10 from With Teeth...none from The Fragile...

Well, it is the With Teeth tour...

Awesome concert. Some Highlights: Aaron jumped into the crowd during MOTP, Alessandro on guitar during Getting Smaller was very cool, especially since that isn't one of my favorites and it definitely made me more into it, Aaron stabbing his amp with his guitar at the end of Head Like a Hole and Josh just watching him and laughing, the drunk dude telling me he was going to jump over my head and ejaculate as soon as Trent took the stage (or maybe that's a lowlight?).

But yeah, amazing concert. Possibly my favorite time seeing them.

This was every fucking bit as good as Lexington, NIN was on fire two nights in a row. Anyway, like with the last thread, I'm gonna have to save my impressions for later (stupid fucking tests in my way.)
Talk about freezing to death....That sucked major balls...
There should be more control in the line situation. Saying that there was cutting in line is an understatement. Not to mention no spiral benefits for three shows in a row. Not complaining tho-THE SHOW ROCKED!!!
I got to hear a few songs that I hadn't heard yet and the sound was great
(except for the vocals cutting out on Moving Units, although I think some might have thought it a blessing).
NIN puts on such a solid show, don't they?
Just one question: Why was the Cinci crowd so docile?
Every bit as good (If not better) as the San Diego Fragility concert that was my last NIN concert to attend.
*
Sound was excellent, Stage concept and Graphics were very good.
*
The Setlist was very effective in blending in old NIN "standards" with Trent's new work from With Teeth. My favorite tune was "Eraser"
*
Crowd participation was very good and many times the crowd's singing along with lyrics could often be heard above the Band and and PA System.
*
Good Value for the Buck.
*
My 2 cents worth from an older (51) NIN Fan.
R/ Joe_Huser.
I thought the show was awesome, the floor crowd couldve/shouldve been a lot more wild, but im a clevelander myself maybe we just have differant standards.

The band also seemed really into the show, never a dull moment, I give it a 10

PS. Anyone know who the opening band was? Ive been looking around and cant find it anywhere, I could just be stupid tho

Moving Units.
Fucking Amazing Show. The crowd was NOT docile, I really don't understand the mentality that simply because people aren't causing bodily harm to one another, they are docile or "suck". Not every crowd feels the need to mosh, and that doesn't indicate the amount of enthusiasm. Jeez.

Anyhow, I was ecstatic to hear "Burn" and "Dead Souls". Trent really kicked my ass with those two surprises. I didn't check any other tour setlists, so when I heard them I was really happy. I always wanted to hear "The Perfect Drug", but beggars can't be choosers.

Aside from the morons behind me (section 130, row q, you know who you are) who felt the need to TALK the entire time the show was fantastic. the visuals were great, with a current political slant which was nice to see, especially since some of the older lyrics are more pertinent now than ever. Trent was in fine vocal form, with no missed noted that I heard. Like griz said, Aaron was on fire, very entertaining.

The "Closer" setup was superb, with Trent on a pedistal for the opening of the song.

I gotta get to bed. Here's a few crappy cell phone photos.

Oh yeah, when Aaron threw his guitar into the crowd and everyone went berserk trying to be the one who ended up with it, I went nuts.
having been to lexington the night before, the cincy show was really good, especially hearing things like getting smaller and with teeth.

but i will say this: trents voice was definitely off in cincy. i heard him crack at one point and in lexington he sounded flawless.

overall, not as intense as lexington, but still fucking intense.
Darken wrote: The crowd was NOT docile, I really don't understand the mentality that simply because people aren't causing bodily harm to one another, they are docile or "suck".
Honestly, there is a huge difference between causing bodily harm and simply standing there, which is what most of the people on the floor were doing. That kind of lack of enthusiasm can really kill the show.
Thank God it didn't. Thank Trent, too.....
....oh, and Trent wasn't very talkative was he.....
this show was fucking awexome! isaw them in ft wayne on thursday and both shows rocked. i was on the floor about ten feet from the stage and the crowd definetly wasn't docile
great show. i agree with all the above. toward the end (Jeordie?) threw a water bottle into the crowd. the lights hit it intently and light up like a bolt of lightning. what i'm saying is you couldn't miss it. a circle of people opened for it's landing spot . . . except for one girl who wasn't paying any attention. hit her right in the face. i heard on the way out that she was actually bleeding. does anybody know any more on that?
great show.

anybody else get pictures??? there was ton of camera's out last night...

"dead souls" was the biggest shocker of the night.
Yeah, I totally saw that girl get nailed in with the water bottle. I'm pretty sure everyone on the stage-right side of the auditorium saw the bottle careen through the air and impact her face. As I remember she was kind of looking off in a different direction and turned her head toward the stage at just the wrong moment. Definitely bad luck. Hope she's alright...

Also, there were big burly security guards breaking up mosh pits and stuff on the floor during the whole show. That may have something to do with energy level of the floor crowd. US Bank arena is still pretty sensitive about that stuff. In my experience, they weren't allowing standing floor crowds at concerts (Tool a year or two ago comes to mind). There were only a bunch of fold-up chairs neatly arranged in rows. Needless to say, the NIN concert last night had about 100x better energy, so I can't complain. Plus the guitarist jumped into the crowd, that was totally awesome.

The performance was as incredible as usual. One or two less songs from With Teeth would have been nice, but what can you do? Also, something with more energy than Love is Not Enough would have been better to begin with, in my opinion. But my favorite of the show were truly amazing. Gave Up, Eraser (AWESOME), Beside You in Time and Dead Souls stood out. Good evening, great show!
The show in Cinci was incredible. I was disappointed there weren't any songs from the Fragile though. Closer and Eraser were my favorites. The lighting was amazing too
I want to know what Aaron and Alessandro's little on-going "inside joke" was about. They were in cahoots a number of times last night. Homos.
Master Traveler
Did anyone actually get the guitar Aaron threw into the crowd at the end? I saw secruity try to get a hold of it.....
WhERE THE FUCK IS SOMEWHAT DAMAGED ?

and where in the hell is HAPPINESS IN SLAVERY and DOWN IN IT ??? IM GETTING SICK OF SEEING SUCK AND GAVE UP(especially gave up) in every fucking set list since last year ? why is TR ignoring such great songs like great below, somewhat damaged, sunspots, happiness in slavery and down in it all the time ? WTF !

The whole reason Cinci hasn't allowed floor standing id because of the Who concert a while back, where the stampede and chained doors lead to a number of deaths. Theyre finally coming around, but I believe theyre still wary.
aaron's guitar didn't make it into the crowd the security in front of the stage got it
does anyone know what guitar aaron was playing? i was too far to see it.

...which guitar? I think it was a Tele during HLAH.

I saw that happen too, from beginning to end from where I was sitting. Even in the slight darkness, I could make out the trail of the bottle then smacking her right in the face.
In all of my experance I have never seen so many hot chicks at one show, Cinncy has beautiful women!!! I wish I could have fucked one

Aaron's guitar totally made it into the audience. My friend ended up getting it, Rob took some pictures, and security wouldn't let us leave til the place was mostly cleared out because they were afraid we'd get jumped. Thankfully we made it to the car with no one giving us a hard time. Actually everyone was really cool and wanted to touch it or take a picture of it haha. It was in good shape except for the very top which Aaron cracked off in the amp. I'm sure my friend didn't sleep at all last night haha.
damn, breaking up a harmless friendly mosh pit?
What the hell is the world coming to. Sure, the really violent moshers should be barred, but the is such a thing as having a good old fashioned circle pit or something. More than the front row should have at least been a bit livlier.
No Fragile songs at Cinci, but thank God we got some at Fort Wayne....
Bricklayer
yesterday was the earliest we had gotten to a show, which was 9am. we thought we were going to be pretty hardcore till we saw camp spiral across the street from the venue. at any rate, it was a nice experience sitting out there, chatting with different people...that is until the wrath of alaska was unleashed, the sunlight dimmed, and the frigid air moved in...and as someone else mentioned, getting moved to the wind tunnel for the last 30 minutes.

at any rate, we got go rail spots right in between trent and aaron. i was looking forward to one of the new setlists they've been playing, but still was not disappointed about what we got to see. i dont really have an opinion on the moving units, just because i'm not necessarily into that type/genre of music. i did see their many technical foul ups and felt sorry for them.

other than some neanderthal, tribal armband tattooed, frat boy being a male chauvinist pig, and telling the girls that they "didnt belong on the rail" and "this is a mosh pit, not a cheerleader tryout." yeah, that punk bitch didnt have anything to say when a grown boy like myself talked shit to him, and told him not to disrespect females in that manner...yeah but other than that guy ruining everyday is exactly the same, it was a great show. i enjoyed aaron's antics, as he is always on point with the energy and charisma.

i obtained a setlist and scanned it for a better look. its about 1mb file...

Are the backing vocals on EDIETS on a backing track? Because I always wondered how the hell they would pull it off since aaron and jeordie can't really sing for shit, and when I listened to that live version just then, it sounded like reznors voice dubbed over his live singing...can anyone shed any light?

Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that. I care desperately about what I do. I definitely saw Jeordie singing backing vocals in the chorus to Every Day Is Exactly The Same. I think Alessandro might have been as well... and I couldn't see Aaron very well from where I was.

But yeah, group effort as far as I could tell.

I've only been to two NIN shows. Last night was my second-- my first was Chicago last year. Had to fork over $200 on ebay because the tickets sold out for that one.

I chose to get seat tickets for the Cincy show because at the Chicago show I was on the floor and got pretty beat up. The energy at -that- show was amazing. The show last night.. was lackluster-- at least, where the fans were considered. Really, I was sitting way up near the top, and had a pretty good view of everyone. And nobody was reacting. The people on the floor were just standing there. I don't expect a full out mosh pit, but barely anyone was jumping up and down or even swaying.

I thought the show itself was awesome. I'm so glad they played Right Where It Belongs, and thought the choice to follow with Beside You In Time was wonderful, as it gave the audience a chance to recuperate from such an emotional song. Also, I can't remember which song it was, but when he slammed into the tarp with the mic stand and the image shattered, that was an awesome image.

Visuals were great. Songlist was okay, but I would have preferred less With Teeth. Audience definantly should have kicked it up a notch.

Oh awesome you've seen zoolander. Funny stuff. Twat.
I really don't understand everyone saying that the audience was lackluster and didn't react...then again, maybe it was just where I was. The crowd in front of Aaron was fuckin' nuts the whole time. Maybe it was the only place on the floor that was like that, but it was crazy the whole show. Speaking of the show, I have mixed feelings. The performance was great and it was nice to hear Dead Souls, Getting Smaller, SICNH and Know What You Are. But where the hell was The Fragile? Not one song from the album and the fact that they haven't been to Cincy since PHM tour, you would think they would play songs from every album. It's hard to complain about that but still.

I will say that there were about double the people at teh Cincy show than the Lexington show. I was surprised to see that many people come out for the show.
sophielynn wrote:Also, I can't remember which song it was, but when he slammed into the tarp with the mic stand and the image shattered, that was an awesome image.
That was Beside You in Time. You can actually see it pretty good in the video Clocksrun posted. (Thanks for those, btw! The stage dive video is perfect.)
Gosh, this is going to sound so silly... My boyfriend and I thought the show Saturday was fantastic! But today a bunch of kids at my school were saying that Trent Reznor wasn't there, and it was some other guy. And that might sound like the dumbest rumor ever, but we were sitting pretty far back and it could have been anyone up there... Someone please please please put my fears to rest! I know this is stupid but I just need some reassurance!!!
Bricklayer
I'll be honest, for the first few song I kept looking around thinking "Where's Trent? Where's Trent?" Granted, I was up in the nosebleed section, but I really didn't recognize him, like he'd done something different to his hair or gained weight or something. But I can't see it being a stand-in and the crowd down front not rioting or something..
Master of the Ninth Arch
He shaved his head, people. You been hiding under a rock for the past 6 months?

Yes, Trent was there.
yes I would have to agree that fucking insane that someone could even dream that up.... the show fuckin rocked-- I was on the floor in the front 5 rows pretty much the hole fukin show and we were'nt fucking just standing there... During "Dead Souls" I was surrounded by about 4 girlz and felt like I was in a sexual frenzy---the mushrooms didn't have anything to do with it..... Went to the nashville & cleveland show this year and this one was just as fuckin good.... no fragile though, that really hurt
Master of the Ninth Arch
Fabulous energy. Fabulous performance. If that is going on every night, no wonder the poor man got sick. I am still a bit bitchy because The Fragile was totally stripped from the setlist. C'mon, some of us in Cincinnati appreciated The Fragile. A lot... But not to worry, I'd still spend the money to see them again, knowing the setlist beforehand. This made #3 for me. Hopefully, #4 will be sooner than the time between 2 and 3. (1994 - 2006... that was one long wait.)
Master of the Ninth Arch
This is going to sound really lame but here goes...

I seem to have lost my ticketstub from the show. I've been collecting ticketstubs from all the shows that I go to and have just about every single one from every show Ive been to in the last 5 years. If anyone has a ticketstub that they would part with PM me. I can paypal a few bux to who ever has one.

Well, this made my third NIN concert and I can assure anyone that the last two (for this tour) that I went to had much more energy from Trent than when I first saw them for the fragile tour. It's good to see him that way, even though I thought he did have more "one on one" time with the crowd in St.Louis, but still it's all good. I was just happy to be there.
