I made you a Finland. But I eated it.

A truly amazing show this time. Dead Souls. The Good Soldier. TGS was so amazing it should be included on the tour DVD/BD/HD DVD if there ever will be one. The crowd was TOTALLY with it. Only NIN fans were present, even though it was a festival gig. The drunken kids had pretty much already left home, or passed out, since NIN started at 9.15 pm (21.15). They played pretty exactly till 10.30 (22.30.), but still longer than what the show schedule announced beforehand, leading to a hilarious incident where the end fireworks of the show went off during Hurt, right in the middle. Trent paused the song, looking very surprised, stated "Well, this is a first", but seemed to take it with humor (unlike some other less pleasant Hurt interruptions he has experienced...) - he watched the fireworks with the rest of the crowd (they were right ahead of him, behind the crowd - and then went on to finish the song.

Lots of good humor from the band, they got the crowd laughing hard a few times, their attitude was really laid back and cool. The new setup for "The Great Destroyer" is impressive, with three of the crew with laptops, sitting down, and generating the insane noises. Wow.

What a show. A killer, in comparison to the spring show in Finland, which wasn't bad either.

And to hear Dead Souls... Lot of the NIN fans didn't even recognize it and asked around for the name.

Fucking hell, the show was awesome. AGAIN.

The setlist was great with highlights such as TGD and Dead Souls. The sound mix was great, one could enjoy the rock as well as the noise. The crowd was fucking nuts. The band was kick ass as always. It was also nice to see the visual production with them.

Someone should get fired for launching the fireworks during Hurt. God, what morons. Thankfully, Trent took it like a pro.

Wow, we've been in Finland a fuck of a lot this year. Maybe I should get a place and a flat-mate here.

Hey Trent, I'm moving out of my current flat soon...

My first ever "in the audience" gig (had lousy seat ticket last time on April) and I finally understood what's the 'thing' with gigs. The chaos and the pits of March of the Pigs were honestly one of greatest things in my life (which means they were either great or I don't have a life...), but the few slower tracks, like The Good Soldier and Me, I'm Not, were kinda pointless 'cos there's really nothing else to do than bust some stupid jams or take pics of the band... Oh and the fact that I've never liked TGS means that I can't/won't even enjoy it. Bleeh, I've got my adrenaline and I wanna spend it!
Sin and Dead Souls were surprises to me, especially when I thought the setlist is gonna be tight "hits and YZ-stuff" due the festival performance and 1'15 hour of performing time. But I was wrong, fortunately.
The goofs were really amusing: seems like Only is always possessed with some technical issues (last time in Finland Trent's mic broke down during the first verse and it's happened many times before if I remember correctly). The fireworks looked really good, but I guess those work better at Elton John concerts. I really wished it would have started raining during Hurt, with fireworks and sweat on the skin it would have been orgasmtronic.
Only disappointment was the lack of The Fragile, none songs of my fav NIN album was played *saaaaad panda mode*. But it really doesn't matter, there was so many great moments during the gig that I would have to complain for hours to make it look like there was something actually wrong with the gig. There really wasn't. Nuh-uh.

Btw The Ark (who were performing about two hours before NIN on the same stage) sung the chorus of Hurt during their song One of Us Is Gonna Die Young. It fit in pretty well even when their song was kinda positive sounding, but it was about death and... stuff. So.

Btw pt. 2, it's 10am now and I haven't slept for the last 24 hours, so I really can't think of writing better than this.

Yeah, it was fucking awesome. Again. I was worried beforehand that it might not be so great due to a festival enviroment and whatever, but holy shit, was I wrong. The sound was great and the visuals rocked, I really liked the screen they had, it really added an extra element to the show. The crowd was really into it too, there were no moronic drunken kids to spoil the fun. Also, TGD!

All in all, like I said, fucking awesome, EASILY the best show I watched. Too bad I only got to see up to the good soldier, thanks to having to get on the last train to Oulu. Still, it was so much fun I can't really complain. Just amazing.

Friggin' kickass, that's what I'll say. Last night on nin.com's picture blog I was still rather wordless.

The guys above pretty much brought all the relevant points into light. For myself, however, I have to say I wasn't 100% pleased on the sound, even though I was most of the time pretty close to the mixing booth. It wasn't really muddy or anything, but many times I just couldn't make out them bubbling basslines. But it's a fairly minor gripe since everything else just was great.. destroyARRRRRRRR!!!!!111oneoneeleven

So. Ankkarock is over. I ended up being there only for NIN. First I have to say that the stage was really high. I mean REALLY high, I was right at the railing and could see Alessandro’s head once in a while, but Josh was out of sight the whole time. I was on Jeordie’s side and he seemed a lot more mobile than before. Because of the height of the stage, I didn’t feel as strong a contact with the band as I have before.

The show started with ”Hyperpower!” followed by ”The Beginning of the End” and a lot of posing for the photographers that flooded the area between the railing and the stage. The beginning of the show was really intense, no chances to catch one’s breath were offered. Trent’s little speech was nice and I can imagine his record company doesn’t really like him saying stuff like ”If you can’t afford to buy our records, feel free to steal them”. Everyone else loved it, though

The screen-thing looked nice when it was down, even though it wasn’t dark yet the first time. The set list is a mess in my mind, but the one in NINwiki seems right. I loved ”Me I’m Not” and ”The Good Soldier” which I was really hoping to hear. ”Only” got a few new lines because of problems with the lights. I think the wall of screens that was at the back of the stage in Russia was here also, but didn’t work.

”Hurt” begun like always, it’s a very beautiful song and I personally can’t understand the people who complain about hearing it too many times. Anyway. There were fireworks. It was an odd situation, at first Trent chuckled - or at least smiled. But the fireworks didn’t stop and Trent seemed not so happy anymore. When he fell silent, I feared he’d leave the stage. But he continued. The pause felt really odd, but after it everything was ok again.

I am bruised and kinda tired. I should be getting ready for my trip to Stockholm, but just can’t right now. It was so good to see the guys here again.

I had a great time. This felt a lot more intense than the show in April, I loved the new songs, I loved the old songs. The guys were amazing, the crowd was great. Got some pictures that I'll upload in a moment.

I was in the seconf row 'til Wish and then I had to leave because of the stupid train.
I was right front of Aaron (thanks for watering me) and I only have couple good pics, most of them are of course... Of Aaron. I danced the whole time like crazy. The best show ever!

It was so amazing. To hear Me, I´m Not, The Good Soldier and Dead Souls, really loved them. The setlist was good, but I was hoping they would play something from The Fragile.

The light-wall or screen or whatever looked great. For example when they were playing Eraser behind it. Just so fucking cool.

When the fireworks started during Hurt I was afraid Trent´s going leave the stage, but fortunately he took it like a pro.

I´m really out of words here, because it kicked ass and was by far the best show I´ve ever attended. My friend almost had to help me stand after it ended, ´cause I was shaking so much.

So intense, fucking amazing!

I was too at the festival just for NIN. This was by far the best I've been to, because it was the first time standing in front of the stage.

Anyway it started off, when we left Arctica Sonata on 20.00 on the other stage to get close to the stage - and we did, though there were about a hundread people already waiting. We were about in the 5th row from the railing between Trent and Jerodie. There were two louder finnish guys imitating to speak british english and making fun of some emo-like girls who were still sitting down as the people around them were all standing. I got a faster heartbeat, when somekind of a pre-concert song started playing, with an "anticipating" baseline. I don't remember if there were more of music after that, but a few minutes after 21.15 NIN started off with Hyperpower and it all went unexpectedly crazy: the crowd was all floating back and forth and left and right and jumping! so that the first five or so songs into the concert Trent asked "you guys allright?", "YEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" was the answer In the other half it was a bit better and people - at least around me - jumped more up and down than to the sides.

The public was very good and i too got the feeling there were lots of people there who mainly came to see NIN. The aggressiveness of the beginning suddenly became pleasant when people smiled back, when there was a "harder collision" or singing along with the band. As i found out, most of NIN is very very dancable, especially Closer and Only, so it was loads of fun

All comments made were nice to hear. The wait in Hurt didn't seem to be awkward at least to me, just unexpected, and the fireworks were kind of nice - as i wasn't really sad during it, the feeling didn't hit through, what some might suppose for this kind of situation. The sounds loudness was perfect, not overly loud, as some other bands had - hurts the ears.

All in all everything was super , was thinking of seeing them in Sweden next (tour i mean), as i'm from Estonia anyhow - an even longer boat-ride .

Yep, he looks like a hyperactive emo-band leader on that . My friends brother said that NIN is an emo band, i said "definitely not", but then again i'm 22 now so i'm out of touch of what emo exactly means .

Some things i also forgot to mention: it was cool how Jerodie in the end of some song of the first half of the show tuned his already "ringing" (or how do you call that?) guitar up and then down, and then muted it and ended the song.

For the youtubers, the user Tomatjoe and some others have uploaded new videos, and there'l probably be more and more as things sober up in the land of the reindeers

whats with the armbands? did all the bands wear them (like a backstage pass thing) or is there a possible ARG link here? i noticed from penholders photos that they had an image on them.

HEHE YOU just beat me to post about the SPIRITUALIZED track as a pre-concert song! When it started playing I knew from it's length that NIN would 100% certainly start right after it would finish. And Spiritualized was very fitting for me personally, since I was fucked up on Oxycontin (took a nice shot of five eighties) right before the show. Helps my back during shows and keeps me going!

I remember seeing four t-shirts and one hoodie, could be two or three more. One of them was light brown/green, had text Nine Inch Nails on the front with some wrecked lines all over it and the tour dates on behind with some wrecked line effects on them too. Then there was a black one with dark blue NIN logo on the front with those line effects and the tour dates behind with white, if I remember correctly. I can't remember what rest of them looked like, but I think they looked better than the ones they sold earlier this year (I still couldn't bother paying 30€ for one t-shirt).

There was also a black girlie t-shirt that had the words "Art is resistance" in blue on the front.

The green one and the black one. The green one also says Helsinki when it should say Stockholm...

i noticed that one of the tracks played a bit before the spiritualized track (not sure if it was right before it or not, anyway) was the cure's 'six different ways'. it caught my ear because the same cure song was used as the first song for clearing out the arena after the april gig in helsinki jäähalli.
(i'm 100% sure since i have a video clip from the jäähalli where this song is being played.)

Great great great! Daylight nin sounded amazing and the crowd was really into it. No time to tell more but I was really impressed and surprised by the intensity of the show. I was the crazy girl swinging my red hankerchief around in the air in the front rows! Everything was absolutely amazing, once again. Thank you nin!

Wow that really shows how high it was. Good thing that this year the video cameras weren't in so bad place that you couldn't see anything (like last year I saw only couple of flashes of Al Jourgensen when Ministry played).

10 days after, I still think about the concert. It was my first time in Finland, my first time at a festival, and the second time I saw nin live (the first one was in Paris, February the 22nd 2007), and I must say both the Ankkarock experience and the NIN show were great.
We saw Maj Karma (a surprisingly enjoyable show, great!), Millencolin (I knew them from before and it was great fun!), the japanese group (which I didn't like at all), and The Ark (it was ok, they're entertaining).

After The Ark, we run to the front rows to get a decent spot, and waited. After an hour, I couldn't believe how close to the stage we were. Even if it was really high, I knew Trent and the guys were going to be very near... After the audience had called for NIN a few times, Hyperpower came in and everything started.
Being at the front, it was all very intense, everyone was really into it and until a couple of days ago I couldn't even remember the complete setlist! I have to highlight the politeness and kindness of the people around me, it was all smiles and a great atmosphere in the middle of all the chaotic jumping and pushing. At one point, a couple of huge guys suddently started to push really hard and bruise everyone, but they were quickly taken out of the pit by the security guards.
When they played Closer, I felt I had some eye contact with Trent. It was weird because I know it's probably impossible, but I had never been so close to a stage in my life... anyway that was a great moment for me!

I think the sound was worse than in a closed venue, but it was still amazing. The setlist was great and I was gladly surprised because they played several songs from YZ. These ones were KILLER and flowed really naturally live, unlike what I thought they would. Now I like Year Zero even more, the live experience takes the songs to a new level.
Daylight was fading away as they played, and we heard Hurt almost in the dark. Pure poetry!

And Trent said "we'll see you soon" right before leaving the stage. He's been saying that all over europe, right? I can only dream about what that could mean...
