Post show reviews here.

This was my fourth show and is was incredible. It seemed really rough in the pit. I can't believe the concert didn't sell out. Trent was feeling better and went in the crowd for piggy (my friend was singing head to head with Trent and some other people for it) Aaron dove in the crowd and got raped before getting pulled out! Setlist in random order:

Pilgramige
Mr Self Destruct
Sin
Line Begins to Blur
Terrible Lie
Closer
Gave Up
Burn
Piggy
March of the pigs
The Frail
The Wretched
Hurt

Head like a Hole
What others am I missing?

My first Nine Inch Nails expirence. I've been listening to them since I was 10 and wow....I've been missing out. I can't believe what a night it was, I was worried London wasn't do good enough but fuck....it was intense down on the floor. I mean, I don't think any other concert besides Marylin Manson would have a crowd like that. I felt proud too when he said Canadian's rock or something. But the beinging with Sin, and Mr.Selfdistruct like...it was the most fun. I loved the screen stuff too. Trent you are the fucking man. It was brilliant, I hope you come back. The band is great aswell. The guitarist jumping in and the bass player using the microphone stand. Oh and nice smashing at the end. I love you guys. It is the best by far concert and I couldn't even tell that Trent was sick. I kind of wished they played Dead Souls and Starfuckers Inc. but oh well. Anyone with pictures, post it up!

Incredible. This show was 1000 times better than the november Toronto show.

Oh, and Reptile was fucking amazing.
Master of the Ninth Arch
daevha has the setlist correct ... and what a mindfuck that setlist was.

Piggy and Reptile were really nice surprises. Right from the second Mr. Self Destruct launched off through Terrible Lie the pit was fucking intense. I had to cut out to the side because I thought my friend was going to die. Highlight of the show was definitely Aaron jumping into the crowd and getting absolutely raped. When he got pulled out he looked fucking scared.

The crowd in London totally fucking destroyed the ones in Toronto and Montreal. Third, and by far the best time I've seen them on the current tour.

Trent didn't show any signs of sickness; what an amazing show....
Bricklayer
Fucking excellent show... not quite as good as the May 10/05 show but fucking great. I loved Mr. Self Destruct, one of my faves... glad I got to hear it. The crowd was actually not bad, I thought they would be worse. I think the energy during March of the Pigs was just insane!!! The whole show had great energy but especially that song! Can't wait till next time!
great show,.
4th time seeing them. I went out on a wim seeing them and they totally blew me away. just as good or better then 05/09/2005 in toronto.

I recorded. kinda. I had the hold on during mr.selfdestruct and the batteries died around suck. o well better then nothing

piggy!
Grand Pontiff
Awesome show :) I think it was better than the November Toronto show for sure, and definitely rougher - I was squeezed to death in the pit, which really didn't happen in Toronto. The crowd did not die even by the end of the show. Even my gum package had condensation.

It was pretty neat when Aaron jumped into the crowd, except everyone just kind of swarmed him. Trent also came to the crowd, resulting in a bunch of us being pushed to floor. But it was allllll worth it. I thought his voice didn't sound all that good at the beginning of Mr. Self Destruct, but it he seemed perfectly well for the rest of the show. I would never have known he was sick. And it was neat to see Alessandro playing a guitar for Mr. Self Destruct, rather than being stuck at the back.

Reptile was my FAVOURITE, and I'm SO glad I finally got to hear it live.

Ahhhhhh... good times.
Bricklayer
WOW! The london show was amazing! Saul started with what? 5 to 6 songs. Followed by a long wait, NAILS! The G/A was insane! Pilgramage and Mr Self Destruct shocked me into the show. By march of the pigs the crowd infront of Aaaron North was going crazy. When he jumped in I was within feet of him. When the crowd pulled him in, we ended up getting fired back and I fell. I nearly passed out by the end. By now the mush in my brains was kickin in ;). The frail & the wretched saved us, closer got a little rough but not too bad. eraser, right where it belongs and beside you in time were a welcome break. when they let reptile go we were ready to get back into the show by suck we were going nuts! Hurt flowed by wonderfully. When the hand that feeds begain, the crowd pushed the last bit of energy out and head like a hole when by with an intensity that i've never been a part of before. The light coloums during the second half were great, as was the lighting in general. I'm seriously considering going to Eerie of Rochester to see the next show!
Bricklayer
That show was mental. The pit was definitely more intense than the show in Toronto in November. Piggy was for sure a highlight of the show, and Sin. What the hell song was it when Trent was playing the tambourine?! I'm sorry for getting a bit teeny on you all, but Trent + tambourine = friggin hot. DAMN. I don't know exactly why.....but it was hot.
Fantastic show. Trent was in good form after being ill.

Now to sleep. Work in the morning. Boourns.
Bricklayer
This show completely blew away the november show in Toronto..
the energy was intense as fuck and trent looked healthy.

the mosh pit was crazy and its been a long time that i saw a crazy ass mosh pit since the manson concert in hamilton back in 98'

Aaron did seem to get raped when he jumped in because he seemed out of it when he crawled back up to the stage, and trent went down to the crowd during piggy and all i saw was people shoving their cameras to his face and a thousand flashes were shittin everywhere.

some fucktard threw something at twiggy, and i dont know if anyone noticed, he gave a quick finger towards the crowd..and also, a bottle was thrown and almost hit trent in the foot when he was on the keyboards for the frail...so i mumbled to myself "don't throw shit on the stage before trent breaks his gigantic arm up in ur ass"

when head like a hole ended, it was fun to see aaron smashing his guitar right on alassandro's keyboard and it looked like alassandro was scared as hell and seemed a bit pissed...and threw his keyboard at aaron. Some amusing shit..

all trent said through out the whole show was something like "canadian fans rock...u may have noticed i was sick and postponed a couple of shows..it sucks to cancel shows because i really enjoy playing..bla bla"

anyways..
tonight was incredible and mr self destruct and reptile blew me away.

thanks trent, and rest of NIN for a kick ass show.

lastly, me and my bro seemed to be the only asians at the show...
Bricklayer
Yeah, I think it's safe to say that everybody in the pit got absolutely molested. Great show! Similar to Toronto, except adding beer to the mix pretty much resulted in extra funness/violence.

In a related note, Aaron North is now carrying my baby.
Bricklayer
another thing...was alassandro always that hyper in the past shows? i remember him just standing there pressing his buttons in november...
Bricklayer
Things I learned tonight at the NIN show tonight.

1. The Spiral is cool. Okay so I haven't got any of the shit in the mail they are suppost to send, okay the web site doesn't really have much on it thats cool, the online chats with the band are lame, forget all that shit if you haven't -join the fuck up! No I didn't get to meet Trent, but my ticket is the coolest fucking looking ticket ever, with my name on it. Plus nice people give it to you and let you in out of the cold before anyone else.
Oh yeah, I don't have to sit way the fuck up in the upper deck, or pay scalpers for a good view.

2. Reptile is a good song. No seriously it is my favourite nails song, but after tonight it seems better. They nailed it.

3. Okay kiddies, when you go see this band when they come to your second market venue buy the fucking tour book!!!! This thing is fucking gold! Worth whatever I paid. Great photography. Plus I can should my Grand kids some day.

4. London seems like a nice place didn't really tour around so much but it was nice to get out of the city. The John Labatt Centre is a great venue. Seems like a great place to see an OHL game. The show was great but "Where is everybody?"

5. Well I noticed that this band still has its shit together, sure Trent doesn't seem as ripped as he was in May, but he hasn't the time to work out as much I suppose, great show, best tour hands down in years. Lighting, set, band, music ect.

Other things that I noticed

-Aarron I think hurt someone when he jumped into the crowd
-lots of youth at this show, great to see -there seemed to be plenty too many a yuppie at the November Toronto show -however there were lots of beautiful women at the Toronto show, didn't notice too many here
-the venue didn't seem full, see if you go to second market (towns not used to having shows, that are small and not full of people) you get second market crowds, just an observation
-lots of songs from Downward Spiral which suits me fine -love With Teeth but songs like Piggy, Reptile, Eraser , well they suit me fine.
-I love the new version of Closer -heard it a few times now, and well it suits me fine
-Hurt however, sounds better as before, (pre With Teeth era) not as a solo piano ballad, third show in thes era and well.... I like the original with a full band throughout.
Best with teeth track live -Line Begins to Blur, hands down!!! fucking rocks
My favorite song they play everytime they play -Terrible Lie, never gets old, play it till you drop Trent!!!!

Great show. I will drive to any second market venue any day to see NIN.
A++++

PS Trent seemed very healthy, so hopefully he won't cancell anymore shows, fuck I was really worried.... sorry Ottawa
Master of the Ninth Arch
Awesome show. Maybe not quite as good as the may shows but better then the November shows for sure. Awesome energy and all was grande with the setlist. An enjoyable night I must say. Reptile was awesome as well as eraser.
Bricklayer
Third time for me; first was in the early 90's, life took over until this past October when I saw them in Memphis, with quite a shortened set list. I have to admit they nailed everthing: the lighting was fucking amazing - I mean, did they repeat one effect all night? The set list, as reported here, was exactly what I was hoping for - actually it was huge surprise that we got the "long" list; no complaints whatsoever. Reznor's voice was nuts on - goes to show what can happen on three days rest (sorry Ottawa, etc.) Probably the best show/concert I've been to in the last fifteen years - here's to hoping they come back... soon!
TheMainAct- What the hell song was it when Trent was playing the tambourine?!

Everyday is Exactly the same, Its great seeing it live again. Trent is a very sexy man.
Ok, this show was insane! London, you're crazy. The front pit was so bad that during Sin (the 2nd song played) the JLC turned the house lights on!! And yet it was still crazy, but not too too bad and then during they turned the lights out agian and shit hit the fan again! March of the Pigs was CRAZY and ya Aaron looked really scared, he had a "what the fuck did I just get into?" kinda look on his face.

This show was the best one so far, 100 times better than TO in Nov. If only you could have seen it. I was really something.

The only thing that sucked was they didn't let anyone in for the sound check, maybe because 60% of the people there were sprail members.....
Grand Pontiff
During March of the Pigs some asshole next to me was pulling on Aaron's guitar and refused to let go, so Aaron decided to punch him but actually got me a little bit instead.

So that was pretty awesome.
What an amazing show! I was stuck in the 300 section (dam JLC) but it was awesome! I think we were the loudest ones in the building (that's probably why I don't have a voice right now haha)!
I wish I was on the floor because it didn't look as rough as the Toronto show where I was on the floor, but what can you do?
I was ecstatic to hear Mr. Self Destruct, Sin & Reptile.
Can't wait for the next tour! NIN forever!
the show was KICK ASS!!!!!! does anyone have any recordings?
I agree, that I was looking forward to Dead Souls and Starfuckers too. FUCKING AMAZING though. I was so happy that he didn't half-ass it with the sickness, and he truely put himself out there for all of us. He truely is a musical God in my eyes, as I'm sure he is in many others. This is my second NIN concert, and this time the floor seats were awesome. I was about 15 ft. away from Trent and I got some absolutely AMAZING shots. If you want to see them, just say the word. The pit did get a bit intense in the first 3 song, but it was a healthy balance. Hand that Feeds though. Oh my God... so amazingly well done. My favourite Nine Inch Nails song, I would think. I got clobbered, and I loved it. THANKS FOR THE FUCKING AMAZING TIME, TRENT! (btw, Aaron North is a crazy SOB and I fucking love it)

I totally forgot about the house lights turning on, I was thinking what the fuck, they're gonna stop the show?!!?!?! It was insane down on the floor, I need to see a chiropractor or something, my back kills. But what was up with those little ass kids at the front?! I saw them get pulled out before the NIN show started. Honestly, why would you let your kids get that close. Oh well, I think London represented damn well and I hope NIN comes back.

I want to see pictures! Post them up! And the setlist, like...worked out perfect because after Terrible Lie, I needed to settle down and then we chilled for a bit and got back into it. It's like they knew what songs to play when.
Master of the Ninth Arch
I was standing right in front of Jeordie. Someone threw a shoe at him part way through the show.

I don't think Alessandro likes Aaron very much. Every time Aaron came close to him - Alessandro pushed him away. When Aaron Climbed on top of his keyboard - Alessandro knocked him down. It was funny to watch. I think Alessandro must have been really pissed during Head Like a Hole when Aaron repeatedly smashed his guitar into the keyboard.

Also, the show wasn't sold out but was pretty full. the nosebleeds seemed to have scattered numbers.

They played Piggy and a couple of other songs (wish? gave up?) during the soundcheck. But no one go to see it cause they left us all outside in the cold.

I like how Trent played that cool instrument at the end of Piggy - what's it called?
Great show. It's nice to see NIN making the B Venue tour. A friend of mine ran into Trent and the gang at Boston Pizza on Wonderland and Southdale after the show. Lucky bugger.

Yeah and my friend Bryan said that on Sunday night Trent and this girl came in at Joe Cools downtown while he was working. Lucky!!!!

awesome show. im so happy they played piggy! i tried to get to whoever dove into the crowd but i couldnt :( so it was aaron north eh?

i got to actually see the whole video thing they have this time... i love the uproar that followed bush's appearance... i bet trent did too...

anyone have any recordings or cool pictures???? i wont use them for anything i just like to keep them.... i had a crappy disposable camera and i love hearing/seeing the preformance i was there for on my computer... so yeah.. anyone? id love you.. thanks.
ya londons hurtin..weres teh pictures and a recording..thats the best set list ive seen on this tour so far..

and i could of went :/ 2 hour drive but i bailed on it...aah well...a little too far
Bricklayer
Holy shit the sounded fucking incredible live

but damn i wasnt expecting that pit, me and my girlfriend got about 10 feet away from the front as we walked onto the floor, and when mr self destruct started both of us got trashed.

we got the fuck out of there pretty quick and got stuck in an even crazier pit
once we got about 30 feet back the rest of the show was really fucking enjoyable
reptile was fucking incredible, head like a hole which sounds tinny on cd was off the fucking hook at the end. so hard
gave up was great

and the strobe lights were fucking incredible, i dont know why but that was one of the craziest things ive ever seen, it felt like a dream watching when that shit was happening, it was like a cube of white light

and no one has really mentioned saul but my nigga was really fucking good, i was not expecting that at all. when i heard he was opening i was pretty disappointed after sampling his shit but man, the dj was really good and he was so energetic

next time if i go with her, im picking some seats, i felt too protective of her to enjoy myself when shit got crazy in the pit

edit: does anyone know the name of the dj that played with saul?
Amazing Show. Way better than Toronto.... i also had way better seats. Infact, i had the best seats, about 20 feet away from the stage. That was amazing! Aaron impressed me last night. I like him better than i used to.
I could finally see Alessandro which was awsome, and getting the chance to see Josh Freese was an unbelievable treat. That guy blows most any other drummer i've seen before out of the water! He was unbelievable! - I hope he tours with APC again soon.

Jeordie was incrediable! (PLaying the bass (or guitar) with the mic stand was hilarious). I still find it amazing that that's the same guy who was the scary ass Twiggy Ramirez from Manson- which i would have liked to have seen back in the day. Still a treat to see the guy do his thing. Huge inspiration!

I saw a few weird instruments and shit up there. No theramine (lol), but equally as fuckin weird, if not more so. That electric M-Bira, trent had (if that is what it is) in i can't remember what song, was fucking wild. I was having a hard time figuring out exactly what sound it was making. But that was cool anyway. Earlier on, Alessandro hooked up some bizarre mirror like thing above his keyboard. He was waving it around as if picking up light beams or something- very theramine like. Does anyone have any idea what that was? It was wicked whatever it was.

Amazing show, can't wait to see it again in June in Ottawa, assuming it will be reschedualed!
(the "jizz on my face") is a result of saying "lol" in brackets.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Do you think NIN would make a small stop to London again when they do Ottawa and those missed shows?
zuki wrote:Do you think NIN would make a small stop to London again when they do Ottawa and those missed shows?
I wouldn't count on it. But would be wicked. I wish I was at boston pizza last night. Im dying to ask Trent a few questions (me and the rest of the world i guess)
Master Traveler
sorry to ask this... i know this isnt where it belongs but i dont want to start a whole thread about it i know its somewhere... ive been checking for a freakin hour for the setlist for may 9th 05 and i cant find it anywhere. please help!
What was the song played with Closer?
I think they played part of The Only Time during Closer
timmer wrote:What was the song played with Closer?
"The Only Time" from Pretty Hate Machine... which is a really weird combo... not sure exactly what the two songs have to do with eachother. Maybe its just cuz it sounds so fucking cool!
Thanks - another couple of questions:
- put together the set list on my iPod - does anyone know what song the Nails started and finished with during the curtain/visual part? (that was really amazing)
- my first time seeing NIN - no 'encore' - do they usually not do one? (granted it was 2 hours already).
TIA!

you mean the video part?

eraser....

i didnt even notice they opened with pilgrimage though.... i dont remember hearing it. which pisses me off because its one of my favourites.. but i was preoccupied with chugging my beer before the pit got nasty!!
Wow. My first ever show. It was AMAZING. I was in the pit the whole time. I was so beat up. Man I wish that show was still going on....
It still hasn't hit me that I was in the same room as Reznor. It's pretty cheesy but I almost cried. I'm in love with that man...or at least as much as I can be for never having met him.
Anyways. I think that show was awsome and I can't wait to do it again.

if you mean the actual opening song for the concert apparently pilgrimage... sadly i didnt notice it was....
Yes - the video part - there was three songs played during this part?
I was at my seat during the opening for Pilgrimage - I did recognize it, not at first because the house lights were still on; seemed to be a shorter version.
Bricklayer
What is up with people saying it was better than Toronto in November? Yes the band and show were fucking amazing, as good as TO in November, but jesus christ, I hope they don't go back to shithole London.
I fucking hate that city (I grew up just outside of London) and I forgot what assholes some of the people are at shows since I haven't been to a show there for a while.
Seriously, the pit looked like they were having fun, it's unfortunate that the people sitting in the seats were fucking emo losers who just stood or even worse, SAT there and just looked bored through the whole show.
We actually had assholes complain because we chose to stand up and dance and have a good time through the show! What the hell, your at a Nine Inch Fucking Nails concert and you want to just sit there looking bored, or just sit there and talk loudly while drinking beer? tools, seriously, just tools
otherwise, all compliments in the world to the band, amazing as usual!

the thing about seats is.... some people DO just want to sit around and watch the show... thats why theres seats and some people opt for them.. so if you choose to get seats (or get fucked over for floor tickets) you basically have to deal with the fact that you might have to sit down for the show... if youre lucky that most people stand you can stand too.... (we got lucky lke that at the last SOAD show).

when people talk through the show it pisses me off though.... thats a valid complaint....

why was it better than the toronto show?

- band was more intense
- aaron jumping into crowd
- trent going down to the crowd
- more smashing shit up
- kick ass drummer = tighter sound/performance
- louder sound than toronto
- crazier mosh pit
- reptile, piggy, mr self detruct, sin, and EDIETS just about explains everything.

sure..
alot of the people at the seats were sitting but it doesn't mean that they didn't enjoy the show..maybe not everyone likes dancing or scream their lungs off through out the songs..maybe some are more observant because they were in awe of seeing Trent Reznor up on stage.
Bricklayer
any word on sauls dj? he had a tshirt in front of his equipment, i just cant remember his moniker or website

i just know it involved a couple xxs

when we got out of the pit people looked so bored, it seemed like there were so many single, 7 foot tall assholes standing motionless throughout the crowd on the floor. and looking into the seats, people looked dry as hell.

dudes to the right of the stage were having a good time, probably due to alcohol based on their style of dancing. heh!

and to whoever mentioned they cried or almost cried? when reptile played, i definitely choked up i was so happy to experience it live
Master of the Ninth Arch
It kind of pisses me off too about these older guys that are massive and stuff and they just stand there. And like since they're so big, everyone moves out of the way because they push there way in and then they don't mosh at all. And who were those people after the show that was lingering around outside with a sign about Lyle something or other? Hahahahaha, I dunno, but I thought it was funny. I had a feeling they came from somewhere far and lost there way home.

And about that Saul William's dj....maybe check on the website? I'm sure it'll mention him and you'll reconize it.
http://public.fotki.com/elliottm/nin_london/page4.html

here's my pictures

I was expecting alot of crazy people in the crowd London people just can't stop moshing it was the same at Opeth last week..

you guys (london) suck at supporting Aaron North though- he almost fell
so the concert was amazing, so much energy was on the floor. out of 5 nails concerts this one was by far the best for me. and i could go on about my personal experiance but i have news that is far more superior then that.... and if your a die hard fan, you should be sitting down for this.

i just got off the phone, with a best friend of mine that was at the concert, we hung out at the concert, had some beers, but then i spent all of my time in the pit. he's a bit older so he stood back with other friends and beer and enjoyed the concert from the sidelines.

he told me that near the end of the concert he was standing by a guy he knew from way back, plus another dude. without relesing names i will name my friend ("D"), his friend he knows ("T") and the other dude ("X"). T and X are friends and X is the leader of the local london chapter of the Hells Angels. You with me so far?..... T and X are only there at the concert to inform Trent Reznor and the Band that they will be joining them after the concert to play a private party. the bar is closed off to the public and is on "invite only" as you can imagine, and my buddy D get the invite from T to come.... alone.

Now.....just a little background, D is very sick with the flu. at work for the past 4 days he's been coughing up lung butter, the whole nine yards. but he still makes it to the concert. He's in no condition to be hanging out after the concert in a room full of H.A.'s cause lets face it's, that a bit "seedy", even for me. are you ready for it?....... D doesn't go.

(at this point i am screaming into the phone reciver at the top of my lungs "YOU FUCKING IDIOT, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? WHAT THE FUCK IS THE MATTER WITH YOU!!! plus some more obsenities that i just can't remember right now, but you get the point. )

D tells me that 40 mins after the concert he's lying in bed, dying, and his cell phone rings and leaves a message. actually it leaves 2. D doesn't listen them till this morning. the first one: it's T saying " HEY, WHERE ARE YOU? THEIR ABOUT TO PLAY! JUST COME TO FRONT AND ASK FOR ME, HURRY UP THEIR ABOUT TO START!" the second message, 15mins after the 1st: it's T again " HEY, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU, THE BAND IS PLAYING RIGHT NOW!!!!" (then a pause with the sound of a cell phone reaching the sky, and in the background nine inch nails are playing live)

The place where they were playing, hanging out,and having fun last night after the concert, closed from the public's eye, in a room with seedy hell's angels bikers was The Salt Lounge.

If your not from london, which i am. this bar is one block down, on King St. from the JLC. you may even have walked across it leaving the show. it's right beside a gay bar called 187 with rainbows-a-blazing. i swear you can't miss it.

after reading this post, i wanna know?.... do you feel that empty pit in your stomach and chest,....yeah..... that one........that my friends is the feeling of utter bewilderment, followed but a heaping of anger. it's like watching an episode of "who want's to be a millionaire" and the final million dollar question is " who wrote the song "hurt"? is it a) johnney cash b) wilford brimley c) patsy kline or d) trent reznor. and the asshole uses he's 50/50 chance, asks the audiance, then calls his mom, who then preceeds to waste 0:45 sec by saying hello to regis, asks if he still talks to kathy lee, and then talks about how proud she is of her son for BEEP! BEEP! oh... and he still gets it wrong. it's the feeling that say's " if that were me in that situation, there wouldn't be an option, the answer is always A cause there is no B,C,D,F,X,orZ.
it's the golden million dollar 3 point shot from under the net. it's screams "HOW DID YOU FUCK THAT UP?!!!"

in any case, i will now dedicate that remainder of my days making fun, ridiculing, and giving silent, closed eyed, shakes of the head to D for his unforgivable mistake of passing a once in a lifetime chance to hang with trent reznor at a local pub.

why was it better than the toronto show?

- band was more intense
- aaron jumping into crowd
- trent going down to the crowd
- more smashing shit up
- kick ass drummer = tighter sound/performance
- louder sound than toronto
- crazier mosh pit
- reptile, piggy, mr self detruct, sin, and EDIETS just about explains everything.

sure..
alot of the people at the seats were sitting but it doesn't mean that they didn't enjoy the show..maybe not everyone likes dancing or scream their lungs off through out the songs..maybe some are more observant because they were in awe of seeing Trent Reznor up on stage.
Like I said, my complaints have NOTHING to do with the band or their performance, I was just as excited about reptile, piggy, mr. self destruct, sin and ediets (although some were in fact played in TO as well)
My complaints were about the people who literally looked bored throughout the show sitting in their seats. I can understand being in awe of the performance and that being a cause to keep seated to prevent passing out, but I can tell the difference between someone who is just sitting there yapping or staring off into space bored and someone who is in awe. I noticed that the seats closer to the stage seemed to be having more fun, but at the back they were just jerks, and trust me if I could get on the floor (I begged the security guard since there seemed to be room, although for fire reasons I understand why they did not) I would have been on there, but I couldn't and the woman I called for the tickets was a moron and didn't seem to understand me and since i had paid an INSANE amount of money for tickets to the TO show to be on the floor, I didn't have the cash to try ebay again.
It just seemed to me that the crowd in Toronto was more into it because the WHOLE crowd was into it, whereas in London, yes the pit was nuts and that's great, but there was a majority of the room who were in seats just sitting there bored, or in one case throwing beer at innocent people because he was pissed at his girlfriend, but don't get me started on that..

Excellent stories from everyone. I love reading what you guys thought about the concert, and I certainly agree with most of the positive comments. I've been to 4 NIN shows (the others being Fragility 2000, the first KH show last May, and the one at ACC in November; all in Toronto), and this was definitely my favorite one ever. The energy of the crowd on the floor around me was great!!! I always love screaming the words back at Trent and moshing like crazy, but I felt so much better about doing it this time with the spirit of the floor crowd. I fuckin' love you all, you guys are great.

If anyone wants to add me to msn, it's choksta@hotmail.com - I'd seriously love to have more NIN friends to chat with, especially near the London area. What do you guys look like? Maybe I'll recognize some of you from the show. Just imagine this skinny bald guy in a black t-shirt with the NIN logo and that would be what I looked like on the floor (and normally, as I have like 6 black NIN t-shirts; haha). Hope you guys had a blast!

That show blew the Toronto A.C.C show out of the water. The band was tighter, the crowd was into it...and the band was feeding off the crowd's energy. The section of stands I was in was rockin out...so I'm not sure what some of you people are talking about.I gotta say that I've been to probably 100's of shows in Toronto and I can guarantee you audiences there sit down in the stands,so drop the Toronto holier than thou crap.

The only empty seats I saw were in the nosebleeds in the back end of the bowl, and even those had several rows of poeple...some of you make it sound like the place was only half full.

And what the hell exactly are people expected to do in the stands...cramped into 12 inches of seat space...squeezed elbow to elbow, not exactly a mosh pit environment!!What the hell are you doing staring at the stands anyway...YOU sound like the bored ones!

Anyway...apart from the two Kool Haus shows...London was the best show of the tour I've seen so far,and (in Trent's words) kicked fuckin ass.

First words out of Trent's mouth..."back from the dead".

..indeed!

i guess you are right, i misunderstood ur post..
i was in the 115 section and i did look at the crowds at the back..majority were sittin down and motionless.. i guess alot of them were not really fans since they bought tickets late to get those shitty seats..u know..the outsiders who come to concerts cuz they are bored out of their asses.
but other than that, the show raped the t.o.

I wasn't staring at the stands you tool, I had people telling me to sit down because apparantly I was having too much fun watching the show and dancing to the music. Also it seems that in Toronto and some parts of London people were able to dance and have fun in the stands, I don't know when this turned into an argument about how much space there is in the stands...

it sucks that I got stuck there since i bought tickets like right at noon the day they went on sale, but the woman I got on the phone was completely confused and stupid and I got stuck at the back, never happening again..

Either way, whether it was better than Toronto or not, it doesn't overly matter. Did you enjoy the show? Yes or no? What did you like? It's not worth arguing about what was better. Nine Inch Nails has rocked every show, and to compare them to each other is a joke. They kicked ass in London AND Toronto, you shouldn't have that as your first thought leaving that show.
It really did kick ass though... man, and that "back from the dead" part. I went nuts. Thanks for pointing that out halo of lies, nearly forgot... somehow.

Props to you man, these aren't half bad considering the bullshit one has to go thru to take some photos these days. Just a point: what were you shooting with? They rejected all my "big" camera gear, so I was reduced to some 35 mm film point/shoot. <sigh>

I'm one of those tall guys that just stand there. I (and probably several other of my friends who are also tall) were there and we are quite HUGE fans on nin, but in a more mature and appreciative way (im sure the other guys as old as us are the same way). We of course pay top price for best seats. To be honest, i hate the pit cuz i can't stand being pushed around all night. But I'm aware that my tallness must be pretty annoying, or that i just stand there. But after a while I myself get fed up with worrying about people behind me. We've all paid for the tickets, and unforunately my height is uncontrollable.

And part of the reason we stand there, is because no one wants a big tall guy standing in front. If we stay in one place, hopefully people will figure out where to not stand. If we move around, then we're causing shit over the whole floor. Might as well stay still and stop moving in front of view.

But for sake of argument, having short people behind you holding up cameras with those friggin loops hanging down and tickling me in the back of the head all fucking night is enough to make someone insane.

But anyway, my apologies for being so tall and obstuctive not much we can do about it, cept move to the back... but since we've all paid the same amount, we all have the right to stand wherever we want, and enjoy the show however we want to.

Just some observations... After the show…

"Everyone's been to a show where you're watching the performance, and all of a sudden the world's different. You have some kind of epiphany, and it's totally generated by that music and that moment."

The lead guitarist from The Secret Machines said that. Not me, not Trent; just some guitarist from a middle tier band (who absolutely rock, by-the-way) who has got it right. It is all about that moment in time when the band is playing, your hips are swaying, your eyes are closed (and yet you can still see) and the music just bleeds right through you. It is like it permeates your skin, punctures your preconceived notions and sets you free.

Music has always been that way for me; it has been the way. The way out, the way in, around, up, down, every which way you can think of. It has calmed me when I’ve been angry, made happy when I have been sad; it has always been part of my life and will always be there in some way, shape or form. I use to think that writing code was like watching music flow; that the stroke of a paintbrush was like a stroke of a bow against a violin. It has resonance and vibration and life and colour and substance and joy; finding its way through me and being me. It was/is/will be the way.

So, what’s this all got to do with Nine Inch Nails? Well, I wasn’t always a fan, trust me. In the early nineties they weren’t what I considered to be important. It took time for me to understand and enjoy what Mr. Reznor brought to the fore. Of course, the secret was a simple one: let the music wash over you, not gently, but let in inundate you. Let it penetrate you, let you blend yourself with the rhythms and patterns and shouts and screams and the breaking of guitars and… well, just let it be.

The ground that Trent has walked is full of dark little spaces and holes and slippery slopes, shaped by tears and fears and an almost naïve understanding of what it is to be alive. Naïve, well, perhaps not: Mr. Reznor knows how to protect the brand and extend his reach. He ain’t no fool, y’know? Professional? Yes, indeed – if you see them live, NIN will level your understanding of how to run a rock and roll show; they know how to play. Compassionate? Not really, but passionate to a fault – watch them from the sweat of the Pit some day, when you are fighting for breath and trying to get you feet back on the ground and you see him flick his eyes to emphasize the point.

And you roar your approval.
Bricklayer
AMEN tomass! Mr. Self Destruct kicked loads of ass. I'm one big bruise today. I found the crowd to be quite vocal at this show, especially during the slower songs. I kept thinking about how amazing it must be to hear thousands of people screaming your lyrics right back at you. Damn. What a sweet job, eh? haha

As for the story about NIN at the Salt Lounge...that better be bullshit because I went to the Salt Lounge for about an hour or so after the show, but I was exhausted and famished, so we left to go get food and head home. There was no sign of them when I was there (some other band was playing), and I'd be uber-pissed if we'd left just before the fun got started.
Master of the Ninth Arch
amazing show. posting pics soon.
Ok, to finally put it to rest, the boys got on the bus after the show and LEFT town. They don't stay in hotels, those buses are like a hotel. They have satellite TV and bunks and couches and blah blah. They immediately left for the 4 1/2 hour trek to Erie, PA. There was no performance at any shitty bar. The after-party was nothing more than a lame local band playing to an almost empty house. Losers out front the arena afterwards were trying to hype it up, to no avail. I watched with my own eyes , all members board the bus and leave. I was a bit shocked at how few people were hanging out afterwards to catch a glimpse.

I think i saw Jeordie in a limo before the show. Its very possible im wrong. But whoever it was, he was very similar looking, and was obviously just chillin for a bit. There was a body gaurd, or security gaurd, or guitar tech or soemthing in the limo with him. They appeared to just be talking casually, possibly catching a quick drink before the show (away from Trent understandibly), maybe a line or something... i dont know if Jeordie is still into that stuff or not.
Anyway, just my little two cents i thought was kinda cool. I could be very wrong, but im content with convincing myself it was him.

It drives me much how much I know about them, and they dont know I exist. Im sure everyone knows what i mean. It'd just be awsome to just hang out. Never mind autographs, never mind having a big story to tell, never mind "chilling with the stars". It would just be pretty cool to find out what these guys are like in person.

For a great read, pick up Marilyn Manson's book, "Long Hard Road Out of Hell". There's a bunch of stuff involving Trent and Twiggy (aka Jeordie)
Yea. I was like 3rd from the front dead center. I definitly found that video on the internet and didn't take the video personally. I was having too much of a good time trying to survive for my spot.

One word can describe that sweet deal though: EPIC....

Having only began listening to the whole NIN sound back in May and now considering NIN one of my favourite pieces of art, I can honestly say that there is no form of speech that can sum up the live show except for EPIC.
The video projection aspect mixed with the lighting and visuals were just wow. I'd have to say that set was like being killed and going to heaven. Fucking chaos everywhere but beauty at the same time

But yea, great show all around and cannot wait till Trent & the guys hit up either Detroit or Toronto or even at all London in the near future.

I thought it was ridiculous that security was doing a "3 strikes your out" policy on crowd surfers. What the fuck do they expect to happen at a rock concert? They were actually putting a mark on each persons hand when they came down at the front.

good for security. crowd surfers are dicks.
You know its a kickass show when theres PITS goin on BEFORE nin hit the stage. like 15 minutes before. plus they were pullin people over the barrier way before shit started. way crazier than ACC...longer setlist and i felt a better selection. MR. SD was sick...got the place pumpin and psyched up!

It was no May9-10th in TO but lets face it...no arena / large venue is going to compare to a bar scene the size that the Koolhaus is hosting a band / artist the size of NIN/Reznor. Mind you that there was no curtin vids to give us some sort of 'intermission' which I felt took away some of the energy this tour and last WT'05.

Long live Trent Reznor and all his encompassing musical genius that is his works and live nine inch nails. kudos to another brilliant live performance and looking forward to much much more!

Actually I'm pretty sure the ACC setlist was longer - 25 songs - vs. JLC's 23 songs.

Hey - anyone know what was up with the way the piano was played in EDIETS? It seemed so difficult to follow the lyrics in the chorus because the piano was way off. It was like the same couple of notes played over and over - quite different from the studio version. I wish I knew more about music - then I could better describe what I mean.

I made my pics smaller, so they didn't take as long because resizing wasn't necessary (I had to do it for the first site I tried. FYI Imageshack sucks). Otherwise, yeah, it might take a while. I think theres a way to post an image thumbnail from there, but I didn't try that, I just copy and pasted the link that Photobucket provides once everything is uploaded.

So I just went to www.photobucket.com and uploaded 15 or so photos and posted the links. I originally did thumbnails, but photobucket was shrinking them down, and that reduced the quality.
Glad to know everyone likes them.
OK, i'm doin the photobucket thing and it seems to be takin a long time to upload these pics, is that normal?, there are 19 and i wanna know if perhaps i'm doing something wrong, and then when i'm done do i just copy and paste each one or can i put them in an album and copy and paste the entire thing? Be specific if you can cuz i'm not the greatest nor the worst with computers, HELP!!!
Are you sure thats the right link cuz all i see is a bunch of squares and numbers, possibly something foriegn! If it is, any other ideas cuz my pics are still uploading and its been a VERY long time.

I find Photobucket can take awhile, esp. if you are doing 19 and they are a large size and the photos get reduced.
You can also try www.fickr.com for hosting - pretty cool NIN pics there btw, some from the London show.
Oops, i fuk'd that up, but my message is there!, See, computers just don't like me!

The people coming around stopping us from smoking was retarded. Haha. Smoking should be encouraged not punished. Haha, he stomped out a big joint we had :( that was like 20 bucks down the drain. Oh well, serves my buddy right for sparking it up while the houselights were still on.

....i know im gonna get people yelling at me about this post, saying stuff like "smoking kills" or "who needs drugs to enjoy a concert".

This was a sweet show that's for sure. Slightly better than the November ACC. The band seemed to be more lively. I have pretty good footage on my digital camera of Aaron jumping into the crowd and Trent smashing his guitar into the mic stand.

Does anybody know if there is a recording of this show kicking around? I would love to hear it again!!

shera, you are probably having such a hard time uploading the photos because they are so large in size

here is what you do:

this link: http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... ySetup.exe

is the microsoft xp power toys image resizer

it makes resizing images about as easy as possible

download the file, install it, and once installed, all you have to do is right click on the image, choose the resize option, and select the size you want.

now, do that with all the photos, you can even highlight them all and resize them all to the same specification

and upload them again, or upload the ones you couldnt.

its apparent your photos are too big as shown by reptile photo having not completed (the grey area at the bottom)
thanx for the link i'm gonna have to try it a little later, i think my best pics are already up so, we'll see, hopefully i get it, i'm sure i will, i got this far, tee hee!:)

First off, you're obviously "stupid420" too, zuki.

Second off, the band all stayed in Toronto for the entire weekend, and only came to London the day of the show. Trent was NOT in London on Sunday, and NOT at Joe Cool's.

As for your other point, the band left the venue just before 11:00 pm, and were long gone from London before you and your friends saw a tour bus at Boston Pizza and wrongly concluded that it was NIN.

That's awesome kiddo, we were pretty close! I've been doing the same thing, searching for myself or someone i was with in other photos! We ended up picking up one of those tour books and i have to say that they're pretty good, but for $30 they were in kinda bad shape. We ended up exchanging the first one, which had a small rip in the top for their last shittier one. We were gonna ask for our last one back as we watched them sell it to someone else. Are you fucking kidding me? Obviously I'm not Stupid420 you douche bag. Why would I make 2 accounts on here to prove a point that doesn't really matter about them stopping off in London restruants. I do have a fucking life you know. Why would you accuse me of that? And you know, so what if they were or weren't in London at those times....my friend just told me about it Monday morning in class. I didn't believe it at first but I agreed with that "Stupid420" person because they said they were positive they knew he was in London that night too. Also, I didn't say I was there or that knew anybody that saw NIN at the Boston Pizza, fuck. I didn't even know London had one until after the concert. Another thing, some guy on here "Stew" was the one who brought up seeing them there but who really gives a shit, ok. The guy who said NIN was at the Salt Lounge is fucking liar and here your just saying all this crap about me being 2 poeple. Whatever. I wouldn't make shit up about Nine Inch Nails that wasn't true. Your just pissed off someone made fun of your name by calling it stupid and disagreed with you.

The road crew drove ahead and stayed in London, while everyone else stayed in Toronto.
Trent stopped at McDonalds and ordered one of those Double Cheeseburger meals cuz you get the free gum with it cuz trent likes cheesburgers, and doublemint. Plus the crew was hungry from coming to london earlier than the rest of the band so he gave him his french fries, which dont really fill you up anyway cuz its just grease and shit.

I need a good Rochester audio bootleg if anyone has one. I've had no luck finding one so far...which is really disappointing.

Pragmatica,

Outstanding post. I'd have gladly traded a kidney for a high quality Mr. Self-Destruct bootleg. Keep Em Coming!
