FUCKING ACE NIGHT! better than last night..more upbeat ....played

somewhat damaged,piggy(jumped into crowd with light..and handed out the mic ..! awesome!),march of pigs,closer,burn,suck,we're in this together now!,head like a hole,with teeth,hand,starfuckers,only,(can't see the fucking keyboard..coz of the smoke..lol)..day the world went away...dont you know what u are..etc...but anyways..fucking fun!..said we manc footballers should know how to chant....loved it...

tonight was the NIN concert for me after 14 years. it was awesome: well worth the wait.

Tonight Trent mentioned during Star Fuckers Inc how much the english love their chanting! He also said see you in the summer, this was apparently confirmed by a spiral person on the door- festivals and more club gigs perhaps?
He also got a hold of the light again and went down into the audience.

The lighting is great- shows what you can do with minimal equipment if you care enough to put enough thought into it.

I'm happy to report that Schteph and Slavetothewage made us proud with a little sing along when they caught the mike in the pit. And Schteph would like to report that even though Aaron is a small looking fella he weighs a lot when he falls on you!

An annonymous person would also like to report a hole in the armpit of Trent's shirt revealing that he is apparently shaving in that region....

Oh- and Ladytron are starting to get a bit boring!

Fucking brilliant show - Great setlist - way more intense than last night and the crowd were more up for it too. Pretty sure Trent was referring to Witha Teetha about being the last time he'd ever play it after the fuck up with the lighting.

Roll on Nottingham on Saturday !!

A few mistakes during awith ateetha and Trent couldn’t see they keyboard during the quiet part and sang, "I cannot see the piano" he said after the song might be the last time they played it. He also got the crowd to chant louder during star fuckers saying he had heard our football chants. Top night

Kicked arse. I only just got back, missed the last train of the night and had to wait 6 damn hours for the early morning one.

It was my first nine inch nails gig so I liked all of it, but the day the whole world went away was especially cool. Not so cool was some drunk girl next to me at the front puking before Ladytron had even came on. I think some poor guy got it down his leg. He stayed though. He wasnt giving up that barricade spot haha.

Oh yeah I like Ladytron too, I've never heard them before but its too bad they only played for half an hour.

Aaron's guitar solo sounded a bit weak too...might also have something to do with it

Went to both Manchester Shows and Monday was Incredible. From the minute trent walked onto the stage with the house lights still up and roadies still milling about to Aarons stage dive at the end it completely blew me away. Trent wasn't happy with the crowd on Sunday and had a sly did about Manchester crowds of old and so tonight the set list didn't let up until Hurt, no rest with La Mer etc, just full on. Also seemed a lot louder Monday as well?

Hillarious when he sang "I can't see the fucking piano" due to the constant smoke and back lighting during the breakdown of With Teeth and it was to my delight when he declared "i am never gonna play that damn song again" as it's the only track I have never got on with.

Starfuckers "don't you, don't you, don't you" sing along also didn't impress with trent saying "I've heard your fucking football chants and you can do better than that!" to which the crowd did pick up but a seemingly still unimpressed trent simply mumbled "Hmm, average"
His comment at the end "see you in the Summer" surely refers to touring Year Zero. MEN Arena beckons.

What can I say - amazing I had to get seated tickets but they rocked up there, was an amazing view to see Trent with the searchlight in 'piggy' was a brilliant set and show.

Wicked gig!

Totally loved it. And loved how varied the two manc. gigs were.

Highlight has got to be Down in it. Not a fan of that song on the album at all. But Live, they added an extra seven layers to it, and gave it an extra three minute outro of heavy guitary/electro noise with the drums going all out for a solid three minute manic all over the place fill. That song alone made the gig for me.

Looking forward to seeing them in London, hopefully with an almost completely different set!

Brilliant show!
Been a fan of NIN since Pretty Hate Machine in my Uni days, but this is the first time I've seen the live, and boy, it was certainly worth the wait!
We were standing about 2/3 of the way in - so out of the melee but with a reasonable view of the stage.
They filled up the place with dry ice again which with the lighting and the strobes made a great effect.
No Survivalism tonight, or Eraser, but they did play one of my all time favourites - We're in this together now!! If only they'd played Something I can never have too...
The overall atmosphere was amazing, there were several crowd-surfers - including one waving a bra (!) My voice is still hoarse from all the singing/cheering, the dry ice, and whatever it was that was in the bloke behind me's roll-up. .
As for With Teeth, its not a favourite of mine, and I don't think with much of the crowd either. Although people were obviously enjoying it, I think the crowd seemed less enthusiast during it. Maybe this coupled with the "I cannot see the piano" lighting problem prompted him to vow to never play the song again? Or maybe he doesn't like it that much either?
Was it my fevered imagination, or was there a year-zero ARG style morse code noise in the electronic static noise when the lights went up at the end?
Anyway, great night, see you all again when they next do Manchester.

Awesome - both nights were just amazing. Its even better that they played a varied setlist over the two nights! opening with Mr sefl destruct the first night. And the Somehwat damaged the second. Also Last and WITTN on different nights. Trent was on top form. The security guards laid off the pit after trent had a go at them on the first night and the chanting in starfuckers was awesome I dont know if trent was amused or not but it was awesome.

I saw trent enter the stage door on both nights. He arrived with Aron in a salford hire van just before the soundcheck on sunday. Then the whole band arrived on the tour bus on monday. Didnt get a signature or anything but it was cool to see them. But then the monday show made up for it when I caught Trents water bottle that he through into the crowd during HLAH! I have the water bottle that Trent Reznor threw. So I have been on planet fan ever since. It still has some water in the bottom too!!!

Have to agree, one of my least fave songs but it was the highlight of the show last night. I think it was a good "Terrible Lie" substitute, I was very suprised they didn't play TL...

The two stage dives were awesome too.

Loved it all the way through. I tapped a few people with a glowstick-so i apologise...great show, hop eto see NIN in summer.

I'd travelled with my best friend (A 4 gig veteran along with myself) from Ellesmere Port and 3 other people who were NIN Live virgins!!
All 3 of them were absolutely blown away, one girl saying that she could die happy now having heard NIN do Hurt live and was on such a high that she 'felt like she'd taken 25 ecstasy pills'

Trent's closing comment of 'See you in the Summer' gives clear indication of a Year Zero Tour so hopefully we'll get an M.E.N appearance this time round?

p.s. To the dickhead with the big hair in the fur coat with the enormous back pack on. Push through the crowd like that again without apologising and you'll get a fist in the side of the head. I was on fuckin crutches and almost fell over you ignorant wanker!!!

Urgh I hope not, the accoustics at the apollo are MUCH better.

Last night was *incredible*. Aaron's stage dive!! Oh fuck! He landed right on top of me! I was in awe of him all night, and i got to grope him, haha.

I can't believe how close Trent was...he was an inch from my hand, i couldn't quite touch him but it was brilliant to see him *that* close.

Opening with Somewhat Damaged! I guessed it aswell, hehe. I was so shocked though, I didn't even see the band come on stage...but ...all of a sudden, there's Trent! haha.

I was so glad they played Starfuckers. I really didn't expect it as it's been lacking lately but it was brilliant. shame Trent was impressed with us eh?

We're in this together. fucking hell!

& the two lads at the front who practically saved my life - thank you so much. and i'm sorry for occasionally almost ripping out your hair dude.

Monday's seemed much better than Sunday - much more action & livelyness. chaos it was brutal, but loved every second.

Further to Neon's transcript from our catch up last night. It was the first time on the barrier and its fucking insane!

WITT was amazing, I thought I could see it on the setlist but half-thought that it was the smoke playing tricks with my eyes. They don't play the whole outro, but it's long enough. Suck, Gave Up, TDTWWWA, the Starfucker's chant, singing during Piggy and helping support Trent on the barrier at that point, shitloads of eye contact with Trent... God, I loved it. Can't wait for tomorrow night now.

i can't believe i forgot to mention trent and the piano vision!

one thing i must say is that due to the fans in the smoke machine, the venue was fucking cold! i was sweaty as fuck in 2005, but the hottest i got to night was a nice warmess. it had nothing to do with the crush being tame (it wasn't overly brutal, but it was a good squeeze!). i was literally shivering for two hours in that venue! i think i'll wear a jumper next time....motherfuckin' smoke

Oh yeah completely agree, i had 3 layers on, lol and i was i fine...not too hot, But the July before it was fucking hot as hell.

me and my girlfriend were stood behind you at one point and we saw this yeti looking wanker too!..he was a knob..chatting with his mates while we were trying to listen..

Did the strobes for the first two songs mess with anyone elses head? They were pretty much non stop, by the middle of You Know What You Are? I was thinking 'man.... i cant see a fucking thing'. There was a girl behind me who i doubt could see much either. Her head was lower than my shoulders, god knows how young she was lol

Yes, the strobes were insane. Most intense lighting experience in the first 10 minutes ever. really set the tone for the rest of the brutal but brilliant performance.

Did anyone catch what trent said during the starfuckers chant? Wasnt it something like 'you europeans and football chants'? Also did he say he wasnt playing with teeth live after the piano incident?

I was there sunday night and I have to say that monday nights crowd seemed to have a lot better energy. Does anyone have any videos of HLAH?

Monday night was basically the sequel to Sunday night.

Big props go to the sound technicians - the sound on both nights was ferocious, yet perfectly stable. I've never been to better presented concerts, especially at that particular venue where I've seen other bands struggle with mushy treble. With so much layering, distortion and volume you'd expect things to melt away yet everything was so crisp and defined - I could hardly listen to the 'full' songs properly without extracting certain beats + riffs and listening to those independently. I'd have to relive both of these gigs again to fully appreciate what was going on... which is a fucking shame as that's impossible.

I preferred Ladytron the 2nd night after knowing what to expect. IMO their music is fresh and sounds very futuristic, perhaps ahead its time. I'll be keeping my ears on them anyway.

If Rezn0r is thinking about the M.E.N (which I seriously doubt) then someone needs to have words with him or Metropolis or whoever. Performing there would not be cool.

Yeah, I agree - i thought Ladytron were much better the second night, and i really liked their performance. Looking forward to seeing them on Sunday, again.
When i first heard some of their recorded songs, i didn't think much of them and could hardly see why Trent picked them...but live, their performance comes across pretty strong and, as you said, maybe ahead of its time.
They were a good start, i reckon.

& i really am praying that NIN never play the M.E.N...i'd be so disappointed. crappy venue..

and yeah, ena sucks. Keep it Apollo, or G-Mex if it's gotta be bigger. The thought of NIN performaing at a venue where all the staff wear yellow jackets is too unappealling for me.

I totally agree about the sound - absolutely awesome. So clear. Moments like the closer breakdown just shook every bone in your body. Im so pleased I got to see both nights stelist. I spent sometime hovering around the stage door as we got there really early to get down the front and saw trent and aaron on sunday and the whole band on monday.

I managed to grab Trents water bottle after he through it during HLAH so if anyone has a vid of that It would be really really cool.

I was near the girl that puked... right next to the dumb bitch. Oh well. The gig was amazing. Ladytron were really cool. Bring it on Year Zero!

I really enjoyed last night, but have to say i thought the crowd were a bit tame. It didn't affect my enjoyment of the gig but i certainly found it interesting, as it was the first gig i've been to in england. If this was the more lively of the 2 i'm glad i missed sunday!

Don't remember any mention that the MEN was a good venue. My point was that surely the fuck of images and projections that are likely to accompany the YZ tour would only be fit for a venue the size of the MEN?

during "piggy", Trent grabbed a light and jumped into the crowd. Now despite being right where he jumped in, I didn't take a picture. That image is still stuck in my head, though. Did anyone get a picture of that bit?

Those were ace gigs. I always shed a tear thinking about those couple of days. Me and my mate had a couple of cans each and a spliff outside the Apollo on the grass, sat amongst loads of other fans in the lovely weather prior to that gig. That was an ace day, we never even planned it.
