A: Fifty years after French colonial rule they still can't get the stank out.

Another great show, quite different from the previous one. From the opener ("Wish") you could tell the boys were on fire (sth I didn't notice on 21/2). The sound was EXCELLENT, loud, thick but clear (a bit trebly though) as if the P.A. guy got the hold of the venue's accoustics.
Aaron made his Ninja-guitar playing and Trent looked happy to be here.
The energetic high standard of the show's beginnings dimmed a little as the whow went on, but

The set-list was somewhat identical to the previous night's (would have liked more variety mahself), but we still got a few gems (like "Eraser" AND "Reptile" or "The Fragile").

Some assholes started to scream & whistle during "Hurt" (like in 2005) which ALMOST prompted Trent to stop the song. This reflected the general ambiance of the show full of "beautiful people" so full of themselves, even though they were still in diapers in 1991 when Trent made his 1st CD "Ah les jeunes branchouilles..."

At the start of HLAH Aaron encountered a problem with his guitar. I was close enough to the stage to notice he had a mean look in his eyes : he turned back to his roadie, then he started to "maul" his guitar, his cabinet (which almost fell onto the front row ) and whatever piece of gear that was his.
All in all another good show. No "Survivalism" tonight, but that's a good thing : the hip, trendy and generally stinky audience wouldn't have deserved it...

On reptile Aaron left, like guitar not working, trent played his part at the end. Aaron then destroyed teh guitar and pushed teh amp out of the stage.
Only was almost destroyed just before trent say something nobody I know understood about something he didnt like. Then he said "this is a disco song, you french ppl like disco right ?"
All the next songs were then almost destroyed.

Also ... MAN me and 4 other guests i chose were invited just before the show to LISTEN TO THE FULL YEAR ZERO ALBUM. Here fast hints: Hyperpower is AN EXCELLENT goddam intro with guitar 1:40 Vessel is a goddam Hip hop song with very loud noises, The great good is a fabulous scary almost instru with "Harp & Xylophone" The great destroyer ...... damn it's a classic rock song but at 1:40 it falls into an ubelivable 2mn of hard loud noises without senses. In this twilight is the slow song but very bad, too much noises and beat like in all songs. Hopefully Zero sum is an excellent almost slow instru to finnish the album. The warning got the end hidden immage, GOD GIVEN is the incredible song !!!!!!!! Disco song with scratchs and trent saying "Come on everybody, sing along, now : GOD GIVEN" really the most noticable song of the album, excellent. I attended both shows in Paris. Tonight’s show was way more incisive, heavy and dark. No time out between the songs, no useless greetings. Sound was good, lights were awesome. Definitely a great performance until something went wrong with Aaron’s rig during the second verse of Reptile.
He smashed up his guitar and went to the side of the stage and sat down, looking miserable and desperate as the technicians were trying to fix the problem.
After The Fragile, when he realised Aaron wasn’t coming back, Trent talked to the crowd, telling that 3 days ago he was on a plane when he heard something that really pissed him off or something… Then they started Only and he said: ‘No guitar on this one. Remix!’
They did a great job to carry on despite Aaron’s problems, which wasn’t easy (Trent even forgot the second verse lyrics on Suck…) Aaron eventually came back but he wasn’t in it any more and his sound was terrible. When his gear broke down again, he destroyed it and left for good.
Great show. Hats off.

Firstly, the veiled anti-French stuff from Cliff isn't very funny. And I'm not even French.

Basically, as usual Trent and the boys butchered every song from start to finish, you would thought subtlety might have crept in somewhere after 20 odd years, but no, the usual song destruction I saw on the Downward Spiral tour. The first half an hour was the best for me, great songs, delivered with power and aggression, and Aaron was almost stealing the show., even if he doesn't seem to play much more than crazy guitar noises, but thats what he's paid for I guess.

Trent's going alright for 40 something though, Aaron is a star, well he was until his gear broke down, Twiggy thingy, well he looks and acts like he was in the Bay City Rollers. Josh Freese, terrible, just a tub thumper, and the keyboard guy well he was pretty cool.

Still, that aside its the Trent show at the end of the day, and he puts a lot into it. He must really get off, getting all that aggression out, even if I thought the chucking the mic and mic stand was a bit lame, and a few guitars tossed about.

Pity there wasn't more the The Fragile, but a great set nonetheless.

He was funny when he did his bit of chat, said he hadn't been able to hear in one ear since a plane ride a couple of days ago, and he guessed the only way to sort it would be to rock our balls off or something like that. Introduced only as a bit of disco, and that French people like disco don't they. And then added "Remix" since Aaron had gone.

Great venue too and a very mixed crowd, old, young, goths, metal, "normal" people too.

My first nin show and all I have to say is this was AMAZING, I completely lost my mind, and the setlist kept surprising me (I hadn't read the reviews of previous shows, on purpose).
The Olympia hall is great, the sound quality is very good, it was hot in the pit but nothing unbearable.
The setlist was killer, the band seemed to be really into it and the audience too. I'd never been to any nin show before so I didn't know how the crowd would react, I was half-expecting static people telling me off for putting my arms up. However, luckily, I WAS WRONG. There was jumping and pushing all the time, even crowd surfing in the front rows, and lots of singing with trent in every song; I think the fact that the tickets were really expensive made that whoever was at that show, really wanted to be there. I didn't really notice Aaron's problems, since I was concentrated in the songs, singing and trying to jump and stand still.
If I had to highlight one single moment, it would be The Fragile. Everyone knew the lyrics and sung almost whispering (at least the people around me in the pit!), making this song sound perfect, incredibly beautiful and very intimate, given the small size of the venue.
I had an absolutely wonderful night and they blowed my mind. Unforgettable.

The show was awesome !
It was the second time I attended a NIN show, and I have to say this one was even better than the 2005 zénith (as far as it's possible !).

For me, all the energy came out of Trent, but I must admit I'm not that tall, and couldn't see the entire scene, I only saw Aaron passing by during Eraser... And, you know, this urban legend of the giant in front of you during the whole show is no longer a myth for me.

I had seen the 21st playlist, I am so happy I was at the 22nd show, I liked this one so much better !

Reptile was so loud, Oonly sooo Discoo, and Head Like A Hole exploded in our faces !

Everybody was so enjoying themselves... except the fucking nerds who blared "Ta gueule" during Hurt. Which was so touching (even thought it's not one of my favorites)

And Terrible Lie, Closer, The Becoming... Help me, I'm in Heaven ;^)

Anyway, I can't wait to see them again on stage, I will try to find another place to go and see them.

Best show ever.

Heads up: A full audio bootleg of the concert has been posted in the applicable thread on the spiral. I've only listened to a few of the songs thus far, and all seem to be quite nice. Only downside: vbr mp3s rather than FLAC, c'est la vie !

PS: I'll post a review later when I've got some time.

Did anyone notice that Placebo's Brian Molko was at the concert? He obviously liked it very much! (The picture doesn't show, but he did enjoy!) And so did I! Came from the Netherlands to Paris for two NIN shows...five more to come this tour!

Guess he was having his own little tour then..since he was at girls vs boys the night before....

Shit, i was hoping to buy that Single with mixes, but ....... actually it's USA only and nothing new yet.
