This just in: Aaron injured his head sometime during the show (cracked head, I believe Trent said) and was bleeding throughout the concert.

Great show and set. Many thanks to brokensoul for the last minute ticket. It was much apppreciated. I'll post more tomorrow, since I am sending this from a phone and am ready to get some sleep.

Aaron did crack his head. No biggie. He looked a bit dazed, but overall fine. Just looked bloody, thats all. Nothing too serious in nature.

Setlist was the best of this tour, IMO. Bunch of randomness.

The firemen came inbetween saul and nin because the smoke machine set off the fire alarm. Trent was not happy about that. There were literally firemen in full attire between sets walking around and taking up time. But all was fixed, and the show was excellent.

Josh Freese is a noticeable difference. Very much so. So much better.

More tomorrow. Sleep now.

...Quite similar to the Jersey set Saturday night. Anyone else wish they'd mix it up a little bit better? I know they play the songs with passion each night, but there's just so many good NIN songs it seems like with a bit more effort they could really make people feel like they witnessed a one-of-a-kind show...

Well WOWIE. That was the best concert I've ever been two, and mi dosa compadres agree. The set was awesome, tons of b-sides (DEAD SOULS!!) and lots of Broken (almost the whole CD it seems).

The crowd was awesome tonight! I just wanna say if anyone there was outside shortly before the doors opened, and noticed the three weird guys looking for tickets all night, that was us - thanks a LOT to those who helped, and managed to get us in! Tres stupendo!

Crowd was also real nice inside. Lots of good moshers (IE no fists and lots of helping hands, lots of just jumping around and feelin the music), and can you believe the size of that place? I literally just walked into GA area once entering from the mezanine side, and was no more than 40 feet from the stage. Fire hazard stuff sucked, but oh well..

Very very glad I got to see NIN for the first time at this show. What a show it was.

unfuckinbelievable set...didn't even notice the absence of Frail/Wretched.

Saul's set was rather short because his DJ Douchebag couldn't get his electronics to work properly...that, and the fact that the crowd wasn't really into it.

Then came the idiots at House of Blues...or, as Trent so succinctly put it, "The House of Shit." Apparently nobody was prepared for NIN's smoke machines...and, in turn, the smoke set off the *TAH-DAH!* SMOKE ALARMS! This causes the Atlantic City Fire Dept. to show up and examine the ENTIRE FUCKING PLACE!!! On a side note, it was quite amusing when the firefighters took the stage for examination, looked at the crowd and pumped their fists in the air. The audience cheered and laughed. The happiness, however, was quite temporary. We stood and waited for a full 90 minutes after Saul left the stage before Trent and the boys came out. As soon as Mr. Self-Destruct started, however, all was forgotten.

Trent didn't address the mishap until mid to late show and was really funny about it. As he said, "so it goes...the show must go on! LET'S GO!" and then absolutely tore shit up for the remaining 6 songs...

It was during those electric songs that Aaron hit his head...Trent stopped, asked Aaron if he was ok and Aaron said he wasn't sure. After a brief pause, they continued to kick ass into Closer while Aaron remained rather low-key and moody. Then came the kicker when Aaron's guitar wasn't working right...he kept walking off stage, getting a new guitar, walking back on, strummed a bit, walked off stage yelling about his guitar, getting a new one and so on...this happened a good 3 or 4 times. Then, when his axe worked properly, the speaker didn't work. Aaron proceeded to throw a tantrum, kicking over the speaker and stabbing it repeatedly with the head of the guitar, then throwing the guitar and walking off for the rest of the set. The rest of the band played on and were absolutely amazing...and I have to say, GOOD RIDDANCE! I learned tonight that Aaron detracts from songs with his experimentation and silly flailing--the same flailing that caused him to get a boo-boo on his noggin. FUCK HIM!

Other than that nonsense, the set was amazing and Trent progressively caught fire as the night progressed...luckily, the fire department wasn't called again. Josh's controlled-chaos drumming was astounding. Dead Souls into Deep was mind-blowing and tight as hell. And, being the little NIN fanatic that I am, I was ecstatic when I got splashed by Trent's water bottles a couple times...also because it was hot as balls in there and the water was refreshing...so, thanks Trent.

The Spiral entrance, though slightly disorganized, was rather quick and definitely made me happy that I joined. I walked past the line of people waiting outside in the cold, right up the escalator, flashed my NIN Spiral Card and in we went. Getting into a concert doesn't get better than that, in my eyes.

Despite the minor setbacks, the night was incredible and electrifying.

PS: Moshing in a tiny venue like that was a little ridiculous, but not as ridiculous as crowd-surfing in such a place. I saw at least a dozen people go up, get tossed across 4 or 5 people and then end up in the arms of security. Way to waste your 50 bucks, idiots...unless you did it during HLAH, in which you got an easy exit that even Spiral Members aren't alotted.

Has Home been played live at all since last june? I don't think soo.. That song is amazing. Glad to see it back.

Deep is a funny song.


I'm also gonna mention Aarons guitar troubles. He didn't play thtf, did starfuckers but for whatever reason in th middle trent looked at josh and they went ointo don't you don't you don't you without doing all the pain.. Quite weird.. Then his guitar didn't work in hlah so he just walked offstage at the begininng.

I think Aaron actually hurt his hand and not his head despite what was said on stage. He might have hurt both actually. I definitly know that at one point, about 3 songs into their set, he came off stage screaming about his finger. He came off another 2 times to stop bleeding to his hand. There apparently was blood at some points and then his tour manager wanted him to go get x rays.

And as to the house of blues...great venue, but why in the hell would u put it in the showboat...??? no damn sense...if anyone cared, i know for a fact hob does not control the alarms that were set off last nite, which sucked...yea

Can I just say that the experience of having NIN play at a Casino makes for one kick-ass Saturday. I can't remember having so much fun since I graduated college.

All in all, it was a perfect day. I made 300 bucks playing blackjack, got totally wasted on Belvedere and Tonics (for free), was able to smoke ANYWHERE in the building with no hastle, and saw one of the most interesting NIN performances you will ever witness.......

My GF and I walked in the doors to the concert hall at around 730. We went right up to our balcony seat, only to find out that the stage was COMPLETELY obstructed. These were literally THE WORST SEATS YOU COULD HAVE. But luckily nobody was really up there yet, so we were able to secure PERFECT standing room "chairs" right by the bar (stage left). We weren't as close to the stage as most people, but had a perfect view of everything (and a place to set our drinks down).

I felt bad for Saul. His set was REALLY short and nobody seemed to care. It was great though; very passionate..... But then came the waiting. I won't even get into that. Once the place starting filling up too, the line to the bar became unbearable......

Now for the main event. Might I just make the following comments, because everything was such a beautiful blur (and mess):

1. The band came out PISSED OFF and on-fire. I have NEVER seen such an incredible string of 4 songs to start off.
2. Mr. Self Destruct IMO is definitely the best NIN opener (besides maybe Somewhat Damaged which they would never do).
3. You Know What You Are was totally NAILED by Josh. That man is a fucking god!
4. Terrible Lie (as cliche as it has become) was the night's best performance. At the end when Trent flung the mic stand directly into the ground and everyone threw their instruments...CLASSIC.
5. The lighting in such a small venue had a drug-like effect on me. Unreal.....it felt like Salvia Divanorum for little bursts of time.
6. Once Aaron smashed his head open during "March" though, I thought the show lost A LOT of momentum....
7. Speaking of which, Aaron really was a moody mother fucker the rest of the night. He couldn't get his fucking Hagstroms to stay in tune, and his pedals/cabinet kept shorting out (probaly because he kept smashing them)....speaking of which, did he switch to a JAGUAR during TDTWWA? His lead guitar part before the verse of that song WAS TOTALLY off key...and he knew it.
8. ALthough DEEP does make me laugh (probably because I am classically conditioned to think of the video), it was TIGHT last night.
9. It was nice to hear all the songs that I missed on the fall tour......Sin, Deep, Home, TDTWWA, Starfuckers (which kind of sucked actually).
10. EDIETS doesn't sound too good live.
11. Jeordie couldn't stop thinking about those Atlantic City strippers and black jack tables the entire night....I could just tell by the look in his eye.
12. Aaron did not perform Head Like a Hole with the band. I would bet money that Trent YELLED at him after the show. He acted like a whiney little twat.

Overall though...I can't complain. The night was superb and it makes me sad to think that it could be the last time I will see NIN for quite a while.

Rob Sheridan said that he cracked his head open. He bitched someone out on the Spiral board for calling Aaron a pussy.

actually aaron took off to the hospital...im sure trent ripped him a knew later...i know all this cuz i was backstage the entire night...so dont try and question me either, and it was his hand dammit...

VERY unique setlist.

no room for a projector screen, so... Eraser was played "straight-up" with no images.

March 23rd will be ONE year since NIN began touring again. Last night marked my EIGHTH show.

The boys never fail to bring a high quality and emotional performance with them EACH AND EVERY NIGHT. For that I am forever grateful. It is one of an uncountable number of reasons why NIN remains the greatest band ever, 16 Years Later!!


Trent was in very good mood on Saturday night (open for debate whether a good mood = better show than bad mood) He even delivered a little stand-up comedy. ""We have a SMOKE machine.....WOW, who would've thought that smoke would set off a FIRE-alarm? Amazing!""

The "destruction" was keep to a minium tonight, perhaps the 8 hour trip from Amherst wore everybody down a bit.

Yes, Aaron busted his cabbage, but he keep on playing and sounds great.

For all you Tour Journal experts, it's probably worth noting that the one band member that damaged an instrument during HLAH was JEORDIE!! He gave his bass a decent toss into the air, I was impressed! :)

Good crowd, good show....GREAT time to be a NIN fan! Thanks again guys!

It seemed quite different from the last Philly show (only other one I have been to), and I heard a lot I hadn't hard before. I just went and did a comparison and there were 9 songs played that weren't played in that show. The other 15 were the same, some in the same order as well. All in all I was happy to have the differences we did, especially with some of the complaints in threads about ESIETS (Every Show is Exactly the Same).

Actually they played a whopping 15 songs from Amherst the next night in Jersey to call the setlists "completely different" I think is just a tad inaccurate.

I think as far as the venue goes, they were pretty shitty. I don't think they normally get shows like that, and it showed. I'm sure the people going to see earth with and fire tonight won't be corralled into little sections like cattle and treated as such.

After a bit of standing outside, they took our line up to wait inside. Which we did. Which was fine. And there was already another short lined formed. And then there was spiral members on the other side. All was fine. On our side, each group was sectioned off by ropes. Four sections. When it was time to go in, they let in all the people who had JUST SHOWED UP go ahead of us. And people started screaming and yelling at the security, cursing him out. I was pretty pissed off, myself. My personal favorite is when a gentleman further back yelled "Shennanigans!" (Classic south park quote.) So that was shitty.Not to mention the fact we weren't allowed to sit down in line. As if we're snorting coke off the casino floor or something.

Then, the whole fire detector incident was the clincher of the night. That was pathetic. We knew it was bad when they sent the dj out like a clown to keep us preoccupied. The guy next to me was like 'You know that can't be good.'

The place is beautiful. And if I wanted to see a good show, then I would definitely see it there. But its just not made for a show like that. As much as I'd like to see every band I know there, its just not formatted right. Trent knew it. Everyone knew it. He fucking hated it, haha.

But it was good to get to see them up close for one more time. And for that it was worth all the bullshit.

(There was a guy in the center of the pit, with a really nice camera. He was taking REALLY good pics, I saw the demo pics on the screen after he took each one. Hopefully he's a member and he gets 'em up here.)

excellent show last night, definitely glad to see this post the next morning. trent was definitely more talkative then any of the other shows ive seen in the last year, cool to hear him rant about the bullshit we had to go through. between the fucking fire alarms going off (VERY poor planning on the part of the h.o.b.) and us waiting for 90 minutes, and aaron's guitar not working, im surprised he didnt have a fit like he did at the electric factory in philly last year. regardless of the insanity last night, it was a hell of a set and performance. im exhausted and sore, just like i should be.

the new photo at nin.com was obviously taken when aaron wasn't onstage. The caption reads "Nine Inch Nails". Funny. Normally they list the names of the people in the photo if it isn't the whole band. I wouldn't read too much into it though.

The setlist was amazing. I was in Amherst too, so these past two days I got to hear so many great songs. Reptile was a highlight for me. (Trent sarcastically introduced it as a love song).

So many crazy things happened before and during the show, that it's hard for me to process it all (not to mention that I slept 5 hours over the course of 2.5 days).

I was on the rail right in front of Jeordie. That proved to be a big mistake, however. I practically missed the first 3 songs because some 10 or so girls where getting pulled out behind me and the security guys were right in front of me. (BTW, those guys were so cool the whole night. Before the start of the show, I told them to be ready for a crazy show, and at the end of the night two of the guys told me I was right and that they were exhausted. They also did a nice job getting us water and looking out for people who couldn't take the pit).

Did Aaron's guitar tech finish playing HLAH from the back side of the stage? It kind of looked like that from my perspective.

Last, I thought Saul's sound was better in Amherst, but he again pulled off a great, albeit short, show.

P.S.: which one of you guys launched Rob up there? hehehe

Okay, one more thing, the Showboat and HOB suck. They could not have been more inept, and I'm not just referring to the fire alarm issue.

EXACTLY.

There were paramedics backstage after the show, you fucking dickheads. It was no small wound as we could see it from the balcony. Also, Aaron didn't appear at the after-show party along with Jeordie, Alessandro and JOSH FREESE, so it wasn't exactly minor.

Josh Freese is da man. Great show, despite ineptitude on the part "House of Shit." Amazing setlist. One of the best shows I've seen on this tour.

I was pretty damn close to you, cause I know exactly who you're talkin about- I was thinkin the same thing- i thought it was like a camcorder he could take vid on but he was snappin some sweet pics.

For a band touring arenas it's not normal when I band varies their setlist. Changing their setlist with 8 completely different songs from one night to the next is a big difference. Also considering there was no silkscreen merrits the right to say completely different setlist. In 2000 on the fragile tour a big step for them was changing the set by up to three parts from one night to the next. Now it's considered nothing changing 7-10 every night?

P.s. Aaron is fucking amazing fuck you haters. He's much better than robin. See: the big comedown.

House of Shit. That cracked me up.
I don't think I could be happier. The show kicked ass. Here's just my take:
--Firstly, I'd like to say a big Fuck You to the HOB guy that came on stage to tell us about the fire department. I understand you had to give us the bad news and that sucks, but I payed a shitload like a lot of us to get there and I don't need you telling me to to go "buy more beer and some T-shirts" after waiting around for fucking ever
--I liked Saul Williams. I kind of felt bad that no one was really into it, but at least the crowd was civilized about it, or from what I could tell
--I didn't really see what happened to Aaron. I saw what looked like a gash and some blood stains on his nice white shirt. He looked out of it for sure, but then again, to me, he always looks a little out of it ("Aaron! Aaron!") Incidentally, I didn't see much--I was behind what seemed like the tallest assembly of people I've ever seen (and I'm 5'4", it was a challenge) The group dispersed soon after, but wow some of you are really tall!
--Trent was pretty chatty, it was cool. He went on a little rant about the fucking venue and but how it was still fun to play in a place where you could actually see people. He later said something about feeling bad about bitching, but then amended that by saying something like "but I'm going to bitch anyway" ( I don't know, I kinda didn't hear that too well) and the crowd went nuts. He looked in good spirits. I caught him smiling a couple times. You could tell he was still getting over something though. He started to cough during the rests in the first 2 songs or so, but he tried to be a discrete as he could about it. That got me kind of worried, but it didn't happen again and he really kicked ass, what a pro
--I thought the crowd was awesome, at least my section was--totally into it but not belligerent for the most part. I'd like to thank the couple of guys who looked out for me a bit as I went completely bizzerk (Aaron's side, right where the balcony starts) You didn't have to do that and it was appreciated
--They were tight as hell. Deep really does sound a shitload better live. I really enjoyed that song--but all I could really hear in my head was him saying "I'm going to go make a withdrawal"...kinda cracked me up. Mr. Self Destruct was a highlight I'm so glad they played it. I don't know what else to say other than I was blown away. I haven't been to too many shows, but this was by far the best--A big thank you to Trent and the boys

Atlantic City, aka the most depressing place on earth or the rectum of NJ (and that's not saying much for Jersey, anyway). The most disgusting place, I hope I never have to go there again.

For me I think this was the most absurd show because that venue is TINY and I was second from the rail for the first time so the intimacy of it was very disorienting, but totally wonderful nonetheless.

I definitely enjoyed the mellow interlude of Eraser/Home/TDTWWA consideirng we weren't getting projections. I would have liked to have fog or a curtian for MSD but it was nuts when Trent just came running on stage headbanging like nuts for that one. Reptile was ON, third time seeing it and it was definitely the best performance of it. Deep was such a treat those visuals were sick, and EDIETS impressed me a shitload. That song was riveting live and I enjoyed the Fragile-like visuals for that one.

The only drawback aside from the fire alarm shit was in the beginnign during YKWYA and Sin when security guards were pulling bitches out like clockwork. That was just mildly irritating, I mean if you can't handle the fire don't step into the furnace. Obviously there are gonna be a few people who can't take it but there were SOOOOO many gettin' pulled out.

All and all, a great show, different from the arenas I went to. A less "larger than life" feel, but totally intimate and unreal to be that up close. Excellent.

I can deal with the annoying people confessing their love for Trent during SICNH and Hurt, even though hes heard all those lines before. However, I cannot deal with people who purchase general admission tickets, obtain a spot on the general admission floor and then seem to be pissed because they don't have a reserved seat. If you're anywhere in front of the soundboard you may feel some slight pressure on you from the surrounding fans.
I'm a small guy and I am not an asshole. I don't throw fists and I'm not a big fan of "moshing" in general. But I can hold my own and at the first sign of a floor getting too rough, I leave. Whether its with the help of security guards and not.
What I don't do is throw a fucking temper-tantrum during the goddamn set and bitch and moan. I also don't bite people like the aforementioned whore.
Sorry people but that has been bugging me for the past 12 hours.

I just want to say a big FUCK YOU to those two asshole faggot motherfuckers in front of me who ruined the song "Deep." Ive waited all of my life (well ever since I was 10) to hear that song live and this was my first change. It was the entire reason I got into NIN when I saw that movie Tomb Raider. Well thanks a lot assholes, as soon as the song started that half-Chinky looking motherfucker started dry humping that big Italian dude and then he started making out with the little Mexican girl next to him and meawhile the other Latina girl was totally gteting felt up by this gross older guy. I mean much older, like he was someones dad or something. Anyway you fuckers ruined Deep for me. Your lucky I didn't come kick you're asses.

But to make matters worse, you killed "Hurt" when those stupid bitchez in front of you asked you to find their camera or whatever. My friend and I were front row, all the way to the left of the stage. And I mean, ALL the way to the left. My view was basically SpeakerSpeakerSpeaker, Trent and Aaron, with the occassional Jeordie (occassional as is in, I think I saw him 3 times). As others have said lots of "bitches" were pulled out of the crowd--lots and lots. There were a few crowd surfers who came out too, but from the looks of those girls who got pulled out, it was hot as hell in the middle of that crowd; not to mention many of them came out limping. So, you know, try to have a little sympathy. Or something.

Being on the far left actually became quite an advantage. I never had to worry about getting kicked in the head by all the people being pulled out and it was actually pretty roomy. Of course there were plenty of people who got on my nerves, but we're all there to see a show and I'm not going to waste my time letting silly antics get in the way of me having a damn good time. Just learn to ignore shit and focus on the band. Jesus H.

And yes, the spiral thing was a little messy, but what's-her-name does a really good job and she puts up with a lot of bullshit from some of you guys. Cut her a break. Everything worked out in the end. Hell, I was pretty close to the back of that line (I went from middle, back, middle and then to the back again, without ever once complaining) and I still got a decent spot. If I were willing to be IN the crowd, I could have had a great spot right in the center if I wanted, but I prefer rail so I was willing to take a minor loss; I'm 5'1" so having no one in front of me (minus the security guys) is best. Oh and those of you who mentioned how cool those security guys were, you were right--great group of guys, very friendly.

I don't know when Aaron busted his head open or whatever, but I did see blood on his face, shirt, etc. And as has been said, he was kind of out of it for a while. I cheer his efforts though, man--those guys had to have been exhausted to begin with. Screw you guys who are picking on him. I hope he's okay (especially by Tuesday).

Despite the lyric mishaps, guitar issues, blah blah blah, it was a great show. I don't care about crap like that. Those guys rock their asses off. Mistakes happen. That was the most talkative I'd ever seen Trent, so that was nice. I had heard "Dead Souls" last year in Philly and was so glad they played it again. I was hoping they would throw us some differences in their "typical sets" since it was a small venue and we didn't get the curtain thing. At one point Trent even called it a weird set, too. I was very pleased.

This was my first NIN show (they're one of those mid90s bands I liked but never seemed to get around to seeing them tour). It was pretty fancy. I don't know how often they play Dead Souls, but that was probably the highlight of the night for me. I love Joy Division, so seeing a good cover by a band I like made the trip into Jersey worth it.

I just wanted to see if anyone standing on the bassist's side of the stage, about three/four people in noticed the incredibly creepy couple who were essentially dry humping each other the entire show long. The lady in question was wearing lacy black everything. They really should have charged for the show they were putting on, because it was downright distracting.

The setlist was amazing. Some thing really disturbed me though. As HLAH ended I saw this blonde girl looking like she was having a seizure pulled out from the crowd by security. Soon after paramedics came in and I saw her getting carried out shaking and with vomit all over her face. Security was freaking out. I really hope she's alright and seeing that has really affected me.

I managed to stay in the front for 10 songs but I wasn't really fully enjoying the show due to the fact I was being squeezed to death, so I figured I would go get some water and enjoy the show from the sidelines. It was a really amazing night and everything feels like a dream for some reason.

And how exactly do you know this? For all anyone knows, he could have a concussion. And I think his onstage 'theatrics' actually add some energy to the show. Rather that than some douchebag just standing there, motionless.

the few times he walked off was because his guitar and shit weren't working.. i'd be pissed too if i was trying to play and there was no sound or the sound of just feedback...

just seemed like it wasn't his night, he had a reaction like trent would have...... something fucks up, throw it, get it fixed... whats he supposed to do? throw it and stand there while the techs figure it out?.. he walked off and came back a few times... then finally after too many fuck ups he decided to say fuck it during head like a hole...

just download the video i put up on demonoid... you can see and hear his guitar fucking up during the hand that feeds and head like a hole... and he gave it a few chances during the hand that feeds

Apparently you guys like to just make shit up.

My friend Bill told me he saw Aaron get whacked with a mic stand. This was just before I look to see Aaron run full bore into his amp-of-abuse during the second song, which was a little unusual, and then he drops his guitar and disappears off stage.

He didn't crack his head open from twirling his guitar. His head was split open and bleeding all over the place from song two on. Nonetheless, he'd come back on stage on cue every time his parts came up.

That was by far and large the coolest setlist I have come to witness. The show seemed to go on forever, as opposed to the show seeming to end too early.

Josh Freese did not fuck up Starfuckers. Trent gave Aaron and Josh the signal to wrap it up instead of playing the interlude, probably because the show was running late, and because Aaron was BLEEDING FROM HIS HEAD.

I have seen every NIN drummer with the exceptions of Jeff Ward and Martin Atkins, and Josh Freese is the fucking best drummer to join the lineup EVER. Holy shit. Way to make me feel like a fanboy again.

It was also very cool to see a bunch of my ETS buddies again, despite the clusterfuck of getting them all to the HOB on time :b

Fucking great show. The energy was incredible. I love small venues. I was in the balcony, center stage, four rows back. Fucking awesome seats. I really can't add to what everyone has said here. Trent's little tirade about the House of Shit cracked me up. I figured he couldn't go the whole show without saying something :D. I was psyched about Home and Deep, and Reptile was nuts. That's my favorite NIN song. And Josh fucking Freese is the shit. He is an animal. I love him and man, during YKWYA...holy shit. This was my fourth show on this tour and I think this one was my favorite, even with Aaron's technical problems and the whole firemen thing.

This concert was so goddam good that I intentionally caused my body severe physical distress in celebration of its greatness. The security guards shoved their way ignorantly through the crowd throughout the evening. I didn't get a chance to smoke drugs until late into the show. Then, I did it furtively and half-assed. The band was incredible. Josh Freese's little fills were nice additions. I am quite short and didn't notice that Aaron was injured. I didn't even notice he had left the stage and I was about 30 feet from the stage on Jeordie's side. I cannot wait to see this video. Any word on the quality???

I still can't get over how good Saul was. I also still can't get over how good Mr. Selfdestruct was live. As soon as I saw the 4 Mic stands on the stage I KNEW they would open with that, made the wait so much more excruciating.

For all you fuckers bitching about Aaron this, Pussy that, after he busted his head he TRIED HIS ASS OFF to keep playing when he CLEARLY needed medical attention... Why don't you try having the pressure of being a musician for trent in a live performance on top of busting your fucking skull open and your guitars not working, on top of any other concussuion or anything else he might have that you CLEARLY can't identify from being in the crowd... Loved the show. Totally can't wait for the next album again and I hope he keeps touring and touring!! (I'll be going and going).

I was in the back... I am a big dancer so I need some space with my music. But this venue is great because in the back even the view excels. For some reason it just seemed like Trent was having a good time tonight despite flaws. Nice to see.

Was there an afterparty? I was wondering what those boys would do... party or gamble.

Poor Aaron. I'm happy he tried as much as he did.

I can't really say anymore about the crappiness of the venue that hasn't been said already, however the crowd tonight was pretty much amazing. I personally don't like Saul Williams, but I think he did a great job in front of a crowd of people whom most don't listen to that type of music. I had a lot of respect for him, and was happy to see that MOSTLY everyone was treating him with respect.

Oh, i would also like to thank the guy who looked out for me and my friend for a little bit when things were getting really rough. I fell twice and was at the very bottom of the pile both times, and i hafta say everyone was there for you helping you up. The crowd really was great, no punchers, and all helping hands. Thank you everyone for not really ruining the show like some hardcore fan idiots.

As far as the set goes, Something I Can Never have really hit me the hardest during this night, best I've seen them perform it. EDIETS was very cool live, and Reptile was phenomenal as always. Dead Souls and Deep were a VERY nice treat...and i agree that Deep is very much better live.

Thanks again to the crowd, and thanks to Nine Inch Nails for making this one of the most memorable performances by anyone that i've ever seen.

I still love that venue. Yeah, the smoke detector thing TOTALLY sucked, but it's a really new venue (I think they opened last October) and to be honest, that could just as easily be a NIN techie's fault... they haven't played many venues this size. It's most likely an err on both parts or a simple miscommunication. But on the whole, the beers are reasonable and it's a great view from almost everywhere in there, not to mention nice accoustics and some nice funky scenery. And they had tasty food right in the venue, to boot, which is nice when you're rushed to get in.

As for the people who got in line while others were waiting, HOB has a policy if you eat there you can skip the line. It's not a secret (I even think I brough it up in the AC thread to Upcoming Shows) and the food in their restaurant is outstanding. And it wasn't a whole bunch of people... just, perhaps, annoying timing.

I loved the Show. I LOVE NIN, and this intimacy really brought all my crushes back on again (that thing where I think I see them all everywhere I look... yummy).

I am sorry some of the line-keepers/security seem to have been dicks to some of you. That sucks, but I find to be quite often unfortunately.

I had an amazing time at the show, though. And I hope they do come back to HOB sometime... with the kinks worked out this time. So I can explode in jumping screaming excitement for two hours all over again feeling like I'm just a stone's throw away.

I was at the show also on Saturday night, and I came across this place as I was searching for pictures from the show.

Anyway, my boyfriend and I saw HIM at the HOB in November. It was my first time at the venue, and I loved the place. We had balcony tickets for that show - or at least that's what I purchased through Ticketmaster, but when we tried to go up to the balcony halfway through HIM's set, they wouldn't let us go up since our tickets said GA on them anyway.

I found out about NIN playing there through the venue's newsletter, so I was completly psyched. NIN is one of my all-time favorite bands, and after seeing them in an arena in 2000, I needed to get tickets to see them in such a small place. Of course, after getting to Ticketmaster 7 minutes after the tickets went on sale, they were sold out; but we managed to get some the next day on TM's website. They were balcony tickets, but after experiencing the HIM show, we were fairly confident that we wouldn't have to go to the balcony. -- Even though the NIN show had separate entrances for the balcony and floor (unlike the HIM show), we did get to stay on the floor.

Anyway, we were pretty close, over to Aaron's side of the stage. Everyone keeps mentioning his head wound, and I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone mention seeing it earlier in the show really. While I wasn't paying that much attention to him, I do recall seeing the blood on his forehead for the majority of the show. I did notice his lack of enthusiasm really during the show. I don't know if this is just how he is, or if it's due to the injury.

I was a little worried before the show about seeing the new line-up of the band. I was really impressed by how well the "new additions" performed, and having been a Marilyn Manson fan from ~ 94-01, with Twiggy being my favorite member of the band, it was great to see Jeordie taking a little more of a role.

I'm a little upset that I couldn't even try to get any pictures. I had my boyfriend's cell phone in my bag, but due to the close proximity of everyone in the area we were in, I didn't want to try to dig it out during the set. At the HIM show, we used it to snap a couple of shots, but everyone who was taking pictures with their phones was told to put them away, and anyone with a camera pretty much had them taken away. People were thrown out like crazy at that show as well. It's a little unfortunate that they weren't as strict with taking out disruptive people at the NIN show, though. They did a fairly good job though.
2. Mr. Self Destruct IMO is definitely the best NIN opener (besides maybe Somewhat Damaged which they would never do).
They opened with Somewhat Damaged at the show I went to on the Fragility 2.0 tour (5/3/00 in Providence - RI). They played it behind a curtain, but it was great nonetheless - I loved it since it was my favorite song off of The Fragile.
I was wondering what that was all about. I saw two paramedics run by me in front of the rail, then I moved back a bit to take a peek at the line to the merch table, and two more paramedics ran past me, and then out again but they didn't have anyone with them. That's scary shit, I do hope she's okay.
My bf told me someone was having a seizure, and I thought he was kidding at first, due to the lighting at the end of the show. Then people in front of us started pointing -- much like they did earlier in the show when someone was throwing up. If the girl was sober, then I feel bad... but with the amount of people who were wasted in our general area, I wouldn't doubt if she was too, and then I honestly could care less. I don't see the point in wasting the money to see a GREAT band -- and taking another ticket away from someone who really wants to see them and would be able to appreciate it and remember it -- if you're just going to get wasted beyond belief. You could get wasted at home, play the music loud, and have the same experience.


I'm not sure what happened with the lines that everyone is complaining about. We showed up between 7:30 and 8, and got right into line behind about 3 people and got right onto the floor.

Once again, NIN put on an amazing show, and I was glad I got to be so close after being so far away the first time I saw them.

Since I found this place looking for pics from the show, does anyone have any? Also, what's the word on the video that's on demonoid? I'll try again to get an account with the newer invitation codes, but I doubt it'll happen. Does anyway have it that they can share?

The show was fucking great, it was the best one ( out of the 6 that I have been to so far) from the With Teeth tour. Trent was in rare form and Josh is the best drummer NIN has EVER had!!!.

PS. For all the jerks bad mouthing Aaron, it would really be a treat for me to cut the fingers off of both of your hands and toss them into a wood chipper, so I would never again have to read your worthless comments. Aaron was taken to the hospital after the show and no only did he take a blow to the head he also may have broken his middle finger. Yes,the one that he would surely shine in your fucking direction if he read your careless babble. If his finger is broken this could mean more cancelled shows down the pike.
Edited to Add: I now see that Aaron played tonight, so I assume his finger was not broken. All the better to flip stupid people off with!

Though my intention is not to pick a fight with anyone, I would like to point out a few things to the "Aaron Critic" demographic. I'm not sure how many of you are active musicians. Maybe you all are, and when you aren't performing for an hour+ on stage three nights a week or so, you're pretty much on the road. If so, I don't mean to preach to the choir. Though I don't go on tour, I've performed on stage with a "garage band" of sorts a few years ago. We'd do half hour sets to maybe 50 to 100 people. Multiply that a few times, and factor in the hours on the road.

I was barely 20 feet away from Aaron in the crowd for almost the entirety of the show, and though he was far from GUSHING blood, his forehead was noticably split open and there was blood. As the night went on, more and more blood had apparently been wiped onto his right sleeve. My buddy also pointed out how he had played the majority of the show with only one finger; though I hadn't noticed it myself, reading about the reports of his injured middle finger cleared that up.

I was also right there the first time when his guitar, rather than producing the intended sound, made two electric buzzes and the flicked off. He fiddled with his equipment momentarily and realized it was out of his power. Yes, throwing the guitar and kicking his half stack over was unnecessary, you have to imagine at this point of the night he was frustrated. And besides, it's Rock music. By most standards that equipment wreckage was pretty light. Though his equipment seemed to function for another song or two, it soon failed him again. At that point, in the last song, I'm sure he knew the other four could competently and successfully finish without his input, rather than standing on stage looking like a fool, serving as little more than another backup for the "Head Like a Hole" chorus. I think that anyone that may want to criticize his behavior should maybe appreciate that he was devoted enough to do his best to putting on a good performance through the entirety of the set, when he easily could have walked off the stage and ultimately ruined the show for us in attendance.

I think what it comes down to is that people have to stop thinking that the band is a pantheon of deities and realize that they’re normal, completely fallible human beings. So what if Aaron got frustrated when his equipment failed and suffered enough mild nuisances during the night to set him off? Ok, so Trent forgot some lines during “Wish.” The guitars sounded a little flat in “The Day the World Went Away.” The slow bridge was removed from “Starfuckers, Inc.” If anything, seeing mistakes happen makes the band feel much more genuine. That, despite how much we appreciate and adore the band and its music, they’re just people like we are. We’re not shelling out the $50 to see another Milly Vanilly incident, and for that we should be thankful.

Saul Williams was borderline life-changing, for me at least. They way he can just stand there and spew profound truths in a constant flow like that shows that he’s a thousand steps ahead of the rap game (i.e., “Telegram”). I’ve been inspired to pick up his book of poetry when I get the chance.

The atmosphere was great, barring the brutal waiting time, and the mass confusion that the staff was able to convey. My friend and I got tickets through the Spiral and finding our way around was a mess. There were three incidents which I don’t want to get into in which the staff caused us to believe we wouldn’t get tickets. I’m not blaming anyone or anything; it was just a pretty low point to the night.

Being on the ground up close the whole night was great considering it wasn’t like the belligerent, bloodthirsty pits of old. Though this is only my second NIN show (The first was MSG in November) I’ve heard plenty of tales of the pits of the DS days. The best word my friend and I came to describe it was “squeezy.” Though people pushed in and swayed rather powerfully from side to side, it was mostly an attempt to get up front, as close as possible, but no one I encountered was very obnoxious or violent about it. I think some people could have done a better job of letting people out, but that’s their business and not mine. The only downside to being on the floor for me was those that were TOO drunk, to the point in which they were just obnoxious and used everyone else to hold themselves up, disregarding everyone else around them.

As far as presentation, I think that the show really portrayed the whole “Stipped-down Rock” vibe that Trent was going for when he began writing With Teeth. Whereas the MSG show and other large venues showed the grandiose, arena-rock spectacle that NIN can be, with the screens and lighting, this small venue brought it back to earth, making it intimate and more, dare I say, real. Having Josh drumming gave the whole sound more definition, in that it wasn’t just a man transcribing a drum machine part. He gave the drum parts personality, which was new to me (based off of the live DVD that I’ve watched a hundred times and the show this past November). Jeordie spent a notable amount of time with a legitimate bass guitar in his hands, again a change from what I’ve been used to seeing.

I realize I just made this long as hell, so I’ll cut it down. Overall it was the best concert experience, Nine Inch Nails or otherwise. It seemed like Trent was legitimately happy to be there, which he conveyed during his brief diatribe about the other situations beyond his control. I was one of the ones that turned her back at least one of the times. At the time I was not too far in front of the mixing board. She kept elbowing the shit out of me saying she wanted to get to her BF up front because he had her cigarettes and money. I told her he could come back to join her since she had already been thrown out. After her trying to force her way by and failing (I'm small but determined), she finally mumbled something about how I was right, surprising non-angrily, and went back. I didn't spit on her though - the guy behind me did. He was in a spitting mood as she wasn't his only victim. The problem with that was after he spat, then the rest of us had to pray the victim didn't brush past us - ewww.

BTW, acs_tool462 - you ROCK! Your torrent is awesome. How did you get the sound?

it was shot with a sony cybershot dsc-p100

it has a built in mic...
other info.... i used a 2 gb memory stick pro. on its default setting it gave me an hour and 34 of memory to record video...

I attended the show at the House of Shit. While I thought the performance was good, and the show full of energy, the venue location and general bullshit prior to the show pissed me off. I will be looking forward to going to the show at the Tweeter near Phila in June--- Atlantic City truly is the rectum of NJ......by the way i want to say a special FUCK YOU to the short annoying greasy black haired dude with the striped shirt in front of us, your nasty hair got in my friends mouth. other than that, it was great!!

Yes, you must have been waiting by the wrong doors. We had a slumber party and did pedicures and face masks and watched Sixteen Candles and talked about boys! It was super fun. However, Trent totally hogged all the popcorn, not cool. ;p

On a more serious note: awesome show (Home!), poor Aaron deserves a medal for playing with that gash and his fucked up finger, neither of which were caused by his "show boating." I wish the haters would leave him be, he's an incredible player and adds the younger, punk, visceral element that you got from TR circa 1994, and the shit he does before the 2nd verse of Reptile with the feedback is fantastic.

The point about the stripped-down sound/structure in the stripped-down venue is right on. I can't believe a week ago I was staggering away from the rail inspecting my feet for puke. Great night.
