I gotta say, this was the best show I've seen them put on. I felt like they, especially Trent, really poured their souls into this performance. Every song was unrelenting in it's intensity and delivery. Trent talked for a moment during the encore, and said it was good to be home and how New Orleans very much still feels like home. He said it was good to see the city coming back, and then introduced the other band mates. Oh, Trent also joked he was afraid NIN was cursing New Orleans and Voodoo Fest. Because back in 2005 when they were to play, Hurricane Katrina happened, and then this time in 2008 it almost looked like the same was set to happen with Hurricane Gustav, But nothing stopped this show, whatsoever.This was a superb show, and the pit was rough as hell. Way more intense than it was in Dallas, which is where I first saw them. Great energy and show all around



Oh, and I know because people like to know these things:
-Trent tossed his mic stand during the second verse of March Of The Pigs
-Chucked the micro synth at the end of Head Down
-Robin tossed water, i forget when
-No Hurt fuck ups
-No technical difficulty fuck ups!
-Oh and in case we haven't figured this out, the bathroom scenes during Survivalism are pre recorded footage, cause there are no indoor bathrooms at voodoo, only porto pottys

Robin looked like he was having a stroke during the entire show but he threw water at us so I forgive him.

The show was quite good. I'd have to say that this time around, the big come down was my favorite. It was nice to see the great destroyer and the good soldier, since I got vessel last time. Robin looked like he was dying the entire time. I dunno whether he was drunk or what, but the left side of his face looked awful, as if he had had a stroke at some point.

However, Trent put on a great show!

I saw NIN in Dallas for this tour two months ago, and this show definitely outdid it. They really put everything they had into this show...and the Great Destroyer kicked so much ass.

I did not want the show to end:(

I posted more at NIN.com but holy crap. Best show I've ever been to. Outdid themselves from two years ago, and that says a lot because until last night THAT was the best show I'd ever been to.

I'd give my left nut for a good bootleg of this shit; can someone make that happen?

The thing was sponsored by fuse tv, so i'm sure the entire show will be on their website in a few days, and then eventually on the voodoo fest website and youtube.

As expected, last night's show was awesome. I especially dig the new light effects. The swirling smoke was just mad beautiful.

Hurt with the huge audience was absolutely lovely. Everyone around us was quietly whispering along. *tear*

I love NOLA and come here a lot, so this trip is like my pseudo coming "home" too. Being recognized by bar staff (o_0) and popping into fav food joints has been really fun.

Incredible show. Absolutely amazing in every respect. This was my first NIN show, and they totally eclipsed any band I've seen before.

this was amazing. i was maybe 10 people back on the right side, one person away from the rail, rocking my tulane tee and my new girlfriend, who after going through all of this with me has definitely earned "keeper" status. I cant wait for the bootleg of this.

I only wish Lil' Wayne would have got his shit together and been on time and looked like he remotely cared he was back in NOLA, cause between him and thievery going over they cost us about 30 mins of NIN.

First time I've seen NIN at a festival, so it was definitely a new experience - and obviously a new experience for a lot of the crowd, watching reactions was fun.

Awesome to see them testing the screens beforehand, I got some footage which i'll post later.

A pity that some of the stuff they tested gave away what would happen later, but i guess there's not much they could do about that - most of the crowd didn't even know that they were seeing spoilers, so it would have been considerate if they had made an announcement.

I wish you were right, and that my eye wasn't keen enough to spot them.
The timing of the glass-smash appeared to be late.
And the logo at the end was cropped (I guess the stage was smaller than usual, and they were too lazy to program a smaller version)
I spotted a few parts of the screen displayed the wrong thing, but they're pretty good at fixing them on the fly though.
I forget which song it was, but one set of lights was also flashing out of sync with the rest.
Oh, and the pinion flashlight wipe was just as buggy as ever.
I swear I don't go to these shows just to point out flaws!


Given the lax security, I expect a video recording to surface soon - hopefully not just of the fuse screen, but beggars can't be choosers.
The person in charge of that screen was a tool, and obviously not co-ordinating with the band at all.
Someone should have handed them the red rocks fan DVD and told them "this is what is going to happen, work with it"
Instead, we get pointless zooms during the Greater Good, and Ghosts 19 - and completely ignoring the spotlights during the outro.
What kind of camera operator doesn't understand following the spotlight?

This show has proved to me that everyone should see the show from far away at least once, it had just never occurred to me that the top and bottom Ghosts screens would line up perfectly!

I couldn't see a damn thing during Survivalism, did they do a live crowd feed as usual? Did anyone get any pics?

Oh, you were probably standing right by me, dude. I was wearing a gray Smashing Pumpkins t-shirt.

Yeah, I was pretty pissed about Lil' Wayne going overtime. But it was freaking hilarious how they cut his mic off after the last song, so no one got to hear whatever the hell he was preaching about at the end. The girl behind me goes, "Oh, no! He might be saying something spiritual!"

I hope I'm able to get some pictures up on Flickr soon, and video on YouTube. This was my first NIN show, and it's blown every other band I've ever seen out of the water. So amazing. I'm just getting my voice back.

It was amazing. The best show I've seen. I can't wait for this to surface as a boot. I don't care if it's the fuse screen.

This show brought back the vitality and energy I remember from the Self-Destruct/Outside and Fragility tours. Watching the screen calibrations before the show was about as good as the show itself! I couldn't stand Aaron North's guitar "playing," which is a big reason With_Teeth shows left a bad taste in my mouth. I'll take Finck any day! He is fresh, familiar air, and he gets the music without resorting to cartwheels and somersaults.

I was very impressed with the sound, too: clear and pristine. I was also happy to see many youngsters who knew what Nine Inch Nails is all about. Strangers were even impressed from the "Wows" and "Holy Shits!" throughout the show. If I had to pick favorite moments, it would be the orbiting smoke, "Terrible Lie," and the morphing of George W. Bush into John McCain during "The Hand That Feeds." (My choice is Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party) Such timely intensity is what New Orleans needs right now to keep the momentum going. We STILL can throw the biggest and best parties, and Halloween is Friday!!!

never had been to a Nails show but was absolutely blown away. "Only" was my "holy shit" moment of the show but was just stunned by all of it. the light show for all of it was insane and i'm dying to find anything that captures even remotely clearly some parts of it. especially "Only" because i can't stop talking about how he disappeared into the light and all that. just fantastic.

After changing planes in multiple cities with temperature changes of about thirty degrees each time, I'm now sick as shit. And this is going to be a total nin-fan geek-out moment, but being able to hold my friends in my arms during Hurt and In This Twilight at Voodoo Fest makes it all well-worth it.

How could I forget to post about voodoo fest? This show was all Trent, from what I saw. He just just stood out the whole time with great energy, especially on the marimba. I even saw some big grins on his face. The crowd was a pretty cool mix that had some good energy. Always great to hear someone walking out of the pit saying "Someone pissed on my shoe." The warning grew on me a lot from this show, like when robins part came on with that crazy guitar line. Actually like it better then me, i'm not now. The great destroyer sounds a little different in person live then on the bootlegs, I never heard the bomb dropping noise in the background that added a cool feel for the song. To all the people who say the song has no bass, what the hell are you talking about? I was really glad it cleared out before the encore so me and my brother could move up alot closer to the stage. The good soldier is awesome live and the sea of lighters during hurt was a great moment as well. Had a blast jamming out with the rest of you guys.

I'm really glad YOU caught it, and not some asshole who's not really a fan who stood there most of the show vacantly nodding his head and only recognizing "The Hand That Feeds" from Guitar Hero and the song that he thinks is called "Fuck You Like An Animal." I'd KILL for a tambourine (gonna try again Monday in Greensboro) but at least I'm glad it went to a REAL fan. As for me, I was probably about ten feet behind you.

I hyperventilated and my galpal and I wrapped ourselves around the tambourine. I would have tracked down and beaten the hell out of the person who had taken it from me (but with me and said galpal wrapping ourselves around it, I doubt that would have happened).

I ran after the show, and my friends can tell you that I never ever run.

I spend hours in junk shops and used cd stores going through boxes upon boxes of cds and albums trying to find mint condition pressings.

I'm currently on a poster kick, trying to find more posters to add to my already crowded wall.

I didn't know you were in New Orleans? I tried to meet up with fans there, but definitely epic failed getting places on time.

I waited 5 hours at the main stage before nin, and managed to get a spot on the rain directly in front of robin.

I'm currently trying to get my shit together to hitchhike to nashville. If I don't get in to see them, at least I can sit outside the arena and be glad.

I hope you get the Greensboro tanbourine!

Is there any way I could get a decent quality recording of this show. I would love to be able to listen to this in FLAC format, sans fan screaming into the mic all the time, way too loud.

the one thing i did while in new orleans (my first time there) was keep my eyes peeled for a trent sighting...did anyone see him outside of performing on stage that weekend? I also played fan girl (for a moment) and my bf took me to his old house...sorry had to see where he lived...always wanted to...anyhoo he probably ended up hiding out from everyone while he was there im sure...

Nah, I didn't spot him anywhere. He went to the House of Shock at 9pm the Friday before the show.


I went to 4500 Magazine Street to see the building which used to house Nothing Records, so I know what you mean.

I went down on Friday. I sat outside while my friend MC looked around, and after about five minutes, she asked me what I was doing. I told her I was just trying to soak up some extra creativity. lol.
