it was good, great even. it wasn't quite like the toyota center, but good just the same.

they played a couple of songs that really suprised me. they did the queen cover "get down make love" and non-entity, which i was totally not expecting, and a bunch of old stuff from previous albums. hardly any songs were from with teeth (which i was happy about). although with that said i was a little bummed that they didn't play "awitha teetha". although i'm sure someone will give the whole setlist...

aside from all the old people and getting beer spilled on me it was a great night!

The nickname 'dance party USA' that this tour has been getting by a few attendees who posted i think back to the Washington state tour a week ago is appropriate for 'La Mer', Into the Void, and The Big Comedown.

All three were the highlights of today's show but Into the Void was the masterpiece, a rare gem that sounded surprisingly spectacular live that i have a new perspective on this song. Absolutely fantastic- it would be nice if this was really played as a dance song at nightclubs, a refreshing alternative to the routine hip-hop R&B heard. As such, the visuals for Into the Void were spectacular as well. I realized how regretable it was that Into the Void was hardly played at the Fragility USA tour. We really missed something special back then in 2000. La Mer did catch me by suprise-this time it performed as a Trent Reznor keyboard solo rather than a band piece. The transition from 'Mer' to 'Into the Void' is perfect.

Non-Entity and Get Down Make Love were played. I think the latter was skipped at an earlier tour within the last week. Non-Entity was a crowd pleaser both musically and visually.

The crowd tended to be in their early thirties average, respectful but also appreciative of the raw energy of NIN. They seemed to have a great time

Trent Reznor hardly spoke any comments at this show unlike some of the other ones during the past week. During March of the pigs i think, he threw the microphone to someone in the audience and said "here you go" while he did that which ended up being his only comments tonight. The audience member was barely audible.

An additional comment: consider yourself fortunate to see NIN at an outside venue/amphiteater as the acoustics are a welcome improvement over the sporting arenas that are hardly made for live music. The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavillion, called one of the best places to see a band in the Houston area, is one such venue and my first outdoor venue for NIN. As expected, this was the best show in terms of sound.

Dissapointments: just sick of hearing Suck, Burn, Gave Up, and Terrible Lie so many times. Just wish they would replace it Happiness in Slavery, Reptile, Every Day is Exactly the Same or With Teeth, and Ruiner. Other songs will do as well.

holy shit this show was so awesome! i dont agree with the guy a few comments above me, this show blew the one at the toyota center away! there were so many songs played live that i never would have expected, especially into the void and get down make love. compared to the show in austin a few months ago, and the show here in houston back in october, trent was very quiet, but still an incredible show non the less. during hurt, i looked at the lawn and as i every one singing alone with their lighters held up high, i got really sad because this was the last time that i'll see Him for a while.

Was that his guitar that he handed out to the front row?

We were in covered reserved seats and it was hard to tell what had gone on since the lights dimmed right he stepped forward. I think it was just before Hurt.

ill probly be the only person to say this or maby even see it for what it was, but the visual during non-entity (the new orleans song) was a fleur de lis all mis-shapen and deformed. a good metiphonre for new orleans. anybody else see that?


seen NIN 5 times now in the WT tours. best yet, crowd was great and just an "alive" show

For the second time in less than a year I wound up with a freebie ticket and tagged along with my son and friends to a NIN show. While I'm not a hardcore fan I do appreciate the bands' amazing energy and effort. I don't think anyone can say they are shortchanged at a NIN show.

its so god damn spread out
and it really sucks if you are in the lawn
i could barely hear the music
im sure if i had been in the pit,
i could give a non-bias review
cause the past 3 times ive seen nin its been like...
upfront and "inside" a venue

with that said,
the setlist was good, i guess
i could hardly hear any of the music
did not enjoy listening to non-entity
into the void and big come down were awesome
during closer trent was elevated by the screens
i guess that was pretty cool

i also would have enjoyed the big screens on the sides of the stage
you know?
like, when they have cameras for those of us really the fuck out there
would've been cool to see all the crazy shit going on the stage
and all that shit...

worst nin show ive been to
again, i REALLY hate the woodlands
and im super pissed they are doing this ampitheater bullshit
not to mention its 45 motherfuckin minutes out of houston

the woodlands fucking sucks
i hate everything about it
the mall, the school, the people, and so on

Sorry you had such a bad time. You could just stay home next time since it all sucks so bad.

The show was really strong last night but the lack of Video for tracks like hurt really lames up the show. Yea the effect blocks behind the band are cool and the LED curtain is very unusual, but I don’t think the show was quite up to par, especially for Trent’s standards. I have been a huge fan since 93 and been to countless shows. His power back then exploded the stage and it was dangerous just to be within 10 feet of him. Maybe I am just getting older and so is Trent but I think I saw him smile and laugh when he saw the old couple dressed in Goth down in front. As a devoted NIN fan I will continue to
follow Trent’s work I just think he should take a break, catch a second wind then come back and start bustin up equipment on stage like the old days.

well folks, i was lucky to have good seats...center section, row M, seats 29 & 30. Like NO ONE showed up (or bought seats) in Row L...and there were lots of empty seats in the rows before that so FOR ME I had a great unobstructed view and no problems with the sound. My friend said that maybe the empty seats were from the folks that were in the pit...I don't know but....

IT WAS MY FIRST NIN SHOW and I've been a fan since the early 1990's...just never got to a show. I was NOT disappointed. Trying not to be bias as a virigin, I must say, the setlist, stage, and energy was AWESOME!

I'll never miss NIN again when they come to Houston!! I'm sick that I missed so many other chances to see them in town...they show was so awesome, I'm thinking of catching them somwhere else here in the south before the tour ends....hummmm

THIS CONCERT WAS AWESOME. I'VE SEEN NIN 3 TIMES SINCE THEIR WITH TEETH TOUR STARTED. THE LED SCREENS AND THE LIGHTED FENCE WAS BY FAR THE MOST VISUAL EFFECTS I HAVE SEEN ON A CONCERT ALL THE SONGS WERE NICE I WISH THE WOULD HAVE PLAYED REPTILE INSTEAD OF BURN. THE ONLY LOW POINT OF THE CONCERT WAS THIS BALD SMELLY FUCKER WHO KEPT GETTING IN MY WAY AND WOULD NOT LET ME SEE THE CONCERT. There were a few suprises in the setlist, and I think I was the only one on the lawn who actually knew the words to 'non-entity'. And the suprise at the very, very end made the whole show an unforgettable night in (personal) NINdom.

did anyone else notice the guitarist freaking out and throwing his equipment around during head like a hole? thought that was a little weird.

yeah, aaron north went a little crazy on head like a hole. im pretty sure it was because whenever he threw his guitar the first time, he expected to pick it up and be able to play it. what happened though was that when he threw it the strop came loose on one end and he didnt have enough time to fix it. he played a riff or two with it and it sounded like shit, so he just threw it around into the amps and sang the rest of it out.

great show, i must say. setlist, led screen, everything. nine inch nails stuns me every time i see them, putting on one of the best live shows i could ever imagine.

This was my third time to see nin and you know it really wasnt bad at all.
The setlist was cool mostly cause of Somewhat Damaged, Non-Entity, Into the Void and Help me im in hell. I had never heard those songs live so that made it for me. Now I'll admit I dont think it was as cool as the club shows or the fragility tour but I do think the band is getting a hell of alot better playing together. I used to really not like Aaron North very much but after last night I think hes a bad ass. As for the visuals well they fucking rocked. I do look forward to seeing nin again when they tour next time cause im sure a few members will be returning but as for this round I think you can tell they are ready for this all to be over. Considering how much they have been touring who would blame them. I totally recommend seeing nin live now just as much as I did when I left the show back in 2000.

I was blown away by how good this show was. Aaron North is really cool to see live, I think he adds in a lot to the show. I really enjoyed seeing Josh Freeze play drums cause that guy kicks ass. I really liked the setlist, opening
with somewhat damaged was fucking cool I love that song, but trent could have said something besides three words to the crowd. But over all it was a bad ass show.

What a lucky girl I was to have pit two nights in a row.....

The Houston pit average age, however, was about 5-7 years higher than the Dallas pit. My Travelling Companion got up to the rail and said she never even got jostled. She said she actually liked the Dallas show better because of having to fight harder for position. Whatever.

Ah, but who cares about the crowd.

Wowzer! Another great and energetic night. In fact, I thought the energy level and quality of playing were about 150 times better in Houston. Travelling Companion disagreed, but it's all about the rail for her so again - whatebber.

I didn't say anything about Josh Freese in my Dallas post and so now I'll say... he's a hell of a drummer. But I have to tell you that whatever he was trying to do with that makeup didn't quite work because I THINK he was trying to do Ace Frehley or somethin and I looked back there and thought there was an Old Man playing the drums! :-0 ...so Ace Frehley turned into Old Man somehow......better luck next time, Josh!

Alessandro was a lot quieter and moved around a lot less during the Houston show but I loved his Bat Mask. Very fetching.

Maybe he and Jeordie trade off energy every night . Don't know if Jeordie got his B-12 shot or maybe was trying to impress the redhead he was dragging around the back of the wings during Bauhaus' set, but he was ON IT, baby! Whee! We even got a really kewl "Twiggy Head Slam" a couple of times which was neat. Good job and a complete turnaround from the "I wish I was in the Bahamas" face in Dallas. Loved the third eye, too.

Aaron was great AGAIN and his playing was FANTASTIC. Alas...I saw a definite "Uh-uh..ain't going into this crowd tonight" look on his face during March of the Pigs and knew we weren't going to get a stage dive last night, but he still burned it up. My Travelling Companion and I agree that the leather coat looks kinda hot but.....it's "HOT"! Meerrowwrr!

Trent was just infinite energy and enthusiasm again. I really don't know how he can keep that kind of momentum up. Being in good condition helps, but it's also a gut thing. He was awesome awesome awesome. He also came down into the pit at one point. Kind of like a "I need to be with my 'folks' for a minute" kind of thing which was kewl. Travelling Companion actually copped a bicep feel and says she's never washing that hand again !

Again, I thought the quality of playing was infinitely better than Dallas and the crowd energy was better too. The light show was a bit different and there was a lot more dry ice used, but that was fine. It was a neat effect and I liked it just as much.

Bauhaus again made me almost need to go home and change my clothes. Travelling Companion and I say our only regret is not being groupie enough to figure out how to go and worship at the feet of Daniel Ash.
O-H M-Y G-O-D. That man can play guitar like nobody else...and look hot as hell doing it too. And you've never seen a sax solo done better than by a fucking awesome guitar player in the coolest platform shoes EVER. And we worship David J and Kevin Haskins (for hanging in there) and of course the Amazing Peter Murphy. A great showman and an even better singer.

TV on the Radio - again, one of my fave bands right now. Liked them in the small club better earlier last month, but cleaner sound touring with NIN, they slowed the songs down a little last night which was GOOD and Kip actually looked a little happier. David looked happy to be playing the EnormaArena anyway and Tunde is so happily and completely carried away with his singing moment he's too kewl for skool. They are a great band. I wish everybody would buy their albums and make them the success they deserve to be.

At this show they used a grid-iron sort of cage thing instead of a straight screen and at the end of the show, it lowered back down to illuminate in big white characters 'NIN' with the box and everything - which gave me a feeling similar to when in V for Vendetta the thousands of dominos formed the giant V.

Fucking awesome.

i'm sorry for posting without going to the show, but i have two quick and very important questions.. what time did it start and end, including the supporting bands? and the time like it says on my ticket "8.00 pm" does that mean nin starts playing at 8 or that the supporting bands starts at 8? thank you

If I remember right, TV On The Radio started playing at 7 (for you it would be . I got there a little after and when I arrived they were already playing. Bahaus started playing right around dusk, and the set change from Bahaus to NIN took a little longer than expected. If memory serves me right, NIN took the stage somewhere around 9:30 (give or take 5 minutes) and was finished by 11. A little bit shorter of a show than last year's, but still powerful nonetheless.

Great pics Infection13! Thanks for sharing them. I'm not a huge fan of the layout for the amphitheater-type venues (nor am I a huge fan of sweating my ass off in this Texas heat), but NIN was worth it.
I had the best seat in the house- front row and center . I definitely enjoyed touching Trent when he came out into the audience after throwing the guitar into the audience. The fight for the guitar was right next to me. I wasn't going to bother since security always takes it away. My friend Billy was the guy who Trent threw the mic to. He was so excited, but then we quickly realized that the mic had been turned off. Oh well! It was still cool. I am pretty damn sure that Trent remembers Billy's face from all the shows that's he's been to.
I love TV on the Radio, and I thought they had a great performance. My only compaint is that once again the sound wasn't great. If I wasn't already familiar with their material I wouldn't have known what the hell the lyrics were because you couldn't really make out what they were saying. I recommend to the any of those concert goers who are new to TV on the Radio to listen to their album. It might give a better representation of what they are all about.
Bauhaus didn't disappoint, of course. They did some things differently from previous shows, but the dramatic element is so worthwhile. I got a bunch of the rose petals that Peter threw out into the audience- woo hoo- now they are getting crispy in my in the pages of my copy of Dracula. (Hey, I thought it was only fitting.) And yes, Peter's still got it!
NIN was amazing... as always to me. The set list didn't change much, but I didn't expect it to. I sang along to every lyric and enjoyed seeing the band so up close. I've been to so many concerts but was never front and center. There were a few moments where there was major fussing and pushing going on, but it was all good. Luckily, I had some really cool people and good friends around me. I'm so glad I've met them... they made the night so much more enjoyable.
Now, I'm on a break from NIN. I'm looking forward to more shows to come later

Haven't been here in awhiles, but my 7th show. Fourth and last in the With_Teeth 'series'. I had seats, in left section, 6th row. GREAT show, but doesn't compare to Verizon for me. That's just my opinion though. There were alot of mellow folks around me, and a few sat down, but we still had a blast all in all. Loved Jeordie's face painting!!!
