Post your concert reviews here, brah.
Prince Adept
Tiny little stage, no LED screens, weird setlist. The band appears to be, in the words of Jerome Dillon, fucking killing.

The soundcheck set was:
Deep
Please
Home

Then they opened with:

Pinion
Wish
Sin
Terrible Lie

...then the webcam turned off. Then it turned on again as they were playing:

Reptile
Dead Souls
You Know What You Are?
Gave Up

And then there was silence. Closed with:

The Hand That Feeds
Starfuckups, Inc. (Jeordie's bass fucked up, then Trent's lyrics fucked up, then Aaron's middle section fucked up, then the CROWD fucked up, then Josh fucking raced through the last section at twice the goddamned speed of light)
Head Like A Hole - every piece of gear onstage goes to the front row edition
Master ad Vitam
^^^And don't forget the boobs at the end. Actually, they were pretty floppy, so scratch that.

Nah, that's how things roll now behind the drumkit during that particular song. ;)

Yeah that's how Josh Freese rolls sonahh.

The titties [with_skintags] fucked up the whole show for me though.

Nothing special from what I saw of this show.I've been to 46 shows since May of _05_. I don't think any of you missed anything besides the tossing out of instruments to the frontrow, and of course titties [with_nasty_fucked_up_skintags].
Master of the Ninth Arch
I wish I had an extra pair of hands so I could give them titties four thumbs down. Too bad the audience couldn't shut the fuck up for a second or two so we could hear what Aaron and Trent were saying. Oh, well. Maybe someone who was there could decipher it for us.

Anyone else get a kick out of Uncle Jeordie headbanging to Starfuckers?

what the hell are you talking about? i was there and i didn't see any bare breasts.

great show, but way too many spiral members in one place equals clusterfuck.

The show was partly broadcast on the Spiral, that's where we saw the ugly boobs. If you value your eyesight, you didn't miss much.

oh yeah. aaron north leaped from the top of the highest set of speaker stacks and landed on me, maria and her friend.

read it again. i am talking only about your belaboring of this minute detail. there was much more to the show and webcast than that. got anything worthwhile to say?

plus i was actually there, not just looking at my computer.

Rainbow Brite and I thought the show was very awesome, pretty much because it was way out of the ordinary. The setlist was a bit random, but still awesome. I was so close that I was able to wipe of Trent's sweaty goodness. Basically, I stroked him! NO, not that way, unfortunately. But I did lovingly stroke his face :). After being pulled out of the crowd, we chilled 2 feet away from Aaron, between the barrier and the stage...amazing view, and I could breathe finally. Yes, we did see Aaron climb up that 15 foot amp and take a death plunge into the crowd, taking out about 30 people. As security guards tended to the chaos, I took the opportunity to slither on backstage and snatch up the setlist...then, low and behold...I see Jeordie walking towards me. Here is how the conversation went:

me: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen! Jeordie, can you sign this setlist?
Jeordie: Sure, do you have a pen?
me: dammit, no I don't!!
Jeordie: Sorry, I don't either
me: Good job, Jeordie...awesome (as I give him a gay pat on the back)
Jeordie proceeds to smother his girl with kisses
So I frantically run around trying to find a pen, and silly me, I ask the security guard...here's the convo:

me: do you have a pen?!
guard: do you have a pass?
me: do you have a pen?!
guard: get out of here! (he snatches up the pen that i manage to find. dammit)...so close...yet so far....and now I'm scared. So I run away like a little bitch...with the unsigned setlist...still awesome, i might add.

p.s Rainbow Brite apologizes for assing the whole crowd when she was pulled out. Her bad. Opps.

Is anyone else a little confused about when Trent said "This is the part of the show where we start taking requests, don't ask us now though they have already been submitted"... and then continued on with the show only to play the same crop of songs that he normally does.

Also, does anyone know what Aaron said after Trent told him that what he was playing sounding like crap?

This show was sick. The fact that it was so raw makes it stand out. The sound in that venue is also pretty amazing.
Bricklayer
I just want to get the full setlist. I was surprised that they played Home. But it was definitely a welcome one...
Bricklayer
Since I stole the set-list, here it is:

Pinion (4 min)
Wish
Sin
Terrible Lie
March of the Pigs
The Frail/The Wretched
Closer
Mr Self Destruct
Piggy
Burn
Only
Home
Please
Reptile
Dead Souls
You Know What You Are?
Gave Up
Suck
Hurt
Starfuckers, INC
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like A Hole
Master Traveler
first off, an mp3 download of everyone singing PIGGY:
http://slickmode.rage.cz/download/audio ... iggies.mp3

1. show was amazing...much more talking than i've ever heard Trent do at a gig. he commented on how it's cool it was only for spiral folks.

2. he let fans sing in Piggy, Suck, Closer/Only Time lyrics during the breakdown and maybe one more i dunno....

crazy setlist:

Pinion
Wish
Sin
Terrible Lie
March Of The Pigs
Frail/Wretched
Closer/Only Time
Mr. Self Destruct
Piggy
Burn
SPEECH (trent is at a loss for words)
Only
Home
Please
Reptile
Dead Souls
You Know What The Fuck You Fucking Are?
Gave Up
Suck
Hurt
The Hand That Feeds
Starfuckers, INC
Head Like A Hole

Soundcheck listed above is correct but before Deep trent asked for requests, why the fuck they said HOME i have no idea, but...whatever....he also complained about a hotel room and wondering why there was a barricade for this show.
Bricklayer
NIN fans sing just as bad as Jordie and Aaron.
Bricklayer
i got trent's setlist so here how it went
pinion
wish
sin
terrible lie

EarthsLastNight wrote:I just want to get the full setlist. I was surprised that they played Home. But it was definitely a welcome one...
Mr. Self Destruct was on fiyyyyyyyah!!!!!!! so glad to hear that! THANK YOU NIN!!!!!!!!!
Casino Morongo itself was awesome! It was like a mini-Las Vegas in the heart of the Palm Springs desert! I swear when I left the concert EVERY SINGLE SLOT MACHINE was occupied.

Anyway, I was surprised that only 3 With Teeth songs were played (Only, Hand That Feeds, Don't You Know What You Are?). I was kinda hoping they'd go Pink Floyd and play the whole With Teeth album for us fans. Oh well.

They seemed to be rushing to get as many songs in as possible and at one point Trent proclaimed "The hits just keep coming and coming and coming". Funny. He also kept saying how "fun" it was to be playing a little club.

Yes, the rawness of the show was great - especially when Starf*uckers "broke down". It was like watching a band play at practice. They actually talked TO one another on stage. I also saw Trent smiling a lot, so it really DID look like he was having fun.

Extra strict security at that place!!! But everywhere you could stand was like 20 ft from the stage. It was basically one giant mosh pit. Great show, great idea, much thanks to the band for this special once-in-a-lifetime show.
Bricklayer
During Starfuckings, INC. I think Aaron responded to Trent's, "that sounds like shit" with "too much PoPoZao" or something along that line.
Bricklayer
Starfuckers was amazing and is one song I was hoping they'd play since it's not always a guaranteed song, and for us to get an "extended version" as trent said before it started was something really special. All the unique shit that happened during it only added to its greatness imo.

I was able to tape it and watching it again it sounded like Trent said the Popozao line, but not positive.

The energy of the crowd was great and you could tell it was all diehard fans there.

Thanks to Trent Reznor and the guys for putting on the best show I've been to and one I won't soon forget.
Grand Pontiff
I was dissapointed by the show last night. I guess I got my hopes up a little too much. I really thought there would be at least one song that they haven't played since they started touring again.

That club sounded like shit. My ears are still ringing.

The band sounded off on more than one occasion. THTF was horribly flat and lifeless. That was one time I actually enjoyed Starfuckers too. Only because they fucked it up so bad.

That was my first time seeing Mr. Self Destruct. Haven't even listened to a boot of it from this tour. It was different than I expected but fucking awesome nonetheless. Alessandro playing the guitar was badass. I actually caught him smiling at one point too.

They gave out a lot of stuff. Trent threw out his tambourine during the show. Two guitars and a keybord were handed out after the show as well.

Good show all and all, but I was expecting more. Cool experience for the fan club.

Was Trent smashing the mic against his forehead after Sin? or should I have not forgotten to wear my glasses?
Master of the Ninth Arch
In the new picture on NIN.com, it seems like Trent is getting bald. whehehe
Knight of the Royal Axe
i dont know about you guys, but my body hurts.............the floor was nuts last night
Bricklayer
i con-fricken-cur! the good and bad of an all spiral members show was that EVERYONE wanted a piece of the action, all the time and while it rocked balls and everyone was clearly into it, it was such a clusterfuck that i feel like everyone got super tired toward the end, or at least from what i could see. i dont think ive ever been THAT exhausted that quickly at a NIN show...it really got to the point where it was unbelievably painful all the time to be really close, so i followed my friend's actions and got pulled out and just chilled by aaron on that side of the stage...it was unlike any other NIN show ive ever been to! it was fucking great!

oh yeah...and my bad for ass-flashing everyone....woopsie!

i still cant believe aaron jumped off that fucking amp...he jumped right over us....more like flew than jumped really since he was so high up!

also, someone should have requested Somewhat Damaged rather than Home!...not that its not a good song, but Somewhat Damaged rocks ass and would have been unbelievable to see live...
Master of the Ninth Arch
It was a good show and I'm supposed to say that because it's only the 2nd time I've seen them. When I got into the club, I couldn't believe how small the place was. There was some pushing and assholes, but that's what a show is supposed to be I guess. Good times though. It was worth the drive to be able to see them that close. It'll probably my only time to be in GA so I made the most of it by mouthing along to the songs.

Don't fucking share them you moron.

What was the Trent-Aaron convo in the middle of Starfuckers?
Master of the Ninth Arch
For fucks sake guys whats with all the animosity? Eh.

Show was awesome, but no more so than any other. I was a little underwelmed actually. That is my fault I suppose for having high expectations. The set was really long, which was awesome, but short of fragile songs. Blah Blah Blah....

Incidentally, it turns out the casual fans arent the assholes at shows. We still had the fan boy proclaiming his adoration for the Rez during hurt and the drunk assholes singing the wrong words during Piggy. Curious.

It doesnt look like anyone has mentioned the cluster fuck that was the line. Security at the casino were OUTSTANDING assholes which was really out of the ordinary. They are usually tolerable at the other shows I've seen there. They went as far as to not allow us to sit on the floor for the first several hours. Some members had been there all night, and I arrived at 6 am. We werent allowed to sit until after 11am. I would also like to thank the asshole who camped out all night and then let 20 people in line fucking the rest of us. Really fucking cool. Its a shame when people who earned their spot in line get fucked because of inconsiderate herpes infested dick holes.

Im tired and bitchy.

Edit- Trentisinmypants- Did you end up on Barricade? And yeah, Im pretty fucking sore as well.

Yes, Aaron made the "hilarious" K-Fed reference.

This was a fucking outstanding show!

The venue was small, but I was most struck by how tiny the stage was. It was so small that they didn't have most of the regular small show light set-up. It really made the show that much more intimate, though.

Set list was pretty damn perfect -- as Trent said, the hits kept on coming.
Trent also made some corny speech about how great his fans were and how he's never been in a shitty band to know what shitty fans are like... (insert your own joke there). :P

I was on the barricade in front of Aaron with one of my friends. She, (with like 20 other people), unfortunately, ate it when Aaron jumped into the crowd (from a crazy high level). I was sure he was going to land on me too, but totally missed me. When I turned around he had made like a crop circle of fans -- he on top of some, some on top of him. He looked a little dazed and was apologizing and asking people if they were okay. Then we helped him get up and out. (you guys are so right about the short bus)

During Hurt a guy (I'll keep that nugget about who he's friends with to myself) tried to stage dive. The best part was that he couldn't even clear the barricade. Instead, he hit it and fell in front of security. What a douche: (a) don't stage dive during Hurt and (b) if you are going to stage dive, at least make it into the audience.

Saul's bass was severe at this show. I could even feel it in my teeth. Maybe it was because the stage was so small, but it also seemed like he had more of a production for this show (lights, smoke and the like).

(There's probably a lot more I can write, but it's not coming to mind because I am dead tired.)

EDIT: Ha, I just noticed that I'm in the pic of this show posted on nin.com. Weird.
MikeyLiz
I'll start in the morning after the El Paso show because it makes more sense.

jandrox picked me up and we headed to the airport. We get to the gate and we're scanning around trying to find some other fanboys/girls who were heading the same way. Couldn't see any.

Then, just as they announce the pre-boarding, he says, "Hey, that guy looks like Trent. Arghhhh, it is him!" (paraphrased - I was spacing out). So we leap up and run over, and in typical nervous-fanboy-hyper-excited-mode, jandrox taps him on the shoulder and asks for his autograph on his WT CD, and I unrolled my tour litho for the same. Only 1/2 an hour before, I was wondering why the fuck I had bought a litho on the first of my three nights travelling. Now I know why :) My CD cover I'd brought along was in my checked luggage, so it was either the litho of the HATE 1990 shirt I was wearing.

Rob was with him, looking really pissed. I debated whether to ask him to sign the litho (after all, it's his cool design work), but be just looked really pissed so I left him alone. We said something about last night being a great show, and Trent replied something like, "Thanks, I was fighting the flu again".

We went back to sit down while the First class / preboarders got on, and started grinning insanely. I'm too old for this fucking fanboy shit, but it still hit me lol.

So, as we get on the plane we have to stop right in front of TR. An awkward silence that was doomed to be broken by an inane comment ;-)

In Phoenix, we have a 45 minute layover. TR and Rob went to Burger King, we went to the gate. We had plenty of time to get our heads together, and hoped he would be cool for a photo or two, so we went and bought a disposable digital camera. And waited. They turned up 10 minutes before the flight was due to leave. We told them there was a delay, then we asked if we could be pathetic fanboys and get a picture, and got a "Sure" response. Wheee. I think everyone else in the terminal was wondering who the fuck it was.

After that it looked like Trent and Rob went off to kick some ass and maybe get bumped to another flight. jandrox and I went off for a wander.

When we got back, everyone had already boarded - the delay had turned out to be shorter than they had said. So we both rush onto the plane. I get to my seat, and I look up to see Trent sitting in the seat right behind mine (no first class on this small flight). jandrox, I think, was two rows behind. Another weird coincidence to add to the pile.

So I spend the flight reading my newspaper, not bugging Trent and Rob. At Palm Springs, jandrox and I head towards the car rental, and Trent/Rob headed out for a taxi.

OK, that's the OT but interesting for some part over with. To the show...

People had started lining up at 7pm the NIGHT BEFORE. Just when I start to worry about being too freakin' obsessed, I always run into someone who makes me feel, "Oh, well I'm not *that* bad". Went for a beer, said Hi to those I knew in the line, then disappeared until the show started.

jandrox had a VIP ticket, so we split up. I ended up to the left at the front. Rob was setup on the left with a small laptop with a "THE SPIRAL WEBCAM" sticker on it, scanning the crowd and the stage.

Kinda worked my way over to the middle halfway through, ending up next to Doba.

Set list was interesting - lots of fan faves, but I agree with Doba - the mix was pretty shitty, and way to loud - when I left I had a loud ringing in my left ear. Two days later, I still can't hear properly and it still hurts.

At the end, a couple of guitars and a keyboard got passed into the pit - talk about a fucking pirahna pit. I have no idea if anything made it out in one piece.

After the show, I grabbed a ride with Doba, on to Vegas. Pretty uneventful, except for the fucked up drunk chick who bumped us the second we got off the freeway. Welcome to Vegas baby...

Interesting weekend. The Morongo is a beautiful place and easily the best access to food/drink/bathrooms while in the Spiral line that I have ever had. We got to the venue at about 10 am and wandered around a bit before lining up. Apparently my friends and I were the least scary-looking people in line, because all the hotel guests kept stopping by us and asking what was going on.
Anyway, the line was full of fun people (except for all the assholes who cut in line.) And hippygeek came through with a ticket for my friend (Thanks!). I felt really bad for Brandi. She's used to handling less than a hundred Spiralers, and then she had 900 of them all wanting her attention.
When we finally got in we had a spot about 7 rows back, dead center. Saul Williams was fantastic, but as soon as he was done people started crunching together. I looked behind me and my friend was motioning that she felt sick. I yelled at the people next to us to let her through and they were really great about getting her out. After that it was just my sister and me, until my friend calls my cell phone to tell my that she is at security and wants to go to the hospital. Reluctantly I push my way out of the pit and head out to the casino. My sister, bless her heart, knew that I had been dying to see this show. She let me go back into the club while she took my friend Allison to the hospital.
I am never taking that girl to a concert ever again. As my mother put it, "Never take people you have to babysit." But my sister and I are definitely going to Red Rocks. I owe her an amazing concert.
holy crap that was one kick ass show, I got to see piggy, Mr Self Distruct, Home, Starfuckers Inc, Please...it was great! if anyone of you are wondering who the lucky guy was that got to take home Jordie's guitar... well thats me....and its in one peice! I can't beilve it.

I was so happy when trent came jumping into the audience, I got to rub that shaved head of his...it was so kool... I couldn't comprehend how small the club was, it was like seeing some local show only a million times better, trent was so talkitive is was weird. Gave Up was a higlight for me...I love that song, it gets me pumped up every time I hear it.

I had the best time of my life....I can only hope they do more club tours some other time, and I can get tickets....

One more side-note. I loved how they played piggy right after Mr. Self Destruct, and how Aaron actually played the fucked up guitar part that bridges the two together on the CD. Same goes for Pinion into Wish.

That club kicked so much ass. The only thing that could have been cooler is if during wish and the other songs where the white strobes were going crazy, if they had strobed the entire club and not just the stage. Something about how the room was in a circle, with 3 levels of people wrapped around it. It made me think of the Wish video.

That place also looked like it belonged in a Blade movie.

Yeah, no visible bruises (despite my friend getting a foot in the eye), but I was a bit achy on Saturday morning. Not that surprising, since we somehow ended up being near where Trent dove in, where the tamborine landed, and where Aaron landed.

I don't think I've worked that hard in a pit since the Reno show last March.

Great show. I haven't had that much fun at show in long time. Crowd was great. Its a blast to hear everyone singing louder than the band.

My only complaint was the sound. The music didn't sound that bad but I didn't understand one thing Trent said.

PS. Great story hippygeek!

1. Ticket said "8:30 p.m." but I got there at around 8:15 p.m. and Saul Williams was nearly done with his set. Really pissed me off.

2. G *finally* got to see NIN do Dead Souls.

3. Sound kinda sucked.

4. Set list and overall show = good.

5. TIMP, were you in the... cough cough... "mosh" area in the center? If so, I pushed you around 200 times.

6. I froze my friggin' ass off *everywhere* in Morongo. Every part of that building was cold, even the elevators. Vegas I understand, it's over-A/C'd because it's 104 outside and you expect it. But, it was really friggin' cold and windy outside at Morongo and they had those propane ski resort heat lamps out front by the valet desk.

7. That's a pretty decent hotel (except for freezing my ass off) -- Plasma t.v. in room, pretty good service, decent restaurants, the Spa was great, cool pools. They need fuzzy robes in the rooms. The bathroom and shower fixtures were great, good water pressure. The bartender up in the 360 bar told me that the N9ne Group (Ghostbar and steak restaurant) used to be in that hotel, but they left. Wow, no dice games at Indian casinos. They need to fix the valet parking situation.

I was pretty much smack dab in the middle on the floor -- about midway back from the stage, and about stage center. When a bunch of people were slamming in the center, I was at the rear edge of that swarm, pushing people back into the swarm and occasionally getting shoved around in there, myself. Or group-pogo'ing.

There were a LOT of people, there; I don't know how anybody saw anybody, even if they knew who they were looking for! 8-)

You know, again, I think this set list was REALLY good - I loved it.

Somehow I missed the fact that you were going to be at this show. I would have loved to say hello. Hi Beavette!

I'm sorry to hear you missed most of his show. That sucks.

(Did you know we tried to call you when he was walking around the casino? We didn't think he was even performing that night . . .)

(Yeah, Jennifer texted me that Saul Williams would be opening. She didn't tell me the way you guys found out, though... ha!)

I was going to say thats whats happens when your mom smoked cracked while she was prego. Beavette is much more eloquent.

Hopefully she's a future Darwin Award winner.

Edit: Just to be clear, I'm talking about the original chick who posted, not Beavette. I can't say anything bad about Beavette since she can most likely kick my ass. ;)
