Great show. Trent seemed to be in a good mood, despite the long bus drive by night from Stockholm to Oslo and the show in Sweden the day before. He thanked us several times, threw water bottles and even his tambourine into the mosh pit (after TGS), and the audience sang the "and everything's allright" part of March of the Pigs in the second breakdown in the song. I think he also changed the lyrics of Gave Up from "the last thing left I just threw it away" to "the last thing left I just fucked it away" (or something, not a big thing, but noticeable 
).
One of the highlights though was when he started talking about how much better the European tour has been this far this time around compared to the spring tour earlier this year. He talked quite a lot before The Good Soldier, and said something like this: "Thank you. The last time we where in Europe it felt llike we were here for 15 months. It was winter and cold and by the end of that, the Europe thing didn't seem like a very tempting thing to do again. But this time it's been fucking great. This song is off our new album", and then they went on with The Good Soldier. Trent didn't say anything about stealing or downloading Year Zero.

The one thing missing was a few more TF songs in the "greatest hits" part of the concert, since we didn't get any songs from it in Oslo in april either. Wish or Gave Up or both could have been replaced by some Fragile songs to make the concert perfect.

What an AWESOME show. This was the kind of NIN-show I expected in April, not that the April-gig wasn't any good, but it seemed like there was something missing back then. Yesterday on the other hand, was just perfect in my eyes. The only thing to complain about was the length of the concert! For some reason, I was expecting a few more songs when I heard Head Like A Hole and realised it was going towards the end.
I was ecstatic when I heard the intro for Sin, I had always wanted to hear it live! Dead Souls was also really cool to hear. As Houseman says, I also wanted a few Fragile-songs, The Wretched, Into The Void or The Big Come Down would've been great. But oh well =)
It was nice to hear Trent finally speaking too. He didn't say a word at SS.
We were lucky with the weather as well, it was a very nice evening in Oslo yesterday. =)

I have to agree about Trent's mood. For me, the concert really kicked into when the screen came down and they played some of the new songs. That was incredible.
Houseman: You're right about the change in the lyrics to Gave up. It was very noticable.
During the intro to Dead souls, some older guy asked me "You look young enough to know these things, what record is this on?" After he got his reply, he said "Any concert where they cover Joy Division is a good concert!" He seemed to enjoy himself, as did most people there.

They opened the whole thing with Somewhat Damaged on Sentrum Scene, Oslo in April..
I really liked to see people of almost all ages at the show, from 14-16-year-olds to people in their twenties and even up to forties, standing next to each other and enjoying the music together. Quite impressive that NIN has something to offer both teenagers and moms and dads.

The show was great and everything (if not: more) you can hope for in festival circumstances.
I just don't understand why you need 3 (three) cameras in frontstage and screw up the view for the first rows.

I personally didn't feel the show was short at all. So much better than the one in sentrumscene though, was probably what made it for me. The thing with the length of it though, I think they started playing exactly on time 2145, and they played pretty much all the way into closing time for the festival area, so they probably just weren't allowed to go on any longer. Well, I don't know this for a fact. Someone told me after Head Like a Hole that the area was closing in like 10 minutes so they didn't believe they'd come back out--not realising they hadn't played Hurt yet.T.Lopez wrote:The only thing to complain about was the length of the concert! Always could have gone for more The Fragile or Year Zero tracks, of course. But really happy with this one regardless, and that's taking into account I only arrived there like 2100 and didn't see any other bands.. also I'd gotten a parking ticket for 600nok while I was there. :D

Beautiful show! If anybody saw a jumpy guy with a big/heavy shoulderbag(!) in or right behind the mosh pit, that was me. Yes, I believe the show's been pretty much summarized by you guys. Thank you frantic666 for your fine pictures. I didn't take any pics after all, but it just would have been redundant posting them since they probably would have sucked anyway hehe.

By the way, did anyone read the review at side2.no? Had to laugh while reading it, the journalist obviously didn't know anything about the band he or she was reviewing. The article says that NIN played a lot of songs from The Fragile... They didn't play ONE single song from it. It also says that the entire band is from Cleveland. The site gave the show 4 out of 6, though.

You're right.. The reviews of NIN on side2.no was in general pretty laughable IMO. They can at least do some decent research before tossing out their bright (naive?) opinions.
I met some acquaintances (fans of Tool) whilst on my way to Oya on wednesday. According to them, the concert was OK, but they've seen them better. But I guess it's kinda hard for them to be objective after seeing the band so many times.

That's Gave Up.They didn't even play Aenima. I was waiting for it, expecting it to make the concert complete, but when they started tossing out the drumsticks and stuff after Vicarious, I was SO disappointed. The sound wasn't that good either, and in the middle of Forty-six & 2 I had to leave my upfront-spot because I had a couple of complete morons behind me, making it impossible to enjoy the concert. To me, Tool isn't the band you're moshing to. But oh well, the songs they played were good and it was an OK show. Saw them at Roskilde last year, which was one of the best concerts I've ever seen, so this was a bit of a disappointment.amaranthus wrote:You're right.. It starts at 44:10. First there's some rough interviews with people, chatting about NIN, and then it goes through Hurt in a typical "TV manner". Not bad stuff at all.. I wish there was more of it. An entire show of NIN this way would have been awesome. After all, they were filming almost non-stop. The camera going back and forth in the air on that wire, not to mention the crew filming. I bet somebody is enjoying all that footage.

NIN - Hurt part of the program keeping it up till wednesday, then taking it down to preserve space. Feel free to share, I've paid for this with my tax money, as I am conserned.
