "The Decay of the Downward Spiral", linked below, I talked about the increasingly delayed start of the last few tracks on the CD which I thought was a mastering error for about 8 years before I finally tumbled to it that it is supposed to be the very digital fabric of the album disintegrating at the end of the spiral... or that was my theory at least- I always wanted to get this confirmed by Trent]... " (a brief explanation of the above)..Thats it isn't it? Its the album itself breaking down?" Trent: "Yeah that was pretty much the idea".

YES!!!!! I am a happy camper - confirmation from the man himself!

Me:"Awesome, I've been wondering about that for years , oh hey nice choices for the band (refering to the new band members)"
Trent: "Oh, thanks!"
Me: "Trent, can I give you my demo CD?" (and I am fully expecting him to say 'no, I don't accept those' and I wouldn't have been bothered if he had because he must get a million of those things foisted on him all the time)
Trent: (enthusiastically)"Yeah, sure!"
I just have a moment where time stands still and yet spins by twice as fast- I get to share my art with my inspiration. That's cool. Thats very cool. I dig the last copy out of my bag which I have signed especially for him with:

Dear Trent,
Your CD is better than my CD, but my CD has 'Magic Dance' on it!
From Dopefinger.

(its got 4 original songs and a cover of Bowie's 'Magic Dance' from the movie Labyrinth, recorded Trent style with me doing everything myself).

At this point I start gushing on embarrassingly like a giddy fanboy, Trent signs my litho and moves on. The pen leaked all over it when he signed it but it looks cool.

Thats the end of the meet and greet and we are ushered back outside. Sully says that we can come back at ten to seven to the same gate and they will let us in (Spiral Entrance) 20 minutes before everyone else so we can get whatever position we want, take care of the cloak room, merchandise, drinks etc.

I spend the next hour walking around blowing on my lithograph trying to dry the blobs of silver ink which just refuse to dry. Eventually they get enough of a 'skin' on them to roll it back up just as we go in at 10 to 7. Thankfully the blobs didn't smear all over the surface.

Seeing as we watched last nights show from up close, tonight we are going to watch it from the seats- I pick the center of the front row of the back stand, seat number '99' for Nine Inch Nails.

man what a show.

Interestingly enough (or so i thought) the Spiral members at the meet and greet were all older fans,.. and no goths.

Great post! Thanks for putting this up. Its always interesting to hear about peoples meet and greet experiences.
ps : you gave me a copy of your cd but Im yet to listen to it :)
Master of the Ninth Arch
that was a great post re meeting the guys at soundcheck - my experience was similar, mind you all I could say to trent was to thank him for letting us come meet them - he seemed pretty happy to hear that...

As i was at fridays show, not sat's - when we were first ushered into the horder, we got halfway in and then were told to go out again....then were told to go in again....and when i spoke to trent he said "i dont know what happened there" so i kinda giggled (girlishly lameo!) and said "yea, i thought you didn want to meet me, i felt a bit rejected" and he grinned this cheeky grin and just said "i felt rejected too!!" :)

he is so totally what i had hoped for - a normal guy who had gone through some amazing pain and come out the other end. he was just pleased to be normal and with us and seeing what the fans looked like. amazing...

Also - Jerome (who's haircut i just LOVE) told us his fave song to play is Terrible Lie :)
Master of the Ninth Arch
Oh, and to the guy in the earlier post who said he thought the lighting looked 'simple'- Thats because you were in the front row. You have to be a fair way back to get the full benefit of the light show, which by the way was outstanding
I was up front for first show an dead centre on the seats up the back for the second show... I had an awesome view both nights.. The lights we great but a bit simple compaired to the Fragility tour...

Anyways, Here are my pics from Saturday night

My friend Emma and I have lots of photos from both Sydney shows. We are just waiting to upload them all and I'll post when we do.

Dopefinger, I heard Sully talking about that so I must have been right near you! I was hanging around with Emma who was going into the meet and greet that night!

I am so regretting not joining the Spiral - see, I was planning to, but never got around to it because I thought 'Nahhh, they won't do anything special on the australian tour... its only for the american tour...' - yes, confirmation that i am a fucking stupid little bitch.

Loooved it. One thing that really fucked me off though was the people in the fucking line. See, i lined up pretty early and there were only about 10-15 people there - but what do you know, an hour before the doors open, these fuckers invite in a gang of their friends, all clad in Murderdolls tshirts and more eyeliner than Aaron North. The only reason i didn't heave my squished apple and a few stale pretzels at one or two of those pug-faced fuckers was because there were so many of them and they could have quite cleanly kicked my ass. especially that hairy hispanic-looking guy with the rancid tshirt. lol.
Oh, and that chick who would not shut up about getting to meet the band [last night]. Seriously, just on and on and on... and on... her entering statement to the waiting-line was something along the lines of jeordie's penis,(JEORDIE'S A SLUT! ah, flashback humour) come off it man, meeting them should have been a joyous personal occasion, one to treasure forever, not just something to get street cred when you brag about it the next day to strangers. :x

My god, reptile again, i almost died of happiness... was second to the front because of those fuckers who cut in line. but it was great, i'm kinda glad i wasnt on the barrier, moving around was fun, and i had padding of people in front of me. haha.
Master Traveler
My understanding was that they chose people at random on their fan club... but either way i think its nice that some fans got to meet him, but i still prefer not to meet him in a environment like that. What if he was in a bad mood? - would totally ruin their music for me.
I am happy to just see them play live, which i have seen them do a few times.

Is anything else sick this Monday? my throat was hurting like hell yesterday, and feels worse today. My ears too. Im either feeling my age or thanks to the pitt got someone else's cold.
Master Traveler
don't worry man, i got a fucked throat too. all part of the nin experience.

I had a fear that something like this would happen to me at the meet and greet. I kept trying to tell myself not to get my hopes up... But they invited us to be there and were all really great guys & took the time to make each of us there feel welcome. Probably the least so was Jeordie who didn't seem interested & left as quick as he could...
Trent, Jerome, Aaron & Alessandro all hugely surpassed my expectations.... Now my fear is that I won't get an opportunity like that again...
Bricklayer
Hahaha join the club. I have a hard core flu now, and have to sit my finals tomorrow and Wednesday. It was all worth it for NIN though!

My mate took about 100 photos on the Saturday night concert, which are all insane. As soon as he gives them to me I'll give ya's a link to them.

Argh...my head is still occupied with thoughts of the show. Wish I was back there! When they come back, I'm gonna try make it to all the Aussie shows. Hope to see you all there again!

My throat is cactus from singing out the words!

Props go to the photo guy on Eddy Ave (Syd) who developed these. I got all my photos put on CD and developed so that I wouldn't have to scan them, but when I got home, I realised the source photos on the CD were really, really fucked up (lighting wise, etc)... so the photo guy must've had some funky lab skills to develop them so well. I ended up scanning the ones he developed and posting those.

Greetings to all the ets'ers that I met on the day Wretched Piggy, Ryan., Sick Among the Pure, Hughman and the others whose names elude me right now due to my brain being totally Nailed. Hope you like my cool, cool CD!
Yes, i too found it very cool to have experience NIN from different angles and areas.

Thanks for the CD, i really liked the personal message you put in there for me. i've only listened to it once and i want to listen to it a few more times before i give you any feedback because i find that it's hard to judge something on only one listen (unless you're judging it on how it would go on the radio). "Magic Dance" is awesome. i hope Mr Trent Reznor likes it. Hazzah for The Red Fizz!

Did anyone else see and find amusing the police billboard near Aussie Stadium that said "Drive Hammered... Get Nailed"? i wish i could've taken a photo of it and cropped it down to the "...get Nailed" part.

i am destroyed. Yes, that was the best NIN show out of the three i went to on this tour and better than the Sydney Big Day Out in 2000. Fucking amazing.

And i have to say that hanging out with the ETS crew in the line-up during the day was pretty much equally awesome as the concert itself, which is really saying something. Thank you.
Dopefinger i have to say thankyou very much for the write up of the meet & greet. I was another one of the people under the impression us aussies would miss out on much of the benifits of being spiral members but its definitely got me now.

Ryan thankyou also for all the movies youve been mosting , i love anything nails i can get my hand on and im sure many others here feel the same

samiam im ok but my manager was off today with the flu and he was at both concerts with me.

I think if anything i feel so much better today , 2 nights of nails really was more releiving tham any amount of warm fluid i could discharge.

Heheh... at ten to 11, after the show finished I was walking out the doors back into the foyer of the hall like everyone else and there was this doughy looking dude standing there eating a hotdog.

He had an incredulous look on his face and was saying "What are you doing? the shows not over- they play for two hours! get back in there!"

I said, "The shows over- they just played Head Like A Hole".

His jaw dropped - mouth full of half chewed hotdog - and he emitted a noise that kind of sounded like "muurhh?!??!?"

Poor dude.

Heheh, [for those who weren't there in the ETS section of the line-up] the tiny teddies are supposed to represent each of the band members of Nine Inch Nails. There's 6 different personalities of Tiny Teddies, so we matched them up with which one fitted which band member. For example "hungry" (the buff one with his hand near his mouth) is Trent Reznor. In the photo Ryan. posted, they're in a different order than the photo Dopefinger took, which's L-R of how they appeared on stage. Whereas the in the one Ryan. took, they're in the order of the poster/picture that came with one of the versions of The_Hand_That_Feeds.

i was thinking that too. Not necessarily as punishment, but perhaps because they didn't want the same thing to happen again.

Actually, they didn't play "Starfuckers, inc." at Las Vegas or Coachella this year either. (Which i would've thought would be the most appropriate places to perform them, especially considering there were lots of celebrities upstairs at the Las Vegas gig apparently. Maybe some of them were his friends and he didn't want to offend them or something.)

Yeha I've never been much of a starfuckers fan. Trent must like it though and feel that we would be deprived without hearing it.

Songs I would love to hear in the set again are Hapiness in Slavery, Somewhat Damaged, and The Becoming. You know what else would be brilliant? Eraser! and if you read the posts from the ppl at the Brisbane m+g you may see some brilliant news on that front!

Wow if the crowd in line was better in this show, i'd hate to think about the crowd for the first one... (apart from you poncho people and a couple of others - haha, i'm very angsty about half the people there)

The absense of starfuckers was fine with me, too. I'd gladly trade it in for 'Love is not enough'. It would have been cool to scream along with "AND WHEN I SUCK YOU OFF NOT A DROP WILL GO TO WASTE", but hey... did that the first night in the seats...

I was next to this chick who apparently got Trent's microphone in the front. (she was one of the chicks in the early line under the cardboard box shack, in the slipknot tshirt) Do you think she got to keep it? Apparently it went into the depths of her cleavage never to be seen again, but I'm not an eyewitness... i hope she knows how lucky she is if she did get it... what a souvineir!

Ooooh were you the chick in the creamy coloured top with the dreads? If you are, I remember you! I think you may be in the background of a few photos too. :P

The people near me in the Melbourne line were cool, but Jesus Christ I was ready to strangle some of the people in the first Sydney line. This one girl would not stop loudly bragging about everything. And the group of people she was with let about 10 or 15 people in. The second Sydney line was good fun.
I remember you too becomeImpossible and the slipknot shirt chick.

I was on the barrier in front of Aaron with the_wretched_piggy and keychains for this show, pretty much the same spot as I was in Melbourne only it was a much tighter squeeze this time around. While The Follow were playing we had a bit of a fangirl moment when we spotted Aaron, then Trent off to the side of the stage, clapping at the end of every song, before he disappeared near the end of their set.

The setlist totally floored me, I wasn't expecting anything too different from the night before, Even Deeper was awesome, and fuck you to the people who started singing The Perfect Drug during The Frail and before the show. Loved that they didn't do Starfuckers, there's too many staples in the setlist now sez I!

This was my favourite of the 3 shows I went too, so much energy, but the crowd felt a bit more agressive than Melbourne.
I didn't get to say goodbye to everyone properly, so goodbye and thankyou too all the ETSers I met along the way, particularly Ryan, Margot and Ben, not that it matters much now anyway, since we're all safe at home on ETS now! (will edit with more ramblings later)

haha, *that's* where the exclusive tent was? somebody mentioned it, i was looking for an actual tent.

that's funny as hell!
first of all hi to the chick from new zealand that rememebed me,and all the others that stuck at the front the whole time. i was the guy that trent handed the guitar to. the show was incredible, even better than friday nite. . however this was lightened at the end by the fact that someone stole the guitar that i was handed while security moved away. when the lights went on someone tried to grab it and the security told them it was for me, without noticing a cople of minutes later some fucker took it. the fact that it was handed to me means more than actually having the guitar.and it is disheartening to think someone loves a band that intensly then goes and steals thier gear. but yeah fuck i had a top night and cant wait to march when they should be back, straight from trents and sullys mouth.

i prob sound like a self centered little cunt but fuck it just had to voice my opinion cause i was a bit cut

cheers
Master Traveler
jesus christ dude, that fucking sucks. whoever stole it doesn't deserve shit.

you don't sound self centered at all.
Master of the Ninth Arch
From my view, TR didn't actually GIVE it (his guitar) to anybody, just tossed it in our general direction & about 8 people got a hand on it (including me), hence security putting it down to avoid a full brawl. The mike tech took the guitar to the far right of stage after the house lights came on & gave it to a guy from backstage the night before. Ergo it wasn't stolen as such but just given to someone else. Sucks but that's life.

yeah, they were all so nice. i'm still in awe how much trent still gives a shit about everything, and how down to earth he appears to be despite this; after doing it this long, many others in his position would have lost their passion. i have so much more respect for him now as a person (i did before, anyway).
Master of the Ninth Arch
ditto on tha adelaide without teeth :) i agree totally. just the way trent looked at everyone when he met them - was like total respect for us as admirers, not egotistical at all. His calm, made me calm..im more worked up now after meeting them, than i actually was when i met him. didnt ask any earth shattering questions, just happy to get a smile outts him.

Good on them for being so good to us!!!
Bricklayer
you guys r right he did throw it in the general direction, however afterwards someone on stage told the security gaurds in front of it to give it to me, when one other gaurd went to get it he was told to back off as it was for me, this was the first time i realised it was goin to me. but like i said seein them live and all that shit, even more so the fact that he had a general appricaition for his fans hands down makes the bigger difference to my admiration for him and the band. could not say anything more bout him and other staff that helped in the hunt
were there any bootlegs of this show? i'd kill for one...

Sure is, I have both nights. I just finished mastering them both today. Their on CD (Digital transfer to Pro Tools via SPDIF from DAT). I'm still looking for these 2 CDs: Too Dark Park and Remission by Skinny Puppy. PM me if interested.

Hey rotton,
Talked to Alyssa after the concert and she said she was waiting for you since you were getting the guitar. I should also apologise for sneaking in fron of your GF at the start but I waited in line 8hrs both days so was getting a little mercenary by that stage.

That pic that someone (ryan? i think) posted from the Friday morning. Oh god. I recognise the girl with red/black hair. Her laugh. It was painful. Funny for the first 3 hrs but after that...

Anyway, I was in your line on friday and arrived about 11-1130.

Didn't meet anyone from ETS but now you're all sharing your stories I guess I must have been pretty close to a few of you. I remember on Saturday the girls under the cardboard shack. You gave me your spare box at the first sign of rain. Thanks for that. I was the blonde wearing a black singlet and jeans. Oh and if you read the Tour Journal from the 19th you'll see that the girl who had the pic of marilyn manson holding Jeordie's dick on her cell phone has joined ETS.

Anyway, maybe I'll meet you all next year too. I am already planning for the entire Australia/NZ tour.

Hmm...I think that might be dodgy, because it says that it was signed AFTER the shows, yet trent never went to any of the after show gatherings!
Master of the Ninth Arch
good point keychains!

the sigs really do look diff too - especially trent's, i know from all my CSI watching that there are letts written totally different on that ebay site!

mind you, you couldnt tell if you didnt have something original to comnpare it too....
Master of the Ninth Arch
I dont know, I got my litho and wt cd signed by the whole band and they got different sigs. Especially jeordie..

edit: although that might have sthg to do with him trying to sign as big as possible.

i guess so - my TR sigs match your ones, but my jeordie one looks diff to yours even though he did sign smaller for me that you ;) tehehe

wow, they seem to differ a fair bit....
i guess that jeordie may have written one as a 'signature' and on the other merely wrote his name (anyway, on the litho he has a whole lot more room to do so)

i dunno, its a conspiracy i tell you!

But i can't. because I don't have the scanning/digital camera facility at the moment. Thought i'd post anyway, mainly to be a total dirty hypocrite (see earlier posts...) and show off a little, not that mine compares to the fucken ukelele or the lithos... oh, the absense of a Trent and Aaron signature...
I kinda regret not asking Aaron for one, but I guess I retained a little dignity not getting all fangirl on him.

PS: Thanks to those who posted up the Starfuckers, Inc. fuckup mp3 and video AND the Big Come Down... i'll be listening the fuck out of those.

and also: karlsomething is there anything other than Skinny Puppy you can trade the bootlegs for? Cos i'm in nz too and if you can't get them here... i'd like to get my hands on those bootlegs...
What a great weekend. Saw the boys on both nights, and hate to say it but Saturdat night was by far the best. I travelled all the wy from Perth, WA. and loved Sydney.
Seen them in Brixton Accedemy in 1999, and really felt this gig was on par, even with the new members.

Yeah that was me. How did you get stuff signed? Did you go to the after party or were you spiral on the 1st night. It just that I assumed that they wouldn't contact NZ'ers for the Spiral M & G.

It's probably for the best that I didn't get to meet them cos I would have ended up just standing there slack jawed with drool sliding down my chin. As it is I wake up and the first thing I think of is NIN so any more obsessed and I would be incapacitated

Awesome. Thank you Elissa.

...and before the band started playing, the intro was "Beside You in Time" (instrumental snippet version) over the PA.

Regardless of whether or not it's been posted already, your setlist is bound to be more accurate since it's from the actual setlist sheet of paper.

i'm surprised how fast the concert seemed to go, it felt shorter than the previous two nights but i don't think it actually was.

Such a damn fine choice of songs.
Does anyone know what the music playin just before the nails came on stage, it was weird but at the same time great, if someone could tell me it would be greatly appreciated
Master of the Ninth Arch
Hey pigs wrote:Does anyone know what the music playin just before the nails came on stage, it was weird but at the same time great, if someone could tell me it would be greatly appreciated
Like the poster directly above you stated, it's Beside You in time. But before that.. it might be Swans - Like a Drug, but I'm not sure..
Actually it was both. Swans "Like a Drug" with the drone from "Beside You in Time" mixed in all the way through it until finally the houseights dimmed, Swans faded out and the drone went choppy like on the record. The tremelo slowed down until NIN went onstage.
Master of the Ninth Arch
So, you could say the two songs were "bleeding through" into eachother?

"bleed-through" is an actual term that studio musicians and audio engingeers use (i only found that out from studying music at college last year and sound recording was one of the modules). Usually used to name sounds from one instrument being heard through the mic' being used for another instrument.
Master of the Ninth Arch
By the way, i created a thread in The (stupid) Musical Revolution forum that can be used to discuss Dopefinger's EP, The Red Fizz. So if anyone's interested in writing about it, whether it be asking questions or giving feedback, you should probably do so over in:
http://www.echoingthesound.org/phpbbx/v ... hp?t=13337
...as the CD itself has very little to do with this thread and i thought it deserved its own.
Check it out, especially if you're one of the lucky (chosen?) ones who actually have a copy.
Master Traveler
yo, i never got a copy of the EP - was next to dopefinger (@ the meet/greet in syd), he said he didn't have any copies left (but then gave one to trent - liar!!!) :-)

Like a Drug (Sha La La) by Swans(http://www.swans.pair.com) was the last song that was cut of by Right Beside You.... Their music ranged from low tech industrial dirges to ethereal type soundscapes in their later stuff. Well worth your time.

There's a mailing list/forum type thing for Skinny Puppy which might be of interest to those people who wanted to trade stuff for SP stuff. For more information, PM me. i'm guessing most Skinny Puppy fans already know about it though (it's called "Epilogue)).

speaking of where that off-topic came from... how are the bootlegs going?
