good show. thought the lights weren't as bad as people were saying they were through out the tour. they seemed good to me.

Metal, Becoming, and The Way Out Is Through were the highlights for sure. I was REALLY hoping they would play Heresy for the annoying bible bashers outside yelling at everyone.

Absolutely fucking great show! Loved the setlist. Really Fragile and Downward Spiral heavy. Got some pics I'll post later as I'm on my Blackberry at a friends.

SSSC and Jane's were top notch as well. All in all a great show.

What a fucking hell of a setlist. I recorded everything but Discipline, Burn, Wish, and THTF in glorious 1080i HD (I'm watching it now and it looks amazing!). Didn't know tripods weren't allowed, so I stuck it out and somehow didn't have my arms fall off. SSSC was very impressive and had an awesome set. Jane's were fantastic and Perry was absolutely hilarious and fun to watch. I'll be uploading stuff later on when I have the time.

EDIT: And to the two fucking section 101 douchenozzles in front of my sister and I who insisted on talking about inane bullshit throughout the ENTIRE NIN SET EXCEPT when they heard a song they THOUGHT they knew from the radio: GO FUCK YOURSELVES. Would have been a perfectly awesome experience if I wasn't witnessing your self-proclaimed "bromance" develop to a whole new level of fail directly in front of me.

I agree, the setlist was awesome! I mean come on, The Hand That Feeds and Head Like a Hole sandwiched between TDTWWA and Hurt. Sweet.

Also, the drums that Ilan put on at the end of Wish were unbelievable and I dare say it was overall the best version of Wish I've seen.

Still, can't get used to seats and to the more subdued crowds. It's March of the Pigs guys, time to start mooooving.

For now - all I've got to say is that Trent mistakenly walked backwards into Robin's keyboard and it was HILARIOUS. He got so pissed afterward that he kicked a light.

Stories later after I catch up on sleep.

Oh and yes - I filmed EVERYTHING in HD. Probably will put up some songs tomorrow.

EDIT: Yeah - I'm definitely posting 'Piggy' first. Not only does Trent kick a light, he climbs on top Ilan's drums and pounds his microphone into his set. Trent smash.

A couple of other afterthoughts-

- The sound at the Shoreline (at least where I was sitting in section 101) was top notch. This was probably the best sounding NIN show I have been to out of 7. It was probably the best sounding show overall at the Shoreline I have heard out of a dozen or so. I was impressed with that.

- Ilan is a fucking great drummer. Tis a shame I only had the chance to see him once. Fills Josh's shoes nicely.

- The setlist was the shit. Besides 1,000,000, Terrible Lie, March of the Pigs, Gave Up, Wish, THTF, HLAH and Hurt it was all shit that I hadn't had the chance to experience live yet or had only heard once or something. Loved it.

- I saw quite a few people wondering what the heck NIN was playing when they started into Metal.

- The most intense moment of the night for me was The Way Out Is Through. That was a treat for me. Holy shit.

- I was too pussy to bring in my 300mm lens but I saw people with much bigger lenses than that. They didn't even care when they checked my shit. Goddamnit.

Last night (MT VIEW) was the 3rd show I've seen in that past 6 days and I was the best of them all. great show and the Sound was awesome. We took our camcorder and got most of it missed 2 sounds.

Santa Barbara the night before was a VERY VERY close second. I'm so glad they play a different play set each night.

TRENT mentioned not touring for the next 5 yrs. or so.... So does that mean NO MORE MUSIC ALSO??????

Ilan is such a great drummer..

Loved the setlist ("Metal", "Terrible Lie",..). Enjoyed "The Fragile" with my closed..just listening.

The sound was great. The people at the venue, the merch stand ppl and the guys from MusicToday were very nice - a big thank you to all of them!

So, nothing to complain about..just about the fact Trent said it could be the last NIN tour for a while or "..maybe ever". We will see what will happen in the future..Enjoy your time off, Trent!

JA & SSSC also rocked!

I have seen NIN many time since '93, and last night was almost on par with the shows from back in the 90's. Different, but fucking amazing nonetheless. Although, after they played wish the only songs I was really into were TDWWA and Hurt. Despite that, I still couldn't have asked for a better farewell performance. What a fucking great setlist?! I went crazy when they played the becoming. Fuck yeah...

I like JA alright, but they bored the shit out of me and I actually left after "Then She Did...". My brother stayed and said it got better after that, but I could give a fuck really. Perry and Navaro annoyed me...

Keep putting out music Trent and thanks for the amazing show!!

She was indeed right there, I was standing about two rows back right in front of her...

Wow, yeah. That was pretty amazing. The last NIN show I saw was also at Shoreline 3 years ago for the last show of the With Teeth tour. While I think presentation-wise that show was superior, what with all the screens and stuff, this was the better performance by far. Metal was absolutely amazing, and the new songs from the Slip sounded just as good or better live than the classics. That much surprised me.

It'll definitely be hard to wave goodbye if this is indeed the end of touring.

He wasn't an all out smasher last night though. I remember at the begining of 1,000,000 he charged one of the keyboards on stage as if he was about to just hurl that thing into the crowd, but he only ended up nudging it slightly haha.

Yeah, so now every one has a cute little keyboard, which is pretty interesting to watch. The setlist reads well but is Ultimately kind of boring. Not to say that the performances were bad, because they were FUCKING AWESOME, but it seemed like mostly a cast of the usual suspects with a b-side or obscure track thrown in here or there for good measure. Hilights of the show were definitely the obscurities. The way out is through is a pretty sweet live track and watching the Ilan play The Becoming live is definitely one of the better parts of the show.

All of the performances, musically speaking, were on the spot. I'm pretty sure that was the best "Piggy" I've seen to date. I'd like to note that it wasn't the Piggy remix though, which was slightly disapointing as it is the only version of Piggy I haven't seen live yet.

The lighting on the Jane's Addiction set is WAAAY cooler than the NIN set-up. Of course some of NIN's performance was during the day which was kind of unusual.

The soundcheck was a huge tease, I wish I could have afforded it. From what I heard they tested:

I think I saw some ETS folks towards the merch booth when I first got in, but I wasn't really sure so I didn't really say anything. Merch is gonna cost you like 40 bucks, fuck that. I made a 180 and bought a pipe from the shoreline ampitheater head shop. It haas a little skull with a wizard hat. It was far cooler looking and far cheaper than anything at the NIN|JA booth.

had a good time despite my general dislike for the shoreline and seats at shows - probably the best sound of any show i've seen there (although i usually stick to the GA lawn when i do go)

crowd was ok - except for the mass of drunken douchebaggery that kept stumbling up and down the stairs looking for closer spots where they didnt belong

it's nice to see the setlist changing so much each show (although this is gonna be my only one this tour) - Metal definitely confused a few people - Burn is good live, and it was great to hear more songs off the fragile

hoping this isnt really the final farewell



for the rest:

SSSC - as an oakland worker - the oaktown nod leading into Paper Airplanes was awesome

the old jane's songs brought back some memories - perry is a total fruitloop - an entertaining fruitloop - even my sister who hates JA enjoyed it - (the greater environs of) san francisco loves you too - and wavy gravy aint dead yet



lastly - circling helicopters are never a good sign - anyone know what went down? i'm curious....

I was wondering the same thing too. I thought it was for traffic because I think we sat right where we were in the parking lot for nearly 25 minutes without moving.

Apparently, we already have a San Jose Mercury News review...doesn't really come across too positive, but fuck' em. Still a solid show.

Okay, on a computer now, time for a full review.

SSSC - They were pretty funky. I arrived not long after the doors opened so I saw their full set. I liked Mr. Riley's dancing quite a bit. Morello's playing was great. Between every song Boots would remind us that they're Street Sweeper Social Club--don't forget that. You won't, because he'll tell you 5 times. I enjoyed them a lot.

NIN -

Piggy - I was indescribably happy to hear this song. And the actual version, not the Ghosts rendition! It's so simplistic but it's always been one of my favorite songs ever. Great drumming by Ilan, as others have commented.

Metal - Yeah, I was one of the people that didn't recognize this, I'm sorry to say. I know of it but never have sought it out on the internetz before. It was a cool song, though.

The Becoming - Holy shit, one of my favorites from The Downward Spiral. I just love this song so much, and live it was so good.

Burn - Quite a treat as well. It had some of the same distorted synth in the beginning that Alessandro used to take care of, but it wasn't the same as it used to be. Still rockin though.

The Fragile - One of my favorites from The Fragile, and one of my favorite solos ever. Some of the drums were sampled from the studio version of the song, I think, which I liked very much.

The Way Out is Through - Totally unexpected, I'm sad to say I didn't quite recognize it until about 20 seconds before where it picks up (guitar entry, "Underneath it all..."). But yes, one of my favorite instrumentals ever, and it was so cool to see it.

The Day the World Went Away - As cool as I expected it to be. A treat.

Those were my highlight songs. The mixing was good, the bass wasn't just a boooom but I could actually distinguish the pitch of it. I was in section 203. Venue staff were friendly, including merch guy, and I didn't have any problems with the people around us. Walking out, I saw one guy being handled pretty harshly by venue security, into a little lit building where three or four more guys, including actual city police in there. Don't know what that was about, but it was obvious the guy was resisting arrest and was about to get FAUKED. Anyway, great show. Even in 203, it was a fairly fine distance.

The guy I was with got about 13 NIN songs and 3 or 4 SSSC songs in 1080 HD. I watched them after and was pleasantly surprised by the sound being so decent. I've tried to record video with a relatively shitty [for video, evidently] digital camera (Canon PowerShot S2IS), but the sound came out way distorted and treble-y. His was actually great though. I haven't got them transferred yet, but rest assured they'll be put out sometime.

Trying this again (damn PC). I was a little behind on the presale tickets and was up in the 200 section with people that got confused at Fuqua's list above. SO STOKED to hear Metal played live and happy to hear the strong percussion on TDTWWA.

Awesome show, and I'm working on getting to an East Coast show if I can help it.

Only downer for the night: A big, giant dildo up the collective asses of the 3 bitches and their eunuch friend who talked during the ENTIRE show. Finally got them to shut up close to the end during "Hurt."

speaking of, gosh. where to begin. the soundcheck was fab due to the songs previously listed -- I especially liked justin's pink shoes. Tom Morello is quite a chatty man, soundcheck-wise. I was bummed to not have met him at any point after the show, as he seems like a guy who really enjoys a common conversation.

Missed all of street-sweeper due to the "Help Eric" line. Saw nin run on, completely with the illustrious Q ushering Trent to the get-ready tent, only to run immediately back to the dressing room afterwords. I suppose the spotlight isn't for all. Made it back out to catch the rest of nin's set after that, which was enjoyable. I can't help but think I've heard most of these songs before live for this being the "fuck it we're going to only play the songs we like" set. Bummed about a lack of "heresy," but, well. Eh.

Robin makes the weirdest facial expressions when he does... anything, but he's a pleasure to watch perform. Insert more kudos about how Justin and Ilan are nice people here. Trent sounded good during the set, but I couldn't help but notice that he voice sounded a lot raspier (in the "i'm losing it" sense) toward the latter half of the setlist. Anyone else have any thoughts on this, or am I just crazy?

Perry is. Uh. Well. I didn't care for Janes much prior to seeing them live, but they're at least pretty fun to watch--I guess they eventually won me over. One observation--what's with the weird fat/nerdy guys trying to rush the stage whenever Perry came close to the rail? I saw security having a fit with them (right aisle on the floor), and couldn't quite get it myself. Do dudes really like Perry that much? I know he really likes it when people suck his cock, or whatever his banter was. But. Um. I thought that was more a ladies-focused thing.

Either way, good show. Great "ending" for the big nin tour run. Trent seemed genuinely thankful that everyone cared.

Great show. NIN sounded great on the hard stuff, and even better on the emotional songs (the fragile was my favorite performance from the 4 shows i've been to). I was in 201 for SSSC and NIN, then was able to upgrade and get down into the 100s for Jane's, and it made a HUGE difference. In the second level, the sound just didn't kick my ass the way it was supposed to. As a result, this NIN experience wasn't quite as good as Oakland last september (i was right up front at that show).

Wah wah wah, I know. It still ruled. I brought my 14 year old brother (first concert ever) and he was just in awe the whole time. That alone made it worth it.

The biggest surprise for me was Jane's Addiction. I knew about half their setlist, but I've never really been a fan. I just didn't understand their shtick. Last night really changed my mind though. The drummer and bassist rocked the fuck out, and Perry's antics just made it more entertaining. I am really glad Trent teamed up with them, and I would pay good money to see Jane's again.

'twas an great show. The Becoming made my night, though I would have loved Heresy.

Also, I'm 99% sure the bible thumpers are just part of the start of an ARG.

Heh, reminds me of the person who found the NIN scavenger hunt prize in a cop car a while back. Maybe this guy never heard that the prize was already found.

As for the show, from where I was sitting, the crowd was great. I sat next to a very cool couple that drove from Vancouver for the show. I believe the fellow's name was Liam. From beginning (soundcheck/meet & greet) to end, it was a damn perfect day.

they just don't send up helicopters unless its something major - i'm glad to hear noone was seriously hurt

as for the "less lethal" beanbag shotgun mentioned - i've seen those fired up close, and trust me - you do NOT want to be in front of it - so hopefully its locked really securely

Yeah I heard 3 of the soundcheck songs, so pissed I got there late from the NINJA line. I was just hoping Dead Souls would make it, but to no avail.

My experience told in a facebook album. (It also includes Santa Barbara)

I set it open to everyone, so everyone should be able to see. Start from the beginning and go to the last photo for anecdotes and comments.

The sound at this show was intense! I love shows at this venue so much. It also felt like techie central. Everyone nearby worked for some tech company or another. It was very strange. Met Kevin Rose and others. I had a great view, too bad there was so much idle chit chat around us.

My favorite performance was TDTWWA. And I got a clip of it! Wooo! Even though I heard it a few times this tour already, for whatever reasons, hearing it in Mt. View gave me goosebumps and did evoke a slight hint of a tear!

I really enjoyed this show. I am not enomored with any of my NIN photos though my video recording of THTF, HLAH and Hurt weren't too bad (some sound quality issues). I thought I would share a photo of Dave Navarro because: DAMN

BTW - SSSC was amazing. I have already downloaded 100 Little Curses from iTunes and will definitely be buying their album when it comes out in 3 weeks.

EDIT: I also recorded Been Caught Stealing (when Perry asked Perk to show everyone his cock mid song), but I love that song and couldn't keep myself completely still.
