awesome show, saw a few people there in the pit (I was the guy with the white ets shirt I made this shirt)
Was a really great show. Sad they didn't play Great Destroyer. Most of the people around me said "awww" after the show ended because of that.
They closed with In this twilight - which was amazing. Really amazing.
The video behind them was beautiful.
Oh, and there were a few belligerent drunk people before NIN even came on. One claimed to have bought his ticket for $600 I believe. They sucked. They started attempting to mosh, to no music, before the show. We ended up throwing them literally out of the pit. It was nice.
Besides that, the floor had a good atmosphere and everyone seemed to have a good time.

Just got home from the show. This was my first NIN show even though I've been a fan since PHM. Worth the years of waiting! Someone else will have to post the set list, but I can tell you we got Down In It instead of Reptile. As much as I love Reptile, I'd choose Down In It any day. Trent wasn't terribly talkative, but he did say that it's nights like tonight that make it worth the effort to put on the show. And I know this has been said many times before, but it bears repeating: Josh Freese is incredible. I could hardly take my eyes off the man. Amazing show all around.

Wow, amazing show! pretty decent set list too. I got to hear the Big Come Down so I was happy. Also a lot from With Teeth tonight. Over all great performance. My first time seeing them on new tour, 4th time over all.
Now to the 2 guys sitting behind me (I was in 113, row B, seats 8-9). . . . Fuck You! I did not spend $60 a ticket to listen to you shout out every word to every song! Not to mention you were off key, off time, and screwing up all the lyrics! Even during the slow songs when Trent was singing softly these ass holes were yelling at the top of their lungs. Have some fuckin courtesy!
I would have to say this is the best NiN show Ive ever seen. Especially when they played the selections from Ghosts. Just an awesome experience all around. Cant wait to see another one!

Set list was similar, but tweaked. No Wretched after The Frail, but we did get The Line Begins To Blur and A phenomenal version of Getting Smaller as a nice surprise in the slot where Reptile was on Saturday.
One of the big LED panels failed during The Warning and Vessel, and it was pretty distracting while it was (I assume) being rebooted.
The pit sucked so bad. I was hoping to mosh to Letting You, but it didn't even begin to liven up until MOTP. And even then it was like a Kindergarten compared to Houston. I actually felt apologetic - there was only about 5 people wanting to mosh, and a pit that doesn't make. It just makes a big hole that occasionally has someone in it.
One guy in the pit was being a real asshole. Instead of politely asking people who were getting too lively to move to the pit he was screaming at people and pushing. Anyway, that's my call for the waaambulance. When I found the few moshers that were there, it was cool.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen, that was my first pit experience in my life and I only made it through 2 songs! I admit it, I'm a pussy. By the time of Letting You, I started getting lightheaded. When Discipline started I had to get out. If you were wondering who the loser was in the blue and white striped polo shirt who had to leave that was me! Some kind girls were nice enough to assist me in the right direction since i was so out of it. But it was def an experience, I had no idea the pit was like that. But it was worth it to see Trent that close for a little bit.
Anyways the show was awesome, part of the screen was fucked up during Vessel and The Warning. I bet Trent was pissed! And then dancing brett had his kid out (or someone's kid) before the show on the stage which was amusing.

wow...fucking wow. i read everyone saying that...but Trent just raised the live show SO HIGH that no one will ever let a band get away with just standing up there playing music without an amazing stage show. just go for the stage show even if you don't like the music. i brought 2 friends that aren't that crazy for NIN, but they both agreed it's the best concert they've ever seen. thank you trent for blowing our minds.

Beautiful show. Better than Houston indeed. My ladyfriend whom I took with me said this was her first time seeing NIN and it blew her away..beyond words. Excellent setlist...very happy...seventh time seeing them and I think this was the best. And now for the post game feast...tacos and soda

fantastic show. The Warning was amazing, I loved the surprises: Getting Smaller, The Line Begins To Blur, and Down In It. This show had the best variety of any nine inch nails show i've ever been to. In This Twilight and God Given were probably the best performed songs played, and my favorite parts of the show were the shirt-slinging activities during discipline and josh freese signing off like a children's television host.

This show was waaaaay better than OKC. Pleasant surprises in the setlist, especially Down In It. First time I've seen it live, and it was awesome.
Other than the usual assholes in the pit (and one particular cunt---I was soo thrilled when she got a boot right in the face)---best NIN show I've ever been to.

I definitely got trampled twice, but I don't even fucking care. Lost a converse as well. Not really sure how it happened? It was a high top, totally laced up. Anyway, yeah. The best concert I've ever been to, hands down.
I was on the right for most of the time and in the middle on the rail at the end, a lot of people were moshing. You must have been in a dead fucking zone.

Did you guys see during Hurt when trent sort of did the self-hug thing (crossed his arms over the middle and was holding his arms). He looked so vulnerable. It was amazing.
And fuck you to those fucktards that always yell during that song. I swear it never fails. And it wasn't from the floor, it was all people yelling from the seats. I hate it, it keeps you from really feeling the song.

Oh, yeah. I had to get the fuck out of the pit right before Hurt because my leg was fucked up, but I watched it from the stairs. People were screaming through the whole damn thing, I was going to punch someone.

The show was fan fucking tastic. I only have a few complaints.
There was group of kids who came to the pre-sale line at about 11 and came snuck around the corner to the front, while the rest of us who had been there since 8 waited in our proper places in line. Shit got confrontational and elbows were ready to be thrown, I'll tell ya.
Second, what the fuck was up with this crowd? I was up against the rail infront of Justin, and I would look back and expect to see lots of moving and shoving, but nothing. The pit was really tame and not as fearsome as I had come to expect.
A Place To Bury Strangers were great. I hate that everyone was hating on them, they have a good sound (only complaint is you can hardly hear the vocals, but it's shoegaze guys!). They had a great strobe light show and a great amount of showman shio for their show.
Highlights:
Trent chucking his mini-synth at the end of Head Down because it wasn't functioning properly.
Hearing those four hi-hat hits for the beginning of The Line Begins To Blur and thinking "No fucking way...". Then the bass and drums came in and it was on!
Vessel was fantastic
Terrible Lie had the whole arena yelling

Great show as expected. I was in section 119 fourth row (stage left, Justin side), and I think it was ideal to fully see the visuals.
The Line Begins to Blur was a surprise since I don't think that has played in any previous cities on this tour. Was a bit disappointed that Dallas didn't get Reptile, but the rest of the show makes up for that.
I got some good pics of the full stage, some of the pics are really awesome, although I got a bunch of streaked pics since it is kind of difficult to hold the camera still in those lighting conditions. I'll post some later once I have a chance to weed through them. I got some shots of people on the floor, so you might get to see your head.
Also got some shots of the LED screen malfunction. They fixed it after Vessel. Complex technology doesn't always cooperate.
Only negatives were: the asshole further in the back throwing some kind of liquid on us, and the chain smoker girls in front of me. Otherwise it was a good crowd and a spectacular show.
I'm a little puzzled by the people who disappear for large segments of the show to get beer and food multiple times. They miss lots of songs. I wouldn't want to miss a single moment.

Woot! It was a great show. My first NIN, and I'm very happy about it. The light show was fantastic. Unlike any other. Damn, they have a lot of LEDs.

Woo damn the show was great but it wasn't as roughdy as expected All there was wAs just A LOT of pushing when nin began which really pissed me off. Like there's no need to dig your elbows into my ribs just to get 5 inches closer. That's why you mosh your way up and have fuckin fun with it! Other than that I loved the set list. The with teeth songs were amazing and I'm glad to have witnessed that cus the 06 tour I was in a seat. All in all it was magnificant and I LOVE those security guards for all the water they provided me! Although I am looking forward to san Antonio because we know how to throw a motha fucka down

Can someone explain to me the point of "moshing?" What exactly is fun about getting shoved, punched and kicked for two hours? Isn't the whole purpose of going to a concert to see and hear your favorite bands sing songs live? When, and why did this ridiculously retarded tradition ever come about, and why do people still follow it even today in 2008 ?
I know I sound like an outcast, but seriously... unless you're so drunk that you couldn't give a shit about anything that was happening at a concert, for the most part, it doesn't make sense.

Nine inch nails finally has a light show that rivals and compliments the music live. Most amazing visual set up I have seen yet. Must be seen to be believed. If you have not seen them and they are coming to a city near you, you simply have to go. Trust me on this one.

I'm going to have to get San Antonio tickets now. Last nights show was incredible! That was probably my 10th time to see them (all the way back since Live Hate '90) and they just keep getting better!!!

It's hard to say which was the more awesome show, Dallas or Houston. I think Houston had a slightly better set list, but a day off sure did the boys some good because I've never heard Trent scream like he did last night during MOTP. Amazing. Since we had rail for Houston, we decided to hang back & enjoy the light show, which was incredible despite technical difficulties. Set highlights:

so these past two days have been an experience. from standin in the rain all day, to the concert, then the airport. i was already all post show excited, then i got on my plane and was listenin to nin,and the combo of nin and the major turbulance made it feel like iwas in an action scene of a movie and the plane was gonna crash. ahh i'mbored in atlanta waiting for my transfed flight.

Put this in lights: Thinking outside the big, bad music-biz box can pay off.
It's not a coincidence that Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails – the two acts that have usurped the traditional music-sales model to the grandest effect in the past year – have also staged the two most visually dazzling concerts of 2008.
But Radiohead's static forest of dangling neon icicles feels like a half-baked, budget-conscious collegiate gallery installation compared to the multipanel, megastrobed mastery of Trent Reznor's multimedia vision, as executed on Monday in front of roughly 7,000 people at American Airlines Center.
You might've wondered when someone would put one of those grate-like see-through LED-monitor curtains to full use. Well, Mr. Reznor did, but not until after starting the two-hour concert at a breakneck, instrument-breaking tempo with four snorting techno-punk tracks from his recent release, The Slip, in addition to "March of the Pigs," "... Animal" and three more selections for the crowd's classic NIN nuts.
Then, three of those light grates began moving up and down, as if backdrops to a postmodern opera about industrial catharsis soundtracked by a mad (or, at least, mad as hell) John Philip Sousa type with an acute case of Orwellian futurethink.
First, the band manned all manner of electronica gear to perform "The Warning" and "Vessel" in front of the stage-front grate as it flickered with faux spotlight auras. Then a midstage panel lowered to depict high-contrast desert-scapes and swampland during exotic instrumental passages from the quartet of recent Ghosts releases. (You've gotta admit that seeing the beefy Mr. Reznor play an orchestra-quality xylophone is a treat).
Then the show became art.
TV snow hid the band behind the front panel during another instrumental; then a hole burned through the digital static to reveal them. A blue, jazzy turn through "Piggy" morphed into throbbing mountain topography during "The Greater Good" as Mr. Reznor's fist-accompanied, singing face flitted in and out. A little later, Mr. Reznor, guitarist Robin Finck and bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen frolicked beneath a rack of swinging LED tubes during "The Big Come Down."
We were told that Mr. Reznor decided not to allow photography at the show because he wasn't feeling well, though he and the band sounded fine. That's OK. Photography wouldn't have done this technical spectacle any justice.

Well I'm in concert hangover from yesterday. It was cool bumping into ETS members diggs and ArmyofMe waiting in line early for the show, and fun being with them on the rail during the course of it.
The rain yesterday was no joke and never really let up. I was surprised people were there before us and I arrived at noon. I ended up on the far left side of the rail, but really any view is a great view for this tour. AMAZING.... This tour is the best presentation yet. I'm continually amazed by the quality of each show.
It really pissed me off to see the LCD malfunction. I think because Houston's show was so technically perfect that I talked up the Dallas show to different people. The music sounded better than Houston but the production was just a bit off. In the end, it really was not anything other than an amazing show though.
It's also funny, I tend to trail off looking at Trent to look at Robin. I'm so glad he's back. He is technically superior to Aaron North. Robin seems to embody the instrument while Aaron seems to play the guitar while jumping around. If that makes any sense.

Um. That's a hard one to explain to anyone who doesn't get it. I guess the nearest to an explanation I can give is, if Hurt or ITT makes you feel like crying, is it that hard to think that Gave Up might want to make you literally feel hurt? It's still emotional, just different. If you can understand why some people cry during Hurt, it's not a huge stretch of the imagination to think some people might enjoy pain when TR's singing "Smashed up my sanity, smashed up integrity..."hughpeanuss wrote:Can someone explain to me the point of "moshing?" I don't stay in the pit for every song - but MOTP, Gave Up, Wish, Letting You and Survivalism (to me) are all emotionally charged (and Happiness in Slavery - maybe at Philly? :)
For the mosh pit to work though, it has to be consensual, everyone has to look out for each other (if you fall, people pull you back up), and the general violence level tends to get decided gradually by whoever is there. It can often be a little awkward with people on the edges who involuntarily get hurt, but most people in the mosh pit are reasonably considerate about people on the edges.
In the better venues, they actually post security in the mosh pit to weed out people who are out of line - and to make sure that things stay cool. Those pits can be the best - nothing like knowing you have two 300lb gorillas watching your back :)
I hope this makes some kind of sense. Generally, people who want to mosh don't want to ruin the night for others - heh, I was actually joking with Teknolust on the way back last night that there should be a checkbox when you buy a GA ticket, saying something like, "When in the pit, I like to (a) be a sardine, (b) get punched, (c) jump up and down with a little breathing room, or (d) JUST STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME, OK?" - although how they could organize that in real life I have no idea :)

I have never felt that much energy at a concert in the first hour in my entire life.

I'm still COMPLETELY in awe of Robin Finck. Anyone that is holding out that Aaron North was better in the touring version of NIN - you are on crack. And you'll eventually see the (incomparable) difference in sound and energy level.
Not that it matters because I'm there for the music, but I agree that was the quietest, mildest pit I've been in in quite some time. It truly surprised me because my last experience in Dallas was brutal (but fun and I like Dallas crowds for that reason). Oh well. Whatever. This time I backed it up some and was actually very pleased because not only could I see everything great, but the lights (when they were working) were just beautiful. (and because I can't resist: To the moron that stole wrist bands for himself and his friends...wow..what a coup..it wasn't even sold out or crowded on the floor. Wow, what a fantastic show. I'm going to have to call it the best NiN show ever. We had seats in 105 right next to robin (ok, 11 rows back). We had a little bit of trouble seeing the entire screens since we were almost perpendicular to the stage, but we could see enough to know it was awesome. I was the guy in the PHM tour shirt with the girl in the pink tanktop and pigtails. We would have totally started our own mosh pit in the seats except that the two people next to me were not really into it and sat through half the show.
Highlights- Big come down, Down In It (was afraid neither would make the setlist). The kid hamming it up on stage. All the ghosts stuff. No Hand that feeds and very little phm (I've had enough of both). Robin has instantly become my favorite guitarist ever. The shirt selection is GREAT for this tour. The AAC staff was great and didn't make a fuss over my chain wallet...
Regrets- No Good Soldier or Great Destroyer (I really wanted to see that one live!). Demon seed desperately needs to be played live! The frail into closer is jarring... In my opinion, if you're not playing the wreteched, just drop the frail... $35 shirts and $4.50 water....

Absolutely perfect. I hadn't read much about the tour before I went as I wanted to have any surprises if possible. The visuals were definitely a surprise. They went beyond it being just a live concert into more of a presentation or installation. Visual and audio were connected more than ever and while some points might have been a bit cheesy such as when Trent was running back and forth and slowly moving away the static during "Only", it was still a fantastic production.
I really enjoyed that there were different stages to the show- the beginning Slip material along with some more heavy tracks, the two Year Zero songs that were presented with the different stage set-up, the Ghosts section, and the songs before encore to kick up the volume again.
I thought the synth solo in "Gave Up" was a great rendition and I am happy I got to finally see Robin live- I think the abstractness he puts into the guitar parts are beautiful and it definitely gives it a live edge that Aaron just could not.

Best performance taking both visuals and sound into account- "The Big Come Down". I've been waiting to see it live and holy shit... it did not disappoint. The layering in both aspects was very well done.
I wanted to punch everyone in the seats. The constant screaming during quiet songs (I could barely hear "The Frail") and even heckling during Ghosts ("stop this pussy shit!" "the new songs fucking suck!" etc). I couldn't believe this... either go to the concert and respect his music or stay home, shitheads. The Ghosts part was breathtaking and wasn't an intermission as some people treated it.
I can't wait for the SLC show. :)

uh no...i'm SURE that whatever city they are in they just set up live video feeds of the bathrooms, and broadcast anything going on in there, and in the perfect timing of when they played Survivalism, a couple just happened to time their sex perfectly. and it's amazing how they ended near when the song ended.
also, after the buzz about the U2 Zoo TV tour back in 91, i just have to say that this show made Zoo TV look like a Foghat show.

Just wanted to point out some hypocrisy @ last nights show. I brought some AIR flag stickers that I had printed up back when the ARG was going on. I gave them out before the show free to anyone who wanted them the remaining hand full I threw out over the crowd during survivalism.
Now quite in opposition of the spirit of the whole AIR thing Trent's head of security PIG decided to pull me aside in the middle of the show and confiscate the 5 stickers i had left while telling me "give me everything you have (x3), turn out you fucking pockets(x2)!, I dont want you throwing shit during MY show! I keeping my eye on you."
Now I understand his position and what his job is and i respect that but he could have conducted himself much more professionally especially representing trent in this situation. All he had to say was "hey dont throw stuff" that easy. I hold nothing against trent or the band but that guy was an ass and embodied the very attitude that AIR is against.

That was the weird thing about it too. I would have expected that kinda thing from arena staff but they were really cool. I had three of them ask me what the flags were and what they meant. If you have followed the history of "things that have happened when things got thrown on stage at NIN shows" you would know why the man had a word with you.

I think that both the crowd, and Strangers, liked the bubbles a lot - the reaction to Strangers was a lot better than the other shows i saw.

I didn't boot the Dallas show last night like I'd normally do, I wanted to hang out for once and have a good time. I'm Glad I did, cuz there were guys there with better gear than mine, well-concealed, and they seemed to be doing a great job.

- Crazy setlist. LONG ass setlist. I was happy boy. I'll be watching Dime like a hawk for this one, you should too.
- Flawlessly executed ambient tracks from Ghosts, was especially impressed with the integration of the LED board during these numbers, and they'll get even better as 1) the fucking thing starts working properly, or 2) gets replaced with an even higher resolution display.
- The "Only Time" breakdown during Closer is getting more prominent and more seamlessly interwoven since the last time I saw them perform it.
- Trent threw something at something. Welcome back dude!
- I'd have loved to have seen The Great Destroyer, but The Big Comedown and TLBTB were a fair trade. Fuck yeah!
- The performance of Only made genius use of the LED board and brought out the more surrealist Hertzfeld "Rejected" elements of the song. I haven't seen anything like that on stage ... I guess ever.
- I've been out of the loop for quite some time and had no idea Robin had returned to us. It was great to see him back where he belongs.
- Some guys with "NIN Guest" stickers on their shirts were trying to flirt with a couple of extreme hotties about to explode out of tiny tiny tiny dresses. It was so awkward I couldn't stop laughing.
- The Macbooks and other gear at the soundboard side table were networked with some Cisco gear that looked a bit, shall we say exposed? I'll let you wonder where I'm going with that.
- The soundboard guy was JAMMING. I mean going OFF. He was the most animated guy in that venue last night.
- Whoever was smoking the sensimilla thanks for the contact high, I had trouble communicating to the concessionaire what beer I wanted after that :-)
- Missed the entire opening act standing in line for wristbands. Apparently they were in an adjacent locked utility room and nobody knew who had the key or where they were. I should have expected AA would run their concert venues like they run their airline.
- View from the floor at the front of the soundboard was ideal - except for the fucking forest of glowing LCD displays sprouting from the army of amateur photojournalists intent on preserving the moment in time with fuzzy pictures.
- The drunk guy screaming the lyrics off-key during Hurt: you losing your voice and shutting up after 45 seconds of that idiocy was a great moment for America. Settle down next time and do more input than output.

I just got back to Houston after driving through nothing but rain, and I have to be at work from 4-10:30, so I'm not that happy, but here's my account from last night.
I had a fan-fucking-tastic time at this show. I was on the rail directly in front of Robin and had my friend behind me as my "bodyguard". The night started awesome for us as we were in the Fanshop around 4:30, just looking at the Mavs stuff they had. The Fanshop is inside the venue, but is able to be accessed from the outside. As we were looking, I heard music, and ran over to the gate that separated the store from the concourse, and I realized NIN was soundchecking! We heard them soundcheck TLBTB and Getting Smaller. Trent didn't sing the entirety of either song to preserve his voice, I guess.
The show itself was off the fucking hook. No pain or excessive squeezing on the rail, had room to dance, and I got Robin's water bottle after he drenched me and another friend of mine. I FUHREAKED out when I heard the opening to Down In It. I have never heard it live and it was awesome!!!
One gripe I had was this total dumbfuck wearing a white tshirt and a baseball cap trying to make his way to the rail. He ended up just to the right behind me and was like "I WANT THE RAIL!" Uh, fuck you buddy, but that's not gonna happen. He was an annoyance throughout much of the show, sadly.
The aftershow was pretty fucking cool. Before anyone from the band came in, Freese's son came in on his Razr scooter with his shirt off. He said the funniest thing "I just had a sip of whiskey! It was weird!" and then left. We died with laughter. Robin came in and sat with us first at our table because he recognized us as the ppl responsible for the bubbles. He is very soft spoken and VERY nice and polite. He signed my aftershow pass and I got a picture with him, which is on my friend's camera. I'll post it as soon as I get it. Before he left, I got a hug from him...hehe...I was wearing these black bracelets with charms on them, and as I pulled away, I realized one of the charms was caught in one of his dreads!! I was stuck to him and he didn't realize it till he walked a few feet away with me still attached to him. It was awesome haha. Justin came in and he's a really nice guy too, also got a pic and autograph.
All in all it was one of the best show's I've ever been to (#7 for NIN) and I will never forget it!

Actually no I wasn't I was right in the center of the stage a little way's back but the sound was awesome and I was close enough that Trent's voice and the Band were nice and clear.....my only problem is being that close to the crowd you do get some chatter and whooping not really a huge amount but hey I'm happy with it.

Yay bubbles! That was my friends and I at the rail... like the person said before, they had chatted with APTBS at a gas station and mentioned the bubbles... so my friends followed through and brought bubbles in! We were paranoid that the security guards were going to get pissed, so that's why we did it for them and then waited until the end of the show for NIN. Robin's face was priceless when he saw them floating past him, I actually caught a pic of him smirking at the bubbles - ha! I think every NIN show should have some bubbles...

They actually had the exact same screen at my show in Knoxville of the two people having sex in the bathroom during Survivalsim. I was wondering whether it was real or not but I guess they just filmed this stuff and use various ones at each show. I actually have a picture with them in the background, before, during, and after they had sex. I'll have to post that as soon as I can

Awesome show! I was far on the floor behind the people that were blowing bubbles. Everybody around me was great and the energy was great. I can't believe I survived for most of the show being scrunched up in a ball. I had enough at the end of head like a hole because a bunch of dickweeds started making their way to the front. All in all a good show. The drive from shreveport was great. We got in line about 1:45. Everybody in line was great. I'm glad they got the line situation in the presale line inside settled before we went on the floor, otherwise I'd be screwed. Down in it was a great surprise, this was my fifth time seeing them and this is the first time I have seen that song played live. Getting smaller and the line begins to blur was also a great surprise as well.

I finally got to a computer, one day later but still. One of the best shows I've ever been too. I'm never driving in Dallas again (I'm actually moving there, so now's the time to learn)....but it was beautiful. I had a fairly good view of the stage, my pics suck though. I'll try and make something like a wallpaper with them though, where i can play with the quality.

It was my first NIN show and I'm glad it was a Dallas show! There's always a great vibe and energy--despite the skinhead lookin' fool I saw and have read others commenting on.(But Wow, Really? Those still exist? Natural selection has dwindled their numbers, but I guess they're still surviving like cockroaches.) Usually, I hate the days after a great show because there isn't anything to follow, but with San Antonio so soon...I'm hoping this show will be some memories for now and some more NIN show memories to come very soon. The lights worked so great with all the music and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
A Place to Bury Strangers were pretty cool too. Wasn't familiar with them, but just noticed an video with them from SXSW. Seem pretty interesting and opened up a great show!

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Every time I see them in concert, I wonder how the hell they're going to top themselves the next time around. And every time, they pull it off.
We spent the show back by the soundboard... my fighting to get to the rail days are over. And while there was lots of room back there, I'm so short that I couldn't see much of what was going on on the actual stage. I still had an amazing time. Some of my personal favorite moments were TGG, Terrible Lie, and ITT. The whole thing was incredible, though. I agree that taking The Frail into Closer was pretty jarring, but he made up for it by throwing in a taste of The Only Time. And of course I was a little sad that I didn't get to hear Reptile or TGD, but eh. They played Echoplex and I was happy again.
Tek, I'm sorry we didn't get to hang out more, but it was still good to see you in the flesh. I did get to catch up with my girl sublimaze, which was nice. And after we had the genius idea to WALK back to the West End train station despite not knowing where the hell we were going, we met a couple of great (and equally exhausted) fellow fans. They were trying to educate me on the awesomeness that is ETS, but hey guys. I already knew.

Amazing amazing amazing! I can't count how many times I've seen NIN but this was one of the best. Sec 105 row 2 was AWESOME. The only time the peeps in front of me got up was the older songs (HLAH Wish gave up) So I had a pretty decent view even when I had to sit... bum knee. All in all totally worth flying from NC - can't wait for NOV. huzzah!

I took tons of pics. OKC I was stage left rail mostly because of the chaos when they let us in. But Houston and Dallas I was dead center rail. I got the best pics in Dallas.

No, actually that was the night before the show. They were staying at the W, and were out walking around the strip. We also met Justin but I didnt get a pic. I'm very young, but I absolutely love NIN. I was really pumped to go to this show, and it didn't dissapoint. I wasn't a big fan of APTBS, and didn't expect to be, as I didn't like what I'd heard from the tour sampler. Their 4 hour strobe light was a bit over the top, and I had to look away more than once. The lead singer's vox weren't loud enough, but eh. It happens. As for NIN, The band was spot on all night. If Trent wasn't feeling good, you couldn't tell from his performance. He was all over the place. The light show was phenomenal, and lived up to the hype. The malfunctioning LCD was distracting, but stuff like that is bound to happen. Although I love Ghosts, I really wasn't wanting them to play it live. It didn't seem like it'd translate well. I was wrong; the scenes they had behind them really enhanced it all, and I was in awe. All in all, we got a very good setlist, and a good performance out of the band.

I saw the set list for St. Louis after the Dallas show. Both Houston and St. Louis got Reptile, but we didn't. And St. Louis got six encore songs. And St. Louis got The Wretched and Closer after The Frail. (pout pout). Oh well, it was still a spectacular show in Dallas.
Did anyone notice that the white gun-cross symbol was missing from front screen during God Given? (at least I don't recall seeing it). It is in the pictures from other performances in other cities.

Not sure if anyone pays attention to the music they play over the arena speakers while they set up the stage for NIN...but if anyone happens to know the name of the song that was kinda techno-sounding and the chorus kept repeating "it's too much....too much..." I'd love to know what it is.

It's my new compact Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS. If you look in the left margin on Flickr, it usually shows what kind of camera was used for a picture. I have another Canon that would have probably taken better pictures in that lighting, but it is bulkier. I finally got my pictures off my camera. As suspected, 98% were blurry beyond use, but I got a few OK shots out of it. This was my first NIN show, I didn't feel like bringing in my SLR and worrying about it the whole time. I had a blast!

Anyone else noticed how difficult it is to find a live recording of dallas shows? Been searching a while for several of them, and the only one I've ever found is a 1990 one... (looking for this one, a 95 one and a 2006 one). Those of you who recorded this one- where are you sharing it, if at all?

Whenever it's ready, it'll be ready. I remember there were 2 tapers I knew of at this show, but who knows...life gets busy. I'm really looking forward to hearing it again though...mainly for that awesome version (best one i've heard live out of 4 shows i've heard it) of The Line Begins to Blur and for Getting Smaller as well.

Maybe you should stop complaining about how difficult it is to get other people's recordings and just start taping shows yourself. My recording of this Dallas show will be shared on Dime soon... I just need to do a little remastering and hopefully patch a 10 second gap with part of another source.
I have a recording of the 2006 Dallas NIN show, but the taper asked me not to torrent it.

The American Airlines Center has metal detectors. Some people would see that as stricter security, though in reality you can still get through with recording gear. There are at least 3-4 recordings of this Dallas NIN show, but I've only heard about one recording of the Houston show two nights before.leetfoo wrote: Not so much complaining, just wondering why. But as far as I know, almost every Dallas NIN show has been recorded, including several that aren't circulating yet. For example there is a DAT tape from the May '94 show at the Bomb Factory that I didn't get a copy of until two years ago. But there are also plenty of circulating ones too, like 4 recordings of the Dallas show on the Fragility tour in 2000 (Seth's DAT, a minidisc source, my video, and Mo's video).
As for why people would tape but not share, it's because they want to enjoy a recording later, but don't care if you get to hear it. I don't know why you would assume that every taper (or any taper) should care about you. I have always shared my NIN recordings, but I have hundreds of recordings of other bands that will never be torrented because they are for me to listen to, and I don't have the time or desire to share each one of them.

I'm dreaming of a future in which there are dozens of tapers of every show, so there is less of a burden on the rare few of us who care enough to do it. I think it could actually happen, but only if NIN were pro-taping and allowed recording equipment into the shows, like a lot of the jam bands do.

I wanted to chime in on this as i've been on both sides of the fence.
As a taper I do take a lot of pride in my work and I'll always share my recordings....but as people who watch the torrent sites fans gotta understand that tapers put some serious money and time into there craft and it takes some time to put out the finish product whether tinkering with the sound or whatever would you rather have a shitty sounding tape circulated in 6 hours or a good tape that takes a few weeks or so to come out?.....also before the days of torrenting tapes did take a lot longer to circulate and when a tape is out in the open it makes it harder to get a even trade for it.
Also the whining about quality makes it harder for a taper to want to put there's out there....believe me I've gotten a few whiners about tape quality from other shows....not every show is going to sound like a a+++ soundboard
You will see my tape of Dallas up soon but I had to make sure it was good in my ears.....also I wanna get 1 or 2 trades out of it first but rest assured it will be posted on dime within the next few weeks.

Life gets in the way, kids. It is very difficult to block off a few hours of uninterrupted time to transfer, edit, tweak, remaster, and transcode an entire concert, including opening bands. This is just audio; video is even worse.
I'm still sitting on the Dallas show from 2006 for this very reason: I just can't find the time and I won't trust anyone else to remaster my recording.
It sucks, and I certainly wish things were otherwise, but that's just how it is. There isn't any sense in being impatient: the recordings will get out when they get out.
