The AIM chatroom is abuzz again with early news from this show.
Tonight we have the lovely NINja(e) at the show, who's been wonderful enough to call and e-mail us and relay some details, as well as send pics taken with her camera phone.
I'll continue to edit this post as the night goes on to add any new information and pictures that we receive.

4:50 MST - Phone call. She's arrived at the Spiral entrance. There are about 40 others waiting at this time.

4:57 MST - Pic taken outside the venue.

6:38 MST - The lights.

6:56 MST - Looks like Autolux has taken the stage.

7:41 MST - QOTSA

8:07 MST - Two 6 second video clips of QOTSA

9:25 MST - NIN are on stage and the Frail is being played.

9:30 MST - 8 second video clip of NIN has been added here.

10:21 MST - 16 second video clip of Hurt

1:38 MST - 13 second NIN clip has been added here.

Thanks again to NINja(e) for all of these updates, pics, and video clips.

I cannot tell you how awesome the combo of Eraser, RWIB, and BYIT is.

What a phenominal show. Jerome looked back into great form. Trent looks great with the buzz cut. Only kicks ass live. So does Deep. Deep was really good. I loved it. I'm really drunk. What a show. I saw them 6 times in the spring, but this might have taken all of them. Fun, fun times.

I've got school at 7am. Need to crash.

There is a really cool white T-shirt. I didn't get it, but plan on later in the tour. I got a sweet litho though. The Spiral entrance let us in 30 minutes early or so. Well worth it.

"Not So Pretty Now" is fucking cool too. I hope someone taped the show.

There was some cool videos that had some anti-bush administration images, and even an image of bush during Right Where it Belongs. At the sight of Bush the crowd went into applause. Phoenix is a pretty conservative area so people were probabily cheering to show their support unfortunately.

It was nice to hear eraser, Right Where It Belongs, Beside You In Time, Only, Deep, and Down In It. Not So Pretty Now sounds cool, but I wish I had already known the lyrics. Also if I am not mistaken, Trent kept checking on Jerome frequetly throughout the set.

At one point trent paused and said something allong the lines of "This should have been our third show, but if ended up being our first."

Great show, nice to see NIN in a large arena again!!!1!

Please tell me that this show was recorded.

I've seen NIN all three times in AZ this year, and this was easily the best (which I never thought I'd say about an arena show). Tons of energy, very tight, lots of first time songs (and yes, Down In It is performed with vocals). Not So Pretty Now is awesome, as were the live performances of Right Where It Belongs, Deep, and Beside You In Time has one of the coolest visual I've ever seen at a show. I refuse to spoil it. I could go on and on about how awesome this show was, but I'll let some other people chime in.

Highlights of the concert included:
Autolux was quite good, definatly worth find out more about them. The girl drummer was awesome, so much so, I thought it was a guy in a dress. But then he sang and it sounded like a girl!
Queens had a great reception. Josh was hilarious. The set was not too long.
NIN was absolutely perfect. The Movie section of the concert starts at eraser and goes through beside you in time. You have got to see it, its much better than the fragility 2.0 movie section. The new song is ok, I'm sure after a few listens it will grow on you. Deep and only went over very well. Except for the guy who was doing a skip-to-my-loo around the back of the crowd stepping on peoples toes. It could have been a perfect concert if they would have played ringfinger after down in it and replaced starsuckers with happiness in slavery.

wow, incredible! this show was fucking awesome!
only was badass live, so was RWIB, and BYIT.
oh yeah, and DEEP! - how cool was that?!
eraser was great too, the images shown were awesome.
great great great show!

the show kicked ass. Autolux and Queens were awesome.I now have new respect for "deep" that song was great.

ELVIS LIVES! Josh Homme is Elvis reincarnate! More news later....

I went to the club show and now this one, and I must agree, this show was better! The visuals were tight, they didn't detract from the show or make it impossible to see the band. Trent was insane, all over the stage, and extremely energetic. Jerome was pounding that drum kit into submission, and yes, Trent checked on him repeatedly. Trent said "This wasn't supposed to be the first show on the tour, but...this is the first show. Thanks for being here." I loved the new song "Not so Pretty Now", but I wished Trent had played "Non-Entity." I was surprised that Trent played "Down In It" after all the crap he took in interviews about not playing it during the last tour, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

QOTSA were phenominal, and Josh was really funny. Seriously though, he is channeling Elvis in a big way. That was main topic of conversation during the QOTSA set.

This was my brother's first time seeing NIN, and he was very impressed and surprised that Trent could still kick ass at 40. You bet your ass he can!

We were very close to the front (enough to get thoroughly soaked by Aaron when he threw his water bottle--I was thankful, actually) and the
Bricklayer
sorry for the previously incomplete message...

Was about to say that the mosh pit wasn't too out of control (everybody was being pretty cool,) but I did get seriously tromped on by some asshole that later got knocked out cold when he fell. Oops.

And again, Aaron, thanks for the bath. Needed it. Hot as hell in the pit.

p.s. when I said that Trent took shit about not playing "Down In It", I mean that several people actually asked him not to play it, saying it was 'not relevant.' Hmmmmmm...
Bricklayer
Terrific show; everyone played great. I liked Autolux thought they were interesting and cool. Queens was a good show and wasn't too long. While they were playing Trent watched for a while off to the right. He was laughing in the talking about drugs part. Steve and I were 2nd line on the far right. If possible, the band was even better than in May. I loved that they played so much new stuff. Deep sounded great, really nothing sucked. I agree the video parts were better than fragile tour. Maybe they will post it :)on the site after the tour so we can all see it. I was cheering because I hate Bush and I didn't vote for the little peckerhead so it wasn't me cheering for the devilspawn. Great show.
Great show. My third time seeing NIN in Phoenix this year. Looking forward to the St. Louis show coming up that I am going to as well. Loved Deep and Down In It. Was a little disappointed in the lack of crowd tonight, but still a good turnout and good energy. Spiral entrance was nice, but I got there late so it didn't have too big of an impact on me. Looking forward to St. Louis.
Bricklayer
Oh yeah, Trent was about as chatty cathy as I've ever seen him. Probably just relieved to get the tour started and Jerome okay. Lots of thank you's. Josh though a wild man, shaking and working that ass. It was good; I watched; I enjoyed.
Damn this show was amazing!!
Bricklayer
The stage was an improved version of the set from the club tour. The light bars in the back are still there, along with the cone lights on the sides. They added what looked like static bar screens, but turned out to be LCD panels. These were placed vertically in patterns across the stage, check out the pictures for a better idea.

Not So Pretty Now will need some more listens before I can make an opinion. It started out with spoken word ala Only, but then turned into a more standard rock song. Will have to actually hear the lyrics and it in better quality before judging it. It sounded like a cross between Only and Getting Smaller. Alessandro played the tambourine.

The image screen was spectacular, with some very moving images of war, genocide, death, monkeys, suburbanites and ballroom dancing during Eraser and RWIB. For BYIT, they ditched pictures of humans in exchange for computer generated textures. It was still great, especially at the end. The screen textures were moving down, while the LCD panels, which were displaying the same images, moved up in contrast. Hard to explain, but I'll try harder when I'm rested.

It wasn't a capacity crowd, actually there was quite a lot of room to move around in the GA area. I was probably 30 feet from the stage, and it was a little crowded further in, but it was nothing compared to Coachella or either the Marquee shows.
Master Traveler
The concert was great. I didn't know about the stuff with Jerome so I was confused when Trent said it was their opening show. I was surprised when Deep was played, sounds alot better live. Didn't like this show as much as I liked The Fragility Tour. The stage seemed kind of naked w/o the screens. They played for an hour and a half which made it worth the money.

I totally missed the two opening acts.
This show was so great. I think everyone in the spiral line was a premium member. The tickets were green faded into black with NIN in reflective silver. We were able to bring in a disposable camera. We went in about 20 minutes before the public and we took our spots FRONT ROW CENTER, well exactly one person back from the barricade. Auto Lux was really good. The crowd started getting a little rowdy during QotSA. This guy about three people over was flipping them off and sceaming Nine Inch Nails!!!! Then the lead stops has the light put on the crowd and has this conversation...something like "see this guy down here is using both hands to flip me off. If he puts them together, that's how long his penis is. No man, don't try to defend your small dick. I'd call your mother a whore, but I never paid her." So this pretty much shut the guy up. Then later during a really mellow part in a song, Josh stopped singing and said "hey man, sorry about all that." It was funny. I was absolutely crushed when NIN came on. It partly sucked because I spent the first few songs in self defense mode(I am 5'4"), and I almost wanted to be pulled over the barricade, but I was right there. I could see every drop of sweat flying off Trent. I drank from a water bottle that went from Trent to the tallest guy in the front row next to me, to his wife to me to the interim new Spiral fan club co-ordinator who was right in front of me. Repulsive and perhaps one of the best moments of the night. Trent just rocked, but Jerome looked AWESOME. There was a fan blowing up on him and it was sereal the way his hairwas standing straight up as he was pounding the hell out of those drums. The new song Not So Pretty Now was cool. To see his eyes as he was singing about himself... And Deep is awesome, WHEN YOU'RE RIGHT THERE! There is no way We would have been up front that close without the Spiral, so $60 well spent. If you've nevr been right up front, just be ready for non stop crush. It was so tight I literally could not put my arm down to check my pocket to make sure I hadn't lost my i.d. and it stayed like that the entire show. We couldn't make out the images due to our position, but we did watch under the curtain and they play just as hard with it up or down. The Lithos for Phoenix sold out, there were no Tucson ones, so I guess they won't ever be sold. In fact they sold out of almost everything.
Bricklayer
aweseome and inspiring.

worth the wait. too bad I couldn't have seen them twice (i had tickets for the tucson show)

energy was high level and the pit was hot as hell.

not so pretty now rocked, was cool to be one of the first few peeps to hear it live.

silk screen video was amazing as well.. the monkey getting the.... killer ending.

i'll leave the floor for others, all I can say is that you will not be dissapointed if you catch a show on this tour.

amazing.
Missed all of Audiolux, but heard them playing Sugarless while me and the wife were getting through security. That was dissapointing, as I really wanted to see them play (big Failure fan), but QOTSA and Nails really made it a more than worthwile show.

Queens of The Stone Age:
Freakin' great set. Would've loved it to be a little longer, but Josh was hilarious - cracking jokes about some guy (and his mom)in the front who was apparently being a jackass. "Feel Good Hit of the Summer" fucking rocked.

NIN:
Everything was great, but I was initially dissapointed at the lack of those giant awesome LCDs from the fragility tour . . . until I realized the backdrop was a huge-ass rear-projection screen and the 15-20 black rectangle thingies were freakin plasma screens. The way they rearranged Closer was great. Then . . .

OMFG - Eraser - RWIB -BYIT. The screens came back down and what must have been "God's own projector" came to life. That was the single most impressive display of visual effect technology at any event I have ever attended. The images shown during Eraser were standard NIN fare, but the RWIB stuff was insane - a soldier holding a gun to a womans head, war, oblivious happy families, bush ballroom dancing... I don't have the ability to even come close to describing the effect that had on me, but the reaction of the crowd was amazing. Almost dead silence with few exceptions (wtf - cheering for Bush and a soldier with a flamethrower?). I've got to hand it to the visuals guy, he is the fucking MAN. And the particle/snowflake effect at the climax of BYIT was unbelievable - you have to see it, it was amazing. Not So Pretty Now was a suprise, for me at least, but it was a great song. I've always liked Deep, but it was SO much better live.

All the tour merchandise was sold out (except a couple tees and a sticker or two) when we checked after the show, but I wasn't planning on buying anything anyway, so no big deal.

That said, I was supprised at the relatively small turnout. We were on the second level ('bout 20 feet from the floor) to the left facing the stage - great seats - but we had almost a whole row to ourselves. I mean, shit people, how the hell could you miss this?
Bricklayer
First ones there, Last ones to leave 9AM-1something AM.......
AMAZING show, met some killer people in the spiral line, saw some old friends...Was on rail right in front of Aaron (that fuckin badass)

Autolux kicked ass, great set...im in love with the drummer she can kick ass...loved her Rockjazz-style drumming......Talk to all of em afterwards, Great friendly people....

QotSA great set, really wish they would have played more songs from Rated-R but they played some newer songs and it was great....Some fuckin prick like 2 ppl over from me kept flippin Josh off the whole time and josh just turned it around on him and ripped on him, an arena laughin at some dumbass was fun :D (that same fucker, later got kicked out arounf NINs 6th song for starting fights, thank god) Troy was a badass like he always is......just wish they'd have play like 2-3 more songs

NIN FUCKING AMAZING, i could not have picked a better song selection....DEEP, Eraser, Down In It were my personal highlights
LOVED the screen and video durring Eraser but i was too close to really get to see it in its full glory, I HOPE SOMEONE VIDEO TAPED the show and will post freely on here, something everyone should see.......NIN had insane energy and trent seemed more emotion durring the songs then he had the other times ive seen them.........They were at 100% the whole show.........The only thing I thought wasnt 100% was SIN, I thought it was played alot better at Marquee but it was still stunning...........

Brandy and all the other ppl that ran the spiral did a great job, had everyone organized, lined up, checked and scanned in a very timely fashion, GREAT JOB.................

NIN left afterwards pretty fast, Autolux just walked away down the street and noone seemed to notice, as far as i saw only my friend and i ever said much to them...........Queens didnt come out either, except TROY who was a killerbadass and came out, talked to us all, signed my show poster (not litho), and my ticket AND took a few pixures with some of us.......

an overall great show
Master of the Ninth Arch
Awesome show. Surprisingly upped it one from the Marquee shows in May. This may have been the best performance I've seen.

Deep and Down in it are badass live. I'm glad they did those. I'll look forward to seeing them elsewhere
Bricklayer
P.S.

Right Where It Belongs was Version 2, imprt version, not the album version
Bricklayer
Amazing show, beautiful in many ways. Played an awesome set. Only thing I could of asked for was more Autolux or QOTSA. The show got out relatively early. Not even half the seat were filled when QOTSA started. The wait practically time was nothing between sets. :) Like I_Dare said, we were there since 9am-1am. Got lithographs, special tickets, & one Troy Van Leeuwen's autograph & soon sent picture. Since Tucson was cancelled, it really turned out to be a once in a lifetime experience. I found the regular seat ticket on the ground, so I have both kinds of tickets now.

ps PhoenixAmazon-You kick most ass!

Glad to hear the dickwad got thrown out finally...I had the misfortune of being right next to him. I think his girlfriend was standing infront of him, pressed against the barricade. At one point he was saying something about jumping over and she was begging him to "please, don't". I really wish the security guards would have gotten rid of him right away.

Other than that the show was amazing! Autolux was great, wish they would have played a little longer (especially since they started early and there were hardly any people in the arena.) QOTSA rocked and I'm glad Josh was able to put the stupid prick next to me back in place. Great set and it was funny listening to Josh cut the asshole back down.

Managed to stay in the 2nd row until about 5 songs in to the set...I might have a few decent pix from the disposable camera...couldn't call into chat as I was unable to get my phone back out of my pocket. I've got a bunch of 10 second video clips...probably crappy but it's better than nothing. I'll work on getting them posted somewhere though I did sent a few to Veralynn if she wants to stick them anywhere on my behalf. Deep was surprisingly good (will admit to liking it regardless of what Meathead thinks.) and Only was great live.
well all i know is that the show fucking kisked ass, we were going wild and crazy dancing and singing and dancing and yelling. There were entire rows in our section that never stood up once!! i spent half the night yelling at them and calling them fuckers. fuck them. God Only was so amazing, Eraser was phenomenal and i even got into Deep which i never thought i would. As for the anti bush message, yeh this shit hole town is pretty conservative but the cheer for bush was actually pretty derisive, and judging from the "fuck Bush" comments in out section im pretty sure not every one was showing support. We even yelled at some stupid republicans at IHOP afterward who were lamenting the anti bush sentiment, telling them to listen to the damn album!
Master ad Vitam
Fuck! That show is what all the little concerts want to be when they grow up!
Autolux was great. I can't believe how talented the drummer was. The way she held the sticks was awesome. Maybe it was just me, but QOTS wasn't as good as they have been in the past. Although as an earlier post mentioned, Homme did a very entertaining little dance with his hips.
This was my first time seeing NIN live, and I can't imagine it being any better. Every song off the new album sounded 100x better live. OMFG Eraser, RWIB, BYIT were intense. That video sequence kicked Fragility's ass! The only thing throwing it off for me were the assholes two rows below me who were clapping totally off the beat to RWIB. I still can't believe that I actually enjoyed hearing Deep live. It didn't suck, imagine that. Some of the other posters mentioned people yelling in support of Bush when they played his face up on the screen, but in my section the booing drowned out the music.
After that I think I will have to see another show this tour. Road trip to Texas!
Third time i've seen Nine Inch Nails, and perhaps the best. Absolutely amazing show. Very powerful and involved performance. This has been one of my favorite bands since The Downward Spiral came out, and last night was a great release for someone for whom Trent's creations have had a great influence for over a decade. Many thanks, Trent et. al.

And cheers for some of my fellow Arizonians for not being so blind as to follow anything Trent has to say about politics or anything else. He's one of the great musical innovators of our time, his aural and lyrical content is some of the most emotionally engaging, but for fuck's sake, it's called "think for yourself" for a reason. I'm not a fan of Bush (i'm a libertarian more than anything else), there are rightful criticisms of the administration, but i lament Trent's jumping on the very marketable yet inescapably inane bash-bangwagon. I truly believe he's smarter than this. And being in the company of Green Day doesn't help. So yes, thank you to fellow "Red-Staters" for not going along with everything that Trent or anybody else has to say. The dangers of conformity apply to all realms of society.

I'm sure plenty of people on this forum will have issue with that, but oh well. I'm sure much of it will prove my point.

Not to "take issue" with your post in an angry fashion, but perhaps Trent really believes what he says about Bush and is not simply jumping on the bandwagon.
brightshadow3960 wrote: Not to "take issue" with your post in an angry fashion, but perhaps Trent really believes what he says about Bush and is not simply jumping on the bandwagon.
I appreciate the sentiment, and you may very well be right, but it something just doesn't seem right to me. Trent was explicit in his decision not to pick political sides back in the 90's, but when all of these bands came out ranting and making a buck because of it, all of the sudden everyone wants to join in. Perhaps Trent figures that it's now a "safe time" to be rebellious against political figures/ideologies.

But hey, if any rockstar wants to make a political statement, good for them. I'm just saying that that some NIN fans, including some at the show last night, find the anti-Bush expressions a bit tawdry. And i don't think being a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Independant or anything else can make someone's appreciation of the music any less valid. I just saw some "screw those conservative Arizonians for cheering/not booing Bush last night" posts on this forum and felt the need to respond.
Bricklayer
This was my son's first concert. (He's eleven.) My son has 'issues' from a form of autism and has never really expressed much interest in anything outside of music. NIN is his favorite.

I can not even begin to describe how happy I was to see him light up like a Christmas tree while watching - scratch that - participating in the concert! It was an awesome show for any NIN fan, but this little guy was so stimulated by the visual display and as he put it "I could feel the music in my bones" - he hasn't shut up since!

Mom enjoyed it, too. The visuals were much better then the Fragile tour. The sound was awesome, which is no small acheivement in AWA and Trent connected with those of us in the outer rows.

The spiral early entrance got us out of the heat and appeared to be a great option for those with GA floor tickets.

Thank you to the people who put out their smokes or moved when my son freaked and fuck you to those who were assholes about it. wgdcr
Good for him. I have already read most of what was featured in that article. And while my deep respect of his music and artistic content stands, <i>hating</i> anyone because of their beliefs is fascist in definition. Appro, i won't see the hatred but i'll raise Trent a respectful disagreement. You know, he took musical advice from Bono for Fragile, but he should have taken efficacy advice as well. Bono actually lobbies to all relevant parties, sees the legislation through which proceeds to save lives in Sub-Saharan Africa, instead of telling fans whether or not they're ideologically conformant enough to listen to his music.

And i'm not even a Republican.
Upon closer look at that post, i found a response that i thought was interesting...
I dare say if you go up to any rock star, celebrity, or personality with a "Fuck Those That Aren't With Me" persona, and ask them "Hey, Celebrity! You said the leader of Group X is lame! Does that mean people in Group X shouldn't be fans?", you're asking a pretty leading question, and you'll get a response such as "fuck em".

It's all theatre, folks -- our man TR is a fucking genius, and Bush does indeed suck, but Trent is far too intelligent to not be able to separate people as individuals (and music fans) from their political beliefs.

And no, I am not a Republican. Green Party, baby!
You know, i hate to point this out, but...

Bush: "If you are not with us, than you are with the terrorists."
Trent: "If you do not agree with my political views, than you are not my fan."

Much different contexts, to be sure, but the same logic.

And Jeanne Garafolo? She's about as politically astute as a hyena on downers.
MikeyLiz
Only kicks ass live.

Eraser/RWIB/BYIT session was worth it.

I ache now.
Arizonian wrote: <i>hating</i> anyone because of their beliefs is fascist in definition.
i'd tend to concur with my roommate, but i think the mindset is more totalitarian than fascist.

but oh yeah great show last night :) i'm not a huge nin fan, and the "hate people who disagree with me" stuff is tragic, but a great show is a great show hehe

He said "they shouldn't be fans", but I get your point. What I don't understand is why people have a problem with musicians voicing their opinions on world politics. Actors.. ok. I can go with that. Music is fair game though. Further, he has a right to his opinion. Someone asks a question, he answered it. If you are a neocon, then by all means keep listening if you want. Or don't. Getting your feelings hurt everytime someone you admire doesn't share your views is immature.
Last night's show was my first NIN show. Definitely the most energetic (and BEST) concert I've been to.

I guess I'm probably in the minority in that I was way under-impressed by Autolux. The chick drummer was decent, but the minute long noise breaks in all of their songs got old really quick. I can normally respect bands regardless if I like their music or not, provided they're good at what they do. Only problem is I couldn't figure out what they were doing, but I'm still pretty sure they weren't good at it.

QOTSA was pretty good though. I thought they could have done one or two less songs and I would have been a little happier. The ragging on that damn fool was entertaining though. Also, is it me or does the lead singer stand and hold his guitar like Hettfield? (sp?)

Finally, as we'd expect, NIN was incredible! Been a fan for 15 years (even before I knew who did that 'Head like a Hole' song, all I knew was that I liked it) and as mentioned above, this was my first NIN show... and long overdue. It exceeded my expectations all around with the exception of no encore. But with such a strong set overall, I got my moneys worth and have no room to complain.

I was a little bummed that I was basically deaf by the time Not So Pretty Now came on, so I couldn't make out but 1/4 of the lyrics. Either way, based on the pace and energy of the song I think I like it.

The lighting and sound was phenomenal (best I've experienced at any concert, AWA or elsewhere). Too bad the Tucson show didn't get rescheduled because I would have purchased tickets for that too after that experience last night.

Arizonian: With regard to the footage during RWIB of the Prez ballroom dancing... I'm pretty sure that the "cheers" were in support of the point Trent was making with the combination of the "moving" (in the emotional way, not motion) imagery and music, not in support of Shrub. As "conservative" as Arizona may be, (in general) the goth crowd tends to be anything but conservative. Well, at least that's how it was 10 years ago when I was active in that scene and I doubt much has changed... Anyway, they made up a significant portion of the crowd at the show so that's why I'm doubtful it was in support of Bush. Eh, either way, my cheer was in support of Trent.

Awesome show and I can't wait for the next!

Yep. You hit the nail on the head. I think that's when most of the people made the connection to what the contrasting images were truly saying.

a very engaging show. i loved the set design and layout.

really cool lighting expansion during The Line Begins to Blur (this song is quickly becoming a staple). nice blood/fire red during Closer also.

there was good energy at the start of the show (esp. Wish and March of the Pigs) which made the cinematic sequence well timed and enjoyable.

there are some really compelling images set to these well placed songs (not to beat a dead horse, but Eraser is chilling) and i'd really recommend taking a step back and actually getting a good overall view.

i was transfixed by the Sin lighting. i'm not sure if anyone else caught it, but there was a spiral light array of colors spewing from the back...really cool.

my only drawback... the old guy that was on something (really tweaked) who wore a wig and purse like thing dancing and yelling during the slowest parts of Right Where it Belongs. i almost feel a little sad for him. juding by the look in his eyes, he either died last night or is well on his way to complete destruction. hope everything works out or i'm wrong.

Not so Pretty sounded really good (esp lyrically), but it's tough to pick up the subtleness of the music in a sports arena...Sunspots would have been great, but getting a song debut is worth the trade off.

i'm looking forward to future shows/posts to see how much it evolves...my guess is it won't change much. the show is solid and beautiful as is.

and finally i agree with NINja(e)...Deep was great.

I attended this show, but I had a stupid "print out at home" ticket from ticketmaster. If anyone has an extra acutal used ticket be it GA or a seat ticket. I would be willing to buy it from you for a reasonable price. I collect tickets from shows that I have been to, and this shitty print out ticket simply will not do for my collection. Thanks for your help!!

E-mail/PM/IM me if you can help!! Thanks!

Well, there were several comments at the beginning of this heading supporting the idea that some people cheered, some people booed, and so on. I'm just responding to them. From where i was sitting, it seemed like a slight murmur, but mostly a timely lull in an otherwise noisey crowd.

Seriously though, as well-argued as your point has been (and I applaud your well thought out points) I have found Trent's thoughts on the current administration to be intelligent and well-stated. Perhaps his criticisms of the administration is rooted in an issue quite different than your personal views, however they seem to be just as valid. Please don't confuse TR's views with the sometimes rabid ideology of his fans.

Just thought I'd post to point out how ignorant it is to base an argument around a single quoted line (the one saying Republicans shouldn't be fans). That can be taken in to many different ways, not to mention there's more than likely much, much more to his opinions than that one line -- and yeah, he never actually came out and said, "If you're a Republican, then fuck off and don't listen to my music." There wasn't even much description of the setting the quote was made in.

No offense to Arizonian because they seem really intelligent...it just seems like all that intellect is going to waste by overanalyzing something that none of us know all that much about in the first place.

But yeah. Needs less politics in this topic. Too terrible.

And I need to register again. I forgot my user name and password.

Nevertheless, back on topic!

Did anyone else notice that he altered the lyrics to "Only" somewhat? I loved the performance of "Only" live, but that part didn't sit too well with me.

they actually played a remix of Only. if you look back to some of the self-destruct tour stuuf, you'll see they played things like Piggy (Nothing can Stop Me Now) and Closer to God (instead of Piggy and Closer). the music was different too (mostly beats but gtrs and bass also) but most people didn't catch that. they played the mix that has been played with the video on M(crap)TV.

and besides the video version being slightly shorter, i don't believe there is any difference from the album version.

Ah, that makes better sense. I didn't even think of that, though I noticed that he played (I think) All the Pigs, All Lined Up and Right Where It Belongs (V.2) instead of the original tracks. Go me.

And I was Arizonian, Too, in case there's any confusion.

I think I'm the only one who didn't entirely enjoy the live performance of Deep. I think the only thing that made it okay for me was that every other part of the concert was fucking awesome.

For a pointless addition, some people almost got into a fight beside me because one guy bitched about some girl smoking, thanking her for smoking right in front of him, to which she replied, "You're welcome. Next time, I'll blow it right in your face." And so started retarded arguments about who should or shouldn't be at the concert, with the girl even using the guy wearing a polo shirt as ammo. I wanted to shit down all of their throats.

"Love Is Not Enough" sounds worlds better live.

I started adoring "Starfuckers, Inc." once I heard it live, especially with the adding of "but it's not about you" after the "i'll bet you think this song is about you" line. Has this ever been done before? This was my first time seeing NIN live.

And people are throwing a fit on the Autolux message board about Autolux playing well before 7:30. Didn't affect me because I showed up way early.

Finally, I didn't know there was a Spiral entrance. :( Where was it?

(i mentioned this on another post)... if you get the chance, listen to Love is Not Enough on a nice 5.1 system and you'll be blown away... it's even better than the live version.

the entrance was on the South/South-West side of the arena (just off 2nd and 7th).
i was just wondering where the screens different from the part of march of the pigs as eraser or is there somthing speacial when eraser gets going.

well the autolux fans do have a right to get pissed if the tickets say that the show starts at 7:30, and they show up at the right time and the first act has already finished their set...it would piss me off too

Yeah, they started playing before 7 even...in fact I was wondering if it even was Autolux for a minute. My first thought was "hey, bonus band to keep us entertained until 7:30". Glad we got in at 6:15...
Bricklayer
I had wondered what the deal was with Autolux. We got to AmWest Arena at 6:45 and had only been there a little bit and Autolux started playing. I literally thought I had somehow lost a 1/2 hour or something. After that things happened so fast that I really paid no attention to time.

Truthfully, I am sorry for their fans but glad that they started early because I had to work in the morning and I had stuff to do when I got home!

Finally--YES--please stop all the political bitching. Trent has his thoughts, we have ours. As for Trent's new political awareness and positions--hey, the man got sober in the last 4 years. You think he might have started paying more attention to the world around him? Hmmmmm? Yeah. Just a little. And for the record, the new sober Trent does a mighty fine job on stage. Sober is good!

Yeah, i concur, i do think i've dragged it out and "overanalyized" it as one particularly respectful poster mentioned (thanks for your comments, they were helpful and appreciated). Just for the record, when i mentioned before that he had changed his position on political involvement, it was because he explicitly did not want to get into politics not because he didn't have opinions, but because he thought all "sides" were lacking in some way and because he didn't want to alienate his fans. But perhaps his sobreity (sp?) has compelled him to change his position.

But yeah, the show last night was completely awesome, and the sober Trent does a great job indeed. I was amazed how intense Trent and the band could be while still following the songs so well. Especially during the opening songs (Love is Not Enough and Wish)...they really seemed to thrash around on stage, while not loosing their spots in the sonic madness. One of the best shows i've ever been to, to be sure.

Exactly what I thought when the lights first went out and they came on. Then they started playing and I realized it was Autolux.

And yeah, I'd have probably been annoyed, too, if I had missed them, considering I listened to them beforehand and actually liked them a bunch, so I can see where they're coming from.

1.) I wasnt referring to "you" as neocon or immature. I mean "you" as in "anyone". I was done adressing "you" after my first sentence. Sorry if I wasnt clear.
2.) I wouldnt identify myself as a liberal or conservative. I have mixed feelings about both ideologies and no love or interest in any political party.
3.) I don't personally give a crap what TR says. I just get tired of people complaining about a celebrity saying openly how they feel, whether I agree, disagree, or have no opinion. A little more blunt expression does our society a degree of good.

I was one of the unlucky ones who showed up close to the ticket time of 7:30 and missed Autolux. No good.
I think it might be better to see them live in a bit smaller venue though, so I was just a little depressed. QOTSA was good, as usual, particuarly the last few tunes. Nothing to say about NIN that hasnt been covered by someone already.. other than it is simply amazing how well they can maintain clarity and sound quality in an arena. They sounded as good as the Marquee shows, and I was on the side. Tough to beat. Thanks to everyone who took/shared media from the show.

Cheers.
Bricklayer
NIN was great drunkin, stoned, fun entertainment. Compared to the Marquee perfomances they all were great in each presentation. I enjoyed that we all heard "Not So Pretty Now" can't wait to hear in studio quality maybe?

- Highlights for me where were taken my friends who love Manson and who have never seen NIN. We had seats in section 109 row 5. Almost in the middle on soon as NIN started my group and jumped on the metal fence and hopped the wall without spilling my $9.00 beer. They were blown away with the show as a whole and understand NIN now. "Which to me is something I've tried to explain about how talented Trent and the band are, in any NIN era."

All i can say is shit happens and everyone is ok, and at least we got to see them at AWA, though most would agree it would have been nice to have used my GA tickets at TCC "Tuck Son"...

Here's the review of the show from the AZ Republic complete with 10 pictures.
Drove 435 miles from El Paso, TX to Phoenix to see NIN. I just have to say that the trip was more than just worth it. Unfortunately we did not get to the show in time to see Autolux, but QOTSA was veryentertaining. They put on a great show. It had been 10 years since we last saw NIN in HELL PASO, TX, and was really looking forward to the show. Trent had such energy. He looked more gorgeous than ever(sorry, I'm a chic, absolutely needed to add this comment). The set list was great, really liked hearing plenty of the old songs mixed in with the new. All in all the entire show was an awesome experience. Still reminicing about the show, lots of memories. Hope to see them again sometime in the near future. :D [/code]

Yes! Josh had me laughing the whole time, between the smart-ass comments and the Elvis impersonation, he was a hoot. And don't think I'm giving him shit about channeling Elvis--he just seems to have that Elvis thing going on. He's a great musician, and apparently he'd make a good comedian.

As for every hole being filled, I believe he also said something about "Bring on the dick."

Hmmmmmm. No comment on that one.

I will know throw in my 2 cents worth of the show now. I needed sometime to gain full use of my arms due to pit arm. It was a fucking amazing show. The whole Premium Spiral Membership was so fucking worth it if you have not bought one I suggest that you do soon. Geting in early and not having to come in a big crazy mass was great. Not So Pretty was great to hear live and I have waited for years to be able to hear DEEP live and now I can say that I have. The energy, savagery and brutality that Trent Co put on was spectacular. But again some ass holes don't want to get there early or buy Spiral Memberships just rather come busting through to the front being an ass-hole and pretty much pissing everyone off. The crowd was great and seeing all my NIN FREAKS was great. I wont say all your names though because you fucking know who you are!! I left fully satiated I am still kinda disappointed that they did not have meet and greets/ sound checks here in the states. Why do the Europeans get to have all the fun anyway??? After the show I was craving a Guinness and some nonalcoholic liquid libations. So I called back my man because he had called me during my wait in he merch line and did I not want to share my conversation with others while waiting in line. My Shirt jacket was so saturated in mine and everyone else sweat that I took it off in my Jeep and talked to my man with just my bra covering my top half of my body. With the A/C set on Alaska I began to feel way better. After I hung up with him I went in search of my beverages at the Hard Rock across from AWA. Meet a guy that was there at the show started some NIN chatter. Right after they call last call at 12: 00 AM which I found odd because last call is 2:00 now in AZ This other guy walked up to the bar to get a drink and me and my new drinking buddy inquired if he had been to the show. He said he worked for the artist. Which made me freak out. I told him how much we appreciated his hard work with NIN. He verified the claim that Trent is a perfectionist which is nothing new to us here at ETS. He then proceeds to hand me and my fellow NIN freak an NIN guitar pic I will try to take a pic of it and post it here. He also said don't post his name for fear of being fired so I wont be outing him here today. When he gave it to me I nearly cried and I gave him a very strong hug of appreciation. I will always remember his generosity that night as I greedily finger my NIN guitar pic saying MY PRECIOUS!!! MY PRECIOUS!!! I will defiantly see if I can go to another west coast show.
This was my first NIN concent, eventhough i've been a fan for years. I've been to over 30 concerts in my life and this one sits in the top 4, it was plain bad ass. Trent and band lay it all on the line and really fuck shit up.

BTW..i don't know if i'm totally off here, but did NIN play a cover song? I thought that they went into a cover during one of the jams, but i im' not sure. Perhaps someone who was a little more sober can recall?
