My brother said they started just before 10 but he would have been a "little" bit tipsy.

It was around 10pm, yeah.

Ta muchly Sam 89, just wanted to check if starting times are the same for all gigs... heading out again tomorrow nite! :-)

ETA thanks to you too Ryan!
Bricklayer
Thats a pretty damn good set. Looking forward to Tuesday night! Kinda hoping for Somewhat Damaged again... i just love that song live :)
Master Traveler
OK.

Best, GIG, EVER. Holy shit, NIN absolutely ripped the fucking shit out of each and every song of the set.

I was against the barrier with my girlfriend Kate and met up with ergh fuck, I think Tosh (Europe/Perth girl :P)? (Just had a total mind blank...sorry!).

I don't think anyone was left unsatisfied tonight! And thankyou to Europe/Perth girl for being so generous and giving Kate a pick from the show, you are a fucking legend (PM me those photos if you read this!).

-marky

EDIT: Actually if anyone has a spare left-over ticket stub from 14/05/07 please PM me. I missed out on getting mine back at the end of the show!
Oh and guess who just spur of the moment bought 3rd show tickets as well! *giddy* :)
great show, and i really think that his not playing closer and hurt is a step in the right direction. Now if we could only get suck and gave up removed for good..
it was super sweet to hear msd later in the set rather than as an opener. as usual deadsouls was amazing. what the hell happened to the becoming though? More importantly, the highly elusive were in this together. but honestly, great show...no complaints, but more fragile would be sweet.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Best set list ever
they played soooo many songs that i have been dying to hear live!
Eraser was fucking brillant!
Into the void was amazing
and last was.....a song i've always wanted to hear.

So glad there were no hiccups and everything went smoothly...the audience and the band were awesome and just fed off each other.

I FUCKING CALLED THIS SHIT!!!!

ARRRRRGGHH

I can't wait till tomorrow!

heh this is like London all over again

I pwn you all!!!!!!!!

Heh i post it again!!!

Didn't see Rob Sheridan anywhere, the curse Trent was talking about must definitely have been lifted :)

BEST SETLIST EVER!! Even if Christo disagrees he's a pom and can DIE.

Also I think there is love juice on my precious Harry Potter doona cover, right over Snape's face......or should I say pubis?

Might need to bring that one back TR is kinda hairy and the evil fangirl riding me like a dolphin last night and the one wearing lace gloves next to me tonight would probably post pages of shite if they knew where the On button was.

heh.

Isn't this thread for only the people who were at the show? (or their designated representative)

That show rocked.
Way to go danielle for catching that tamborine.

Great to be at the barrier next to mafu and lady k. Very nicely coordinated leftward shuffling.

Great that trent had a fantastic time too.

Cool to see Val again.

Saw hughman hanging around in the street, looking shifty.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Rob spent most of his time at the mixing desk taking shots.

Nice kick of the water bottle by Aaron onto the mixing desk too!
Bricklayer
tonight was awesome.
so glad to hear last, eraser, mr self destruct and into the void. much better than last night's show.
so far i'm not going to tomorrow's show, but i'm tempted now. wish i knew what the set list will be so i can decide. anyone got any ideas? ;)

still, that was awesome. i've seen nin 5 times now, on the fragility, with teeth and this tour, and this is definitely the best show i've seen.
Bricklayer
holy crap did tonight's gig rock or what!! Better setlist, higher energy (plus I was in the mosh pit just in front of the main desk, which helps, compared to last night right up the back on level 2).

i like Trents "thank you - we finally got a good show. I was starting to think we were cursed. I almost gave it all away"

BRING ON TOMORROW NIGHT'S SHOW!

close to being one of my top 5 gigs of all time
Master of the Ninth Arch
"Finally a good fucking show. I was beginning to think we were cursed. Last night I was ready to give up and take up gardening. You guys alright? Okay, here's a disco song for you."

Last nights show had me shitting myself at the general awesomeness, Ruiner blew me away, etc, but left me shitty and embarrassed to be associated with that heckler.

But it couldn't hold a candle to tonight's show. It was fucking unbefuckinglievable. Fucking.

First of all, the crowd was awesome. For starters, there seemed to be almost no clowns dressed up in vinyl and studs and makeup. Second, this crowd seemed ten times more into the music than last night's crowd. The mosh pit last night was more like a dance floor. Tonight it was a maelstrom. And yet, it was almost 100% filled with nice, considerate people, as far as I could tell. There was a bit of pushing, but whoever was doing it wasn't near me. To the guy who gave me powerade and offered me a pick, you're awesome.

The music was ridiculous. It seemed to be either new stuff, or rare live stuff. And it just kept coming, high energy song after high energy song. Tonight was Trent getting the anger of last night out of his system, and he did it in a good way. A great way. He was loving it. So were we.

So were fucking we.

The highlights were:

HYPERPOWER!: What a fucking stonking, stomping hyperpowered way to start the show. The band just came in swinging, and connected with every punch.

Last: Fuck yeah. I'm so pleased I got to see this live. Ruiner last night, this tonight. The only song I really, really fucking wanted to hear that didn't get played was WITT. It'll probably get played at tomorrow's concert. Right now I'd happily pay for a third ticket and go tomorrow, even if I do have to get up early on Wednesday. Anyway. Last. Awesome.

Something I Can Never Have: Not one of my favourites, but they really made this into something awesome live. The only "quiet" song of the night.

Me, Im Not: Ridiculously good. Trent plays that shit on a FUCKING SLIDE GUITAR. NIN and slide guitar. It's a wet dream I didn't even know I had.

La Mer/Into The Void: Fuck yeah. This concert was like every song I never thought I'd hear live. And this one was the highlight.

Wish: I don't know if anybody noticed, but Trent didn't play guitar on this last night. Tonight he did, and it sounded even awesomer, if I can mangle the English language like that.

No You Don't: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr Self Destruct: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dead Souls: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, of course, Head Like a Hole went off. The entire crowd got their second, third and fourth wind all at once for this song.

The Good Soldier is missing from that playlist. They definitely played it, and it was awesome. I can't remember exactly where though. We got every one of the new songs that have been played so far tonight.

So yeah. _Fuck_ yeah.

I'm sure there were people who were disappointed by the lack of Hurt and Closer. Personally I didn't mind. I don't go to NIN for the Hurt singalong. Tonights playlist was like nothing else. It was unique (so far), and I'm so fucking glad I was there. One to tell the grandkids about, and all that.
Grand Inspector
Wow. That was a fucking AWESOME gig. It totally made me squeel like an underage schoolgirl (calm down, Jeordie!). Made up for last night. I totally said we were going to get the "London Show Syndrome" where the night after a shit gig is fucking awesome a la 8th and 10th Birxton shows. Not as good as that gig (which remains the best gig I have ever witnessed) but definitely in my top 4 out of the 15 times I've seen them.

Trent and co were REALLY into it tonight and you could tell they were loving it. Capital G was MILES better than it was last night (but then again that was its first time being played) and Me, Im Not is a fucking AWESOME live song bar the minor hick up. But seeing as it looks fucking complex to play I totally didn't care.

Bahaha for Trent messing up the Last and Burn lyrics. You made me LoLLerskates *HUGZ* <3

After going over to Florida to see them and get the gig cancelled by a hurricane, and after last night, I thought that my international NIN shows were cursed. I am happy that's not the case.

Obviously the 1hr 30 long sound check paid off. Sound and lights were great and even Sareena Maneesh were much better tonight.

AND NO RAPE IN THE LOOS TONIGHT (unlike last night...as far as I know)

Well done my bearded friend. Well done.

EDIT: Also, sets without Hurt FTW
Master of the Ninth Arch
Wow, what a show. MILES better than last night, just an incredible set list. I feel very lucky. Every single Year Zero played so far (yes I also confirm Good Soldier, update that setlist), a full half of Broken (Last is incredible live, incredible), lots of nice treats from The Fragile... and Dead Souls to boot. Damn.

Very much makes up for last night. Trent put in a few words about that, "finally a show where nothing fucks up". Much better crowd than last night too, you could really feel the love, to be cliched about it. They just ripped into it right from the start.

No Closer, no Hurt... but I really don't mind. They'll both probably show up tomorrow. Only two tracks off With Teeth also, but personally, that's not a problem.

Oh, and for those of you keeping score - no spiral goodies for this show either, but they did go in 30 minutes early.
OMFG just got back, although i had laryngitis i couldn't help but sing along, the inclusion of eraser and mr self destruct were quite honestly priceless, the ending on head like a hole was great and energetic, two songs before HLAH trent said "its great to be back and have a good night for once" or something to that order quite honestly i was maggited :P haha better post coming tomorrow after work, i really do need sleep right now because i have work in the morning, thanks all goodnight
Master Traveler
Just got back... So Fucking amazing. Like everyone's said so far it was an amazing setlist, honed to perfection. The lights were so much better than last night, the place looked like something from an early NIN film clip like Wish, MR SELF DESTRUCT! Perfection. Trent said he almost gave up after last night to "become a gardener". So glad he didn't.

Friends are trying to talk me into going tomorrow, I'm totally tempted.
And I got home to my Spiral membership card and With Teeth Poster.

I think it's a sign
Master of the Ninth Arch
Yeah, I'm pretty much ready to buy the first ticket offered to me for tomorrow's show.

The show was fabulous. Great setlist - I FINALLY HEARD LAST I NEARLY WET MYSELF - and the crowd seemed much better tonight. Security also looked like they'd worked out how to handle a NIN crowd. I watched from the balcony and it was the coolest (not literally unfortunately) spot to watch from, seeing everything unfold underneath.
Grand Pontiff
That setlist sounds fucking incredible. Lots of Broken, some TDS and Fragile jewels, and lots of new stuff and Dead Souls. Thats what I call a lucky gig to be apart of!
Grand Pontiff
Anybody got any youtube clips or anything from this show yet?

I've got some videos, working on getting them online as I type. Including one of Capital G.

There was also a Capital G video from last night's show, check that thread.
Prince Adept
i just know schteph mafu and christo have been outside the venue since at least 8am today
Bricklayer
anyone else hope that Hurt has been dropped for good?
Bricklayer
Awesome show!!! Best gig I've been to.

As the crowd rolled in I said to the Mrs that the crowd looked more 'alive' than the previous night (maybe they didn't have a full day to get pissed) and the atmosphere was fantastic and it came across in the way the band played and the crowd reacted. (and we saw a great catch of the tamborine in the balcony too)

There was hardly a sound during Something I can never have which was a big relief following the crap the other night during Hurt.

It was good to see Me, I'm Not able to be played tonight but I love hearing Help Me I'm In Hell live and was rapt to hear it two nights in a row.

The night was great as it was, but then it stepped up another level from No You Don't onwards, the Metro was on fire by the end.

I'm still thinking about tonight, but if I can't make it, I'll still be happy at having been there last night.
Master of the Ninth Arch
rhinowing wrote:anyone else hope that Hurt has been dropped for good?
For good? God, I hope not! But giving it a break, making it rarer so it feels special again on the times they do play it, yeah, that wouldn't be a bad idea.

I think the song is great, but I didn't miss hearing it.
Grand Pontiff
This show was fucking wicked. Last and Into the Void were amazing to finally hear live.
I stood up on the balcony on Aarons side with naut and Mr and Mrs eatyourblud. It was nice to have a bit of room to boogie, but it was still fucking hot up there.
LOL at the guy who blew me a kiss from the floor, you out there?
I got lots of little crappy clips that i'll get around to posting in a few days.
In the meantime here's a still from Last:

Words just don't do justice to the fucking insanely great show last night!

If fuckheads keep screaming during it, who knows? I would like to know what satisfaction is gained in pissing someone (whom you paid $40-50-60 to see) off.
Master of the Ninth Arch
Webtickets still have tickets for tonight's show. I'm so very tempted.

On one hand, if they play WITT tonight and I miss it, I'll be pissed.

But on the other, it feels a little excessive, going to a third concert just on the off chance that one song will be played.

Then again, it's NIN, who knows when they'll be back? Well, September, but would they play anything other than the shows they're making up in Sydney?
Bricklayer
Hey all. Great show indeed.

A friend of mine has been good enough to post my review on his blog.

Head on over for a look:

http://onski.blogspot.com/2007/05/nine- ... metro.html

Special thanks to 'sickamongthepure' for his awesome shot as mine turned out terrible.
Last night was amazing indeed. I shan't be repeatative though.

I was right next to Danielle who caught the tambourine, so very very annoyed but happy at the same time. Also annoyed that we got the roadie to throw one of Josh's sticks up to the balcony after and missed that too, lol. Typical female catching skills....

It was really good to see Trent smiling and enjoying himself, especially after he thanked us. I think it made everyone go off just a little bit more...if that was actually possible.
Great show, nice group of people in the crowd. Note for those heading down for Tuesday night avoid standing near the back right of the bar near the entrance to the bar, unless you feel like constantly be hit in the back by the bar staff carrying slabs. It was ok the first one or two times but on the 10th occasion it was a bit much. Please Metro get a better beer delivery system.

Makes me wonder if sunday nights show had too many spiral/ebay ticket purchasers in attendance.

Excellent show!
wait, i thought they played 'the good soldier' last night... am i on crack?
Bricklayer
sickamongthepure wrote: I stood up on the balcony on Aarons side with naut and Mr and Mrs eatyourblud. It was nice to have a bit of room to boogie, but it was still fucking hot up there.
Were you in the corner of the balcony where Trent was trying to throw a water bottle to, only to keep hitting the speakers?

The band was good at getting water to the mosh pit (when they could), if only the slack security guards were doing a better job.
Bricklayer
good soldier was played... after eraser i think

the new songs add a different dimension to the show i must say. especially me, im not.

the tail end of the show.. after wish, was just mindblowing

crowd was insane

and it was funny how during most piano bits the crowd was kinda silent, as a result of sunday night haha
Master ad Vitam
You all probably know, but there is a pic of Alessandro and Trent on the current page from last night, during Me, I'm not.
Bricklayer
First ever NIN concert last night.

It was absolutely superb. Highlights for me were Last, March of the Pigs, Something I can Never Have, Eraser (!!!), La Mer, Wish and Suck.

I'd heard reports that Sunday night wasn't so great, so it was nice to see the show go well. There was the minor glitch in Me I'm Not, but they got through it fine.

After running around looking for a good vantage point, I ended up in the mosh pit for the majority of the concert... that in itself was an experience. Mr. Self Destruct was a great song, but for some reason the only thing I remember about that song is suffering from a serious case of squashed-ness. Managed to work my way up to about 4 rows from the stage by about halfway through.

Left the show dripping wet, barely able to walk straight.... but hey, it was worth it!

Only disappointment was no Closer, or any songs from the latter half of YZ.

It's interesting, though, what songs were played:

only 3 from each of TDS and TF, and only 2 from WT, but, incredibly, 5 from the Broken EP. Also, the 6 songs from YZ came from the first 7 songs of the album :P
Bricklayer
I hope someone got a video of Me, I'm Not. By the way, great Capital G video.

Heyyyyy :)
Bricklayer
so the report of trent playing me, i'm not on a slide guitar, did he play it on one the first time they played it live? or is this the first time he's done it? it didn't really sound like one the first time, but i guess the video wasn't the greatest quality ever, so it's possible.

great setlist, glad everyone seems to have had an awesome time last night.

trent signed one of my photos at the M&G.. he commented that he forgot he had a beard until he saw the photo!
MikeyLiz
I was in the mosh pit for the majority of this one. Can anyone tell me what the hell happened to that mic that got thrown into the crowd by Trent???

I was yanking on the cord too, and there is no way in hell all the roadies could have got it back. Did they just release it or what??? I wasn't that drunk either, I just don't know what happened to it. Just some random thing, that I have been wondering about.

Wow, I feel fulfilled. Yet I have a new found emptiness. I want NIN to come back, I WANT MORE!!!
Master ad Vitam
I was watching it from the front row, the mic didn't come back of course, I didn't actually see who got the mic, but the end was ripped clean off the cord, but eventually they reeled it in after a few minutes.
I was really surprised, i guess there weren't that many people actually pulling. Although the guy did have a proper gig on it.
It was just the one guy, the big nin security guy, he's probably a great fisherman, too bad he lost his bait and didn't catch anything.

Hey tired faith, i think i was talking to you, unless there were two guys hiding tambourines under their shirts
i'm cam, the guy who mimed punching you in the face for that tambourine!
again, well done. :)
Bricklayer
I was in the second row (behind my shorter-than-me girlfriend) to the slight left of Trent. Best fucking show of my life.

I also got a tambourine right at the end of the show and had to hide it under my shirt while i stood in line for merch. I pulled it out a few times to show people and they all just said "put it away before someone mugs you".

When I met up with my girlfirend after the show she was so excited because she got a pick. Then I pulled out the tambourine and she was speechless.

Why do I get all the love in the world?

Well worth the trip from Adelaide(represent, yo!)

I'm still psyched about it 3 days later. WOO!
Prince Adept
there were a couple of dudes fighting over the mic, one of them eventually yanked it off
Bricklayer
At the end of the concert I was lining up for merch and the guy next to me was telling someone that he was the one who took the mic off the lead, but some guy 'kicked him in the guts' and stole it off him. He tried to take it back, but he 'wasn't sure where he had hidden it'.
Master of the Ninth Arch
funny thing was (when the mic was out in the crowd) the venue security guys looked like they were going to try retrieve it (with force) and the nin bloodnut (people have been calling him TR's security guard / tour manager / John) was shaking his head at them saying 'it's ok'... i think the venue guys had no idea what was going on but the nin crew have obviously seen it hundreds of times over...

*edit to add I use the term bloodnut in the most affectionate way possible...
Master of the Ninth Arch
For posterity sake I'll add that a recording has been uploaded (by monkeyboy) to dimeadozen.
Master of the Ninth Arch
I know I am uber late here...just thought I would add my two cents

ok, so i'm posting this partly to toot my own horn, and partly to get something off my chest.

i got a review of this show published in jmag, the triple j magazine because my friend was doing photos of the show for them. on it's own, this is pretty cool.

Image

only, that's not the review i wrote. the second paragraph is (well, mostly), but they added an entirely new paragraph from what i submitted to them.
what i wrote was:
wysht wrote: I’m watching the smoke build on stage and as it grows, so does my excitement. A marching chant starts up, joined by a throbbing bass distortion. Then the guitar and drums pound in, and we’re thrown into the world of Nine Inch Nails without warning. The excitement continues from there. Having previously toured only in arenas and festivals, watching NIN play such a small venue is something else entirely. “The bass goes bomb”, Trent sings. And it sure as hell does. Like the venue, the set list seems chosen just for the fans. New tracks mix with classics and rarities for nearly two hours of lights, noise and destruction that feels like 20 minutes. And I can’t believe it’s over.
i know editors always change things, but that's not so much changing as just writing your own thing and sticking my name on it. i probably wouldn't mind so much if:

* it wasn't nin, a band who i love so much, who i saw twice on this tour and they were two of the best shows i've been to for any band and the two best nin shows i've seen. however, even though i do love them so much, i only wrote such a good review of this show because it was so damn good, and everyone else who saw them at any of the shows agreed with me. even people who saw the show where he went off.
* it hadn't been so obviously re-written just to rant about trent's "diva" antics, which had no relevance to the actual show that was reviewed.
* and this is the big one: what was written about those "antics" was actually true.
o yes two shows in sydney were cancelled, but as jjj themselves revealed when interviewing trent it was because he had lost his voice and couldn't sing.
o yes he cut one song short because people were yelling stupid stuff out and interrupting it. but he didn't stop because they were singing along, he stopped because they were yelling dumb stuff like "what are you doing after the show trent?" which was ruining it for everyone else in the crowd, not just trent
o he didn't end the show there, he just stopped the quite song he was doing on his own, and got the rest of the band to come back onstage with him to finish off the set with something loud and heavy.
o people were chanting "you are a dickhead", at the guy who kept interrupting trent and ruined the song for everyone else in the audience. i didn't hear one person yell "trent is a dickhead".

clearly another case of never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
just wanted to bring that up here in case any local nin fans end up reading this review and get as annoyed at that first bit as i did.

still, i did get published in a national magazine. woot!
