I had the setlist going correctly in my head and then there were just so many that I forgot. We went in just as doors opened, checked some bathrooms and didn't find any hidden letters. We got food and went to our seats to eat when who walks by but Joe Leitz (Combichrist drummer/ just filled in for Hanzel und Gretyl). We were debating if it was him or not and we knew the tattoos. He went down to the sound board and called this girl down.. as she walked by we called her over and it turned out to be his wife. ANyways, we said how much we love his drumming and he did an amazing job filling in for Hanzel und Gretyl. Opening band came on and really didn't play all too long. They were alright. NIN came on around 8:20. Phenomenal show. The house lights were still on when 999,999 started to play. They were still on and I said to my brother, "What are they doing?" Then the lights went out. 1,000,000 was great live. Really got the crowd pumped up.

What a fucking show... just got home... I am shot... I was 2nd from the front dead center... I felt bad for the people with the girl in the wheel chair. They wanted out after the 4th or 5th song. Not really the best place to be at a NIN concert. Whoever I met, I never got your names but good people to talk to.

The show was great! I was so excited to hear Down in It, Reptile and The Wretched!
I just want to give a big fuck you to the fratboy assholes who decided they were just gonna push their way to the front about 5 songs in. I was a bit to the right of trent and 4 people in from the rail. These guys were complete idiots. I heard them planning how they were gonna "bust through." During Piggy, one guy called someone on his cell to say, "Dude you will never believe where I am, Dude I am in the pit..blah, blah, blah." Then he proceeded to sing the worst rendition ever of Piggy in my ear. I told him to shut up. I heard him tell his friends that I wasn't moving and that they were gonna have to start swinging. I tried so hard...I elbowed him, stepped on his feet, but I finally gave up. I couldn't enjoy the show like that (he also almost pulled my shirt off and wrapped his arm around my neck) and I moved over to Robins side. One bit of satisfaction, I did hear him tell his friend, "Dude, I got an elbow stuck in my liver." Yeah, take that fucker!!
Oh, and to top it off, my memory apparently fell out of my camera and someone (I wonder who?) took my ATM card out of pocket.
It was a really amazing show, though, and I am glad that I got to the side so I could really enjoy Reptile and Down in It. I will probably post more later when I am not so pissed off.

I tried to get a shot of the dude who ran up on stage (good job!), but failed miserably. I did get a couple of other good shots from my vantage point.

can anyone confirm the setlist? I can't wait to see more photos and hopefully videos. I am going to be talking about this show for a long time. Just amazing. I was glad to see that the hand that feeds wasn't played for a change. just wanted to hear the good soldier. oh well. Of course the girls next to me just wanted to hear Hurt. This was one of the best shows I've ever been to. The lighting was amazing, the song selection was amazing (I almost crapped myself when Reptile started) and the performance was amazing. My seats were to the stage's left, first level, row 1 right near Robin. I had a great view of pretty much everything.
I got really nervous when that guy got up on stage that it would really piss Trent off and he'd cut out some songs or even stop Down In It. I hope the security guards gave him a good beating.

OK, i just got back. THIS SHOW WAS INCREDIBLE. SOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE NJ SHOW I WENT TO. Trent's speech caused a fan to throw her bra right in front of Robin...and that made everyone in the arena laugh as Robin held it up in front of everyone (was it blue/green?). haha. Also, this reallly fat kid managed to jump over security, and onto the stage during Down In It. Anyway, he ran up to trent, and literally bowed down to him! After that, it took 4 or 5 security gaurds to tackle the guy...and drag him by the neck off the stage. and yea, setlist was outta this world! The entire show was just unbeleavable!!!!! this show had everything...the crowd was awesome, the setlists couldnt have been better. The openner [DIOYY?] was lights out awesome! thanks trent!

This was my first time at a Nine Inch Nails concert. My son is a huge fan and has previously been to two other shows. He insisted his dad and I see this concert with him. The show was absolutely fucking amazing! My husband who has seen many bands over the years, is very hard to impress. He constantly teases my son that he should listen to a real band. Well tonight Trent and Co. left him practically speechless. His exact words were "this guy is bad ass" and "I didn't think his show would be so intense." He was also really impressed with how long the band played. I don't think I have EVER been to a concert where someone actually sounds the same live as they do recorded. I am beyond impressed and hope they come back this way again soon. Loved that Trent was so talkative with the crowd. I honestly don't know what else to say other than this show was kick ass and we had a great time!

bloody hell, where do I start?
i turned up to the venue at 5.30ish with hippy, ad infinitum, great gazoo, and eris. we hooked up with the others, got into the venue blah blah.
most of us were at the soundboard for this show, which luckily worked out really well
Does it offend you, yeah? were AMAZING. I was really looking forward to seeing them live - moreso than NIN really - and they definitely delivered. I'll be seeing them again in London later this year.
I have a video of TGD and....something else. I'm determined to see what all the hidden visuals are /geek
i didn't have huge expectations for NIN, as I didn't really like the visuals etc this tour (I still think they're a bit useless and bloated), but live, in the flesh, I was completely sucked in. Random bullet point highlights
- EYB and the survivalism screens. It was a real group love moment.
- Heariing Thew Wretched for the first time in ages
- Dancing - being able to dance at a nin show!
- Dancing to Down in It, Closer, Only, and Reptile with all the others. Jadezuki and Shotgun Dutchess have some wicked moves
- Fake-emo-spazzing with Shotgun during Hurt
- The courtesy of everyone at the soundboard. I was on a little platform in front of the soundboard, and had a fantastic view, and a fantastic show due to everyone taking care not to obstruct my view.
- The setlist seemed to go on forever, and ended up a little atypical towards the end. I had no idea what was coming on next, and that was really refreshing.
I wouldn't have enjoyed the show nearly as much if i hadn't been at the back and with so many awesome people from here. I'm really surprised at how much I enjoyed the night. I don't want more, I don't want to top it. This is probably my 3rd or 4th favourite show......

and Trent's speech was awesome! he said something like this: "Someone asked me if our audience changed during the years. I see one difference. I saw Rage Against The Machine at Lollapolooza, there were many many thousand of people there and they were all dudes. When we started 20 years ago our audience was the same - all dudes. And now I see a lot of hot chicks in the first row!" And at the same moment like as it was planned Robin catches the bra from the pit! :))) And Trent says: "You see? That's what I was talking about!"
Also he said that he's back to Pennsylvania from where he was trying to escape for 18 years :)
I took binocular with me at the show and couldn't stop looking through it :) Everything was so close and so fucking cool! All the band especially Trent is so full of energy, it's incredible!
Now when I watched the light show from the distance I can say that it's the best thing I've seen in life maybe just after the total sun eclipse :) Putting so much efforts in the production... it's amazing
And meeting ETS heads after the concert was so great! :)
Damn I can't believe I have to go home and wait till spring (hopefully till spring...) to see it again in Europe. I envy you, Americans :)

Fantastic set - Attack of the 60ft Lesbian Octopus, Let's make out, Dawn of the dead, With A Heavy Heart (I regret to inform you), Battle Royale and, of course, "We are rock stars".

FUCK! I missed The Wretched! Dammit!! I shouldn't have have looked at the full setlist. My brother and I arrived late during the middle of Closer (we thought the band would go on the same time as Wednesday), and my sibling was just a little furious. Our seats (which seemed much more satisfying when looking at the arrangement online) just so happened to be situated in front of a mammoth fucking lighting rig, so that didn't ease anyone's temper. However, once we migrated to a much more comfortable viewing area, things got better. The show was of course brilliant: The Great Destroyer and Me, I'm Not were very nice to see. I wish the Ghosts set changed (what I wouldn't give to hear 28 or 32), but Robin's guitar work on 19 pretty much made up for it.
And my favorite part...
"And hiding behind the keyboards - Alessandro Cortini: hair stylist."

To echo what Leviathant said earlier, Survivalism rocked! I knew that the cameras were near soundboard, but I had no idea we would all be on view! :D Also, during Closer a bunch of us were doing our best exotic dancer imitiations, hehe.

I don't know what Trent was jacked up on when he came out, but For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen. The energy was through the roof. I never saw him so animated. I thought 'something was going to get broken' because he seemed to be motioning a lot (I thought he sounded low in the mix) at one point a mike stand got launched. Far. And then, later, he was very chatty. I think I got video of the whole speech, I will check tomorrow. One thing I didn't see mentioned was that he said something about us just stealing or taking his music from him from now on, because he doesn't care anymore. (Not in a nasty way, just like hey, wtf...take it!)

That was by far the BEST NIN performance I've ever had the honor of seeing. The set list was amazing and Trent was in top form the whole way through.

I'm drained from the 4ish hour drive to & from the venue so I don't have much to say right now, but goddamn it the show was FUCKING EPIC. Really feel lucky to get "Wreched" AND "Reptile", along with "Down In It" and everything else. DIOYY gave a great performance (although they switched up vocalists for "Let's Make Out" which kind of sucked) too, it was awesome to see the crowd be so receptive of them.

I thought that I would be dissapointed that I didn't see the old downward spiral clothscreen videos. but the screens and the lighting for this show were amazing.... I'm not really big on the slip, but I think this show turned me on to it. I wish I would have heard a little bit more off of year zero, but to hear reptile, especially after he spoke about seeing more girls in the crowds, made me chuckle.

I drove from staten island, ny to see this show and it was amazing. I was also at the IZOD show but this one blew it away. First off I was on the floor on the right by Robin and everyone around me was pretty cool and not too wild. I had seats at IZOD so it was cool experience the show from both viewpoints. I would have liked a more varied encore but all in all the set rocked. Seeing The Wretched and Down In It again was awesome as well as Reptile and The Big Come Down. I'm glad I got to see all 4 Year Zero screen songs at the past 2 shows. The Great Destroyer and Vessel were outstanding. Does It Offend You, Yeah? sounded better tonight and they rocked too. I'm pretty sure they didn't play Lesbian Octopus though. I remember they opened with Weird Science and they also played Doomed Now in addition to the rest. I'll always remember these 2 shows as I still remember Jones Beach 2006 (my first NIN show) to this day. Can't wait for the audio.

I can confirm that it was not Ghosts 31 tonight, it was Ghosts 8 instead. I think I liked it better than Cleveland last week. Great stuff, keep it going.

This was my first NIN show and I was truly blown away. Lots of energy from the band and the crowd. An incredible setlist that covered all eras and an amazing lightshow that is awe-inspiring. Can't wait to see them again.

I would love an audio recording as well. It was a great set. Blue screen of death (twice) during great destroyer made me laugh. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was the cost of the merchandise and how quick stuff sold out.
OK, a couple of more pictures... also in pre-sale section 114 w/ a canon rebel xsi. needed a better zoom lens, but oh well.

Did anyone see what happened with the tambourine? I actually had my hand on it, but I was a few people over, so I knew I didn't have a chance and let go. The guys that "caught" it then proceeded to drop it and crawl around the floor for what seemed like forever to get it. (I heard someone say, why dont you give me a blow job while you are at it..l o l)Then I think two people found it at once and were in a tug of war for it.
I also have to wonder why they would let a wheelchair on the floor? They were right up on the rail, but then had to get out, and to me, thats just a dangerous situation.

Sound, visuals and crowd were the best. 99% of the people stood for the entire show including the Ghosts section. Philly knows how to rock. I hope a recording surfaces to hold as a piece of personal history because it is a highlight of my life. Trying to explain this show is like trying to explain a personal high point in one's life, you have to experience it...no words can do it justice.

First off how the hell did you get your rebel XSI in there? That is almost a full bodied camera. I'm jealous I wish I could have brought my 40D and I had the perfect lens you could have used, which I doubt they would have let you bring in. The 70-200 2.8L IS. Anyways, I have looked at and seen pictures people were taking with their point and shoots and they looked amazing. Props to them.

I missed the blue screen of death that everyone is talking about. Either I wasn't paying attention, it came up so fast I didn't catch it, or I saw it and didn't pay no attention to it. Oh well good show.
Also why is everyone bashing that guy that got up on stage... I know I am gonna get bashed for saying this but so what. They had security up there in seconds. I dont think Trent would have stopped the show for one incident like that... then again who are we to speculate what trent will and wont do. I was right up front and center at the show 1 off the rail and I saw the kid start to bow down to Trent as respect. Maybe he was a dick in the GA section, I dunno I wasn't in that area but I still give him the respect to get the balls to do that and actually being able to get up there.
The shows over, enjoy the fact that it was awesome and you had a good time. I'm sure we all had some sort of issue here and there but get over it and talk about the cool points at the show... (Trent playing a xylophone... what?) how talented is that, this guy fucking plays everything. He truely is a great artist, I don't care what anyone says and I don't think he get's enough recognition. It's amazing how he does most of this stuff on his own.

I won't repeat too much from earlier posts, but yeah...awesome show...great setlist, with a really good flow to it. THRILLED to get Head Down, Reptile, and Down In It. Trent's falsetto has been pretty much abandoned in favor of a low growl/yell instead, which works for most of the spots he uses it. It's a nice change of pace. His voice sounded a ton better than when I saw him in CT. though.
The band seemed to be having a lot of fun onstage tonight. A lot of (gasp) smiles all around. When the guy got tackled onstage, I thought I saw a glimmer of a smirk from TR towards the end of it and I'm almost positive Robin was looking at the guy in amazement with a smile on his face. Also, Robin and Josh interacted a lot during "God-Given" with a lot of smiles, and Josh doing a weird shuffle dance. He also laughed at Robin when Robin almost didn't get to the end of the Whisper part in time.

Yeah! The Great Prenteder, LOTS of smiling (I think there is logic-defining photographic evidence somewhere), and the ghosts set was really pretty. I was glad to see them perform as "classical" (if you know what i mean) musicians. Something I've wanted to see for a long time.
Something I also wanted to see for a long time was choreography in NIN shows. I'm still a bit sad that God Given didn't have any, but the Only "running away from The Blob" bit was great. It's like something that tiny lady I like would do, and this pleases me.

Yeah, great destroyer was a great highlight for me as well. The ghosts songs were great, it calms things down for a bit for sure and definitely adds another aspect to Nine Inch Nails. Anyone notice his voice sound a little hoarse when he was talking to the crowd. I felt bad. When I cam home last night, I thought to myself, damn when will it be my last show seeing Trent (NIN). He is getting older and whether or not his vocal issue is a medical condition or just something aquired over the years or just something short lived, it will be a sad day when I know that was my last NIN show. Ya know. I dunno if anyone thinks of that.

Yeah, Philly Fly has some smiles posted in their flickr acct. I DO know what you mean by "classical" Hearing stuff on disc like Ghosts, and even a lot of stuff on the Fragile that never got played live, you just wonder how it must be to see it recreated live. And to actually finally see it in front of you, is a testament to the great musicianship (Is that even a word?) of the guys involved. They just seemed so focused, and wrapped up in that music in a way that, while still interesting, is such a 90 degree turn from their usual performances...I can't decide if Justin on the stand-up bass or TR on the xylophone is the coolest...then there is Robin on the uke...Alle just seems so focused on the synths. The new layers and sounds he adds are incredible, and sometimes so subtle, but still effective. HEY...did anyone notice the big ole' water jug attached to Freese's drum kit?icklekitty wrote:
Yeah! The Great Prenteder, LOTS of smiling (I think there is logic-defining photographic evidence somewhere), and the ghosts set was really pretty. I was glad to see them perform as "classical" (if you know what i mean) musicians. Something I've wanted to see for a long time.
Something I also wanted to see for a long time was choreography in NIN shows. I'm still a bit sad that God Given didn't have any, but the Only "running away from The Blob" bit was great. It's like something that tiny lady I like would do, and this pleases me.

Honestly that's about as high as I could possibly rate a plausible setlist on this tour, so it's pretty good. In spite of my usual skepticism I was holding out hope for something special (WITT, Last) and was a little disappointed. The "C" is for the same ol' stuff, the plus is because of the songs that ARE switched in and out, I think we got the better ones (aside from Me, I'm Not Entertained By This Song). I was glad to finally get Reptile after however many shows I've seen, and Down In It was fun in a terrible sort of way as well. There was a pretty good dance to rock ratio, but I still could have used more disco action. My favourite stretch was from Survivalism to Down In It. Good stuff in there.
Musicianship: A

Yeah that drum kit was put together by Brian Viglione (drummer) from the Dresden Dolls. Trent had him come out to LA to help record some drum tracks for the Ghosts album(s) and sent him to Home Depot to find some stuff to make a drum kit. Well that water cooler jug is part of it. I know Brian wrote up a big blog somewhere on either his myspace or the Dresden Dolls myspace... but I am not finding it.

Then the event staff people where pointing and talking so she ran right into the crowd of people in front of the soundboard - the guy persued her and dragged her out after like 2 minutes. (I'm surprised he found her, tbh!)

But besides... coming from Northern Virginia... traffic was HELL. It took us 5 hours and 15 minutes to get there... and just 2 hours and 50 minutes back. I missed only the first 2 songs though...

I got to the venue around 5:30 because traffic getting into Philly was fucking awful. I still managed to get a great spot on the floor, though. When I got to Wachovia I picked up my presale ticket and got in line. Thought I saw someone who was EYB, but as hippygeek pointed out to me, he was only there is spirit.
The presale line for GA was pretty long, so I didn't think I'd get a spot on the rail like I was hoping, but I did, in front of Robin. I met a friend of minem Kristin, from the Spiral (I think she posts here as well) and her friend and brother. All really great people.
This was my 4th NIN show and definitely the best. GREAT setlist and the band was totally fucking on. My dad came with me to the show, not knowing much about NIN, and he is now a fan.
Everything else about the show has already been said. The visuals are simply astounding and I can't say enough about how much I love the Ghosts set.

First of all... Why the FUCK was someone in a wheelchair way up front in the pit? And why did it take 6 songs (i believe it was during head down) for security to realize she was probably suffocating down there in the pit. I can't imagine how helpless she and whoever she was with. Such as songs like March of the pigs. She was like dead center in the middle, WTF! Bad judgement all around by the people and the staff for letting her down there that close.

There was this big dumb meathead in front of us with his shirt off hoisting his girlfriend up and spraying sweat, that was somewhat annoying but it didn't ruin anything. What we are all listing as Ghosts 31 is actually Ghosts 8. I know b/c 31 is one of my favorites and the song we actually heard is the track that comes right after that kinda electronic/industrial track 7 on Ghosts.
So it should be Ghosts 8.
Also, if you pay attention, Trent is playing "Zero-Sum" at the end of "In this Twilight" as the band members leave the stage one at a time.

It's been said a number of times above, but absolutely incredible show. My fifth time seeing NIN (Fragility once, With Teeth twice, current tour twice), and this was hands down the best show. The band's energy blew away their performance at Virgin Fest and the setlist was far superior. This is the second time I've seen the band in the DC/MD area for one show and the Philly show for the second, and both times the show in PA has been abundantly better.
I was in front of the soundboard as well and got some pretty decent shots, considering the distance. I'll be tied up through Monday, but I will post them to my flickr account next week and link to it here.

Great show. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it more than NJ, but its probably because the NJ show was a shock seeing this tour for the first time. I like the NJ setlist a little better too. I would gladly hear Vessel over Me, I'm Not any day.

Hands down, this show was overall the best one yet for me on the tour. The band energy was awesome, the sound in the venue was ace (Trent's voice namely--crystal clear), crowd was not too rough but not too tame either (very few crowd surfers, at least on center-left rail), and we got Down In It/Reptile! I saw the guy who jumped on stage before when he was just a crowd surfer... Then I saw him climb some boxes off to stage-left and there you had it, hilarious...especially the bowing before Trent and then the illegal checking by guards and one J.T.
I was straight on plastered on the Survivalism top-left cam near the last half of the song (the guy with the Head Down artwork carved into his head), kind of embarrassing but what can ya do, haha.

An amazing show, to say the very least. The intensity, on a scale of 10, ranked about a 13 for me. I was dead-center in front of Trent, right in the area where the girl in the wheelchair was.
Who, in their right fucking mind, would bring a handicapped individual into an area like that? What did they expect was going to happen? I can't believe security let that one fly.
Some highlights of the show:
The guy jumping onstage during DII and subsequently getting the living SHIT beat out of him was hilarious indeed. He startled Trent at first, but TR seemed to have a smile on his face when security was beating the dude's ass.
Also, did anyone else get the impression that Alessandro just wasn't into the performance as much? He just seemed to stand behind the keyboards sulking while the other four rocked out all night. Maybe that's his job, in addition to being the hair stylist, I don't know; the creepy guy behind the boards. He looked sort of annoyed during Me, I'm Not when he came out to take over Justin's console to the left.
I loved when Trent introduced Down In It by saying "Now it's time for some real, REAL old shit."
Freese was amazing, the way he just overhead-pummeled his drum set all night, as were Finck's grimacing facial expressions during Letting You, Head Down and a range of other songs.
The screen static and Trent's wiping it away during Only was great, as was the INSANE energy the band expressed during March of the Pigs.
The seething renditions of the Wretched and Reptile were worth the price of admission alone, and the trio of PHM songs sounded phenomenol.
I liked Does It Offend You, Yeah, and wished they'd have played a longer set. There were more than a few great songs off their album which weren't played. Funny shit when the guitarist told the guy in the crowd they'd be making out for free in his dreams after the show...again.

I loved when Trent introduced Down In It by saying "Now it's time for some real, REAL old shit."
Freese was amazing, the way he just overhead-pummeled his drum set all night, as were Finck's grimacing facial expressions during Letting You, Head Down and a range of other songs.
The screen static and Trent's wiping it away during Only was great, as was the INSANE energy the band expressed during March of the Pigs.
The seething renditions of the Wretched and Reptile were worth the price of admission alone, and the trio of PHM songs sounded phenomenol.
I liked Does It Offend You, Yeah, and wished they'd have played a longer set. There were more than a few great songs off their album which weren't played. Funny shit when the guitarist told the guy in the crowd they'd be making out for free in his dreams after the show...again.
My body is beat to shit today. You GA motherfuckers sure know how to kick it. Can't wait for the VA show on November 5th.

Yeah I enjoyed NJ much more then this show. Great show. I'm not sure if I enjoyed it more than NJ, but its probably because the NJ show was a shock seeing this tour for the first time. I like the NJ setlist a little better too. I would gladly hear Vessel over Me, I'm Not any day.
I actually stopped the guy throwing stuff by basically screaming at him during the ghosts set. Fun time. Fucker had a whole stack of his shitty band's demo cds. Just launching them at the stage and into the crowd. Thank god security took him out because if he remained there for another minute or two I would have probably had to beat the living piss out of him.
I really apologize to all the women around me during the beginning of the show. I was trying my best to give you space from the assholes pushing behind me. Obviously I couldn't do too much against that. I did meet a bunch of really nice people around me. Which makes me even more disappointed to have such a negative feeling about the crowd.
My sister got pretty messed up and disappeared crying due to those pricks. Luckly on her way out one of them got in her face about her pushing to get out and she spit in their face. Nasty, yes, but I have no doubt they deserved it.
I ended up seeing the guy who went on stage after the show in the parking lot. He seemed really proud of himself. Congrats I guess. Hope it was worth it.

I was glad to get a rougher pit on the tour when I was right up front. While I am all for violence in the pit and love me some bruises (got 'em!), I cannot stand people who are *intentionally* pushing and shoving. Moshing, fine. I'll take the collateral damage if needbe. But this group of dudes were going "One, two, three, PUSH!" acting like battering rams. They got at least two warnings from security, and I heard one finally got bounced. Otherwise, most everyone in queue and in pit was as usual very gracious.
So glad to hear Frail/Wretched! And I hadn't heard Down In It yet, either... so I'm really liking the songs dropping in and out of the setlist. I wonder as the tour progresses and his voice keeps improving if he'll ramp that up. It could make the second leg worth attending...
And whoever the woman was who tossed her bra -- you have *great* timing (so quick!). Between that and seeing EYB on the Survivalism screen, I don't think I've laughed so much at a NIN concert ever. Awesome night.

I remember some guy got taken out of the pit and thrown out, about 15 minutes later I noticed there were blood drops on the floor where he was walking. Must have been pretty rough in there! Good thing I had row 1 in section 114. Had a great position and I was saved from pushing and shoving.
I hate people that throw stuff and rush up on stage. Being a Les Claypool fan, I know he stops whole shows and cuts songs for shit like that. I always get a little nervous when stuff like that happens. Just takes one asshole to ruin the night for everyone else. But it seemed like nothing at all could ruin last night, Trent was in top form and mood.
Can't wait for an audio boot to go up! I must have this show!

I actually went to this show by myself because my friend bailed on me at the last minute. I had GA seats and figured I would just hang back and take in the visuals, but I thought different and decided to hang up front. The energy for this show vs IZOD was night and day!! The crowd was nuts!!
Then it happened....
Head Down: I saw the tambourine heading in my direction. It bounced off a couple of people and landed in mine and some other guys hands. We were wrestling for it for what seemed like FOREVER. I heard the blow job comment and thought about punching him in the nuts real quick, but then I would have lost the battle
finally, after realizing there was no way that either of us showed signs of letting go, I suggested we just break it in half. Well, that didn't work because it is made of some space age material that is apparently indestructible!!! Then, in an act of graciousness, the other guy (I don't know who you are, but THANK YOU!!) said, "I am more of a Tool fan than NIN anyway, you can have it." WOW. I must have thanked him 100 times!! I couldn't believe it!!I have been a NIN fan for almost 20 years, and of all the shows I have been to, this one was the highlight.
Thank you Trent, thank you guy who let me have the tambourine, and fuck you assholes in the pit who were beating up chicks and knocking people around for sport. You make me sick.....

I saw you with that after the show. One of roadies threw the other tamborine to my friend once almost everyone cleared out. But some little porker girl had to jump up and cause a fight over it. Some huge security guard (blue button up long sleeve tee) took it from both of them and gave it to some whore looking chicks who probably don't give 2 shits about it. I obvious realize that being up front at a NIN show there is going to be a major crush and possible moshing, but the assholes with the 1,2,3 push thing (which later turned into, this is working, we are gonna have to start swinging)...that it uncalled for. I thought that I could enjoy ghosts, but no, thats when they got really bad with the pushing. I fought these guys off for like 4 songs, and I am SO stubborn and I didn't want to give up, but I was to the point of not enjoying the show at all so I moved. I don't know if we are talking about the same group of assholes, but when I was having trouble with them, I couldn't get securities attention at all. If it was them, I am so glad that at least one got taked out. I yelled at them twice (once to shut the fuck up and and to stop pushing, but they thought that was funny.) I have never been so violent in my life, but I was elbowing them, stepping on their feet, throwing myself back against them, and I was ready to turn around and knee them in the balls. Fuck them. Too bad they will never read this because I know there is no way they are ETS'ers.
On a more positive note, the people I met in line were really cool and everyone around me on the floor before the assholes invaded were awesome.
Flypaper, I am glad to hear the full tamborine story. I couldn't tell everything that was going on, but it restores my faith in humanity that the other guy was cool enough to let you have it. You are so lucky! At first I didn't realize that it was on the floor, but then I heard the BJ comment and realized what was going on. Kudos to you for going down to look for it, because I was afraid that if I went down, I would have been crushed and never gotten back up.

Ugh, that was the worst when they just started talking about who knows what during the ghosts set. I was really amazed at how little they cared about those few songs. It was at this point that I almost killed cd tossing kid. He was definitely aiming to hit Justin while he was playing the bass. Once again I'll praise security for coming and removing that douche.

This was my first NIN show ever, and... WOW! Just WOW! Probably the best way for me to end my last summer in high school. The setlist was on fire, especially with some of the older stuff like Wish, and Gave Up (the heavier stuff is always a bit more electric I suppose). Down In It was AWESOME, and the fat guy that ran on stage was kind of funny. I was just worried the song would be totally interrupted or something, but fortunately Trent and Co. played on. My favorite part was probably the lights with... was it Discipline? The flashing red and blue would have looked awesome with 3-D glasses.

There was only one thing I was really disappointed with though, and that was the bullshit security. My friend and I came down with three tickets, since our one friend bailed at the last moment and we couldn't get anyone else to go. It was too sudden to ask around on the board, so we figured we would just sell the ticket at the venue, face value so it was all legit. However, apparently it's Philadelphia law that we can't do that? Bullshit. They claimed it took money from the box office, which makes about as much sense as using an umbrella with holes. We bought that fucking ticket from the fucking box office! So, that third ticket got confiscated, wasting a seat and about $66 (when you account for handling).

My friend and I came down with three tickets, since our one friend bailed at the last moment and we couldn't get anyone else to go. It was too sudden to ask around on the board, so we figured we would just sell the ticket at the venue, face value so it was all legit. However, apparently it's Philadelphia law that we can't do that? Bullshit. They claimed it took money from the box office, which makes about as much sense as using an umbrella with holes. We bought that fucking ticket from the fucking box office! So, that third ticket got confiscated, wasting a seat and about $66 (when you account for handling).

I wasn't even supposed to go. But so many people pulled together, talked me into going last minute, and everyone was just so awsome. I consider this an extended family, and I am just so greatful to everyone....you all know who you are, you were my favorite part of last night. Thank you.

For my first show, this totally kicked ass! My (56 year old) Dad and I (19) were discussing on the way home how NIN actually managed to bridge a gap between generations as we saw alot of older men with their sons rockin out. My dad was actually the one that got me into NIN! For my first show after being a fan for 10 years, this was amazing! Best show I've ever seen, and I've seen alot of shows before! The "Only" lightshow was ridiculous along with all the other amazing shit.... wowww

I am a first time poster, in fact just joined ETS about a few hours ago!!! Last night in Philly was my first ever NIN show. I have been a NIN fan for over 1o years but never had the opportunity to go to a NIN show before. I have to say, I am very glad this was my first!!! Everything about it completely exceeded my expectations. The visuals were stunning, the vocals were great, the crowd was awesome!! It is a great feeling when you are with a group of people that care about the band as much as you do, I want to thank everybody that was there for continuing to support my favorite band. Also, not that anybody really cares but I was one of the dudes on the video screen during Survivalism. If you look at the pics or vids of it, I was on the bottom row, third video screen over. It is actually me on the left and my brother-in-law on the right. Aside from being able to see my balding spot, that was a true highlight for a first time NIN concert goer!!! Can't wait to see them again!
Hey everyone....wat a great show last night. I'm still beat up and exhausted from it, and even though getting up at 6am today was rough it was well worth it. I've seen trent and co. around four times now and I have to say visualy this was there strongest one by far. The interactive stuff that was going on was truly amazing. Seeing alot of the newer songs live really won me over and Trent once again put on one hell of a show. I never seen them anywhere outside the tri state area but for those that have and seen them here do they really seem to put on a better show because thats what it sounds like. But yeah the crowd had some great people and some really shitty ones. MRX I was near you and actually recognize you. I was to the right of those guys and asked you a couple times if you were ok (i'm sure u heard me once, i was the tall skinny guy with the black shirt haha prolly doesnt help) but yeah I was trying to help you out as much as I could and i told someone to shut the fuck up during one song cause it was killing me. Did anyone notice the short bald guy with that tattoo that kept putting his head down and ramming it into people while looking like he was gonna pass out? hahaha. but overall amazing time

Ok. Just got back from Philly (sorry so late I was busy being a tourist today.) First off to all of the awesome people from here and possible lurkers out there thanks. You gals and guys made waiting in the presale line go by fast! Show is indescribeable for those who haven't seen. Was in the pit about 15 people bac from Robin. So a few notes. I LOVED the ghosts tracks. Seeing TR play the Marimba and RF playing the F style Mandolin was great! To the demo throwing douchebag and the dumbass who went on stage a big "FUCK YOU!" and you both got off easy IMHO.

I was thinking that as well. He played so much with the screen and it keeping him visible it was awesome. I've seen videos beforehand on you tube and it was nothing like it is in person. It really rocked. I'm assuming that he's controlling it somehow...because otherwise it would have to be choreographed, and that seems so weird. I can't imagine him doing that. I don't care if he did, because it was fucking cool. Also, I know I read beforehand about the band being "rained on" but holy hell, live it was incredible!

Great show, the visuals were outstanding. Any video or pics for Only? I keep hearing how cool that looked but I was on a bathroom break at the time.
Saw Robin to the right of the stage before DIOYY went on, not sure if anyone else noticed.
Saw some dude get busted for weed, he made a run for it, not sure if he got away or not.
Some chick jumped from the seating to try to get to GA and did a nice faceplant on the floor, and somehow managed to crawl under the barricade unnoticed. I laughed.

well, as the headline said, guaranteed to be the best show of the tour, it was dead on. it was ten times better than the knoxville show, more songs and songs off the fragile, which is always a plus in my book. my favorites were the wretched and down in it. best ad lib from trent ever has got to be "this is some real, real old shit!" before down it in, that cracked me up. that's the stuff you usually only hear on a bootleg from some european show.
things started a little earlier than i thought they would. i know the ticket said 7pm, but i walked in at 7:10 and does it offend you yeah was already playing. i figured they wouldn't start until 7:30, but oh well, caught most of the set, which was awesome. i would love to see them again, they were a good choice for an opening band, too bad they couldn't play more shows on this tour.

I dug this show. It's like my fifth I guess. Definitely the LEAST aggressive pit I've encountered so far, which was half of a relief/half of a letdown. I was super pumped for a very energetic show, but the energy usually reserved for smashing face was turned into some sexy dancings.
I was standing 2nd off the rail. I had my hand on it for a decent period of the show for stability, but appreciated the bloodflow back to my forearm when I had removed it.
Me and the girlfriend arrived at 3pm to pick up presale will-call tickets. The dudes in line were fun, handed me and my girlfriend some free beers. Kind of obnoxious, but kept the time rolling at a comfortable pace for the 4 or so hours we waited to get inside.
The chick who threw her bra on stage was immediately behind me.
I caught 3 of the water bottles that Robin threw into the audience... but if you saw me, you'd know I needed them. I'm a big boy, and I was doing some big boy dancing.
Sorry to that tiny chick who was hovering around me and my girlfriend, I think I may have crushed you bad inadvertently.
The set list was ok, but I felt that the first four tracks of The Slip was a bad way to start. I'm glad to have heard Letting You and Head Down, though.
I absolutely LOVED The Big Come Down, The Great Destroyer (even if verse 2 was eliminated), and Reptile.
Also, every time I've seen 'The Wretched' live, Trent mixes up two of the lyrics. "The better days" and "The far aways" are reversed... I think.
And speaking of The Wretched... Just because Trent starts playing "The Frail" doesn't mean I want to fucking hear your mouth. Trent is "getting to it." STFU.
EYB on the Survivalism screen was fucking rad. I pointed to it and was like freaking out to my girlfriend like, "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen I DRANK WITH THAT DOLL LAST NIGHT!!" Thanks for a good time in Old City, the night before the show, sorry I had to bail early, guys. Also sorry I didn't hang with you guys at the show, but my gf felt weird about it for some reason since she's not on the boards... /shrug.
I also liked how the little metal stands that the consoles were standing on during Me, I'm Not and The Great Destroyer were shaped like the word OSO, which is spanish for BEAR. Awesome.

that was my first NIN show, too. weird:) i was 16. i had the worst seats though, they were behind the soundboard and reaaaally far away. i remember the sound/setup for APC was bad, and very scratchy and had lots of bad feedback noise. i've since seen a perfect circle a handful of times, and each of those times were great.batalina wrote: man. what an experience. i saw NIN in 2000 at merriweather post pavilion in columbia md, but i was 14 and that was my first show. i find that it's hard for any show i see to top that one, in my eyes, but this one came damn close.

I just couldn't take it anymore...you couldnt even see much of what was going on, like the asshole putting his hands in my pockets, trying to plant his legs in front of mine, elbowing me in the back, and pulling my shirt down. I am usually the most quiet reserved person, but those assholes turned me into a woman possessed. I tried so hard to get someone in front of me to get security, but I don't think anyone in front realized how bad these guys were. I never knew I was capable of such violence, but I waited so long for this show and I wasn't about to let those assholes just push me aside so they could call their friends on their cell to tell them they were at the front. And wasn't their "singing" during piggy god awful?
I would do it all again, though, because it was awesome being front and center and seeing everything so close was unbelievable.
Someone in my family works at the wachovia center box office and I was telling him about the wheelchair on the rail and he told me that happens all the time. The staff tries to tell them that the floor is not really an appropriate place for a wheelchair, but then they threaten the staff with discrimination against disabled people (my family member even knew the name of the law, so I could tell it gets thrown in his face all the time). Im sorry, but that is just so stupid. Dont they realize what a dangerous position they are putting themselves in? I don't even know how they managed to get out of the crowd, because I had a very difficult time when I decided I had enough.

- during Piggy I couldn't really understand how it is possible to play two different parts at the same time - tambourine (or whatever this thing was) with one hand and vibraphone with the other, he is playing two completely different lines! to me it is something beyond human abilities!
- how God Given made it from electronic dance song to almost jazz-rock song. I actually prefer the original version but this is pretty cool and unusual, still dancy and catchy.
- I don't like the new beginning of Only too much. It reminds me of one russian rock band called Kino (Cinema) which is a good one but nothing to do with NIN. Oh well I understand it's only my associations so maybe everybody else love this version but I miss the original riff in the beginning...

I was right next to the girl in the wheel chair, i think her father was the one who decided...i remember him saying that and try to be her guard thru the show. I kept looking over and she looked scared shitless, i called on trent's body guard but when he came over her father said everything was fine, but it wasn't, eventually he told them they had to get out of the pit and made people back out, it would've gotten really bad if he hadn't made them get out. My girlfriend pointed something out to me. When they first started playing, in midst of the chaos, I noticed that his voice wasn't very loud through the speakers. I could almost hear just him singing from where I was up front. I really didnt pay any attention to it, but at one point apparantly I missed it, he pointed at the mic, with a pissed off look and gave a thumbs up and an upward motion (to turn it up). She saw it... I didnt it. I don't know if anyone else noticed any of this.

I definitely noticed it, and he did it a few times during the beginning few songs. That + the shit being tossed onstage made me think he was going to get pissed & that would effect the show. I drove 5 hours from Boston and couldn't be happier to have made the best show of the tour so far, given the DCU show was postponed, and I couldn't make CT or NJ.
We entered the arena just as 999,999 started and was on the floor by 1,000,000. Fortunately, during the song two large security guys started walking to the front, so me and my boy (Nick) followed their shadow ending up 15 feet from Trent dead center (SWEET).
This was my 25th show, and what has always drawn me to the band is the power of their sound. I gotta be honest, by the time they played the Wretched, I was 5-10 feet from Trent and surprised my cloths weren't vibrating. I actually think I was too close because on many songs the mid-range seemed weak, while I did see Trent motioning to have his mike turned up Classicgirl. Could I have been too close to the stage?
The crowd on the floor surprised me as well, since they really didn't get into the show until Gave UP. Sure during MOTP people did start to move around a bit, but it didn't last long, while most people seemed more focused on taking pictures or recording video. I watched two people actually edit pictures on their Iphones during this part of the show (WTF?). To their defense, I was bored too since I wasn't really into any of the Ghost or Slip songs. I definitely would have preferred Ghosts 31 vs Ghosts 8, but really would have loved to hear "Just like you Imaged" since it's the most powerful instrumental in the NIN catalogue (imo).
I stayed right up front until the encore and moved back to the sound board for the rest of the show and what a HUGE difference in the sound. Reptile ROCKED and sounded GREAT !
I loved hearing Trent talk too - keep it up please.

He was right next to me for a good part of the show and I actually helped him "up" - he was chill during the show - I was shocked to see him on stage - and felt bad he got man handled the way he did - he didn't mean any harm - it's a rock show. Finally, if NIN wants to attract more females to their show, I think the set list was perfect. For me, it fell short. It just wasn't as intense as I'd prefer. For years I'd wished NIN would play longer sets, and then when they do, I'm disappointed (go figure). Don't get me wrong - I had a GREAT time, loved seeing the band live again - and can not wait till NH and the DCU shows !!!

This was my 5th time seeing NIN, and it was definitely the best. I was one off the rail in between Trent and Robin. Thankfully, everyone around me was pretty cool and weren't beating the fuck out of each other, so I was able to keep my spot nearly the entire time. (except for that cunt of a girl who acted like she was going to pass out and needed to get out of the pit area, and when some of us moved aside to help her, she just stood there). I really enjoyed the set list, especially hearing the Wretched and Reptile. I haven't sweated and screamed so much in a long time, and it was fucking great! Thanks to everyone!

my girlfriend and i drove 150 miles from just northwest of dc to philly. it took six hours. we arrived JUST in time to miss does it offend you, yeah? and i'm lucky we did; i caught their last song and it sounded like shit.
so we snagged t-shirts and beer and sat and had about 15 minutes before nin came on. after missing such staples as reptile and the big comedown at previous shows, i was really glad when they played them.
the setlist and the visuals blew us the fuck away, and the band played 31 songs (plus that studio recording of corona radiata which doesn't totally count) over 2 and a half hours. jesus fucking christ, pure unmatched audio/video genius. between the static it looked like they stood IN during the chorus of 'only,' the live interactivity with the video screens i've been waiting 15 years to see and trent digging on the 'vampire dudes' in the audience, this really beat out any other show by any other band i've ever seen.
then the next day one of the people i knew and met there said "hey, did you know there were like 30 ets people there?" and i said "no shit?" ha ha. missed y'all.

I have to admit, I think I dropped my ATM card. I went to get gum out of my pocket during DIOYY, and I felt something fall, but I just thought it was the gum, but looking back, it was probably my ATM card. Industrial music is about the intersection of man and machine, drawing sonic tropes from the pneumatic wheeze of moving parts, and taking lyrical cues from the existential exigencies of life in a mechanized world. Trent Reznor made it speak to the punkish angst of youth trapped in dead-eyed factory towns at the dawn of the Information Age - and became the new Man in Black.
Twenty years on, Reznor may have lost some of his cultural cachet - Friday night the Wachovia Center was only three-quarters full - but the potency of his art is undiminished. Judging from the recently released The Slip, Reznor has lost none of the rage in his machine nor - as the performance confirmed - his intensity or ambition as a live performer with a taste for outsized postmodern spectacle.
The Nine Inch Nails show had three distinct segments: The first was a stripped-down rock band configuration wherein Reznor and company - guitarist Robin Finck, keyboardist Alessandro Cortini, drummer Josh Freese and new bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen, on loan from Beck - pounded out NIN showpieces such as "Closer" and "March of the Pigs" and new stunners such as "100,000,000" and "Discipline" with a ferocious precision only exacerbated by banks of strobes and a Vegas-like wall of lights.
The second segment found the band hunched over keyboard consoles perched on the lip of the stage and backed by a semitransparent scrim illuminated to look like a giant LED screen, while conjuring up the spectral synth murk of Ghosts. This scrim, it must be pointed out, was a thing of wonder - able to do things I could not begin to explain to you, eye-dazzling things that defy the laws of science and logic.
For the third segment, the band members disappeared behind the magical scrim, again taking up guitars and drums. They appeared as fuzzy silhouettes behind a two-story wall of TV static that slowly morphed into a rainstorm during "19 Ghosts III," making it look like the band was performing in a monsoon, and then morphed into an Asian temple tableaux, complementing the oriental percussion of "The Big Come Down."
Fittingly, NIN closed out the set with a ripping spin through "Head Like a Hole," the song that started it all, then returned for a low-key encore that peaked with a mass sing-along of "Hurt," the Reznor-penned song that became a death-bed hit and de facto epitaph for Johnny Cash - a dark gift from one Man in Black to another.

Thanks for posting the review - Interesting. I will say "thank god" I went to Philly, because I am not a fan of last nights setlist at the Krupp. Oh well - it's NIN. ThinkIcouldburn, there is no way that guy remembers even being at the show, much less post on this forum. He was a mess (imo).
Is there a list of all the instruments that they used during the concert? I'm wondering just how many different ones there were...

I'm the biggest hater so I would be negative, but this show couldn't compare to IZOD, but this is pretty much just because of the awful crowd. I had some big fat guy trying to sandwich me towards the front. Shit like that always happens to me though. But the set and sound were amazing. Finally getting to see "Me, I'm Not" was fantastic.
I'm not good with knowing people through internet pseudonyms, but great meeting Adam, Heather, Brittany, Kira, Nick, and Danya. Great seeing Barrett, Pam, and of course Sawyer and Carol as always.
And the dude who was wearing ike, a Social Distortion or something shirt that I was talking about old tours with and Mastodon, you were awesome too.

I loved the Philly show so much! Out of the 5x I've seen NIN, it was my favorite show. I loved hearing Reptile, and The Frail into The Wretched. I danced so much - I was not in GA, but my seat was the last seat in a row next to a guard rail, so I had space to jump around and move, which I like to do. I can't stand still and listen to music. I kept watching their soundboard guy too - he was directly in my line of vision and he moves the whole time. What was funny was before the show, he was stretching, then I saw him drink red bull and he started jumping up and down just before the show actually started. Of course he knew the exact second everything was to start.
Lesbian chicks sitting on the other side of my daughter, were making out, drinking beer through a STRAW, and waving it in my daughter's face when they were drunk (she just rolled her eyes). They gabbed on through Ghosts - its a little irritating, but you just block it out and focus on the music.
I like how 999,999 starts a little while the lights are still on and you see everyone quickly realize what's happening, then the lights black out and here we go.
I saw the BSOD twice (now I forget which song it was) but I glimpsed it twice in the visuals.

Just got back from wed-Mon adventure saw NJ and Philly shows. Philly was amazing. Was on rail with buddy in front of Justin, ended up moving a wee bit closer to trent. Reptile was definitely the highlight--sounded amazing loved how Trent and robin played all hunched over like they were ready to attack. Me im not is oddly one of my favorite NIN songs ever so I bugged the fuck out when i heard it. Have lots pictures and videos will add better review later

Haha, I can handle side conversations people were having, but the worst was when some guy decided to try to flirt with me by talking about our cameras! Seriously, I couldn't even hear him and I think he got the point when I yelled, "I CAN'T EVEN HEAR YOU!" He then moved on to some other innocent victim and took about 15 photos of himself. I'd also like to say, aside from how mind blowing the entire show was, from Down In It until In This Twilight was hands down the greatest thing i have ever seen.

Yeah I enjoyed NJ much more then this show. Not that it had a better setlist, but more because in NJ I wasn't being ass raped by drunk douches for the first 5 songs.
I actually stopped the guy throwing stuff by basically screaming at him during the ghosts set. Fun time. Fucker had a whole stack of his shitty band's demo cds. Just launching them at the stage and into the crowd. Thank god security took him out because if he remained there for another minute or two I would have probably had to beat the living piss out of him.
I really apologize to all the women around me during the beginning of the show. I was trying my best to give you space from the assholes pushing behind me. Obviously I couldn't do too much against that. I did meet a bunch of really nice people around me. Which makes me even more disappointed to have such a negative feeling about the crowd.
My sister got pretty messed up and disappeared crying due to those pricks. Luckly on her way out one of them got in her face about her pushing to get out and she spit in their face. Nasty, yes, but I have no doubt they deserved it.
I ended up seeing the guy who went on stage after the show in the parking lot. He seemed really proud of himself. Congrats I guess. Hope it was worth it.

I actually ran into the guy who went up on stage after the show was over. He probably had a concussion or something because he was saying "Where were you guys, in the crowd? Cause I was on the stage!" Then a few minutes later came back with an ice pack or something on his head and said that it's probably a good idea to not go on the stage ever again. Gave me a good laugh.

Hey, tight white shirt! I think my boyfriend and I were the other couple in that line shenanigans. Saw him again in the parking lot after the show. Closest I've gotten to riding rail. Here's to hoping the next time I'll get it. Hope to see you both again for more rockin' out!!

This interview is actually pretty great. He gives such articulately solid advice for artists about the music business that I'm going to insist that my daughter and her band listen to it. Thanks for uploading it.

This was my favorite of the three.
Between those I got to share the entire experience with, and the sheer energy of the live act, the stars aligned and everything was just completely fucking perfect in Philly. And I mean that in the most selfish way possible. I didn't get a single picture of the show - was way too into it to even CONCEIVE of steadying my hand for a camera - but there are moments and feelings from the performance that will stay with me much more strongly than any photograph.
On a side note: I've heard In This Twilight live numerous times by now, and it's always brilliant, but for some reason something came over me this time...especially during the Zero-Sum outro. I can't explain it, but my eyes definitely welled up.
I was sure Josh's arms would fall the fuck off when he started going BERSERK on the drums during Piggy. Holy shit! - I'll have to check later if someone caught that on video.

If you refresh the register-page a couple of times towards the end of the day, an account will likely have been freed up as inactive accounts get deleted. If you can't get an account, let me know and I'll upload this at TTD as well. Fear not!
