Administrator's edit: Topic moved from Speak Your Mind forum. Please post only if you were at the show.

I just got home from the show at the deltaplex, and I'm dissapointed at the redneck a**holes that were throwing things on stage during "Hurt" causing the end of what what shaping up to be the best concert ever. How can people be so damn ignorant?

Discussion is regarding lighter hitting Reznor is HERE.

I was near the front all night (Covered in beer, but luckily my Coil T-Shirt has no cig burns through it), so i'm sort of wore out, however...

Mr. Selfdestruct to open which was pretty awesome. I don't know what the lead in was, as i was still in the entrance to the barn when they took the stage (I thought it was the Moving Units playing).

I'm not going to try to recall the setlist, but it was the norm until The Day The World Went Away, which was fucking awesome. It sounded a lot better than it did five years ago at the Van Andel, and Josh Freese pounded those fucking drums to hell at the end.

The crowd wasn't into the show too much at first, but as the show progressed, the crowd got more and more rowdy. By the time they got to Only, most of the floor was hopping.

Aaron seemed quite wore out after the first few songs, though. I dare say Mr. White had more energy than Aaron did.

Oh, and Trent's speech. He told us how happy he was to be on this tour, as the crowds on this leg have been the best yet. Then he went on to say that he had gotten the first bra of the tour, and proudly held it up.

It sucks it had to end the way it did, and that we missed The Hand That Feeds, Starfuckers, and Head Like A Hole. No smashy-smashy tonite.

~niCk~

Grand Rapids always holds a diff. experience every time I go. It was a bad ass concert, but as usual there had to be some people who couldn't handle their alcohol/drugs.

Link not working.

edit: second link better.
Master of the Ninth Arch
link is working as far as i can tell
heres a yousendit link as well

http://s60.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0661 ... 3MNBL3CJ6P

it's encoded with a general divx encoder, i'm no vid buff, it works for me and all i have installed is the k-lite codec pack.
Oh my God. I felt a little disappointed and betrayed at first, but now that I know what happened I just want to kill that bastard that threw it. Trent is a GOD. This is my first post, but nobody had a setlist yet, and the whole thing upset me.

Here's the setlist, as I was writing the songs down as they went, so it's 100% accurate:

Pilgrimmage intro
Mr. Self Destruct
Sin
Terrible Lie
The Line Begins to Blur
March of the Pigs
The Frail
The Wretched
Closer (The Only Time breakdown)
The Big Come Down
Burn
Gave Up

*screen down*
Eraser
Right Where it Belongs
Beside You in Time
*screen up*

With Teeth
Wish
Only
Every Day is Exactly the Same
The Day the World Went Away
Even Deeper
Suck
Hurt (well...most of it)

It saddens me that we didn't get Starfuckers, THTF, and HLAH.

While the crowd was upbeat I thought their responses to the band were HORRIBLE. Aside from the obvious meltdown, the crowd made me ashamed to even be there. During the eraser (maybe Right Where It Belongs, I'm not sure) scene where the bird is caught in a pond and eaten, people started laughing and cheering... I realize the video is supposed to be moving and whatnot, and to me, this response is not acceptable.

Did anyone notice that the Pilgrimage intro was a little untimely? It came on right in the middle of the venue music and no one really knew what was going on until the lights went out.. Pilgrimage interrupted whatever music was playing, those who knew it started cheering, and then the lights just shut out and Self Destruct started.

Through the parts we got to see, NIN lived up to all my expectations. Mr Self Destruct and all of the Broken tracks were simply mindblowing. I wish I could have kept myself from watching the screen video before the concert, because that in itself was worth the ticket. I thought that this setlist really lent itself to a damaging effect, however. It kind of drags on after the screen comes up, and without Wish in there the crowd could be easily killed. I loved the band though, all the songs were perfect, and it's sad that we'll never see them in GR again.

Also, after the show was over a huge melee broke out near the merch table.. Apparently a few guys decided it would be cool to fight over this girl who claimed to have been groped (please, it's a fucking concert) during the show. These two assholes started fighting, security got there and was literally pushed down by other people.. It got ugly REAL quick.

Great, great band, horrible experience.
I agree man, the band's performance was tight. I'm a huge fan, and loved all the songs, and my girlfriend has just heard them through me, it was her first NIN show. She liked the songs, so I disagree that the set "lent itself" to this end.

WTF was with that intro, I caught that too. For about 30 seconds to a minute the two tracks overlapped, even after the lights were off. I heard Josh lose time once near the beginning, but other than that it was superb. (well, other than the other obvious fucked up thing that happened)

I hate drunk fucking retards who think that shit is cool. Trent is amazing, nay, legendary, and to do that shit is apalling. I guess now he and Bowie have something more in common now.
goat wrote:Apparently a few guys decided it would be cool to fight over this girl who claimed to have been groped (please, it's a fucking concert) during the show.
I am not the girl in question, but I feel the need to say the following:

It is one thing to accidentally get shoved against someone/brush against certain regions of the body. It is quite another to deliberately grope someone. I was having a relatively decent time until the small-dicked dipshit behind me decided to persistently and deliberately cop a feel. Yes, it's a concert, and I expect to get a little, perhaps moderately, roughed up in the pit. However, it is NOT OK when someone sticks their hands down your pants and starts grinding up against you and feeling you up. That is called sexual assault and it's illegal and disgusting.

Before you start telling me to "suck it up and deal" and that "it's a concert, if you don't want to get felt up, get out of the pit," please take a minute and consider what you're saying--that men can't help themselves and thus women should get out of their way, that it's our responsibility to make sure that we keep ourselves out of situations where uncivilized assholes will take advantage of us. It is sad to think that there are still people who try and blame the victim. You sicken me.

Wow.

By reading this thread you would think the concert sucked???

IT DIDNT. I have seen NIN like 6 times now and this is the tightest the band has ever sounded. The setlist was KILLER, the bands energy was high, and I thought the crowd was fairly into it. I was suprised at how diverse the crowd was however and the fact I talked to young and old to hear that this was their first NIN show.

Mr Self destruct is awesome, as is EDiETS, With Teeth, Even Deeper, TDTWWA was a nice suprise, and I have a whole new respect for ERASER.

Maybe I wasnt paying attention, but have they been playing The Big Come Down at other shows? And the fact that we got Beside You In Time and Right Where It Belongs back to back was cool.

I thought this was an amazing concert and was a bit suprised by the abrubt ending. My first thought was that the keyboard malfunctioned so he threw it down, but then when they didnt come back out I fugured someone did something to piss him off.

It was a GREAT show with a fucked up ending. I'm not pissed about it but Ive seen the "missed" songs before. If it was my first time seeing NIN.....the person throwing the lighter would definitely be on my shit list.

They played for like 2 hours though (8:30 to 10:30?). And as you all know this band doesnt take breaks.......

On another note Moving Units wasnt horrible. I wish they would stand up for themselves though and give some shit back to the crowd. They kinda sounded like the Cure to me a little bit!? Some tough guy in the crowd with a marijuana shirt on was yelling "You guys suck" and also "Fags". I wanted to go punch him in the mouth.....what a moron.
dude, i was one of them. i was right in front of the light booth, and from back there it looked badass. then i realized it was over. then i was pissed. now i'm really pissed. they better not not come back because of one douche.

the rest of the 'cert kicked ass, though.
Master Traveler
I was told that he was beaten to the ground.. I wasn't anywhere near it though.
kainen_J wrote:Explain to me why one of you assholes didn't kick the living shit out of the cock sucker who threw the lighter?

I'll explain to you why...

Its because no one knew what the fuck was going on. I had a friend up at the front pretty much dead center.. He didn't see anything.

How were the fans supposed to know. There was no words.. He just threw the keyboard down and left. I thought it was all a part of the show til I saw him walking off the side of the stage. Then about 1 to 2 minutes later the rest of the band finally figured that it was over and left too. I think almost everyone thought they were going to come back out for an encore. It took almost 3 - 4 minutes for the lights to come back on after they left.
Master of the Ninth Arch
well now that i'm not buzzed anymore, i got a chance to look over what I got from the show, almost 2hours of it on 3 mem sticks. (i knew it was a good idea to buy that 2gb stick) I only missed parts of a couple songs when I couldn't wait anylonger for some alcohol, but still I think you're all going to enjoy it. still have to wait until i get out of work. no dime no demon it'll be up on a member free spot. hopefully everyone can be a grown up and seed for atleast a couple hours after they get it.

Sexual assaults and concerts
People do not have control. AKA I think what Trent preaches day in and day out. He has regained control over his addiction and is in the pilot seat again.
People get drunk, they do dumb things...
People are horny and they do even dumber things when drunk....and at a concert.
This is something we have to live with.
People leave a concert so trashed they can't put the key in the ignition and think its okay to drive home, people grope a girl at a concert....
Last night I saw a pickup truck drive up the side of the Deltaplex parking lot and take off just to have a undercover michigan state police officer fly down the road to pull him over.
He did not exercise control over his actions.......we got out of the concert early, if anything we were "ahead of schedule"
We need to respect eachother.
We just have to face it, every girls set of assets is "something we can never have" unless we earn it from you.
Although this is a concert, people are on every substance known to man, and just like a guy grabbing your ass, if there is a altercation, it could get very violent considering no one really pays attention to who did what or started what. The best thing to do is inevitably let it go, or if your one for violence.....follow him around the show behind him, and when the chance arrives, grab him by the back of his t-shirt choking him to the ground, throw a t-shirt on his face if you want it to be anonymous, and give him a number or two.
Amazing show, I can't say much that hasn't already been said. There were a lot of tracks that I didn't expect to hear.

I knew I was surrounded by morons, though. The cheering of the attack of the animal, the women freakdancing to songs like Frail and Hurt. Also, I understand letting loose during Closer, Mr. Self Destruct, Suck, Eraser, etc. why would you go to a NIN concert to freak out and scream during the Frail and Right Where It Belongs?

Sometimes I couldn't tell if I should participate in the pit, headbang stationary or stare at the stage, all of which very pleasing experiences.

I don't really blame Trent for leaving like he did, but I'm still agitated that I had to miss the encore, especially Starfuckers.

This was quite possibly the best show I've ever seen live, it started pretty much on time, very little wait between the thankfully short opener and the main set. I spent almost the entire show stuck in a circle of dance prone women who were quite attractive grinding against me during the entire thing. Oddly enough I was more concerned with being able to see Trent and all aspects of what was happening on stage than those around me.

If and when NIN comes through Michigan again, I will definitely be there.
I have to say last nights show was amazing!!!! I think its shitty that one stupid ass had to ruin the show for the rest of us and I wish bad things upon him, but i don't blame Trent for taking off and ending the show. i would have done the same thing. i only hope that this immature action hasn't disgusted the band enough to the point that they won't return to GR for another show down the road. I think "Right where it belongs" was performed beautifuly as well as "Hurt," at least what we got to hear of it. NIN thanks for an awesome experience, yet again you guys performed one hell of a show. I hope you return to GR in the future.
You know what......I would love it if the idiot who threw the lighter would post a message on why the hell he did it. I don't understand why you would throw something at the member of the band you paid to watch give a performance? Whats the significance in hurting them? Also i would like to know how badly he got beat up. Why do there have to be such ignorant fools in the world? What happened to commen sense? Hopefully this won't ruin the chances of ever seeing NIN in Grand Rapids again. To the man that threw the lighter at Trent.....do us all a favor and grow up and think about the actions you are about to commit from now on.
Troll
HEY!

Why is everyone so pissed off. I thought that what Trent did was completely unprofessional. He got hit with a lighter so he through a signature Trent Reznor hissy fit. After talking with Aron and Jeordie, I was suprised to see that they were not irritated by Trent's actions. I guess they figure they are rockstars and can do what they please. In my opinion, Trent had no real reason to actually end the show. The crowd was pretty bad. They gave the Moving Units very little good feedback. I thought they were very good. I thought they were even better after I had a conversation with them about record labels. I always end up feeling bad for opening bands because of the poor feedback they get from the crowd. I was dissapointed that I missed Trent yet again after meeting the rest of the band in San Diego once. Although I did get him a copy of a story I wrote based around The Fragile. I guess he needed to recover from his oh so swollen lip. I really appreciate Trent as an ARTIST. I find it hard conjure up any admiration for his skills as a business man.

JAKE ALLEN
i was really disapointed about the show ending so abruptly (though i understand the reason) because i was having an amazing time. (except when security walked past carrying a girl who looked dead, then proceeded to do CPR on her five feet behind me. something about the huge-vacant-eyes stare of a dead/k.o.'ed person scares the shit out of me.) i might be the only one that actually LIKED the opening band, too, haha..

nin333 wrote:HEY!

they are pissed off because some juvenile dick ruined the show by throwing things at trent in the middle of a song. you wouldn't mind if someone threw random objects at your head while you are trying to perform a song....errrr write a story (based on an album?)? i am willing to bet that you would become a bit enraged, distracted, and "unprofessional" if a projectile hits you in the eye. perhaps a simple "fuck you" from trent would have sufficed, but walking off stage is understandable.

on a side note, you might be better off worrying about your own finances. i'm pretty sure trent is well covered by his current business practices.

If you weren't at last night's show, stfu.
I agree with orestes.

and, I talked to Jeordie and he said that someone threw a lighter.
According to "show officials" Trent got a black eye.

But that could be a mistake because I know one of their roadies has a black eye.

Once again this board would rather talk about the 2 or 3 songs that werent played as opposed to the 21 songs that were played (and brilliantly at that)

Whatever....focus on the negative like NIN fan's are supposed to.

Who knew Kalamazoo was the epicenter of insider secrets?

Look, it's pretty plain and simple: the tour journal is to discuss concerts. If you want to share anymore secrets you have, post in the tour discussion forum.
" I find it hard conjure up any admiration for his skills as a business man. "

Oh yeh, hes a pretty shitty business man, you know, putting on this whole sucessful tour that is going to run for almost two years after releasing an album that barly any airplay.....earning a fuckload of money from everything that Marilyn Manson makes because he runs a record label, owning a successful studio...man he blows as a business man. I bet he lives in the gutter.
Both bands were great! I thought (hoped) that the crowd was jeering Bush but the regergitaited bullshit I hear around here, I am not so sure..... My wife thought they were cheering.
How screwed up is that! Bush cheers from a NIN crowd.
I was the drunken guy who bitched all the way out the door about this crowd and the thrown object. My wife made me shut up which was most likely a good idea.
As far as groping is conceren, my wife had never been groped at any of the hundreds of concerts we have been to until we moved to Grand Rapids and that was at a Frank Black concert! I love living in a christian comunity!!

I was front and center on the floor. I couldn't get up to the railing because it was all chicks on and dudes protecting them. I wasn't about to start throwing them around. However, there were only two people in front of me and I was standing between them and had a clear view of the stage. I saw a flash next to me which immediately drew my attenetion. I followed the flash and it bounced off the legs of Trent's synthesizer stand and made a metal clanging noise and went out. At first everything was cool for a second. Trent was concentratiing on playing the song. Then he looked down at the object , shook his head and tipped his keyboard off the stage and stormed off the stage. The only thing it could have been was a lit zippo. It didn't hit him at all. I didn't think it was that big of a deal though it was a really dumbass thing to do. I see the risk of it, but nothing happened. Definitely nothing to end a concert over. I was pissed though I saw the same show at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit which was way better. I just feel like I got screwed driving from Detroit to Grand Rapids for the show and paying 50$ for a ticket. I wouldn't have went had I known that gay shit was going to go down. I would have just went to work.

The GA floor was a sea of middle fingers, so no there was no cheering, but GR is pretty ultra conservative, so I'm sure some people there were pro-Bush.

That was during Every Day is Exactly The Same... you can tell by the desert backdrop.

In response to the guy who claims that he saw a flash hit the leg of Trent's keyboard: this is incorrect. The lighter was thrown by a guy about 4 people to my left. We were on Aaron's side of the stage, about 10 people back from the stage, and I was able to watch the release of the lighter and its travel to the stage. It hit Trent in the left cheek, his face recoiled quite a bit, he looked down at his keyboard, and then shoved it over. He had more than adequate reason to end the show. This happened very shortly after Jeordie came in with his part in the song, so yes, the band was on stage as well. Unfortunately, it was too dark for me to see who threw the lighter - I guess I'm not a fighter anyways, but I would have like to ask him "why?" As a sidenote- I do not know if it is an accurate indication of the general population of Grand Rapids- I am from the middle of the state- but there was a disproportionately large amount of assholes in the crowd. I feel like the only positive Trent COULD mention about the crowd's reaction was that the band received its first bra of the tour. Frankly, I am embarrassed to have been a part of that audience. And after TDTWWA... fuck.

It's a fair representation of the population of West Michigan farm country. I live in the city of Grand Rapids, and within the city limits people are generally cool and easy going. But once you step foot into the suburbs and farm country, you start to deal with a lot of assholes, rascists and ultra-conservatives.
I was embarrassed at times to have been a part of the audience, too. There were a lot of morons on the floor, and the way people were hollering and acting foolish while the screen was down was just pure bullshit.
I feel had the concert been at the Van Andel, many of the assholes would have been weeded out, and the whole situation would have been avoided.

If you block out half of the audience and the ending of the concert from your memory, it was a pretty damn good show. That's what i have to keep telling myself.

~niCk~
Grand Rapids was awesome. What they did play was amazing. I was on Jeordie's side but closer to the center and I was a row of people behind so I was pretty close. I could see pretty well minus the fact the girls in front of me piled their hair so high, curled it and coated it with hairspray. Who the hell does that? Well anyways, I had no clue what went down during hurt. I thought he was just throwing the keyboard down and then was going to hop on another one but then the lights came on. My friend who was on the rail said that she saw like a flame/light or something fly out of the air and something hit him in the face and when I found out I was pissed. It was understandable for him to walk off stage. You give your all to an audience and do what you love, then someone hits you in the face with a lighter. That is highly disrespectful. I agree with whoever said it, there were a lot of assholes in the crowd. I went to go see them in Detroit a few months ago and when he played "Hurt" the whole stadium calmed down, got out their lighters, and sang along with him. That was fuckin awesome. I am just glad I got to see them again because it made my life all the more better. It just makes me nervous that they won't want to return because of some asshole.

Too, where can I get those files from the concert? I don't have torrent on this computer and I don't know where to get it at now.
although the show was cut short, i had a blast....

I don't know about middle Michigan, but I am a farm girl from the North (TC area or so) and I can only hope that it was the particular crowd that night being assholes and not all the people of Michigan. I just hope NIN comes back to the state, particularly to Grand Rapids, because it's a long-ass drive to get to Chicago from where I live, and since I'm not a city girl, Detroit frankly scares me. At least Grand Rapids is a bit of a compromise.

The article in the Kalamazoo Gazette this morning (same one in the Grand Rapids Press) states that Trent Reznor had a black eye as a result of the lighter being thrown at him. It may not have been anything very disabling, but it probably hurt like hell and it's obnoxious to have something thrown at your eye when you're trying to do something. (And if he does have a black eye, it's going to look ugly for a good bit of the rest of the tour. Put some ice on it, Trent, and good luck with the rest of the tour!) I'm surprised that he hasn't posted anything personally on the nin.com website about it, but that's the official report. I'm willing to believe it unless someone proves otherwise.

During most of the show I was dead center o nthe railing with two guys next to me and my girlfriend on the front, it was quite amazing better than the Detroit show.

To berlamont, I may have been behind you for most of the concert because there was someone on the side of me with a cam recording it all, if so that would be badass if there was a way I could get a copy of your files, other than torrent. something like a direct download or email sent would work. Thanks man

if that guy was holding up of his arms for 99% of the show while trying to hide the little camera (its a sony cybershot they're the size of a disposable cam) then yeah it was me. i'm not that tall (just barely 6') so i had to hold that little bastard up the whole time other wise I wouldn't have got any good footage
Master Traveler
Wow, after not playing Hurt in Toledo... You're almost led to believe that this guy killed Hurt...? Jesus.
Wow all of that really sucks, i think that trent has been hit so many times that now its just like ok leaving now. thats very disapointing to the fans, the true fans who go there to have fun, and listen to there favortie bands, not to go (well me personally) to get fucked up and mess with people and feel up on chicks who are going to do the exact same thing i want to do, and thats rock out, NOT with my cock out. (sorry i saw an oppurtunity to use that saying so i did) i mean that is just plain wrong, you dont do that, unless you have been flirting the whole show, befoer anyone came on stage and she OR he invites it, then that is ok, but not going up to a random person and grabbing them, and as far as the lighter, WHY would you throw that, there is no point in throwing a lighter at Trent, The band, OR ANYONE< no one wants to get hit with a lighter, and if the person who threw the lighter is reading this, What did you think trent was gonna do, Laugh, say haha you got me, and throw it back. no he would get pissed. and do what he did, so would i, ESPECIALLY DURING ONE OF THE SONGS MOST DEAR TO HIM, but i am sorry for the people who missed a great show, because ive seen them three times this tour and they were great, im not trying to rub it in, i am truly sorry that one asshole ruined it for all of you, I hope you rioted, jk jk, but i hope SOMEONE saw who threw it and kicked his ass.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Alright I got it compressed and ready for you guys. I didn't have time to resplice any of these files, so either find a way to do it, or wait until I can get it done.

http://www.demonoid.com/torrents/details/284581

The vid can be pretty shakey at times, especially when I had a couple people land on my head(and camera) so don't bitch about it, I was in the pit afterall. I'll spread it around to more trackers tommorow. For the moment its only on demonoid (my tracker is down atm, but when it's up anyone can use it without needing to signup).

PM me if you can't get the torrent working. Also I compressed this into a self extracting rar archive. It cut almost 600mb off the orig filesize, so even though you can't preview any of it while downloading, it cut a third off the download time. ENJOY!

Master Traveler
Thank you very kindly sir. Apparently I'll have to wait for your personal tracker because despite the fact that I have a demonoid acct, it will only connect to the peers (and thus will not download at all). However, I look forward to seeing this again!
Master of the Ninth Arch
Yeah, fuck him, that's right. He should be happy that we can see a whole show, I'm sure it took belamont a lot of time, so don't give him crap about the quality. It's not that simple to film a show, I have my experiences in that as well!
Master of the Ninth Arch
by the way is it allowed on NIN concerts to film the shows, I heard some roumors about that
because if I would film the Las Vegas show on April 1st
Master of the Ninth Arch
See what you get for trying to be a nice guy?
Thanks for posting this torrent file.

But I don't have an account on that torrent site.

Is there anyway you can just send me the torrent? Ill help seed for weeks if I can just get a copy without having to be a member of a site.

Thanks
Bricklayer
Berlamont, you are the man. I was at the Detroit 10/8 show and the Grand Rapids 2/20 show too. I was able to download the Detroit show from you and it was sweet, but now I just started downloading the Grand Rapids show and I plan to seed for awhile. Thanks a bunch.

Like I posted before, if you don't have a demon account, don't worry I'm posting it to other spots soon. Also if you can't seem to connect to the main seeder when trying to download this, DON'T stop the download just because of that. The whole idea of bittorrent is once a couple people start getting the content they instantly start shareing it as well. As long as a couple people have a connection to the seed you are going to get the download just fine.
Bricklayer
I look forward to your other Torrent links.

I think I know who you are, because you had your camera up the whole time it seemed. It looked like my camera: Canon Powershot SD300. Was it?

About the concert: it's really sad that someone had to ruin it for the rest of us. I'm not so sad that the concert ended a little early (it was a song from the end anyway) but that he probably won't come back now.

:(

you might want to check out www.isohunt.com

you don't have to be a member to download torrents from there. (you might have to be in order to post them though)

isohunt is really really bogged down and slow though.. www.torrentspy.com is pretty fast, in my experience anyway. Best of luck.
guys,use mininova.org or isohunt.com
i prefer mininova.org,isohunt has too many popups.
torrentspy is crap.

yes yes i did

I'm on dial-up, so i will be seeding for quite awhile (Rather i like it or not).

I have no fucking idea why my tracker quit loading.. sorry it's taking longer than I thought to get it working. It's the newest version of torrent trader lite so I dunno wtf is going on. I'm going to post it on a public tracker from mininova so everyone else can get it.

EDIT:
OK its up on a FREE (no signup required) tracker. It's also just the plain rar file (use winrar www.rarsoft.com) to open it. So if you couldn't get the download from demon working this should work on any os.

http://www.mininova.org/tor/233699

Also I dunno how long it takes to update its seeder number, but I am seeding no matter what it says.
Master Traveler
I'm about 15 minutes from getting this.. and I can't wait! Berlamont, I'm only allowed 1 gig of uploads per week on my campus server, and I'm well past that just from seeding this - I'll have to shut it down as soon as I'm done but I'll start seeding it again Saturday morning.

edit: great job man, I can't believe you managed to keep it rolling in the pit like that. I was with the shirtless kid that was running around like a fucking idiot the whole time, but a few buddies and I stayed over by the soundboard.

Thanks again.

Just so all of you guys know, I am authoring a DVD using the videos released of this show.... here's a shot of the main menu.

Image

When it is done, it'll be seeded on DimeADozen.

[edit] Made the selection arrow brighter, added 'Pilgrimage' to song list.
[edit2] I also added a second menu, now the main one, that explains the source of the recording, the significance of the show, and gives credit to Berlamont for filming it. I felt I had to explain how it was recorded because of gaps between songs due to the 21 mpegs used as a source. That way nobody playing it at home on their DVD players think their dvd player is tweaking out.
[edit3] Just realized that Wish and Only were in the videos.... the DVD was done and I was about to post the torrent without them listed as chapters... lmao.

DVD will be out around midnight, since I'll be at my girlfriends while this is converting and all that.

Sweet, saves me a bunch of time, also yeah the gaps in some of the songs were un avoidable, it was a digital 'picture' camera not meant to record 2 hours of concert. It was almost 'skin' burning hot by the time the show was over, I definatly push the battery to the limit. The mic could barely handle the bass, you can here it crash through a couple songs, and it doesn't have the best lense for tracking images while moving. Also being pushed all over the pit didn't help, although I had a couple people say that it kinda gives you the feeling that your in the pit with me (at the same time making you motion sick). I wouldn't have gone in the pit if I really wanted good steady video of the show, BUT I can't just stand around for a nin show, I just can't. Hope everyone enjoys it none the less.
Master Traveler
That's one thing about the deltaplex.. You can sit yourself in the top row with a nice camcorder and make a GREAT bootleg if you want... This was very sufficient though. The pit thing is kinda cool actually. The only song where I noticed where the bass was really bottomed out was in Sin.
Master Traveler
I found bass to be a little high in Terrible Lie and The Wretched as well. But I'm not complaining.... I think the bootleg is astounding. Check out this screen I got from it...

Also, the fixed DVD is taking forever to re-render, so I won't be able to put it out until tomorrow morning. This is the first authored DVD I've ever released, so I want to make sure it's absolutely perfect.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to add to the many post of the grand rapids show. This was my very first NIN concert. I had a blast my friend and I were pretty close to the front and when they started. Then people got fuckin pushy we lasted about 4 songs we couldn't breathe so we finally went to the side of the stage. I feel bad about what happened to trent it's bullshit actually. I just hope the assholes that were throwing shit on stage didn't ruin it for future nin concerts in grand rapids. After everthing I still had an amazing time. It definitely made my first nin concert memorable. I hope to see them again soon.

take care
MikeyLiz
Dude 40 seconds into "Hurt" you can hear me scream "SING IT TO ME TRENT"

I cannot fucking believe I got in the audio of the rip of the GR show.

Where were you standing? I was towards the middle, and a ways back. Also I'm kinda disappointed I didn't just stay up front where I was at, because shit I would have most definatly gotten that lighter hitting him in the face. Ah well

agree... I came to this show to see a good show. Not to fight, not to 'feel women up' or to throw shit at the stage... Thats just to show, that some people out there can ruin a great thing for everyone else. I thought it was a great show while it lasted.. i just hope trent comes back soon.

The GA floor was a sea of middle fingers, so no there was no cheering, but GR is pretty ultra conservative, so I'm sure some people there were pro-Bush.

I tried to find myself......

I wore a blue and white striped shirt

If I was you and you were I, I would of sat back about where I was during most of the show, you could actually stand and hold something steady ;)

The girl i went with said she thought got groped, she said a guy grabbed her boob, intentionally.
Concerts do need SOME respect, because really, they pat people down, but really, you don't want a riot starting over a boyfriend getting pissed at another guy.

Other than the link directly to the mininova torrent being posted on here, you can also search for nine inch nails on mininova and if you take a second to look you will find it, sorry I'm not going to relink it again because you don't wanna look more than two seconds.
I was sitting to the right of the stage as you were looking at the stage. I was in the front row balcony which is just above the people on the floor heads (perfect seats). As drunk as I was, I seemed to be one of the only people in our area that saw something thrown. I thought that it was a clear bottle. It looked larger than a lighter and was clear or bright. It may have looked shiny because of the spot light. The object passed right at Trents head level and to his left. Everyone screamed for more after he stopped threw down the keyboard. I started bitching that some one had thrown something and there would be no more since from what I understood Hurt was always his last song anyway.
Master Traveler
Great bootleg, Berlamont.

Did you make one of the Detroit show last fall too? I seem to remember the name berlamont attached to a set of vids I got from that show too... Either way, nice job, I appreciate it. Too bad you have to keep pointing people in the right fucking direction to download it.

I was at the show, to the left of the stage as you face it, 4th row seats. Excellent show, save for the shitty ending. blah, blah, it's all been said before.

Yep those detroit vids were mine to, but I only had a 512mb & 256mb stick for that show, this time I had a 2gb on top of the other 2. I'm glad everyone seems to enjoy it so far, over 1100 downloads of the torrent(across all trackers), and maxing out my monthly bandwidth just on that short clip of him throwing the keyboard down, nothing like rabid nin fans. ;)
Master of the Ninth Arch
Hey thanks a lot Berlamont, the show is great, feels like you were actually there!! I appreciate it, thx thx thx
Bricklayer
Hmm....Not sure how to approach this one....cause we have people saying "what a puss" and people putting up apologetic videos.....

Anywho. I just viewed the DVD of that show. badass. The fact the camera was in the pit sucked and rocked at the same time. I couldn't see the stage half the time, but when I went to the Ft. Wayne show I couldn't either. The sound was damn good for a camcorder. It felt like I was there.

On to more serious issues....

I seriously doubt that TR got a black eye from the object that hit him. A black eye takes some serious impact. In the video I saw he was playing then slammed the keyboard/mic down. If he were in fact hit with enough force to cause a black eye I would've expected him to flinch or grab at his face....something.

As to his storming off stage....I'd probably do the same. I'm passionate about my work (some weird upbringing probably). I was working the oven last night (pizza place) when one of my jackass coworkers decided to smack me in teh back of the neck with a long rope of dough. It stung. I was catching the oven until the manager got back. I chucked the peel (with someone's pizza on it) into the wall by the oven and then walked back to the sink to clean the back of my neck. I don't have a temper really (I wasn't really that mad) but I get pissed when people fuck with me when I'm working.

But to act like "poor trent" or "he got a blackeye" or whatnot is just weird to me. He was pissed off, and rightfully so. He's not The Fragile or some shit that is going to write a 20 page entry into his tear-soaked journal or something. He's an artist that got hit with a lightweight object in the face and that pissed him off enough to walk off stage. Thats about all there is too it.
Master ad Vitam
Berlamont, I can't thank you enough for filming that. The quality's amazing, and now I have something to remember the show by.
Master Traveler
Is there any other site where that DVD is up? I can never register for the dimeadozen forums...
Bricklayer
well, it's a torrent file....so it's not exactly hosted by dime a dozen.....

But I got the torrent file for you....

http://www.ghettoslack.org/GRNIN.torrent

which probably will show up as gibberish or whatnot. If it does you can go to ghettoslack.org and at the very bottom of my drunken rants I've added a link to the torrent. When I click on it it still shows up as gibberish but if you right click and 'save as' you'll be good. Then load that SOB into Azureus or BT++ or whatnot and have fun. It's a fucking amazing DVD. I've been watching it more than I ever watched "And all that could have been". (Most likely cause I've always thought that NIN should open with Mr. Self Destruct and when I went to see them for the first time (Ft. Wayne) they opened with it and I needed a change of drawers).

peace.....
if the page is down/link not working/whatnot you can email me at preclose@ghettoslack.org and I can IM the torrent file to you if needbe. My hosting is definitely ghetto and slacking.......
Master Traveler
Awesome man, I'll check it out when I get home tonight.

I saw them for the first time when they came to Minneapolis at the beginning of last November, but it seems like on this part of the tour they're playing more songs I would have wanted to hear back then...it still kicked ass, though, and I got some free drinks for save this girl's spot, heh.
I was going to see if I could see them again this year, but they keep getting farther and farther away from MN, heh.
i saw nin in chicago last may, joe louis arena in detroit in october, and grand rapids last month, if not for the lighter that could have been the best show ive seen this time around, these shows are better than the fragility tours though for sure in my opinion, that band is awesome and trent could take down a bull it seems these days on stage, when back during fragility v2.0 he seemed like a whisp of wind might put him out of his misery, i dont need to say shite about the lighter, been sed enough... 5th nin show so far and it even though 2-3 songs short, was fucking good, l8r g8rz

I'm sure there is....
I would like to get a disc of this show as well. The quality isn't exactly great but it's not poor either. It'd be nice just to have it to pop in every here or there.

If anybody knows the easiest way to do this...post it....I know of a very ghetto way of doing it but I'm not gonna do it. It's a royal pain in my ass.

Surely there's a better way......
Master Traveler
I was just watching Berlamont's video and during With Teeth thought of something: anyone on here catch the tambourine? :P
It was my first NIN show too and I felt like shit after what happened. I saw the lighter go flying and if I wasn't 5'3 I could have caught it. Damn height. Anyway, what happened was some typical rock and roll drama. rockstar takes the stage, gets hit in the face, walks offstage. Hey, at least it wasn't a bottle or a shoe. I heard that TR deals with worse shit than that anyway, like getting death threats and stuff. Can anyone clue me in on that?
Master Traveler
This was such a great, great, GREAT show. Too bad it had to end so badly.

The Moving Units sucked. They brought a whole new meaning to the whole crappy opening band cliche. I mean, the whole audience was just standing there, looking like, "wtf?"

The crowd at the show was a little...off. I can't really describe it. Disrespectful comes to mind, of course, like during the whole curtained section of the show and when that asshole lighter-ed Reznor at the end. It was just...meh. I wasn't into that crowd.

The show was amazing. TDTWWA blew my mind, as MSD as an opener was fantastic. Lead in song, band enters stage, and BOOM, big old flash and it explodes into MSD. The piano lead in to EDIETS was nice, too.

During one of the slower songs, some kid near me (I was about two or three people back from the bar, on Aaron's side) yelled "Put your fuckin' lighters up, put your fuckin' lighters up!" and then people started throwing shit at him and told him, politely of course, to "SHUT THE FUCK UP!"

Another part that sticks out to me was how genuinely happy Reznor seemed with the tour. He also seemed amused at a certain black bra that had been thrown on stage.

"Oh yeah, and...*holds up bra*...first bra of the tour!"
