What a show. Way more focus on the uptempo stuff than the last 2 shows I saw in 2005. It was great. My personal highlights - Last, Heresy, Reptile, Only, The Beginning Of the End. The band was tight, seems to function together even better than 2 years ago and I like them better than the 1999 band.
Ladytron was very good too, loved the bulgarian lyrics. The Volkshaus in Zurich is one of the best locations I´ve been to and tonight was another great show there. Cheers.

Dang, I still feel like screaming HEAD LIKE A HOLE all day!
I'm still feeling like the luckiest guy on earth!Ok, I just came home from my first ever Nine Inch Nails concert!
I'm exhausted, my ears are still numb and my throat is still sore.
It was ... surreal! Somehow, I just couldn't believe I was actually standing just a very few meters from TR.
The concert was great though. They played a lot off TDS and Broken including Last, which I hoped they would play. Definitely one of the highlights this evening. I was surprised to hear Heresy, Ruiner and Suck.
The setlist was very much to the point with only two "more quiet" songs (HMIAIH and TDTWWA).
Gave me the opportunity to sing/scream along as loud (/wrong?) as I could and to simply rock my head off.
Well, I'm still kinda shaken by the experience. I'll stop here and come back tomorrow with more information and pix.
BTW: I got the impression that Trent seemed somewhat "reserved" tonight (I could be wrong, though), but after reading about the loss in his family in TR's current blog, that's surely put into perspective.
All in all an experience which I'll never forget.

can't recall the exact setlist, but they didn't play Suck that early. Ruiner was after March Of The Pigs and Piggy and Help Me I Am In Hell was earlier, probably pretty much in the middle of the show.
The show itself was mindblowing. I've seen them for the third time now, but I believe, that this was the best show so far. Great energy, a very good setlist and the Volkshaus is fantastic for a band like Nine Inch Nails.
I expected them to play a little longer though and I was a little bummed that Trent didn't say a word in his first ever appearance in Switzerland

i think it's interesting, and completely understandable, that trent didn't do hurt. if i was him i doubt i could have made it through that song.

...actually i should learn right now, but the sudoku puzzles in today's swiss magazine 20Minuten seemed so much more interesting... made me stumble over this, so I thought I might as well scan it instead of sitting by the window and drink a coffee:

The day after ...
I am still caught up in the amazement of the show!
Let's look back again real quickly:
After having some problems finding that lady who handed out the spiral tickets, we were let into the venue at around 18:45. That was only 15 minutes before the doors officially opened, but I felt it was early enough to get some of the best seats in the house.
I had never been at a concert in the Volkshaus before and I was shocked / amazed to see how close to the stage I could get standing in the first row right at the barrier. Then I knew even more that this was going to be the perfect evening.
Since a lot of people had already gathered in the middle, I positioned myself a bit to the left where I still had a good view where Trent was going to be, plus I really wanted to see Jeordie in action.
At first, it seemed like there weren't going to be too many people down on the floor. And I was surprised how many people chose to go to the balconies and sat down while there was still more than enough space down on the floor.
However, as 20:00 approached, the floor started filling up and then Ladytron took the stage.
I hadn't heard anything from Ladytron before, but I actually enjoyed their set quite a lot. The crowd didn't seem to get too excited, but they showed their appreciation with some polite applause.
I'll probably check out some of Ladytron's releases pretty soon.
After about 30 minutes of setting up the stage for NIN, the band pretty much appeared on the stage out of nowhere. Just when I realized that the intro to Somewhat Damaged was coming out of the speakers, Jeordie already stood right in front of me and was immediately followed by Trent and the rest of the guys. And from there it was just ... surreal!
(Sorry to use that word again, but that's how it felt to me and it's kinda hard to put in words anyway.)
As it's already been said, NIN didn't give us much of break during their set. Where I was standing, people started off a little slow for my taste. I don't really need to be in a pit, but I wanna have some fun, especially when I'm seeing my favourite band for the very first time!
It didn't take too long for everybody to get into it, though. Going into Last and Heresy, we were already rocking our heads / dancing / jumping and screaming our lungs out. I was standing to some French speaking guy who did most of the singing along apart from me as far as I could see, but I could tell everyone around me was really having fun and enjoying every bit of the rare opportunity of seeing NIN live.
My personal highlights were Last (why didn't they play that song for so long?), Suck, Piggy (my throat went sore after that one) and Head Like A Hole. But seriously, EVERY song was a highlight to me that evening!
I really liked Jeordie's playing bass (became quite a fan of his ever since he joined NIN) and his interaction with the crowd. But of course it was Trent who ruled the stage. It was simply unreal to finally see him perform live after about twelve years of being a fan already!
Thanx again for this incredibly great concert!
After the show had ended, I got myself some merch and then headed straight home because I had to catch the last train.
Let me add that I was pleasantly suprised by the good vibe throughout the whole evening. I didn't really know what to expect, but it was definitely very enjoyable and there seemed to be a lot of cool people around.
Aight, that's it, I guess, with my "quick" look back.

the show was amazing. since the dissapointment from greenfield festival, they're playing here in switzerland
we entered the building at 20:00 and ladytron played allready. it was time to get some beer.
after that we headed to the floor. i thougth that there will be a lot of teenies on the show, but i hardly saw someone. nice peacefull crowd.
as they started i was in heaven. great lightshow, the sound was clear, and the setlist surprising. unfortunally they didn't played hurt.
funny thing is, i saw jordie and josh freese on the same location two years ago with a perfect circle. and now the same^^
did someone saw this crazy guy on the seats (right side of the stage)? he was acting like crazy, and was sweating all over his body.

yeah, we saw the sweating guy from the front row of the other side of the balcony, where we were (thankfully not his side, haha). he was doing that even before ladytron was on stage and through the whole show after that, I don´t know how he managed not to pass out of exhaustion, that was more action than a regular workout at the gym.
Monday in Zurich was my first NIN show and all that I can say is that... it was GREAT!!!!!!!! I had such a great time and my ears are still not at a 100% functional..!!!! I'm still shaken by the experience and I'm still not able to connect myself with the "real world"..!!!!!
Can't wait to see the band in Rock oz'arènes...
ps: Yes OneArmedVolta I saw the crazy guy on the seats...I was seated near him.. !!! scary

I was in Zurich too to see NIN for the second time (first was in Belfort the year before), it was one of the best show i ve ever seen. I was just in front of Trent and it was hard to stay on the same place but i was lucky to meet nice tall guys to protect me!! I'm not sure but I think to have heard "collector"... I'm in a hurry to see them again at Avenches probably.
