I am fucking sore, but that was a goddamn fun show!

Does anyone know what was supposed to be on the screen that someone's going to get fired over? Like whatever Trent was talking about before he went on his pre-election pump-up speech?

I hope it is the last time they ever have to play The Hand That Feeds in front of that background too.

A few notes:

Trent's "happiness" was evident - the energy was great.

The crowd was tiny. The floor was packed but many seats were empty.

As far as Echoplex - Josh came out, it looked like he tried to turn on a few cubes but nothing happened. Instead of the where he normally goes back and turns them off after the song the screen just went out. I don't remember from previous shows but the cubes went from the middle to the back and then back to the middle screen - something definitely screwed up.

If anyone was near the large circle mosh around Survivalism you may have seen what happens when two people have who have imbibed too much start moshing together. I think it was funnier than the conversations going on over the mock bathroom scene.

Excellent show!!!!! Thank you NIN for another great memory (and for playing The Wretched two shows in a row), as this was my third and final show of this touring phase. Hands down my favorite part of the show tonight was 31 Ghosts IV. THE most Epic thing I have ever witnessed before my eyes... Holy. Shit. To me that song is one of the best displays of the music and video fusion they have created with this tour, along with ITT, when talking about shear epic. Simply perfect.

A few things to point out: Trent played the melody from La Mer going into The Frail (!), and that was the best and longest outro of TGD that I've ever seen or heard. And maybe I was too close to the stage but I could barely hear Robins guitar during the breakdown. Also, after HLAH, that had to be the most beautiful layering of droning noise I have heard in a long time...

I liked Health, they show promise and good intentions with their out of the box style, so I'm down. They must have received some of the best reception yet IMO because the applause greatly outweighed the booing which is far different than the Greenville crowd. In fact, tonight's crowd had to be the most unpredictable and weirdest meshing of people I've ever seen at a NIN show. Just weird all around, in every way. But despite the cut songs, another fucking incredible show for the books where the whole band gave 200%.

To Josh, thanks for playing your heart out. Glad I was able to witness the level of badass you bring to NIN, and you will be sorely missed.


Also, anyone know what the excitement was at the rail at the end of TGG? I couldn't see what was going on up there.

i'll post more tomorrow, just got back from the 3 1/2 hour drive back to richmond. i didn't hear any parts of reptile creeping in after echoplex, though i wish they had played it. the setlist did seem a bit short, but with the technical issues, it doesn't surprise me that those two got cut. highlights for me were finally seeing the warning and the hand that feeds with the back drop. as trent said, hopefully this will be the last time we play this song with this backdrop. i was pleasantly surprised by health, i enjoyed them more than their album. i got lots of good pics which i'll post to flickr in the next couple of days.

I could definitely hear the low rumble of the intro ambiance of Reptile before it somewhat abruptly stopped. Then they went into God Given.

There was also what seemed to be an obvious problem right before Ghosts 31 which is probably where TBCD was supposed to be.

Either way, even with the technical problems, Trent and the band was on fire.

The crowd was energized, but civil in my area, which I liked.

I really dug Ghosts 10.

I really wish Trent didn't toy with me by playing the La Mer riff before going into The Frail.

Josh as usual tore the drums up, especially on Piggy. I'm sorry to see him go.

I was on the side in front of Justin. This is the first time on that side and I enjoyed watching him work. That man is definitely a bass player. I love his bass work on God Given. Makes it all nice and funky.

Enjoyed Health again, as I did in Greenville. Crowd was a bit hostile. They don't seem like a very accessible band, but I did it. Unfortunately, they also ran into a few technical problems here and there. Still enjoyed it.

Great show...I have no plans in the immediate future to see them again, so I await their next appearance in the southeast eagerly.

yeah, that was a long pause before 31 ghosts. the front led panel was still up in the air when that started playing 31 ghosts, then starting flying in as they were playing, is that the norm? i don't remember seeing that on the first leg of the tour.

also, what was up with the nin logo after head like a hole? it was stretched really wide, the whole width of the panel, it looked like a bootleg logo, not proportioned correctly, was that an error too, because it wasn't like that on the first leg.

Last night was to put it lightly, amazing!

My first NIN show and it was so incredible.

on the Echoplex screen, Josh was supposed to be able to touch the squares and they are supposed to do the drumline for the song, and then they are supposed to come out and do it, but it obviously didn't work.

like Trent said, "shit happens." haha.

I traveled down from Kentucky for the show!! Fantastic energy from the band, TR was especially into it!!! Very rough up front!!! Not really into moshing, but I went with the flow and still had an amazing time.

Will be uploading pics, soon. North Carolina is beautiful and everyone was very nice, the people we met at least.

So sad to see Josh wave goodbye. Probably the last time I will see him perform live.

Where did you eat pizza with him at? Does anyone know where they stayed at? I was thinking they were at the Marriott downtown that's where all the stars stay at when they come here to Greensboro...

The show was fucking awesome! I'm so glad he did "The Wretched" and "Great Destroyer" because he didn't do those in Knoxville...I was on the front row in Knoxville but had a better time here in Greensboro being in the middle of the floor...crowd was a lot better too...

I have been to thousands of concerts and this was the worst concert I have ever been to in my life. Health (wtf?) was like some jr. high act.

The crowd was tiny about 3,000. The energy was weak and L0W. I think people are confusing the 5+ fights that broke out as high energy. Many people were bored and talked throughout the songs. The tech difficulties were a waste. I came to listen to the music not watch some light show that can't get off the ground. The staged sex in one of the public bathrooms- maybe shocking/cool to a 3rd grader. Change it up for each show, since everyone by now knows about it.

The stop/start/aborted songs sucked. Same set list over and over. NIN sounded about 2 beats off for most songs. Trent's voice was too low and slurry for most songs. Since the show was not kick-ass, the pre-election pump-up speech was out of place.

Boo to you, NIN.

I promised Jen I would post my experience with the "After Show". I know Justin's bass tech, we managed to get 2 passes to the after show. We had to wait around about 30 minutes after the show and there were about 8 of us that they took back. We sat around in the back room where they were packing up for about 45 minutes and Josh Freese walks through the door. 2 of the guys in the room knew him from school, so he was mostly fixed on them. I introduced myself and he was a super nice guy. He is leaving after the Vegas show but he said it's NOT PERMANENT. Everything in on good terms and he plans on coming back. He's also been "poking and prodding" at Maynard for some new APC material. I'll post more later and a pic of my after show badge, but overall it was a once in a lifetime experience. Everyone on Robin's side was nice.

How many NIN shows have you been to? This was my 13th one since 1994 and it was one of the best as far as i'm concerned...but everyone has their opinions i guess...

I was on the floor on JMJ's side about 60 feet back...

Oh, and we had the afforementioned pizza at Spring Garden Bar & Pizzeria. Justin was such a chill dude. What a standup guy.

Sorry to sound so generic, but I'm sick....awesome show!

Only negative for me was the presence of guys who sang every song (Hurt included) as if they were trying out for Metallica. Yeah, my state is filled with red necks. At least we finally went for Obama, if even only by about 14,000 votes.
