Didn't meet up with any ETSers, but the show was AMAZING!!!

That was the best NIN show I've ever seen. Apart from not getting Last and maybe 1 or 2 other songs, I could not have asked for a better setlist.

Awesome show! Performance and set list rocked! Street Sweeper Social Club rocked as well! Only complaint is how such a small percentage of obnoxious people in the crowd can completely ruin a concert experience. Overall though, easily one of the best shows I've ever seen.

I'm thinking it should be called "Terrible Lie (version)" based on his comments later in the show.

If someone posts the audio or puts a video up on youtube, you can hear it directly from the man, but he totally botched the 2nd verse, so the entire verse basically went “grrrrrrrrrr ooooohhhhh grrrrrrrrrr aaaaahhhhh grrrrrrrrrr CAN THIS WORLD REALLY BE AS SAD AS IT FUCKING SEEMS!!!” Then later in the show he said he messed it up on purpose since that’s how they are now performing the song on tour. Then he told everyone to go blog about it. He's such a nerd.

Anyway, it was definitely a solid show. Got to see some new songs and the venue was pretty sweet. I really hope it isn't the last tour ever, though his comments seemed to intimate that. Hopefully he justs needs some time off and he gets the itch to perform live again.

And SSSC was pretty cool. Morello is a monster. I definitely enjoyed their set.

Ninth time Ive seen them (and Detroit will be #10), but god damn that was an awesome show! The energy was incredible. I always have a better time at Chicago shows then I do in Detroit shows. Highlight for me was def Somewhat Damaged, its my favorite opener by far. That and when Trent said "I think Ive had sex with some of you" and mentioned the "moustache" that was amazing! Thanks again Chicago! Hope to see some of you in Detroit!

The show was good, Although I think I have learned my lesson about reading setlists on these tours before the shows I'm going to see. I think they played as great as they always do, but knowing some of the songs that could of been in the set I can't say the set was amazing. Really bummed that we didn't get NIN, Last, or I do not want this, but Mr Self Destruct, Heresy, The Becoming, The way out is through and The Fragile were great. I think I'm jadded since last night was my 18th show. SSSC was awesome, was great to finally see Tommy live.

Got the whole NIN show on DV cam with a quick cut during The Frail/La Mer.

Hopefully get a couple that I wanted tonight, and if all goes well should get all of tonights show on tape as well.

I didn't have a ticket - I didn't SEE the show - but along with all the cats at 12th Street Beach on Lake Michigan, I heard every note played. It was a righteous night! In spite of reading about all the intoxicating combinations Trent & co. have tried thus far, I couldn't have been happier with the setlist Chicago got: the Wish/Survivalism/MSD string was especially powerful, a testament to how tight the band is and how hard they play; everything from The Fragile was mesmerizing; The Becoming was ferociously energetic; and the Numan and Bowie covers were inspired. I caught the LITS set at Lolla last summer and the Fragility tour in Worcestor and, to me, this lineup ripped harder and nastier than the others. If this is it, this is the way to wave goodbye.

It was chilly! Here's a bit of Trent's between-song banter: "How're you doing? Are you keeping warm out there? This was supposed to be a summer tour, but I forgot my ski mask."

How about the intro to Mr Self Destruct!! That was kick ass!! I loved hearing I'm afraid of americans too!! Someone posted the setlist on nin.com and apparently they had echoplex, ITT and Dead souls on it. Maybe we didn't cheer loud enough shitcago?

Fantastic show, set list was incredible, band was tight, sound was amazing.

A couple of shout-outs. One to muriel (sp?), for chit-chatting with my brother and I and keeping us from being bored =).

Another to the two girls from Nashville (thanks for the painting) and the couple from Chicago - I hope you like that Fragile insert...I would never have dreamed of taking your money for it, but just out of curiosity, how much were you going to offer? .

To the two dudes w/ the guitars that got to go up on stage (we chatted a bit before NIN went on stage, we had the framed photo from Lollapalooza), you guys are my fucking heroes.

For the benefit of those who haven't already heard, my write-up on the $300 Eric De La Cruz donor experience in Chicago:

We got there about 3:00 (Fan club ticket pickup was supposed to be @ 4:00 and Meet and Greet was supposed to start @ 4:15).

The guy at the fan club ticket table told us that if we were donors, we had to line up under a "VIP Entrance" sign, but if we were donors w/ fan club tickets, to lineup in front of him and he would give us our tickets so that we could go get into the donor line.

So there were a total of 4 lines to begin with.
1. Long ass line for people picking up fan club tickets that were NOT donors (these people looked fairly pissed the whole time because of all of us donors were in a much shorter line getting fan club tickets before they got their tickets).
2. The aforementioned line for donors who needed to get their fan club tickets before proceeding to the donor line.
3. A group of people that already had tickets and were lining up in front of the venue gates to get into the show. (NON-DONOR, NON-FAN CLUB)
4. The donor line. At first it was $300 and $1000 donors mixed, then a few nice girls with clipboards went through the line and stamped your hand if you were a $300 and pulled you out of that line and started another one if you were $1000 donor (and you were given a backstage pass with the letters "EDLC" on it, no hand-stamps for the $1000 donors, just the $300).

People arriving at around 4:00 looked utterly confused at all the people lined up in the different places. I recommend getting their earlier and talking to someone that knows what is going on ASAP.

I am going to post about the $300 experience here:

About 4:15 we started filing into the venue, the $300 people went first, the $1000 didn't look to thrilled about this, because there were well over 100 of us.

As we were filing in, Tom explained to us that we would be standing in a line to get autographs signed. He told us they would sign 1 ITEM PER PERSON and then we would be placed into another line to have a quick photo snapped by Rob that we could later download form a website that would be emailed to us. The photo would be you, your guest, and the band.

We waited in line about 30 minutes to get autographs. It was very rank and file because of the many, many people. We said hi to each of the band members (Ilan, then Trent, then Justin, and finally Robin - who had a notebook in front of him explaining that he was sick and could not really speak, though he tried =) Each of the guys was very nice and said hi and signed your item with the appropriate color sharpie (you don't need to bring sharpies, they have at least 3 colors there). A quick hi from Trent and he signs your name on the item if you want and chit-chats a bit then you're off to Justin and Robin who were funny and cool. After the autograph we were escorted in groups to the next line.

This process ate up the entire meet and greet time. Once the autographs were finished, we were told that we didn't have time for the picture and they would figure something else out. We were told to instead go over over to the stage and get ready for the sound check.

After a few minutes the gang came out on stage, Trent made a few comments about how Robin is sick and came out on stage in shades, red socks, and clogs, and about how he just rolls off the bus Fred Durst style, ready to go. He also commented about how cold it was "Isn't it supposed to be summer?" and said they were pussies and were skipping the sound check to go chill on the bus b/c it was too cold.

They went on to play:
1. Home
2. The Good Soldier
3. Non-Entity
4. 1,000,000 in which Trent invited the two guys that had brought guitars for the band to sign, to come up on stage and smash them (AWESOME!)

He commented that they should be careful because it's easy to look like a pussy when you're trying to smash a guitar. So one of the guys tried a good 3 or 4 whacks and was not getting anywhere, and Trent says "here, learn from the master!" and walks over and shows this dude (in slo-motion) how he should be swinging the guitar (What what in da butt). The guy then proceeded to smash the shit out of this thing and Trent told the other guy to smash his when the mood hit him, but to try not to kill anyone in the band! They then launched into 1,000,000.

After the sound check we were let up on stage to have Rob snap a quick group photo (NO BAND) of about 25-30 people at a time. Some people seemed really pissed about this because they were expecting a personal shot with the band (did NOT happen for the $300 people, though I heard the $1000 people DID get this...as they should have).

We were then led to a side area of the venue floor and told we could watch the SSSC soundcheck from there, which we did (it was one song).

At this point the experience was over for the $300 folks, we stayed in the venue (we had no choice in the matter) and found a spot on the floor and waited for the show to start.

Overall I had a great time and was pleased with the $300 dollar experience. It didn't seem as intimate as the previous ones due to the sheer volume of donors at the Chicago show, but we were ok with that...after all this was really for Eric. Thank you to Trent and the band for being true professionals and showing us a good time and being polite and kind even though there was a crazy amount of people.

P.S.

We were NOT allowed to leave the venue and take our signed stuff to our car and then come back inside. Not sure if it will be like this for other shows, but plan accordingly.

That was HILARIOUS.

And when he was talking about having sex with someone in the front row..."the mustache"...oh man, I was laughing.

What an absolutely INCREDIBLE show. I'm looking at that setlist and it still feels surreal to me. I can't believe I saw all that.

I remember when the washboards or whatever came on for the start of TWOIT and I could NOT for the life of me figure out what the fuck that song was and then I did. I almost shat myself.

That was the second coolest part of the night. Mr. Self Destruct the third (I was SO pumped when that extended/glitched out kick sample started...so late in the show, it was awesome!). But La Mer...God damn LA MER! That was the highlight for me. I was so elated/happy/excited I could barely hold back the tears. It was so great. I really, REALLY hope someone got audio of the show.

I took some pics and am gonna put them up on Flickr. There are some pretty good ones considering it's a 3-year old 6MP point-and-shoot. Nothing incredible, but they're a nice memento to have.

Oh, and I think the coolest moment of the show was during The Day the World Went Away and Trent, Justin and Robin were all grouped up right in front of the drums jamming together. It was just so...awesome. They looked so tight, so comfortable, so much like a family. It was a really cool moment.

Amazing show and set. Minus the HUGE douchebag in the front, Robin side. Plus his entourage of dbags. Seriously, I was just praying that guy would punch (another) person getting pulled out of the pit so he could be yanked out himself. I don't even think he was much of a fan because he didn't seem to know the lyrics to the songs. Drunk asshole.

Other than that, LOVED the show! Pretty decent venue. After Lolla and 2006's Tinley Park show, I was glad to see something at a smaller capacity location.

What a show! I was in the pit near Robin's side and the crowd was insane! Somewhat Damaged->Terrible Lie-> Heresy-> and then mofo started MOTP and the crowd went nuts. We had beer thrown at us, we were being pushed, screaming, singing along, pure chaos. In other words, it was awesome! I can't thank NIN enough for an amazing show, one of the funnest I've been to and a great night to say goodbye. I bought the red shirt, the Chicago shirt and somehow the poster I bought survived the pit with some minor damages. The Becoming sounded amazing and was my favorite of the night. And even though I get a little tired of seeing HLAH and THTF on just about every set list so far on this tour, hearing it is another story. I fell in love with those songs all over again.
Trent was so funny with the mustache thing, and he was great. Robin is seriously a cartoon character come to life, I couldn't take my eyes off of him. I saw glimpses of Justin and he was as cool as ice. Ilan totally killed it on the drums, great job dude!
Tried to take some pics but they all came out blurry.
First time going to Charter One and it's a beautiful venue. When we were in that long-ass line we saw cute bunny running around. The walk back to the Roosevelt L stop didn't seem as long as I thought, maybe because of the adrenaline.

I was in the middle, maybe 50 feet back from the stage and there was this group of typical Chicago meathead assholes in front of us. They were tall, fat, obnoxious and belligerent. One of them (the worst one) just so happened to be right in front of me almost the entire show blocking my view because of his big stupid fucking head.

He had at least 15 beers and threw EVERY cup at someone taking a picture or video.

I was so pissed. They are the one blemish on an otherwise perfect evening.

Had he not be with a large group of douchier bags, I would've gone out of my way to punch him in the back of his head and then square in his stupid face when he turned around to see who hit him.

God Damn this show fucking rocked. I was around 2nd/3rd row right behind (and slightly to the left) of JMJ. He is by far the best bassiest (albeit only the second) I have seen for NIN. He was rocking his ass off and just overall was being goofy and having a great time. That set-list was unbelievable, every song I REALLY wanted and was talking about during the car ride there was played. The energy and intensity really thew the show into the best NIN show I have ever seen.

The $300 donor experience I got to experience was amazing. Cut short and not as intimate as I imagined but all I really wanted was to meet Trent and see some extra songs, all of which I got. I hope all this helps Eric and others get to experience the donor festivities.

I made to just in time to see SSSC, who played a pretty good show. I've heard them described as Rage-Lite, which I think accurately sums them up. Their jams were tight though, and I enjoyed their frontman's witty remarks: Fuck the corporate bailout, where's the people's bailout? I gotta tie my shoe. I also feel honored to have been graced with Tom Morello's guitar wizardry: watching him shred those insane solos was one of the most entertaining parts of the night.

NIN was quite good, but I think their set at Lolla last year was far better. As expected, their performance itself was superlative, but the lack of bombast and spectacle detracted a lot from what makes makes a NIN show so much fun. I didn't realize how much having complex lighting effects and a live synth player contributed to the dynamics of their shows. Trent and co. didn't seen as energetic as I've seen before (with the exception of Robin, who's still not only a consummate professional onstage, but an exhibitionist as well), but that's understandable considering they've been touring incessantly, and Trent's getting older.

I also thought they crowd was pretty mellow, at least by NIN standards. The GA section looked pretty docile, at least from where I was, and a lot of people seemed more concerned about buying Bud Lite and texting their friends than rocking out. I did talk to some really cool, easygoing fans, and people seemed pretty nice.

Okay, I'm done with the critical part of my review. Not only did NIN render a typically awesome performance, but their set list was practically a love letter to die hard fans, and had some real surprises: I'm Afraid of Americans is something I never would have considered they'd perform, and Gone, Still was a treat. I wouldn't have minded hearing more from their last 3 proper albums, but it was considerate of Trent to give the fans what they wanted, namely the classics. And when Trent told us he didn't take us for granted, you could tell he was completely sincere which was pretty touching.

I feel like I should comment on Ilan Rubin, since this was the first time I've seen him behind the drum kit. I have to say he was pretty outstanding. He played all the songs perfectly, at least as far as I could tell. He's got incredible talent that belies his age.

Well, that makes my 6th time seeing NIN, so if this is truly curtain call, I have no regrets.

Wish I could say the same - I must be a magnet for drunken/stoned assholes.
Was beat to shit, bloody nose, twisted ankle and had to leave early missing the last six songs and any crowd interaction TR made near the end. Can anyone post that somewhere? Thanks in advance.

And thank you to the man that decided that because his friend canceled at the last minute that he would take my friend in as hi guest for the $300 level for free!!! Man you rock, I hope my friend got your name ha!

i hope this isn't the last tour..it's not like they were playing anything they normally don't play. typically if its the last time he would pull out all the stops..i could be wrong..set list was awesome and the sound in the venue was fantastic.

I think it was more an issue of curfew, being an all ages show in the city. I think city curfew for minors is 10:30-11:00. They played until about 10:50. If it's the former, and they went past curfew, Trent could be looking at a fine from the city which would just make the legend of this show even more epic.

What a show last night. So much TDS and Fragile material, Trent being more talkative that I've heard in recent boots, even cracking jokes! My lower back is locking up now from holding my mini-dv above the crowd as best I could last night. I'm not holding out much hope for my footage as a whole honestly, as it was the first time I've ever tried to tape a show. Luckily my battery held up just long enough, literally dying at the end of HLAH. If it's worth a damn I'll torrent it later.

Linnus, those are some great pics. I'm going to use the one with the skyline as my desktop. Thanks for sharing those.

Oh, and Street Sweeper was pretty awesome too. I recorded their first 3 or 4 songs, but then a few tall people settled about 10 feet in front of me and I had to relocate. All in all it worked out for the best.

alright. alright. alright. the only song I wish they played was "and all that could have been" but I have a suspicion that trent forgot he wrote that song. and "last" but regardless, this was the best concert I've ever been to besides a HURT show during a blizzard where only 20 people showed up and j. loren (lead singer) went nuts.

Specifics: March of the Pigs was nuts. I fended off people, I protected my friends second asshole (cyst removal surgery) and I went nuts. It was awesome. I was in awe of the sum of things going on. The show settled down and never got that nuts again but my friend and his 4'9 girlfriend had to get out. I stayed in and it was beautiful.

Ilan was nuts. The Frail---->La Mer was perfect. The drums were too smooth and I was staring. The last scream on The Fragile was nuts. Trent looked into it (breathing was exceptional) and Robin Finck was all about his xylophone. Key songs for me: March, The Fragile, La Mer, TDTWWA

One last note: I feel like concerts end with a bang or a whimper and if they're going to do a bang, HLAH is good. But I will say that I feel that Hurt as a whimper ending isn't the best choice. Right Where It Belongs feels (FEELS) like it should be the last song he ever plays live. It just feels that way...that is the perfect whimper ending.

(BTW bangs and whimpers at an ending inspired by a T.S. Eliot poem, The Hollow Men) I like nine inch nails. NO! I'm like nine inch nails.

This was the only time I can see NIN on this tour, and I'm glad it was such a great show. Was right in front of Trent, 4 or 5 people back. Some asshole was throwing shoes. I loved the pit at this show. Definitely the best out of all the shows I've been to. Its too bad they ran out of shirts so fast. WE waited in line to buy a shirt for at least 30 minutes, so by the time we got there, they were pretty picked over. I bought a SSSC t-shirt (they were great tonight, I loved the Paper Planes cover) and figured I'd buy a NIN shirt online later. I met this girl in line, who was totally wasted, but really cool. She asked me of they took credit cards, commented on the slow-moving line, called herself a "drunk cunt," and tole me she wanted my babies. You always meet some cool people at NIN shows. Too bad I didn't get her name.

HAHAHA! I didn't even notice that before! And thanks...I'm honestly surprised some of those turned out as well as they did!

Phenomenal show! I was sad during head like a hole knowing it was over....side note, did any else see the dude dancing all over the left side of the pit by the seats during SSSC? He was absolutely hilarious and got alot of cheers from the crowd.

So yeah, this show absolutely killed. Fantastic. I'm just thrilled that I was able to make it at all (anyone with an absurdly retentive memory may remember my lament about not being able to go, or my attempts to sell the tickets I had gotten in a fit of hopefulness (the sale of one of which ended up falling through, which was great when I found I could actually make it)).

I was really glad that I had been keeping tabs on setlists for the tour; I think if I hadn't have been prepared for the possibility of having very little "newer stuff" (ie: WT, YZ, Slip), I may have walked away somewhat disappointed. Which would have been stupid, because that setlist was simply incredible. Loved every minute of it.

My local crowd (maybe halfway between the soundboard and the stage) was full of mostly fantastic folks who were considerate and fun to be around, so that's a bonus. A fantastic way to wave goodbye (for now - fingers crossed!) to my favorite band.

I don't think anyone's mentioned how they fucked up going into the chorus on I'm Afraid of Americans... Or maybe I was just hearing it wrong or something? It seemed very Wrong every time; like either Trent was coming in too late, or the guitar part too early. Dunno, it really stood out for me. Perhaps once I hear a recording I'll find out I must have been on crack or something.

Anyway, really fantastic.

I said the crowd was mellow by NIN standards. I've seen them 5 times prior to this and I can tell you, you guys were lucky. Yeah, I noticed a small, localized area near the front of the stage that was kind of rowdy, but most of the people in GA were just standing around holding their beers. This was nothing compared the the crowd at Lollapalooza last year.

Amazing. Awesome. I've been to a lot of NIN shows, but this was the best show of my life (despite a fair amount of assholes needing pulled out from the floor who refused). The venue had a lot to do with it...gorgeous. The floor energy was at a 6/10, so that was perfect. The sound was also pretty much ace (you could hear every word from where I was, center-right on rail with this stack of extra speakers right in front of us)...sooo crisp. And SOOOO loud.
I cried 5 times or so. It was Somewhat Damaged that kicked it off in the right direction for me, a very personal song to me. Trent on us during Piggy just took it overboard next...doesn't happen often obviously (to have him all over your section on the rail), so I'm just grateful I finally got to enjoy that once more without a camera in my hand. The Fragile, The Way Out Is Through...never had experienced before. I exploded.

I don't think it can be topped.

Amazing show...but that word might not be enough to describe it. I finally get to see NIN for the first time, and they played everything I (realistically) wanted. They opened with Somewhat Damaged (my favorite song), and also played nearly everything from the past setlists I really wanted them to play. I'm sad we didn't get that fantastic looking encore, but I know Chicago has a curfew. No assholes around me, and I was very happy about that.

Also, the floor was anything but calm. I was on Robin's side about 20 feet back and there were pits in front and to the left of me throughout the show. Not to mention me jumping and singing along to everything. I just wish I had enough for the tour shirt. :(

SSSC were pretty impressive as well. I really hope that MIA cover gets released somehow.

Fantastic night, fantastic venue. I can't wait to head back there for Incubus in July. :)

Yeah man...La Mer did me in. I was so happy/excited/elated to FINALLY hear the full-band version of that song. And while it wasn't as epic as the Fragility version, it was still damn, DAMN good.

I've wanted to hear that song more than any other (it's my favorite NIN song and near the top of my favorite songs of all-time list, if not at the top) and when The Fragile took that key and tempo change midway through...

I'm getting a little choked up thinking about it. It was perfect.

dude... after a ton of NIN shows I have seen, none will top this one. So many good songs and the energy was fantastic. The video that I got is excellent. I can't wait to post that and the audio.

I hope a recording of this show surfaces soon. I had too much fun and would love to hear it again!

I had GA Floor tickets and I arrived at a decent time, so I was able to get pretty close to the front, although like others said there were a bunch of drunk meathead douchebags pushing wayy too hardcore. I'm used to being on the rail and in pits, but these guys were just assholes. Anyway, I took the Rebel with me into the pit and got some decent shots. Trent also came down into the crowd during piggy about a foot away from me, but I wasnt able to get my camera focused in time for a decent picture...

highlights for this show for me were Heresy, The Becoming, I'm Afraid of Americams, SOMEWHAT DAMAGED, Mr. Self Destruct and La Mer!

I don't think we had a chance honestly; they were throwing the lights on almost immediately after NIN's set, and the crew was tearing stuff down right away. I think they just ran out of time or something (though there was still about seven minutes until 11:00, so we could have gotten ONE song, anyway. :) That would have been a damn incredible encore if it had happened, though. Ah well! Beggars can't be choosers.

no prob man. I felt bad cause I think I elbowed you in the head like 1,000 times with my camera! for 1 hr 50 min your arm does get tired and sometimes it drops. Everyone behind me was getting pissed because I was obstructing their view, I think I was far back enough. So I was like too fucking bad. Solid footage though, Somewhat Damaged is sick as hell. I hope to have it up by Wednesday.

There were so many good parts in this show. Ilan really does kick some major ass, he is up there with freese. TR coming out of the smoke at the beginning of Somewhat Damaged is hard as fuck!!!!! Can't wait to show you my footage.

Haha...no complaints from me! Maybe you were a bit further back from me than I thought after the last post. I never got hit in the head except for maybe once or twice right at the beginning!

And I totally agree about Ilan. That guy frickin' slays the kit! I just wish he would've had a bit more in the mix. Compared to SSSC, it seemed like the drums were turned waaaaaaay down for NIN's set.

My NIN presale seats were pretty good, 2nd row behind the center VIP section (in 309).

Everything was cool except for these 4 broads behind me, one of whom was really shitfaced and loud and talked and guffawed and yelled, non-stop. Everybody around her wanted to kill her. She kept referring to herself as "The Cougar" and making lewd remarks at passing young guys. She was like Liz Taylor in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"

At one point, frustrated but not wanting to start a fight, I turned around and asked her, nicely, if she actually knew any songs by this band (NIN). She grinned and said, "aw, yea, sure! hahaha, NOT! Actually, I KNOW THE DRUMMER!"

A tall blonde woman who was with Mrs. Cougar kind of apologized for her friend, saying "she's REALLY drunk" and reiterated that they got free tix because Mrs. Cougar "knew the drummer." She (the blonde) also said that she didn't know ANY songs so far, she only knew one NIN song that she hadn't heard, yet. Which song? The Hand That Feeds. I told her, dang, he's mostly doing weird stuff since this is their "last tour" and I don't think he's been doing that one very much.

A little while later, the 4 ladies left. I only knew this because everybody behind me started applauding. Shortly thereafter, NIN played "The Hand That Feeds." uh-oh.

I really enjoyed the set list. "The Fragile" was never one of my favorite songs, but I really enjoyed it live. "Somewhat Damaged" was surprisingly good live, too.

I wish those darned screens would've worked. It was chilly, but I dressed appropriately.

We picked up our tix from Will Call, then walked to Michigan Avenue and pigged out at Oysy. We got back just as SSSC hit the stage. Perfect timing.

That Boots is one helluva dancer.

Plus they played an extended set because of the fact that it was only NIN on this date (along with street sweeper). On the setlist they were actually supposed to play 3 more songs (Echoplex, Dead Souls, and In This Twilight) but could not due to crufew (dammit). Seriously if they played all 3 of those songs there would not be a reason to go to any other show on this tour!!!! Heresy just blew the roof off along with Mr. Self Destruct (the song I have been longing to hear live in person). Taped this from dead center about 30 ft. from the soundboard. I was really please how all the tapes came out this weekend. This probably rates 2nd best to Clarkston but I think all of them are really good. The I also taped the show with my video cam (Sony HDR-SR10) and the source should be up soon. I just have a lot to do, as I leave for Holmdel and Jones Beach on Friday. 24 bit will be up shortly. I filmed the entire soundcheck for both NIN and SSSC (already posted on Vimeo) and also the main set for SSSC. I was planning on filming the whole NIN set too, but I got too frustrated with the people around me. We had 3 people behind us that WOULD NOT SHUT THE HELL UP once NIN started... talking about stuff like how they love going to live shows of all types and that you "just can't beat seeing Mellencamp at Indiana University"... cripes. So anyways, since I was annoyed by them, I just wanted to do my best to enjoy the show while I was there and not pay attention to the camera.

Plus there were a bunch of tall people obstructing my view anyways... oh well. I filmed Somewhat Damaged and I think I got Trent's speech about screwing up Terrible Lie.

I'll post the SSSC main set later this week (probably.. need my quota to reset... uploading stuff at 1080p drains it fast), but keep in mind... for them I was sitting and for some of the songs I was only half heartedly aiming the camera. I did zoom in on Morello for a couple of his kick ass solos tho. Sounds pretty good... makes me wish I hadn't gotten so frustrated during NIN. boo.

I also got a bunch of really great picture that my fiancée shot that I'll post up somewhere.

EDIT AGAIN: I think I just heard myself. Right at the start of Hurt, underneath the idiot yelling about tits, I thought it was The Downward Spiral since both songs start out similarly and I realized it was Hurt and said, "Oh, this is Hurt" to my buddy.

I put it on DVD and was listening, during IAOA and The becoming and metal you can really hear the poor little microphone trying to keep up.

yeah... whenever you get those really drunk people around you, or casual fans you just want to kill yourself. I am not going to move to another spot after the show started cause it would make the recording sound weird or possibly worse. I won't tell people to shut up or anything, they paid just as much for tickets as me and if they want to look like a complete asshole, I am not going to stop them. But everytime I do hear someone talk like a complete idiot I just cringe and I know my mics picked it up.

Looking back at the show and listening to it a few times I really did enjoy the show. The only thing is that the crowd was really disrespectful (or at least the people around us).

I hate to be a pain, but since I saw no comments on it..

i've seen them 3 times here in chicago. 10/7/05, 7/1/06 and just this past time. EASILY, the BEST that I have seen them. It was quite possibly one of tightest performances i have ever heard next to Page & Plant at the United Center back in 1998. SSSC was good, actually pretty damn good, i liked thier version of MIA's Paper Planes. NIN was absolutely at the top of thier game that night. The people around me ( 307) were into it and respectful of the music and other fans. Of course this could be because the median age of this section might have been somewhere in the mid-30's. From start to finish it was one brain-beating beat/riff/growl that seemed reminicent of the days when NIN had to beat the crowd into submission and win them over. My sister brought her bf who had never heard of them even though he is 38 - he was turned to our side by the end. It was perfect on a perfect night in the perfect venue. If this is TRULY the last time i will see TR and crew as " Nine Inch Nails", then it was one hell of a send off.

i cant but hope that sometime in the not to distant future after life has revealed a lil of its joys and wonders to Mr. Reznor that he might comeback and entertain us some more. Im sure that perhaps sometime down the road he may choose to revisit NIN or release music under that moniker, yet i feel that perhaps a solo career of sorts is in his sights after he takes some much needed time off to live life.

Notes: Here is my 2nd released video. This one is not as good as Jones Beach imo, as this show there is no elevation on the floor and you basically had to hold the camera above your head.
