much better than yesterday imo. better flow, more energy, crowd was also more active. sound was again not that good, but i blame the venue.
they played a lot of old(er) songs including
get down make love
down in it
the becoming (!!! fuck yeah!!!)
they started with mr. selfdestruct - oh man, so much energy, brilliant opener.
heresy was also fucking awesome. thank god they didn't play SICNH, it was such a downer the other night.
spent €25 on a shirt.

i love sicnh and really neally appreciated it as a cool-down-song, yet this isn't the way this great song should be "used" for.

two words: JOSH FREEZE! that's one goddamn fantastic drummer. i was rather amazed at what he did infront of my eyes.
ok, and now the usual stuff.
first of all, a major thanks to the whole slovenian (current and soon-to-be) ETS team, especially ishtmail for patches and photos and.. well, all. and his girl. and dianne and her sister. and everyone else on the bus. fantastic trip.

i have to say i wasn't as "disappointed" by their set and performance because i was kinda told they are static on stage. well, it's what happened. i really enjoyed in what i heard. but that's just geek and nerd in me. by the way, anyone knows what movie is shown on the white screen while they play? in case that is not just some footage made for the show.

ok, the band:
we were standing more or less right in front of jeordie white that payed a lot of attention to us down there. either it was his usual staring at us, throwing pics or just showing off his guitar skills infront of the girls hoping for a [s]blowjob or two[/s].. kidding :D i was rather surprised at home much guitar/how little bass he played. cool.
from the beginning trent was acting like a gay whore with all that mimics of his but as soon as he got his buttcheeks tired, he became the good ol' man. i laughed a lot during "get down make love" at the way how he "showed" his love: imagine the end of "closer" on the AACHB dvd and you'll get the picture. this time, he aimed at aaron and the folks. speaking of aaron and water bottles, he kicked one in front of us and that was the only time us on the left got showered. i also think trent's been running A LOT up and down the stage. i don't mean left and right way but up (where his mic was) and down (behind josh and/or alessandro).
next, aaron was being stuntman and all - as usual. aaron as aaron, in other words. harassing speakers, running all over the stage, swinging his guitar.
alessandro came in front only while playing "mr. self destruct". otherwise, he's been back there silent. well, "silent". when show ended, he threw his small keyboard and laughed his way off the stage. i guess he was amused by the demolishing end of the show. you know, since aaron, jeordie and trent threw their gear, he had to do something, too.
overall - fantastic show. my throat still hurts. i apologize to all for acting like a major geeky fanboy - but i am one! rob passed us by a few times, too.
as for the people at the show, where we stood, there was no problem with people moshing. then again, we were too close to speakers, me thinks. i still hear that highpitched sound in my ears.
the place was great, though i expected the venue to be larger. eerr, from the inside. the outside of gasometer is massive. love the architecture.

- hello you german/austrian ETS member who got your AIR patch while waiting for two of your friends to come out of toilet. i think, you then stood just right of us. go you!

just a question .. according to all the year-zero-buzz there's some kind of hidden message on the back of the tour-shirts. the only thing i noticed today is that some of the numbers of the tourdates seem more "faded" than others.
and underneath the whole list, there's "24.25.1" very small printed.
can somebody decipher that for me?

awesome show, very cool setlist.
my favorite of the three i've seen. my clothes were soaking wet at the end and i've caught a fever, but it's totally worth the experience.

great show, didn't actually get to enjoy much the first three or four songs cause I was too busy evading the moshers elbows, but thankfully I was able relocate to a quieter spot later. I agree with the "gay whore" comment, was exactly the same thing I thought when I noticed Trent starting his "moves". I was like "wtf, is he practicing to join the Chippendales or something?" he dropped the act soon enough tho. I just wish they played the new single and/or TBOTE.
about Ladytron, yup the ladies were way too static onstage, they need to work on that, they've got that decadent, sexy, goth/synth babes band image but they dont have the moves. maybe it is what Trent was trying to teach them through his male stripper stunt...
and the movie playing on the screen was Suspiria by Dario Argento, an italian horror from the late seventies, probably chosen for its vivid colors and decadent, flamboyant images. I really dug that, knew it was Argento right away.

Down in it was killing me, Trent was as good as in his golden age, and Aaron is a genius, people might think, he just does all these moves just for the show, but he knows what he's doing, it has an effect on the sound, it's complicated, and he's not doing some faggy Jonathan Davis "clap your hands" show, he's got style. Whoever called him an asshole, doesn't appreciate music with guitars.

The concert was incredible... I've been at the arena 2 years ago and this one was much better.
The crowd was really great, no one pushed to the front row...
And the sweetest part was that they let us take cameras inside, which is unusual...
They didn't let us take vids, but I still managed to record a good portion of Piggy... The sound of my vid is awesome. I'll post a link on Sunday eve, as well as the rest of my photos.

i was on thursday, too, and enjoyed the different setlist very much.
no one mentioned yet that aaron was stagediving, i think!! during MOTP he jumped into the crowd, which was sooo amazing!!

Everything's already been said, more or less. The show was great, the energy was flowing and the nice Austrians didn't mosh or push us around too much. I had a great time and I (+my sister)'d like to thank ishtmail his girl, his sister and perchee for holding places and great energy during the show. You all rock!

I'd like to know how the energy of the crowd was compared to other locations (worldwide). Is the Vienna crowd different, more silent, more smart, more aggressive etc. !?

setlist was amazing. i put a playlist on my ipod some days before the 2 shows, and every song from that list got played, even the becoming and dead souls and reptile and fuck yes... guess i was a lucky bitch. and if they played WITT i would have died i guess.
liked the 2nd show better, cause i managed to get in fron ot tr, and seeing him doing the scary-as-fuck eye contact stuff, creeps the hell ozut of me. cant remember what song it was, but he was staring at a girl for about... an hour.
i was quite disappointed that there was no tr in crowd action during piggy. i really should not complain about that. excellent show, almost perfect.

It seems that the Friday night show in Vienna was different from the Thursday show. Your videos posted on the 4/29 thread are from the 29th show (not the 30th show)? No Italian horror film?

As promised, here are all the (good) photos I took at this show... There's 155 photos in all, plus 4 video clips. All the photos have been resized to 1024x768px.
They were all taken with my Canon PowerShot S1 IS camera at maximum resolution and quality, at ISO400, F2.8 and at the shutter speed of about 1/60 (differs from pic to pic), white balance at 'Fluorescent' setting and 'Vivid' effect. Flash was OFF, image stabiliser was ON. I photoshopped some of the pics that were too dark, otherwise they are unaltered.
I added a brief description to some of the pictures. They are all pretty good, so don't just click on the labeled ones.

They were all taken with my Canon PowerShot S1 IS camera at maximum resolution and quality, at ISO400, F2.8 and at the shutter speed of about 1/60 (differs from pic to pic), white balance at 'Fluorescent' setting and 'Vivid' effect. Flash was OFF, image stabiliser was ON. I photoshopped some of the pics that were too dark, otherwise they are unaltered.
I added a brief description to some of the pictures. They are all pretty good, so don't just click on the labeled ones.

so about 30 people from croatia was at the 2nd show.
I managed to get in the front of Trent.
the security was pretty much casual, when it came to cameras.
as long as you were not recording videos in plain sight, and using the flash, they didnt bother you.
I was a bit suprised how strongly they enforced the "no smoking" politics...
anyways, the 2nd show was much more intense. while during the first show you could pretty much watch it care free, the 2nd show was a constant effort to keep standing, since the preasure from the back was constant.
at the first show, I was one of the lucky ones who managed to get their hands on the microphone...
I'll probably be there for the next Austria or hungary show as well.
P.S. I really got pissed off by the spiral members. those are bunch of annoying fucks, that have nothing better to do than to moan.
and there's nothing more frustrating than a fat bitch rubbing her ass against you...

to make long story short: first spiral member that went in was checked by security babe that found a banana in fan's pocket. later you'd see other security guys fooling around with very same banana. LAWL!

And while my photos are pretty good, my heart shivers at the thought of how good they could look if I were parked in the centre instead of those TS members... but yeah, 30ish of us came, most of us didnt know each other.
before the show, I checked out the bathrooms, no usbs there.
I got some Red Bull, parked my ass in the front row and waited.
by the end of the show, lost every last drop of fluid out of my body.
I expected more merchandise to be available after the show, but only 2-3 shirts were there. and absolutely no posters or banners,.... what a downer.

I agree: WAY too little merchandise... I bought a shirt, and the booklet from WT tour (really nicely printed, too!), but I was hoping for some lithos, like 2 years ago...
Some people from my bus got their hands on the big posters that were hanging around the building (BYIT), but most of those posters were glued to the walls and only a few were put up only with the ducktape...
And bloody drinks were bloody expensive: 1 litre of mineral water for 5 euros... what a ripoff... Thank god the security in the front row had those buckets of water handy.

lucky - there was no banners, true. but there were nin stickers that glow in the dark though.
also - the audio bootleg came out. in flac, it's about 1,2gb, for those who do not care that much about the quality and all or are on lower bandwith, i made mp3 version as large as a little over 200mb. (yes, i know it's heresy NOW STOP IT!)
the quality is great, i must say. for bootleg standards, of course. in case it's not out from someone else by tomorrow and if you guys would really prefer it that way, i'll upload it to pirate bay/demonoid and later emule.

btw. the coolest thing EVAR on these two dates was the trent-cardtube to see if the lights are installed high enough. they even gave "him" a nose. how cool is that?! ;p

First Vienna show (closely followed by the second one) has definitely the strongest feeling/sound/amosphere/everything.
Yesterday´s show in Milano was great. I like Italians much more than Germanic/Slavonic nations.
Due to the illness I can not continue. If I recover till wednesday I´ll possibly let ya know how was the Franfurkt show like.

It's not AATCHB or BYIT, but it has some historic value, especially if you were there... The bass and drums are a bit quiet (especially for me, since I was standing right next to the bass speakers in the front row), but the clarity of the vocals is incredible.

Yes, I had some problems with that myself while recording the vids (see them on pg 2 of this thread), I was standing in the front row real close to the bass speakers, and the Becoming vid is totally wasted, because the bass was so powerfull... What a birthday present!
Most of my folks here in Vienna didn't know I was back home already. And for big hopes to get some special spiral entrance my birthday was “demoted” to be “just” a NIN-gig and therefore spent mostly at the venue with my boyfriend by my side. I knew that TBCD had been played the day before, so I couldn’t anticipate that anymore! After we were let in at 6:45 and had reserved our places at the very front (right), already happy about the venue’s comfortable size, I went over to the mixing desk to totally spoil the evening for me and got a glance at the setlist. It looked like the one at the Brixton Academy on 10th of March. This put me in a sort of relaxed anticipation of getting to “see” the probably same show, from a different view. So birthday-surprises were now down to the bandmembers. Survivalism rmx was played to say hello to us.
Going through Ladytron’s setlist for the second time was not as bad as I had expected. It was rather amusing and I used the time to get comfortable with a not perfect sound, because I’ve been stood in front of the speakers that deal more with the bass than anything else.
After an endless break I’ve heard pilgrimage, my first little surprise (at brixton it was the new flesh/pinion intro). I saw Aaron and Josh taking their positions on the foggy stage and heard some messy-ness that lead into Mr. Selfdestruct. In the very last second Trent appeared from out of nowhere to grab the mic. What an explosion of energy! There it was! The start to the journey to good old TDS. The becoming was the highest point of it.
How unbelieveable: last followed and ended up in being the beginning of the journey to the broken. At Brixton wish and gave up have been played much later. But I found it was a great idea to blast all the broken-energy out at once in order to achieve more focus, more listening in the crowd for what was to follow! And it worked...
HMIAIH was the link to the Adagio of this symphony we were invited to listen to: eraser-reptile-total ad libitum-la mer-into the void. Into the void linked this listening experience to the next and 3rd movement which contained my beloved no, you don’t and thee surprise of the evening: get down make love, followed by down in it! These songs sent a wave of pleasure and joy through the whole venue!
Hurt stays a miracle to me. The live-versions I’ve heard/hurt so far always (and I mean always) contain the good old save home-feeling I get from listening to NIN and still seem to drag me back into my memories of my first encounter with NIN. How is that possible? I know it is, but I also know how much strength and work it requires to achieve this “keeping it alieve”-effect.
THTF and HLAH seem to give the crowd enough time to let the band leave. It’s sad to let them leave, but I think the current HLAH-version gives them the right to go.
Highpoints?!?: each song had at least one highlight. But I definitely won’t forget how nice it is of TR to think of us still-fans amongst this big range of different fans. I mean whatever he played before la mer, at Brixton it was a reminder of the frail, this time it was real ad libitum, it just offered a glance into his love for music. How considerate.
TR appears so free in his oh so perfectly arranged surroundings, which I think is a consequence of the best support he ever had on stage. Although I was a bit worried about Jeordie. Saw him in the city centre that day and he looked totally knackered, but that’s touring. Wipes you out!
Aaron’s guitar playing is superb, I couldn’t avert my eyes. Very focused! I can’t remember on which song that happened but there was a moment when I could see Trent staring, observing Aaron. La mer reveiled a good working relationship between TR and Aaron.
I only happened to buy a ticket, but I simply feel rewarded for my many years of faith! I’m thankful to be a witness to moments when hard work, as performing requires, is just worth it!
Most of my folks here in Vienna didn't know I was back home already. And for big hopes to get some special spiral entrance my birthday was “demoted” to be “just” a NIN-gig and therefore spent mostly at the venue with my boyfriend by my side. I knew that TBCD had been played the day before, so I couldn’t anticipate that anymore! After we were let in at 6:45 and had reserved our places at the very front (right), already happy about the venue’s comfortable size, I went over to the mixing desk to totally spoil the evening for me and got a glance at the setlist. It looked like the one at the Brixton Academy on 10th of March. This put me in a sort of relaxed anticipation of getting to “see” the probably same show, from a different view. So birthday-surprises were now down to the bandmembers. Survivalism rmx was played to say hello to us.
Going through Ladytron’s setlist for the second time was not as bad as I had expected. It was rather amusing and I used the time to get comfortable with a not perfect sound, because I’ve been stood in front of the speakers that deal more with the bass than anything else.
After an endless break I’ve heard pilgrimage, my first little surprise (at brixton it was the new flesh/pinion intro). I saw Aaron and Josh taking their positions on the foggy stage and heard some messy-ness that lead into Mr. Selfdestruct. In the very last second Trent appeared from out of nowhere to grab the mic. When I was walking in, I noticed several tour posters (the generic black ones that were adapted for each city) with an additional page taped to them that said "LIVE," listed some dates and possibly other information. Unfortunately I didn't have time as I was too busy trying to hurry up and get to the front so I could stand still the entire evening, thus not only ruining the view of those who stood behind be but also preventing them from taking breath-taking photographs.
So did anyone manage to read what was written on them? After the concert, they had all magically [s]been stolen by foreigners[/s] dissappeared. I figure it was either announcing the festival dates, or (hopefully) a radio date.
That said, I think the crowd at Paris II was by far the best audience I've ever seen.
I also think the Munich concert kicked quite a deal of ass.

It's my opinion that this question cannot be answered objectively and that too many personal factors influence your memory of a concert. the location was absolutly perfect....there were not so much of people. we got NO goodies, like they told us. i think no one won a cd or dvd...because there were no usb-sticks, like they told us. regarding the goodies and the usb-sticks it was a really shit.

They were all taken with my Canon PowerShot S1 IS camera at maximum resolution and quality, at ISO400, F2.8 and at the shutter speed of about 1/60 (differs from pic to pic), white balance at 'Fluorescent' setting and 'Vivid' effect. Flash was OFF, image stabiliser was ON. I photoshopped some of the pics that were too dark, otherwise they are unaltered.
I added a brief description to some of the pictures. They are all pretty good, so don't just click on the labeled ones.

you know it was a bit strange on the 30th.
some guy in front of me in the line even had to hand off his cheap-flashmp3-player (he was dressed like the typicall rawk-dude, maybe that's why) and when they checked me i got in with my big ipod (and there're cameras and recorders smaller than the apple-device). i guess i was overdressed. ;p

I had no problem whatsoever with bringing in my camera. They checked it and decided it was harmless enough.
I was also in the front row with the security guard right next to me, and he didn't say a thing, except when it was obvious I was shooting video, not just photos.
But I'm quite sure that such a free camera policy is more of a rarity in usual concert venues. I've never experienced it before (2 years ago at the Arena, we were nearly strip-searched for cameras and recording devices).
I must admit, I was a bit nervous about the S1IS too, it looks pretty big and bulky and almost like an SLR... But, like I said, no problem.
And I enjoyed the show a whole lot... I took photos in about 50% of the songs, and I wasn't taking photos all the time, I maybe 'wasted' 5% of the show time to take so many photos. Now I can enjoy the photos forever and I have a great collection of visual memories for one of the best concerts I've been to... (not to mention the bootleg). I just wish I'll be so lucky next time...

Yeah.. the security guy in front of me, I was only a little more on the right that your piccies point of view, caught this guy recording with a miniDV, and holy shit! that wasn't pretty. xD
not to make fun..but seriously, that dude was in third row, did he really think he was gonna make it??!

The security guy in front of us was constantly on some Austrian/German girl for taking videos/pictures and at the end (perhaps even during Hurt) went off on a tangent about how it's enough and she can't just keep taking pictures throughout the concert--which seemd counter productive. I would have felt bad for her, but I have no sympathy for people who spend an entire concert with a camera in front of their faces (or in the faces of those around them).
Actually, the Austrian security sucked more than the security anywhere else I've been. It's the only place I've seen such overly-ambitious jarheads jump into the audience (that's right, into the audience from the front) to deter people snapping a few photographs or making shitty cell phone videos that undoubtedly will only end up on youtube.
