First show I was at either Aaron North or Jeordie White handed their guitar to someone in the first row. Someone from the crew came like 5 minutes later and took it back. That would have been a hell of a souvenir but its their jobs I guess.The last tambourine that was used was just sitting on the stage, they wouldn't throw it out to us, despite Trent tossed two out during the show.

No, no no. Not TOO much! The interactive stuff was fucking amazing. And as for any break in flow/minor technical crap- dude, it was the first real concert of the tour. I'm sure they'll work it out. I have no problem with a pit. I sometimes get in the pit myself! But the entire GA area is not "the pit." Sure, there is always some movement on the floor and you might get tossed around a bit if you're on the perimeter of the pit. But these people were violently elbowing, pushing, shoving and crushing those of us at the front. It was like a wall of stink and suck!
We get GA tickets not only to be close to the stage, but also to be able to dance and enjoy the energy. We could not even move (literally), much less dance.
The taller guys at the rail let myself and a few other short girls stand in front (as seems to be customary at every show I've ever been to), but within just a few songs we were jostled away by assholes who were either drunk/high (and evidently proud of it, as they loudly kept announcing "Dude, I am so fucked-up right now!"), stirring up shit, or elbowing us in the head to get their damned cameras over us.
Totally unacceptable behavior.
There was obviously no 200e on stage... (even TR rented his before cortini bought one... imagine a mic stand hitting one of those) It looked like he had a slightly mixed eurorack system with some of peter schreiber's ear modules and a frech connec though.jpmreprise wrote:Everything about this show was obviously, amazing. Getting squished and unintentional elbows are just a fact of the pit. If they wanted plenty of spacing and room between people, they'd have seats on the floor.
Personally, I hate have always having to look out for the people that shouldn't be in that part of the floor.
You didn't miss much. I dig their sound, but that act is really not suited for arenas and their set sounded more or less like one long song, in my opinion. Club music for sure. Exactly. It was really a brilliant show with fantastic visuals. My favorites were the psychotic rolling blue and red lights at the end of Gave Up. I don't get motion sick or have epilepsy but the lights were so intense I thought I was going to pass out. That and the wipe in the middle of the whitescreen that exposed the band furiously playing in the middle before the rain came down. Wow.That was my experience of the July 26 performance of Nine Inch Nails in Seattle. NIN completely transformed an ugly, cavernous sports arena into a space where music and image were all that mattered. In response to the comment that there was 'too much,' no, the transitions are perfect in how they both juxtapose and integrate song to song, image to image, and song and image. One could preview for a month, and still have 'technical difficulties.' It worked beautifully and for the most part looked effortless.
Yeah, it was vaguely reminiscent of the video - TR trying to "break through." Nice callback while still doing something different.* Another lighting/video effect I liked was how Trent broke through the static during Only.
Josh's timing was off here and there but I thought it was cool. I liked how the control pad subtly moved from the front lightcage to the back during the course of the song, I hadn't noticed until the end when the pad was behind everyone. Clever.Some aspects of the light show were overdone and cheesy. Josh pretending to touch the screen as if it was his drum machine was classic non-intentional comedy. The shit would light up before he got there and he'd try to speed up to make it look natural.

I've had early admission for NIN shows on tours past, and this one was VERY delayed. They had to do a lot of last-minute tech stuff, and I think we were supposed to be let in at 5 or 6 for an 8pm show. They were light guys, though I never figured out where they were using the spotlights. They really didn't. I hate hearing people say an opening band sucks simply because they don't like them. I personally thought they were good but a bit confusing as an opener for NIN. Could have been, that's where I started, and slowly wiggled up as the crowd shifted. Didn't have a camera though, but that was another thing I could complain about - holding up cameras above every ones head makes it pretty damn difficult to see, especially when you're covering up Trent!hippybear wrote: I must have been right behind you. Of course he really shines with beck where his bass playing is allowed to go off a little more, but he was solid throughout this show and really put on a good performance.

She was wearing some really baggy pants and everyone kept on stepping on them, bringing her down to the floor. When MOTP started, she pretty much fainted to the floor and no one seemed to notice so my friend and I spent half the song trying to get her up before anyone else saw her. She was nearly trampled to death so that's why she was screaming and crying. Thanks for helping whoever did. I wasn't expecting the pit to be that intense.

Why do I feel like I stepped into an alternate reality for this show? I use the moldable silicone plugs (Mack's, rated at 22db). I can partially pull them away from my ear to adjust how much sound I want to let in. I've seen NIN two times in California, and this was my first time in Seattle. I, likewise will never go to a Seattle concert again. I was very angry about the assholes. Grow up, stay at a hotel in seattle or research the commute, don't go in the pit if you don't want to be in a pit.
People complain if the pit is intense, and people complain if the pit is lackluster. you can't have it both ways people, if you want to show off your dance moves, go to the back of the floor, if you want to be close to the band (like everyone else), deal with the crushing surge that comes along with it.

my advice would be to use the FLAC audio for the entire show for purposes of quality and continuity... Purists would take up enough issue with piecing together multiple video sources. I really doubt the camera audio will ever be better than the FLAC, which sounds like it was taped with a decent binaural setup. A rolloff at 30hz might freeup some bass energy but I doubt you're gonna reduce the crowd noise without messing it up (the music for the most part is sitting in the same frequencies)... I might have time to do some mastering if you're gonna put a lot of effort in. - March of the Pigs - My entire video is pit chaos, captures the experience of being there during the song, but some variety would be nice.
- The Warning, The Great Destroyer, Ghosts 25, Ghosts 31 - I took partial video of these for various reasons. Mostly I have the beginning and end of the songs, but not the middle bits. I missed almost the entire TGD breakdown because security guys were looking for pot in the pit, and I thought they were looking for video cameras =D
I can provide a FTP site for upload. I'd like the files in their original quality/format/size/etc. (unmodified.)
Please contact me by PM on here if interested. It would be nice if you have an example of the video on YouTube. Again - audio quality doesn't matter, just the image.
